Herman H. Ippolite, Ben Avon

Herman H. Ippolite, 88, died Saturday, July 15, 2000 in Suburban General Hospital. Mr. Ippolite was retired from the state of Pennsylvania . Earlier, he had been an administrator at Sewickley Valley Hospital. Survivors include a niece, Mary Lou Allard of Sparks, Nev. and a friend, Frances Schaffer of Ben Avon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Ippolite; a sister, Jeanette Rahn and a brother, Raymond Ippolite. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. until the time of funeral at 1 p.m. Tuesday in ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME INC., 1014 California Ave., Avalon. Burial will be in the Temple of Memories Mausoleum at Allegheny Cemetery, Lawrenceville.

William E. Johnson, Mt. Pleasant

William E. Johnson, 72, of Mt. Pleasant RD7, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born July 9, 1928, in Altoona, a son of the late Gerald and Edith Harmon Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Altoona High School and was employed as a bus driver for Lincoln Coach and Hilltop Bus Lines for many years. He later worked as a security guard for Doyle Security. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church, Uniontown. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Miriam Beach. He is survived by his wife, Ruth "Ella" Williams Johnson; a son, Jerry Johnson and his wife, Carol, of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters , Marcia Johnson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Cindy Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Andrew, Kristen and Elizabeth Johnson; and a sister, Doreen Smith and her husband, George, of Martinsburg. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

Sarah Wolititch Kartychak, Munhall

Sarah Wolititch Kartychak, 77, of Munhall, died Sunday, July 16, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Robert Kartychak; a daughter, Joyce Kartychak of Hazelwood; a son, Robert Jr. and wife, Maureen Kartychak, of Plum Borough; a brother, Lewis Wolititch of Hazelwood; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Robert Kartychak. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3511 Main St., Munhall. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church. Entombment at Lebanon Presbyterian Mausoleum. Donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Renovation Fund, 4920 Clairton Blvd., White hall.

Josephine Marmo (Marne), Mt. Pleasant

Josephine Marmo (Marne), 91, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 15, 2000, at the Eichers Family Home, Normalville. Josephine was born April 30, 1909, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Peter and Philamae Benedict Marmo. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant, the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens, and was a graduate of the Mt. Pleasant High School with the Class of 1927. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a seamstress by the Volkin Tailor Shop. She is survived by her brother, Philip Marne and wife, Frances, of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Mary Arrigo of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers , Frank, in 1973, Michael, in 1990, and Peter Marne, in 1993; and her sisters , Jennie Martorella, in 1979, and Antoinette Damico, in 1980. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 3 until 5 p.m., at which time her funeral service will be held in the funeral home with the Rev. Father Michael W. Matusak officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Pius X Cemetery.

Catherine M. Pascarella, Pittsburgh

Catherine M. Pascarella, 82, died Saturday, July 15, 2000. She was born April 10, 1918, in Pittsburgh. She was a retired teller for Mellon Bank. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pascarella. She is survived by two daughters , Norma Jackson and Roberta Renk; a sister, Frances Sunseri; a brother, Anthony Malpede; and five grandchildren, Tracey Goldberg, Robert Wolfe, Lisa Penaloza, Lynn Jackson and Robert Renk. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM F. GROSS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 11735 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Gerard Majella Church at 1O a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Contributions acknowledged to YWCA Personal Care Home, 120 W. Cunningham St., Butler, PA 16601, or the VNA Hospice of Western PA, 160 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Peter Perry, Shaler

Peter Perry, 73, died Saturday, July 15, 2000 in Shadyside Hospital.

Born June 29, 1927 in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella Veltri Perry. Mr. Perry was a retired employee of Allegheny County Housing Authority, a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Glenshaw, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Regina Elena Society, Sharpsburg. Survivors include his wife, Marylou Furentino Perry; two daughters , Joy Kornick and Jana Perry; two sons , Peter J. Perry and Mark D. Perry; two sisters , Esther DeRoss and Josephine Humphrey; four brothers , Dominic Perry, Albert Perry, Richard Perry and Raymond Perry; and two grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Isabell Pugliese, and three brothers , Michael Perry, Samuel Perry and Joseph Perry. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in WORRELL FUNERAL HOME, Corner of Main and Ninth Streets, Sharpsburg. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw, with the Rev. George C. Newmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, O'Hara.

Robert F. Ruggiero, Greensburg

Robert F. Ruggiero, 65, of Greensburg, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his home. He was born June 20, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of Anna Mary Johnson Ruggiero, of Trafford, and the late Daniel Ruggiero. Prior to retirement he had been employed by the Jeannette Glass Co. He had attended the church of St. Paul, Greensburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Fort Allen V.F.D. and a former member of the Harrison City V.F.D. and Level Green V.F.D. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Straka Ruggiero; two sons , Daniel C. and his wife, Edith Ruggiero, of Jeannette; Dennis R. Ruggiero of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Michelle R. and her husband, Barry D. Nagy, of Newark, Ohio; and Pamela S. Webb, of Del Ray, Fla.; four grandchildren, Crystal L. Ruggiero, Daniel K. Ruggiero, Corissa K. Nagy and Zachary T. Nagy. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. J. William Rutledge, Monongahela

J. William "Skip" Rutledge, 74, of Monongahela, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his home. He was born July 27, 1925, in Fayette City, a son of the late James W. Sr. and Edythe McKnight Rutledge. He was a retired teacher in the Ringgold Area school district, where he taught English. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania at California, Pa., and a masters graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by four sisters , Mrs. Louise Davis of Dunlevy, Mrs. Jean R. Sherman of Troy, N.Y., Mrs. Betty Waugaman of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Ruth Grazzini of Richland, Wash.; a brother, John Rutledge of Pleasant Hills; four nieces and two nephews. There will be no visitation, but relatives and friends are welcome to attend the interment service Tuesday, July 18, at 1 p.m. in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Champion, Pa. Doris L. Shively, Greensburg

Doris L. Shively, 77, of Greensburg, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, from complications of a heart attack. She was born July 17, 1922, in Greensburg, the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Thompson Wise, and wife of the late William Shively. She is survived by three daughters , Judy and husband, Robert E. Butz, of Charleroi, Sandie and husband, Mark Cunningham, of Medford, N.J., and Wilma Fernell of Derry; a son, Merle Shively and wife, Mary, of Youngstown, Ohio; two sisters , Luella Gettins and Ann Andrus, both of Greensburg; nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Cindy Andrus of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and her family at Adult Assisted Living in Dunlevy. There is no visitation. Private inurnment will be in Brush Creek Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by the DREW J. Gloria T. Smith, Derry

Gloria T. Smith, 76, of Derry, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late William and Anna Costic Bassi. Gloria was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Derry, and was co-founder of Ralph Smith & Son and Dogwood Acres. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Smith, on June 25, 1985. She is survived by her son, Ralph T. and his wife, Geri Smith, of Derry RD1; a sister, Doris Mae Wertz of Derry RD1; two grandsons, Ryan O. and Tony Smith; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Colby, Megan, Alec and Kayla; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Mabel S. Smith, 85, of Carrolls Rest Home, died at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, July 16, at UPMC Lee Regional, Johnstown. Born in Juniata Township, Bedford County, Sunday, Oct. 25, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Beulah (Suder) Fisher. She was a housewife, and the widow of Elwood R. Smith, who preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1983. She is survived by six sons , Elwood R. Smith of Greensburg, Larry Smith of Greensburg, Stanley Smith of New Alexandria, Glenn Corley of Hyndman, Donald Corley of Bedford and Richard Smith of Macedonia, Ohio; two daughters , Barbara Jane Smith of New Stanton and Carol Mihaly of Butler; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Wyant; and two brothers , Charles and Byron Elmer Fisher. Friends are invited to call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MICKLE-GEISEL FUNERAL HOME, Schellsburg, where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Almon Birt officiating. Robert L. Taylor, Penn Hills

Robert L. "Larry" Taylor, 58, of Penn Hills, died Saturday, July 15, 2000. Beloved son of June and the late Robert D. Taylor. Father of Donald C. (Eva) of Alabama. Grandfather of three. Brother of Dan and Peter Taylor. Friends received Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills. Jean C. Tito, Latrobe

Jean C. Tito, 85, of Latrobe, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, after a short illness. She was born Nov. 13, 1914, in Hazelwood, a daughter of the late John and Blanche Gray Cox. She was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, where she held a number of offices. She was a 1934 graduate of the nursing school at St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Civic Club and served both with FISH and Meals on Wheels. In addition, she was on the boards of both the Red Cross and the Adams Memorial Library, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Tito. She is survived by three children, James L. Tito of Latrobe, Patricia T. Rutzler of Erie and Richard J. Tito of Sewickley; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Logan W. Cox of Hot Springs, Ark. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. in the Unity Chapel, Unity Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adams Memorial Library, 1112 Ligonier St., Latrobe. The HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., Latrobe, in charge of arrangements.
