EDUCATION: Graduate Springfield High School Class of 1981

Graduate West Chester University Class of 1985 BS Degree Nursing

EMPLOYMENT: AstraZeneca, supervising development and implementation of clinical research studies to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of medicinal products. Most recently, Ms. Skammer was a Study Management Leader within Clinical Operations. She was highly respected as an experienced and dedicated health care professional, and much loved as a colleague in the workplace.

PRIOR EMPLOYMENT: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania AS

A Registered Nurse for several years before working as a corporate nurse.

ORGANIZATIONS: Known for her irreverent wit, infectious laugh and lively intellect, Ms. Skammer's last year of life coincided with her baby's first year. Delighted by the experience of parenthood, she reveled in emailing funny photos and stories of her daughter to friends around the world. Besides her baby Maddy and her soul-mate Neil, Ms. Skammer's favorite things in life were cooking, reading, gardening, art museums, travel, the University of Pennsylvania Mask & Wig Club's annual show, and listening to the BBC and National Public Radio (especially Harry Shearer's Le Show and Michael Feldman's Whaddaya Know.) She had a great sense of the absurd and loved the Simpsons. Ms. Skammer was a big fan of social satirist David Sedaris, and like him, entertained co-workers and friends with opinionated, well-informed, and frequently hilarious commentary on current events and culture.

A dedicated Democrat she tracked down and proudly displayed an Ed Rendell yard sign during the last gubernatorial race, and once theorized that her household contained jthe lone Democrats in the area. She cared deeply about politics and the environment and deplored suburban sprawl and rampant consumerism.

SURVIVORS: Survived by her husband Neil Curtis and their One year Old Daughter Madeleine Skammer Curtis. Her parents David and Joane Skammer of Edgewater Florida; A Brother: Tim and his wife Amy; A Sister: Christine and her husband Robert; Five Nieces and Nephews all of Delaware.

SERVICE INFORMATION: A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday from The Minshall-Shropshire Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA.

Spencer, Marian Ruth

Marian Ruth Spencer, the first child of Jacob and Elsie Steely, was born on April 11, 1914, at her grandparents' farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and passed away in her home at Granite Farms Estate, on July 23, 2004. Marian was a graduate of Bethlehem High School, where she was active in its musical productiions, often in the starring roles and sang with the Bethlehem Bach Choir. On December 7, 1948, she joined Crozerville United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, leader of the Jr. Choir and, until her passing, choir director. She was a member of the Lima Women's Club, and served a term as president of that organization. Marian was predeceased by her husbands, Bernie Shubrook and Atwood Spencer. She is survived by her sister, Ethel Hays of Pasadena, California; brothers, Kenneth and James Steely of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, nieces, Malinda Altmetz and Debbie Steely; nephews, Rick and Tim Steely; and goddaughter, Melanie Jefferis. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Calvary Cemetery, Mount Road, Aston, Pennsylvania. Marian will be sorely missed by her family and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Marian's memory be made to Crozerville United Methodist Church, 673 A Mount Road, Astomn, Pennsylvania 19014.

ORGANIZATIONS: A man, who was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, he enjoyed being with his family and travelling. He was a 50 year Charter member of Millwright Local Union #1906 and also a member of the American Legion Post #28, Delaware.

Sweitzer, Christian A.

Christian A. Sweitzer, 67, of York, died at 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2001, at Lebanon VA Hospital. He was the husband of Cindy D. (Landis) Sweitzer.

The viewing will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 1st, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Burial will be Tuesday, October 2nd, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Mr. Sweitzer was born February 2, 1934, in York, PA. He was the son of the late George and Mary (Doll) Sweitzer.

Mr. Sweitzer was employed by Yorktowne Paper Mill. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Sweitzer is also survived by a son, Gregory A. Sweitzer of Manchester; a daughter, Beverly J. Fillmore of Dallastown; two grandchildren; one step grandchild; two brothers, Richard Sweitzer of Allentown and Leroy Sweitzer of York; and three sisters, Pauline Lucas of California, Sylvia Younker and Bertha Bohle, both of York.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Pierce.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Lebanon VA Medical Center, Department of Veterans Affairs, 1700 S. Lincoln Dr., Building #1, 5th Floor, Lebanon, PA 17042.
