Bernice Suball Ash

Bernice Suball Ash passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2013 in her 86 th year. Loving wife of 50 years of the late Mike W. Ash. Beloved mother of daughters Lois Ash Bondarchuk, Merri Ash, Nancy Ash Hay, Bonnie Ash, and adopted son Joseph Vera. Daughter of the late Anne and Morris Suball, Bernice was born on January 8, 1927.

After raising her daughters, she began her career as a dental office manager. Bernice was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing mah jongg, bingo, and volunteering at the library.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 22 nd, at 12:30 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074 followed by interment at Roosevelt Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring staff at Crossroads.

Ellen M. Natoli

Ellen M. Natoli, 93, a resident of the Lester section of Tinicum Township, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2013 surrounded by her family at the Crozer-Keystone Hospice Residence at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth D’Ettore. She was a resident of Lester for the last 20 years.

Ellen was employed as a rate clerk for State Farm Insurance Company for 23 years until her retirement.

She was the wife of the late Frank Natoli, who died in 1982. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Gregory Natoli and her daughter-in-law Bonnie Natoli.

SURVIVORS: Her sons, Frank Natoli and Joseph (Terry) Natoli; her grandchildren, Joseph and Tracie; and her great-grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, and Angela.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Friday, December 27 th, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074

VISITATION: Will be on Friday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be in Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield.

Nancy Day Frederick

Nancy Day Frederick, 82, a longtime resident of Ridley Park, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 5, 2013 at the Taylor Hospice House in Ridley Park.

Born in Pottsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence Day.

Nancy was employed as a secretary at the Leedom Elementary School of the Ridley School District for many years until her retirement in 1994. She was a longtime devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood. She was also a longtime member of the Ridley Environmental Board for many years. Nancy will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her home and family.

SURVIVORS: her husband of 62 years, Edward W. Frederick; her daughters, Diane Weatherill; Janice Kintsche (Joseph); and Nancy Duffy (Daniel); her sister, Annetta Cullen; her four grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Wednesday, December 11 th, at 11 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074

VISITATION: Will be on Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the church.

BURIAL: Will be private.

CONTRIBUTIONS: In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Nancy’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church at the above address or to Taylor Hospice, P.O. Box 147, Ridley Park, Pa. 19078 would be appreciated.

Alfreda M. Rydenbark

Alfreda M. Rydenbark, 82, of the Essington section of Tinicum Township and a former longtime resident of Prospect Park, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2013 at the Broomall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Marple Township.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Shustock.

Alfreda was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park for over 30 years until her retirement. She was an avid reader, but above all, she will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her home and family.

She was the wife of the late Joseph L. Rydenbark, who died in 1977. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Daniel Rydenbark.

SURVIVORS: Her daughter, Margi (Joe) Twardus; her sons, Curt (Kathy) Rydenbark and John Rydenbark; her sister, Mary Shustock; and her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL MASS: Will be celebrated on Friday, December 6th, at 11 A.M. at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church, Wanamaker Ave. and Gov. Printz Blvd. in Essington, Pa. 19029.

VISITATION: Will be on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074.

BURIAL: Will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Patricia E. "Pat" Bender

Patricia E. “Pat” Bender, 68, a resident of the Lester section of Tinicum Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 26, 2013 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

Born in Ridley Park, she was the daughter of Edward and Myrtle Yankonis, Sr.

Pat was employed as a bank officer for 34 years retiring from Wells Fargo Bank in Philadelphia.

She enjoyed reading in her spare time, but most of all, she will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her home and family.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Richard Bender; her daughter, Carolyn Bender; her sister Irene Rasmussen; and her brother, Robert Yankonis.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa.

VISITATION: Will be on Tuesday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be private.

Rose K. Lake

Rose K. Lake, 95, a resident of Middletown Township and a former resident of Ridley Park, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2013 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Guardino. She was a longtime resident of Ridley park before moving to Middletown Township 14 years ago.

Rose will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her home and family.

She was the wife of the late Harry O. Lake, who died in 2007.

SURVIORS: Her daughter, Carole Barnhart; her son, Richard (Nyla) Lake; her sister, Marie; and her nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her five great-great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Monday, December 2 nd, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike in Norwood, Pa.

VISITATION: Will be on Monday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be in Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pa.

CONTRIBUTIONS: Made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106 would be appreciated.

Sallie M. Burns Hooks

Sallie M. Burns Hooks, 80, entered into peaceful rest on November 17, 2013 at the Sterling Health & Rehabilitation Center in Media, PA.

Born in Cheraw, SC, Sallie was the daughter of the late Vander Burns and Claudia Walls Burns. Sallie worked for a number of years at the former Alpine Inn in Springfield. She will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her family.

She was predeceased by her son, Robert Hooks, and her two grandsons, John Everett Hooks and Lil’ Bobby Morgan.

Survivors: She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Gloria Hooks, Linda (George) Hudson, Terry Hooks, Renee (Rodney) Powell, and Cloudie Hooks; her three sons, John E. (Ruby) Hooks, Phillip Hooks, and Ronnie Hooks; her two sisters, Gracie Sellers and Gladys (Paul) Hooks; her three brothers, Jimmie (Suzie) Burns, Eddie (Gertrude) Burns, and Wilbert (Hettie) Burns; her 27 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 23 rd at 11 a.m. at the Faith Tabernacle Church, 509 W. Third Street, Chester, PA 19013.

The Viewing will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in historic Eden Cemetery in Collingdale.

Joan Fay (Wagner) Linder

Joan Fay (Wagner) Linder passed away on November 12, 2013 at Paoli Memorial Hospital.

In her youth, she grew up in Folcroft and was a graduate of Sharon Hill High School. After graduating, Joan worked for Baldt Anchor in Chester for a number of years. Joan was the loving wife of Gerald H. Linder. They lived in Prospect Park for many years until retiring, when they moved to Elverson, Pa.

Since moving to Elverson, Joan was an active member of the “Friends of the Ammon P. Stoltzfus Community Center”, where she also wrote articles regularly for the community newsletter, “Over the Garden Wall.” She was also a member of the Activities Committee at the community center.

Joan was the daughter of Kenneth W. and Dorothy L. (Cox) Wagner. Joan was predeceased by her sisters, Gloria G. Hewitt and Arlene M. Cusumano.

SURVIVORS: Her husband Gerald H. Linder and her brother, Kenneth W. Wagner (Linda) who lives in Aston.

FUNERAL SERVICE AND BURIAL: Will be private.

Charles J. "Chuck" Manny

Charles J. “Chuck” Manny, 58, a resident of Stanton, Delaware and former resident of Glenolden, Pa., died on November 1, 2013 at Christiana Hospital in Christiana, Delaware.

Chuck was a resident of Stanton, Delaware for 30 years having lived in Glenolden, Pa. prior to that. He was a 1973 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School.

Chuck was a proud member of Ironworkers Union Local #401. He was an avid lover of all sports, but especially baseball.

SURVIVORS: His sons, Charles G. Manny and Brett J. Manny; his brother, David L. Manny; his sister, Gail McGowan; his grandchildren, Brooke J. Manny and Brinley Elizabeth Manny; and his loving companion, Carmelyn Burke.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike in Norwood, Pa. 19074.

VISITATION: Will be on Thursday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be private.

Pauline A. Williams

Pauline A. Williams, 77, a resident of Norwood and former resident of Essington, Tinicum Township, died on October 26, 2013 at The Wallingford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford, Pa.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Porter.

Pauline was employed as a supervisor at the J.C Penny Catalogue Store for a number years before retirement. She was an active volunteer for many years at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.

Pauline was the wife of the late George F. Williams, Jr.

SURVIVORS: Her sons, Peter McGroarty, Steven McGroarty, and Patrick McGroarty; her step-daughter, Brenda; her brother, Edwin Porter; her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, at 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa.

VISITATION: Will be on Saturday from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be private.
