Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Anna L. Gardner

Anna L. Gardner, 69, died at her late residence on June 21, 2008. Mrs. Gardner lived in Norwood for the last 37 years. Born in Darby, Pa to Rose (Soprano) Paullin and the late Edward Paullin.

Mrs. Gardner was a graduate of Interboro High School. She was employed by Moog Components Group in Springfield, Pa. as a purchaser and formerly employed by Westinghouse Electric as a Supervisor.

Mrs. Gardner fought a valiant and strong battle with pancreatic cancer. Most importantly she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Gardner also enjoyed going with her family to the Jersey shore and in High School was voted Most Athletic. She also enjoyed her home.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Arthur J. Gardner of Norwood; her daughter, Carol (Michael) Ferkler; her two Grandchildren, Anne Marie & Samuel Jay; her sister, Dorothy Paullin Kornafel; her brothers, Alfred (Doris) Paullin of Iowa and Don Paullin of Colorado.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 A.M. at St. James Episcopal Church, 11th & Lincoln Ave, in Prospect Park, Pa. 19076. Her visitation will be on Friday evening from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at The Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa. and again on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, Pa.

Jean Conder Soule

Jean Conder Soule, 89, a resident of Riddle Village Retirement Community in Media and a former Springfield, Pa. resident, a well known poet and author of children’s books, died on June 15th at her residence.

Born in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel Conder.

Mrs. Soule graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in English and Journalism. She was a resident of Springfield, Pa. for 50 years until moving to the Riddle Village Retirement Community in Media in 1994.

Mrs. Soule first worked as an editorial assistant at the National Education Association in Washington, D.C. where she edited and proofread copies of their monthly magazine, the Journal of the NEA.

She was a well known poet and author of children’s books, having published six books for children and six books of poetry for adults and one for children. She has had many poems and short stories printed in a number of children’s magazines and anthologies.

Mrs. Soule also worked as an instructor for the Institute of Children’s Literature in West Redding, CT., for 21 years from 1978 to 1999.

Mrs. Soule was an instructor at two local writer’s conferences for many years and conducted writing seminars in area elementary schools. She was a popular author and a guest at many local libraries.

While living at Riddle Village, she continued her writing and teaching. She held a creative writing workshop once a month for residents and was a member of the editorial board of the Village Crier, the monthly magazine. She submitted poetry to the magazine and often interviewed new residents.

Mrs. Soule’s children’s book, Never Tease a Weasel, originally published in 1964, was republished in 2007.

She will be remembered as a gifted writer, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Soule is the wife of the late George H. Soule, who died in 1999.

She is survived by her sons, David Soule of Merrimac, New Hampshire and Douglas Soule of Aston; her daughter, Nancy Jean Tirrell of Birdsboro, Pa.; her seven grandchildren, and her three great-grandchildren.

Her memorial service, a holy Eucharist of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19th at 10:30 A.M. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, West Springfield and Hillcrest Roads, in Springfield, Pa. There will also be a Memorial Service held on June 27th at 11 A.M. at the Town Hall of Riddle Village, on Baltimore Pike, in Media, Pa. Her visitation will be on Thursday after 9:30 A.M. at the Parish House of the church. Her burial will be in the columbarium of the church following the service.

Charles R. "Chuck" Crane

Charles R. “Chuck” Crane, 60, a longtime resident of Prospect Park, Pa., died on June 14th at South Jersey Hospital in Elmer, N.J.

Born in Darby, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Mae Crane. Mr. Crane was a resident of Prospect Park, Pa. for most of his life. He was a 1966 graduate of Interboro High School.

In 1966 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and became crew chief of the flight line at Webb Air Force Base in Texas. He had an exemplary military record receiving many letters of commendation from his superiors. Although he was spared from duty in Vietnam, he was an asset to the base, training his men to prepare T-38’s for safe flight. He was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was employed at Philadelphia Electric operating heavy equipment in the transportation division, and received awards at PECO for a perfect driving record with no accidents in his entire career of 32 years until his retirement.

He was a longtime member of American Legion Post #507 in Norwood, Pa.

Chuck excelled in all that he did, on the football field, the baseball diamond, as a chef in the kitchen, and as a heavy equipment operator at work. Anyone who knew him, wanted Chuck on their team whether it be work or play. You could always count on him to come through in the clutch. He was always there to give support to his family.

Although he didn't have a boat or a fishing rod, he loved the shore and the ocean. Often he said he wanted to return to earth as a pelican as he loved the way they soared and hovered just above the waves.

He was a beloved companion and a devoted husband and father, always putting all others before himself.

He is survived by his wife, Holli Mills Crane; his daughters, Jennifer of Glenolden, Becky of Norwood, and Emily of Milmont Park; his brother, Harry P. “Bud” Crane of Darby; and his grandchildren, Richard and Chloe.

His memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26th, at 6 P.M. at The Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa His visitation will be on Thursday, June 26th, from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the funeral Home. His burial will be private.

Leon Siscovitz

Leon Siscovitz, 80, a longtime resident of the Ogden section of Upper Chichester Township, died on June 13th at the Heartland Hospice House in Wilmington, Delaware.

Born in Sackville, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Anna Siscovitz. He was raised in Chester. Mr. Siscovitz was a resident of the Ogden section of Upper Chichester Township since 1958.

He was employed as a stationary engineer at the Delaware County Community College for over 25 years until his retirement.

Mr. Siscovitz loved to paint and draw and loved everything about motorcycles. When he was younger, he enjoyed roller skating, and that is how he met his wife in Chester years ago. Most of all, he liked to work in his yard and was always seen tinkering with things and always trying to “fix” something.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Griffith Siscovitz; his daughter, Betty Lou McAdams of Ogden, Upper Chichester; and his grandson, Daniel McAdams of Ogden, Upper Chichester.

His funeral service and burial will be private.

Theodore T. "Dorie" Robinson

Theodore T. “Dorie” Robinson, 84, a life long resident of Prospect Park died on June 11th at Harlee Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Pa.

Born in Prospect Park, he was the son of the late George J. and Annie M. Robinson.

Mr. Robinson was a veteran of the Navy having served in WWII and the Korean War.

He served at the US Naval Communication Facility in Yokosuka, Japan, US Naval Hospital, Commander Fleet Activities in Pusan, Korea and the US Naval Receiving Station in San Francisco, California.

He worked for the US Postal Service at the Prospect Park Post Office having been a Letter Carrier for 37 years retiring in 1979.

Mr. Robinson was an active community volunteer over the years, having been the Past President of the 4th of July Assoc. in Prospect Park, being named Prospect Park Citizen of the Year in 1999, a Lifetime member of the American Legion John Wesley Post # 507 in Norwood, one of the Founders of the Prospect Park Boys Club, a 60 year member of Prospect Hill Baptist Church in Prospect Park, he served the church as a former church choir member and a Former Trustee of the Church, he was also a Past Commander of the Paterson-Hause American Legion Post # 168 in Leedom, Pa. He was a graduate of the Prospect Park High School. He was an avid walker and was a league bowler.

Mr. Robinson was pre-deceased by his sisters, Anne Hickey and Edna Robinson and his brother George J. Robinson, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Mae (nee Poole) Robinson of Prospect Park; his sons, Thomas T. (Deborah) Robinson of Norfolk, VA and Timothy J. (Laurie) Robinson of Parkesburg, Pa.; his Daughter, Linda J. (Chip) Ridewood of Glenolden, Pa. He is also survived by his Six Grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, in Norwood. His visitation will be on Saturday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. His burial will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, Pa.

Lisa Anne Bauer

Lisa Anne Bauer, 46, a resident of Ridley Park who was active in her community raising funds for local charities and was a tremendous supporter and friend to many, died on May 26th at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

Born in Darby, she was a resident of Ridley Park for the last 17 years. She was a 1980 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill.

Mrs. Bauer worked in the classroom support area at Elwyn Institute for the last six years.

She was a tremendous supporter and advocate for many charities and organizations. She was an active member and supporter of the Nassau Swim Club in Ridley Township, and played an active support role each year in the Beth O’Brien Swim-A-Thon held at the swim club each year to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She also played an active role and supported the Johns Hopkins’ Plunge for Patients mile swim held each year at Morey’s Pier in Wildwood, N.J. to support the Patient and Family Fund at Johns Hopkins that covers medical costs not covered by medical insurance. Her son Colin was an active participant in the swim.

She was a member of the St. Madeline Church parish in Ridley Park.

Mrs. Bauer was a supporter and friend to many and was always ready to help anyone in need. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt.

She is survived by her husband, Neal Bauer; her son, Colin Bauer at home in Ridley Park; her parents, Frank and Marlyn Moran of Ridley Park; her brothers, Billy Madden of Lakeland, Florida and Thomas Madden and his wife, Michele, of Ridley Park; and her niece and nephews, Carlee, Ian, Matthew, and Baby Madden.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31st, at 11 A.M.at St. Madeline Catholic Church, on Penn Street and Morton Avenue in Ridley Park. Her visitation will take place on Saturday, May 31st, from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her burial will be private.

Nancy J. Felker

Nancy J. Felker, 72, a retired social worker who was a skilled counselor, therapist, and mentor to many and a resident of Chadds Ford, Pa. for many years, died on May 18th at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pa.

Born in Tinicum Township, she was the daughter of the late David and Helen Hughes. She was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and then received her masters degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Work graduate program.

She was a resident of Chadds Ford for 34 years, having lived in Ridley Park, Pa. for 17 years before that.

Mrs. Felker was first employed as a social worker with the Lutheran Children and Family Services in Philadelphia for 35 years. She then began employment with the Diocese of Wilmington/ Catholic Charities in 1982 as a part-time, then permanent social worker. She was a stable and professional presence at Catholic Charities for 16 years retiring in 1998 as a clinical worker. Not ready to completely retire, Mrs. Felker worked as a Fee for Service Group Facilitator with Domestic Violence clients until May, 2006. She was a skilled and professional counselor and therapist to many people, and was a mentor to many of her professional colleagues. She was always the dedicated child advocate with organizations she worked with. Mrs. Felker was a member of the Academy of Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers.

Mrs. Felker was a longtime member of St. John’s Tinicum Lutheran Church in Essington, Tinicum Township, and served the church in many capacities over the years including serving on the Church Council as Secretary.

Mrs. Felker was known for her candy making, which she did with her late husband, John, and her son, John. It was a family project. She received many orders for her candy without ever advertising; and they often donated their candy to the American Heart Association for their fundraising projects.

Mrs. Felker enjoyed doing all types of crafts in her spare time.

Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, and friend to many.

Mrs. Felker is the wife of the late John W. Felker, who died in March of this year.

She is survived by her son, John W. Felker, Jr. of Chadds Ford, Pa.; and her brother, David Hughes of Indiana, Pa.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7th, at 11 A.M. at St. John’s Tinicum Lutheran Church, 601 Seneca Street, in Essington, Pa. Her visitation will be on Saturday, June 7th, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the church. Her burial will be private.

John David "Dave" Lambert

John David “Dave” Lambert, 82, a longtime resident of Prospect Park who was retired from the U.S. Army Reserves and worked as an advertising copywriter, computer programmer, a teacher, and was a published humorist, died on May 19th at the Taylor Hospice Residence in Ridley Park.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Esther Lambert. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army, and then he served in the U.S. Army Reserves for many years until his retirement in 1985 having attained the rank of Major.

Mr. Lambert first worked in the advertising department at Sunoco for a number of years before then working as a math and science teacher locally at Collingdale High School. Mr. Lambert was a computer programmer for PSFS for many years until his retirement.

Mr. Lambert loved to write and was known for his wonderful sense of humor and last year published his first book titled, “Glovebox Joke Circus”, which is full of jokes, riddles, and nonsense.

He was a 55 year member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Prospect Park, and served church in many capacities over the years.

Mr. Lambert was a volunteer at the “Loaves and Fishes” Food Pantry in Prospect Park and was also a volunteer with “Contact Philadelphia”, a phone crisis hotline that he worked many hours including holidays for 25 years.

He loved trips with his family to the Jersey Shore, and also loved camping. He camped for 35 consecutive years, logging 150 trips under canvas and small travel trailers.

Mr. Lambert was a member of the Delaware County Writers’ Club and the Delaware County Toastmasters.

Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Lambert is the husband of the late Carolyn Rose Lambert, who died in 2004.

He is survived by his son, Jack Lambert of Prospect Park; his daughter, Kathleen Stillman of Honey Brook, Pa.; his brothers, Robert Lambert of West Chester, Richard Lambert of Western Australia, and James Lambert of Lexington, MA.; his five grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Christine, James, and Philip; and his one great-granddaughter, Bianca.

His memorial service will be on Friday, May 23rd, at 12 Noon at Prospect United Methodist Church, 8th & Lincoln Avenues, in Prospect Park. The family will receive friends on Friday at the church immediately following the service. His burial was private at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer.

Norma G. Cimino

Norma G. Cimino, 85, an active church member and community volunteer who lived in Glenolden, died on May 14th at her late residence.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Minor and Gertrude Mallory. She was a resident of Glenolden for the last 22 years, having lived in Delaware County for 58 years.

When she worked at times during her life, she was employed as a cashier at various retail stores in the area, including Strawbridges, Woolco, and Burpees. She was proud of the fact she was trusted with handling other people’s money wherever she worked.

Mrs. Cimino was a longtime active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood, where she sang for many years in the choir and served the church in various capacities over the years.

Mrs. Cimino was an active community volunteer over the years, having been an original Grey Lady and then volunteering with the Red Cross. She also was active with the Girl Scouts and Brownies, and was a volunteer for a period of time in the Burn Unit at the former Philadelphia Naval Hospital and was a volunteer at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

She enjoyed bowling and knitting and sewing, and was known for her cross-stitch work. Mrs. Cimino was always seen reading and constantly working on her cross word puzzles, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved to travel, but most of all, she was always ready to help people in any way she could, including driving friends wherever they needed to be.

Most importantly, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Mrs. Cimino is the wife of the late John Cimino, who died in 2004. She is also predeceased by her two sisters, Doris Piper and Margaret Winnemore.

She is survived by her four daughters, Linda Heath of Everett, Pa., Nancy Clark of Folsom, Ridley Township, Joan Osborne of Glenolden, and Betsy Allan of Swedesboro, N.J.; her son, John Cimino of Newfield, N.J.; her 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-granddaughter.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 A.M. at The Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Monday from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private.

Wilberta Felker

Wilberta Felker, 97, a longtime resident of Essington, Tinicum Township, died on May 13th at her daughter’s home in West Chester.

Born in Beaver Meadow, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Margaret Thomas. Mrs. Felker was a resident of the Essington section of Tinicum Township since 1944.

She was a member of St. John’s Tinicum Lutheran Church in Essington for many years. Mrs. Felker was also a member of the former Prospect Chapter #301, Order of the Eastern Star, and was currently a member of the Friendship Chapter.

Mrs. Felker loved to knit and crochet, and was known for her many fine works, and especially for the dresses that she made for dolls.

Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Felker is the wife of the late John F. Felker, who died in 1982. She is also predeceased by her son, John W. Felker, who died in March of this year.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret E. “Peggy” Agliano and her husband, William, of West Chester; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Felker of Chadds Ford; and her grandson, John W. Felker, Jr. of Chadds Ford.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, PA. Her visitation will be on Tuesday evening, May 20th, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill.
