Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Dorothy "Dot" McGuigon

Dorothy “Dot” McGuigon, 86, a longtime resident of Norwood, died on March 23, 2013 at her residence.

Born in Belsano, Pa., Dot was a resident of Norwood since 1955.

She was a longtime member of Norwood United Methodist Church.

She is the wife of the late Charles McGuigon.

Dot was a devoted wife and a loving mother.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda McGuigon of Evansburg, Pa. and Bonny Mabee (Philip) of Southwest Philadelphia, and one son, Bruce W. McGuigon of Norwood; and her three grandchildren, Bonnie Walters, John J. Lynch, and Elizabeth A. Lynch; and four great-grandchildren.

Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd at 1:30 P.M. at Edgewood Memorial Park.

Memorials to: Norwood United Methodist Church, 315 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa. 19074.

Vivian Agnes Brockson

Vivian Agnes Brockson, (nee Healy), 81, a longtime resident of Prospect Park, passed away on March 20, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Vivian Healy.

Vivian was a resident of Prospect Park since 1967.

She was an avid reader in her spare time and was known for her skill in cross-stitch and macramé. She enjoyed swimming whenever she could. She will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her family.

Vivian was the wife of the late James F. Brockson, who died in 2012.

She was the loving mother of James (Maureen) Brockson, Joyce (Ken) Armstrong, Lynn Gallo, and Father Scott Brockson. She is also survived by her brother, Jack (Ann) Healy; her 10 grandchildren; and her 4 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 25 th, at 12 Noon at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. Her visitation will be on Monday from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon at the funeral home. Her burial will be in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Marple Township.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Vivian’s memory to the Prospect Park Free Library, 720 Maryland Ave, Prospect Park, Pa. 19076 would be appreciated.

Doris C. Avioli

Doris C. Avioli, 93, a former resident of Havertown, died on March 16, 2013 at the Taylor Hospice House in Ridley Park surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Elkton, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Fannie Mae Baker. Doris was a resident of Havertown for 48 years.

She will be remembered for her beautiful gardens around her home, especially her beautiful roses; and her love for her dogs who were her constant companions.

Doris was the wife of the late Michael Avioli and was predeceased by her son, Raymond.

She is survived by her daughter Toni Quirk and her husband, George; her son Michael Avioli and his companion, Connie Hanson; her grandchildren Michelle Nevin and her husband Ron, and Joseph Quirk and his wife Kelly; and her great-grandchildren Jennifer and Ashley Nevin.

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 21st, at 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074. Her visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Her burial will be private.

Cathryn Scott

Cathryn Scott, age 95, passed away on March 13, 2013. Cathryn was the second of four children born to Ukrainian immigrant parents in their new world home in Pennsylvania. She prospered in their close-knit community, but found the love of her life in an immigrant Scotsman named Tom. Together they raised three sons and forged a multifaceted life that focused on educational achievement and travel—values that their sons have continued to embrace throughout their lives. Cathryn suffered the loss of her husband 32 years ago, and of her eldest son 9 years ago. Despite these trials and the incursion of advancing age, Cathryn remained the focal point of her far-flung family, cherished to the last. She is survived by her sister and brother, 2 sons and their spouses, 3 grandchildren and their spouses, and 5 great-grandsons. She will be missed.

A visitation period will take place for Cathryn on Friday, March 22nd, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa.

A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, March 23rd, at 11 A.M. at Lawn Croft Cemetery, on Ridge Road, in Linwood, Pa. with her burial to follow the service.

Charles L. "Chuck" Pedrick, Jr.

Charles L. “Chuck” Pedrick, Jr., 81, a resident of Upper Chichester, died on August 23, 2013 at Crozer-Keystone Hospice at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Upland, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Evelyn Pedrick. He was a resident of Upper Chichester and a former resident of Concord Township. Chuck was a graduate of Ridley Township High School, where he lettered in three sports. He then attended and graduated from Cheyney University.

He was employed at the Sun Oil Refinery in Marcus Hook for 25 years and then went on to teach social studies at the William Penn School District for 25 years until his retirement and coached baseball and football at the school. He also coached football at Cardinal O’Hara High School during this time.

Active in local community youth sports, Chuck was one of the founders of the Brandywine Youth Club where he served as President and a coach. He was also a coach with Chichester Youth Softball.

Recognized for his service to youth sports, he received the Andrew McMurtry Sportsman of the Year Award from the Delaware County Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.

Chuck served as an Elder and was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Boothwyn for a number of years and then was a longtime member of Elam United Methodist Church in Glen Mills for many years.

He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Mary Aull, and his great granddaughter, Olivia Williams.

Survivors: His loving wife, Nancy Rodisch Pedrick; his children, Charles Pedrick (Janet), Susan Werner (Kevin), Gary Pedrick (Joan), Tracey Wesolowski (David), Kelli Farrell (Joseph), Elaine Rogers (Brian), and Jane Aull (Raymond); his sister, Evelyn Peisochenski; his 19 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service: Will be held on Thursday, August 29th, at 11am at the Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, in Glen Mills.

Visitation: Will be on Wednesday, August 28th, from 5pm to 8pm and on Thursday from 10am to 11am at the church.

Burial: Will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Aston.

Donna D. Dougherty

Donna D. Dougherty (nee Francis), 69, of Folcroft, died Monday Aug. 12, 2013 at home.

Born on Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of Raymond Francis (deceased) and Eleanor Hoose; the sister of Stephen Francis (deceased) and Doreen Francis-Street; the mother of Tracy Wynn Dougherty (deceased).

She is survived by her loving husband Thomas; her son Scott and his wife Sandra; her daughter Nadine; and her grandchildren Sean, Contessa, Shadina, and Wayne Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service Saturday 11 am, at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA where friends may call after 10am.

Interment is Private

Noreen M. Wiseley

Noreen M. Wiseley (nee Lamont), 56, of Norwood died Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Prospect Park Health and Rehab.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James and Nora Moran Lamont, Jr.

She is survived by her 4 children, Noreen (Ty) Montalvo-Alexander of Las Vegas, Edward Wiseley of Las Vegas, Sarah Wiseley of Clifton Heights, and Jason Wiseley of Fort Carson, CO; 5 sisters, Elizabeth Pedano, Patricia (Matthew) Burke, Donna (William) Bevilacqua, Charlotte (Guy) Alloway, Susan (Karl) Winstel; and 1 brother, Thomas J. (Lynne) Lamont. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren

Relatives and Friends are invited to the Funeral Service 11 A.M. Saturday at Prospect Hill Baptist Church, 703 Lincoln Ave., Prospect Park, where friends may call after 10 A.M.

Her interment will be Private

Thomas W. Griffin

Thomas W. Griffin, 85, of Wallingford, formerly of Grace Park, Ridley Township, died Monday, August 5, 2013 at home surrounded by family.

Born at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ella Mae Gardy Griffin.

Mr. Griffin had been employed by Westinghouse Electric Co., from which he retired in 1987 after 39 years of service.

He was a member of Wallingford Presbyterian Church. He had been a member of Leiper Presbyterian Church in Ridley Twp. for over 57 years before its closure, serving as an elder and a deacon.

Mr. Griffin was a member of Schoolhouse Senior Center in Folsom for over 20 years. He had served as president, vice-president, treasurer, and financial secretary at Schoolhouse Advisory Council and as Honorary Director of Senior Community Services.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Josephine Larney Griffin, and his brothers, Gene and Chet Griffin.

His is survived by his wife of 11 years, Betty Capurso Griffin; his children, Rebecca J. (Charles) Goff of Salida, CO, Kathleen S. (the late Thomas) Moore of Oxford, and Thomas J. (Michele) Griffin of Norwood; and his brother, Clyde C. Griffin of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and two step children Vincent and Mary Capurso.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service 11 a.m. Saturday at Wallingford Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Brookhaven Rd., Wallingford, where friends may call after 10 a.m.

Interment at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Schoolhouse Senior Center Building Fund, 600 Swarthmore Ave., Folsom, PA 19033 would be appreciated.

Clara Florence "Auntie" Scarinci

Clara Florence “Auntie” (nee Naylor) Scarinci, 81, a longtime resident of Collingdale, and the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Scarinci, Jr. passed away peacefully on August 4, 2013 at her home.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Alfred and Alma Naylor. “Auntie” was a homemaker. She was an avid reader and animal advocate, donating to many animal rescue organizations. She was also a very independent and strong person with a healthy sense of humor. One of the biggest enjoyments in her life came from spending time with her animals.

Survivors: Her siblings; Alma May Batty, Thomas Naylor, Elenore Blatt, James Naylor, Shirley Haughton, Robert Naylor and many nieces and nephews.

Services and Interment : Private

In lieu of flowers: Memorial donations in Florence’s name to the SPCA, 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, Pa. 19063 would be deeply appreciated by her family
