Robert J. 'Bob' Dougherty

Robert J. “Bob” Dougherty, 48, of Media, Pa. died on August 1, 2009 in Norwood, Pa.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Bob was a graduate of the Upper Darby High School.

He was formerly employed by Modell’s Sporting Goods .

Bob was a avid Philadelphia sports fan following the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies. He was also an avid music lover of Rock N Roll, and spending time with his friends.

He was the son of the late Harry and Theresa Dougherty.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Dougherty of Clifton Heights, Pa.; is sons, Robert Dougherty of Clifton Heights, Pa., and Collin Dougherty of Brookhaven, Pa.; his brothers, Dennis Dougherty of Wilmington, Delaware; Michael Dougherty of Treasure Island, FL; Patrick Dougherty of Jeffersonville, Pa; his sisters, Maryann Dougherty and Kathleen Fenn both St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.

His memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 13th at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike in Norwood. His visitation will be on Thursday from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. at the funeral home. His burial will be private.

Mary E. 'Bette' Rensel

Mary E. "Bette" Rensel, 83, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died on July 25th at Naaman's Creek Country Manor in Bethel Township.

Born and raised in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Winifred Holscher and was a resident of Springfield all of her life. She was a graduate of Springfield High School.
Mrs. Rensel was employed as a bookkeeper at Borden Van Allen Oil Co. in Morton for a number of years until her retirement. She was an avid reader, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Holscher, by her sisters, Belle Davidson and Ruth Mallory and her former husband Paul R. Rensel.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Rensel of Wiesloch, Germany; her sons, Kenneth Rensel of Springfield and Larry Rensel of Logan Township, N.J.; her brother, Jerry Holscher of Ohio; her five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her great-great-granddaughter.

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30th, at 7:30 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Thursday from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private.

Jeffrey 'Jeff' McKinney
Jeffrey "Jeff" McKinney, 33, a resident of Media who was a licensed EMT living life to its fullest and known for his practical jokes; died on July 8th at his residence.

Born and raised in Yuba City, Cal., he became a resident of Philadelphia in 2002 and then moved to Media in 2006. He was a graduate of the Redding Fire Academy at Mount Shasta College. He was currently employed as an Ortho-Technician at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and was a licensed EMT with the Swarthmore Fire Company. Previously, he worked as an EMT with American Medical Response.
Jeff was involved with the medical emergency service all of his life, having been a member of the Swarthmore Fire Company and before that with the Folcroft Fire Company. While living out west, he was a member of the Fernley Fire Company and the Olivehurst Fire Company.

Jeff was an avid baseball fan and was especially a fan of the San Francisco Giants. He had traveled to many of the baseball stadiums around the country, baseball was truly a passion for him. He enjoyed all kinds of music, and loved to quote famous lines from movies he had seen. Most of all, he will be remembered as a practical joker to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

He was predeceased by a brother, John Irick.
He is survived by his mother, Pamela Irick of Fernley, Nevada; his father, John Irick of Oak Harbor, Washington; his fiancee, Katie Zolinas of Vorhees, N.J.; his sisters, Denise Williams of Oak Harbor, Washington and Kerri Murphy of Wilmington, Delaware; his brother, Jason Irick of Yuba City, California; his grandmother, Marie Sprauge of Live Oak, California; and his aunts and uncles.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15th at 2 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. His visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the funeral home. His burial will be private.

Suzanne Dombrow Talotta Hale

Suzanne Dombrow Talotta Hale, 48, a resident of Folsom, Ridley Township for most of her life, died on July 5th at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

Born in Ridley Park, she was a resident of Folsom, Ridley Township for most of her life and was a graduate of Ridley Township High School and attended Widener University and Penn State University- Delaware County Campus.

Her employment over the years included cooking and working as a receptionist at a medical office. Suzanne was a talented artist who was skilled in sketching, drawing, and painting. She enjoyed cooking and was known as a gourmet cook; and was interested in American Indian Lore and always was listening to Irish Folk music.

Suzanne will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

She is the daughter of the late George J. Dombrow.

She is survived by her children, Michael J. Scavitto of Delaware, Adam Scavitto of Montgomery County, Jessica A. Talotta of Philadelphia, Jacqueline E. Talotta and Nicholas Talotta both of Folsom, Ridley Township; her mother, Ruth Dombrow of Folsom, Pa; her sisters, Denise A. Murphy of Florida, and Patricia S. DeAugustine of Lancaster County; her brother, George D. Dombrow of Cecil County, Maryland; and her two grandchildren, Madeline and Casey.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 9th at 7:30 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. Her visitation will be on Thursday from 6 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private.

Wesley A. 'Wes' Eckenroth

Wesley A. “Wes” Eckenroth, 64, a resident of Glenolden, died on July 5th at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Born in Darby, he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy Eckenroth. Mr. Eckenroth was a resident of Glenolden for the last 25 years.

He was employed as a crew foreman with Peco for 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Eckenroth was a avid golfer and played whenever he could, and also loved to shoot pool and participated in local leagues. He was also known for his admiration and enjoyment of classic cars.

Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted son, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessi Fedin, Sandi Donato, and Chris Eckenroth all of Havertown; his son, Steve Eckenroth of Drexel Hill; his sisters, Nancy Monson of Texas and Sue Fulmer of Souderton, Pa.; his brother, Larry Eckenroth of Barboursville, Virginia and his five grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. His visitation will be on Thursday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. His burial will be Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in King of Prussia.

Frank L. Ballinger

Frank L. Ballinger, 80, a longtime resident of Darby, died on July 3rd at the Taylor Hospice Residence in Ridley Park.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Ballinger. Mr. Ballinger was a resident of Darby for the last 55 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Ballinger was employed as a machine operator at Scott Paper Co. for 36 years until his retirement in 1991.

He always enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Erna Ballinger; his daughter, Doris Gambardella of Aldan; his son, Frank R. Ballinger of Golden, Colorado; his Six Grandchildren, and his Two Great-grandchildren.

His funeral service and burial will be private.

James David "Jimbo" Willis, Sr.

James David “Jimbo” Willis, Sr., 61, a resident of Cochranville, Chester County, and a former resident of Tinicum Township, died on June 30th at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland.

Born and raised in Chester, he was a resident of Chester County for the last ten years, and resided in Tinicum Township for most of his life before that.

Mr. Willis worked in construction for the last then ten years in Chester County, and prior to that worked in hydro blasting at Tech- Service in Chester for a number of years.

He was an avid fisherman, and fished the Chesapeake Bay on boats out of Tollchester, Maryland, catching many large rockfish over the years. He was always seen at the softball games at the Kennett Square leagues. He was devoted to his family, but especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, James David Willis, Jr. of Cochranville; Kevin Willis of Beauford, S.C., Steve Willis of Oxford, Pa., Robert Willis of Garnet Valley, Joseph Willis of West Grove, and William David Willis of Essington, Tinicum Township, his brothers, Frank Willis of Ridley Township and Joseph Willis of Wildwood, N.J.; his sisters, Marie Brown of Ridley Township and Verna Miller of of Oxford, Pa., and Beverly Carey of Rising Sun, Maryland; his 17 grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Monday at 7:30 P.M. at The Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. His visitation will be on Monday from 6 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. His burial will be private.

Harold W. "PeeWee" "Smitty" Smith, III

Harold W. "PeeWee" "Smitty" Smith, III, 64, of Cape Coral, Florida and a former lifelong resident of Darby and Norwood, died on June 24th at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Florida.

Born in Upper Darby, he was a lifelong resident of Darby and Norwood before moving to Cape Coral, Florida 15 years ago. He attended Blessed Virgin Mary School in Darby and St. Gabriel's School in Norwood.
Mr. Smith worked as a mechanic at Nick's Arco and the Firestone Store both in Darby for many years before owning his own business in Darby and then in Prospect Park before retiring.

He had a continual love for cars and working on cars and always watched Monday Night Wrestling.
He is the son of the late Harold W. Smith, Jr, and is predeceased by his brother, John F. Smith, and his sisters, Jeannette M. Pohlig and
Yvonne C. Lloyd.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; his daughter, Charlene L. Daley of Essington, Tinicum Township; his sons, James M. Smith of Naples, Florida and Harold "PJ" Smith, IV of Lehigh Acres, Florida; his mother, Claudia Smith Scully of Prospect Park; his sister, Claudia "Mickey" Twine of Fort Myers, Florida; his seven grandchildren; and his great-grandson.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2nd, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood. His visitation will be on Thursday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home. His burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marple Township.

Carolyn J. 'Carol' Bimler

Carolyn J. “Carol” Bimler, 50, a resident of Ridley Park and former resident of Sharon Hill, died on June 12th at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

Born in Darby and raised in Sharon Hill where she lived until moving to Ridley Park three years ago, she was a graduate of the former Sharon Hill High School.

Miss Bimler was the Activities Director at Plush Mills Assisted Living in Wallingford until becoming ill. She worked before that for a number of years as Activities Director at Little Flower Manor in Darby.

Miss Bimler participated in many activities at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Darby. Besides spending time with her daughter and her family, she especially enjoyed fishing.

She is the daughter of the late Daniel K. Bimler, Sr.; and is also predeceased by her brothers, Daniel K. Bimler, Jr. and Joseph Bimler.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelby Chorney of Ridley Park; her mother, Eleanore Pavlick Bimler of Sharon Hill; her sisters, Deborah Gallagher of Norwood, Susanne Kuhn of Springfield, and Cynthia Donato of Folsom, Ridley Township; and her nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20th, at 10 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, on Sharon Avenue, in Sharon Hill. Her burial will be private.

Rex 'Sam' Inglis Gary, Jr.

Rex "Sam" Inglis Gary, Jr., 85, a longtime resident of Swarthmore, Pa., who was a former outstanding college athlete, veteran of two wars, and businessman, died on June 6th at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pa.

Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, he was the son of the late Rex and Mary Gary. He was a 1942 graduate of Swarthmore High School and after one semester at Swarthmore College, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Japan during World War II having been discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant. After the war, he went back to Swarthmore and graduated from Swarthmore College in January, 1949. At Swarthmore College he was an outstanding athlete, having played football, basketball, and track. He especially excelled in football and was named to the Little All-American Football Team.
He married Eunice Rohland on May 20, 1950. Mr. Gary was recalled into the service during the Korean War in 1951 and served in Okinawa. He moved back to Swarthmore in 1956.

He worked in sales for RCA, Philco, and Fisher & Porter before starting his own scientific glassware company, Glastron, Inc., in 1969. He ran the company for 40 years until his death.
Mr. Gary was a dedicated member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Swarthmore, where he served as an usher and a Sunday School teacher.

He was active in his community volunteering as a Scout Leader and a coach in youth sports including football, basketball, and baseball. He also served for a period of time as the President of the Swarthmore Swim Club.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr Gary is predeceased by a son, Brad Gary, and a brother, James Gary.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Gary; his son, Rex R. Gary of Media; his daughter-in-law, Nancy Gary of Media; his brother, Joseph Gary of LaQuita, Cal.; his sister, Mary Hanlon of Jackson Hole, Wy.; and his granddaughter, Taylor Gary.

His Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 12th, at 11 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 301 N. Chester Road, in Swarthmore, Pa. 19081. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Burial will follow in the Memorial Garden of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Robert Thomas "Bob" Aughe

Robert Thomas “Bob” Aughe, 64, a resident of Woodlyn, Ridley Township, Pa., died on June 5th at the Taylor Hospice Residence in Ridley Park, Pa.

Born in Upper Darby, he was the son of the late Cecelia and Edward Aughe. He was a resident of Woodlyn for the last 14 years, having lived in West Chester before that.

He was employed as the salon coordinator at the Eclipse Salon in Paoli for a number of years until his retirement. Mr. Aughe was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church in Springfield and was a Mason, member of Prospect Lodge # 578 F.& A.M. in Prospect Park. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed golf and hockey. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grand-father.

He is survived by his wife, Dona Ladley-Aughe; and his six children; Denise France of Aston, Thomas Potter of Woodlyn, Robert Aughe of Clarkson, MI, Thomas Aughe of Springfield, Pa., Michael Aughe of Lexington Park, MD, and April Tapper of West Chester; his sister, Phyllis O’Neill of Drexel Hill; his brothers, Edward Aughe of Parkesburg, and William Aughe of Florida; and his eight grandchildren, Alexis, Haley, Zach, Christian, Brendan, Tara, Abby, and Conner.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 11th, at 11 A.M. at Springfield Baptist Church, 184 N. Norwinden Drive, in Springfield, Pa. 19064. There will be a visitation period on Thursday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill.

Roselise H. 'Rosie' Wilkinson, M.D.

Roselise H. “Rosie” Wilkinson, M.D., 81, a longtime resident of Swarthmore, Pa., a compassionate and dedicated physician who retired as the Medical Director of the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Wyndmoor, Pa., Died on May 27th at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Born in Bloomsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Frederick Holmes and the late Mary Holmes. She attended Sweetbriar College and Temple University School of Medicine, where she met her husband and they married in 1952. After Graduating in 1953, they served their internships and residencies at the Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island; She was their first female intern and the first female intern to go out on the hospital’s ambulance service.

Dr. Wilkinson was a resident of Swarthmore for the last 53 years, practicing medicine first as a volunteer at the United Cerebral Palsy clinic in Chester and then later at the Well Baby Clinic operated by the state in Chester and Sharon Hill.

In 1964, Dr. Wilkinson began working at Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential. She retired 34 years later as its Medical Director, having traveled with the Institutes to many countries, including Japan, Italy, Australia, England, Ireland, and Mexico. She also spent several weeks with the Xingu Indians in Brazil.

She was a member of the Medical Staff at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park since 1956. She was a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Delaware County Medical Society.

Dr. Wilkinson was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Swarthmore, Pa., where she sang in the choir for many Years. She served on the Vestry and as the Rector’s Warden. She also completed an Education for Ministry program from the School of Theology of the University of the South.

She thoroughly enjoyed classical music and attended the Philadelphia Orchestra Concerts for 50 years as well as the opera, and was known for her horticultural knowledge and fondness for gardening. Dr. Wilkinson was an avid reader and had traveled Extensively throughout the world with her husband, family, and friends.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; as well as a compassionate and dedicated physician.

Dr. Wilkinson was predeceased by her brother, Delfred Holmes.

She is survived by her husband, Harold A. Wilkinson, M.D., a well known retired family physician; her sons, Paul Wilkinson and Russell Wilkinson both of Swarthmore; her daughter, Lynn W. Nichols of Broomall; her sister, Joselle Holmes of Hyannis, Mass.; and her five grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12th, at 1 P.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 301 N. Chester Road, in Swarthmore. Burial in the church memorial garden will immediately follow the service. There will be a reception for family and friends in the church immediately following the burial

Christina "Chris" Csepi

Christina “Chris” Csepi, 94, a resident of Norwood, a retired licensed practical nurse, died May 26th at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

Born in Hungary, Mrs. Csepi was a resident of Cleveland for many years before moving to Ridley Park, where she lived from 1986 to 1989.

Mrs. Csepi worked at hospitals in the Cleveland area from 1964 to 1972.

She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood and the Schoolhouse Senior Center in the Folsom section of Ridley Township.

She is survived by her son, Louis Csepi of Norwood; daughter, Martha Nadwodny of California; her nine grandchildren; and her three Great-grandchildren.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 31st, at 3 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike in Norwood. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private.
