Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

V. Lynn Dussell

V. Lynn Dussell, age 64 died October 9, 2013 at Taylor Hospice. Born in Phila. to the late Bud and Myra Dussell, she was a graduate of Interboro High School and had been a resident of Eddystone for 35 years. She worked for the last 18 years as a waitress at Denney’s Restaurant in Essington. Ms. Dussell was a former member of Folsom VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure she enjoyed Bingo and was an avid Phillies fan.

She is survived by her sisters Myra (the late George) Everett, Diane (Bill) Stein, Sarah (Hank) Smith, Deborah Dussell, Sue (John) Moffett; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood where there will be a viewing after 9:30 AM. Burial Chester Rural Cemetery.

June A. Rodgers

June A. Rodgers, 81, a longtime resident of Norwood, died on October 3, 2013.

Born in Dover, Delaware, she resided in Norwood for over 50 years.

Mrs. Rodgers served Norwood residents as a public servant over 30 years as a Councilwoman and President of Borough Council, being the only woman to hold that position in the Borough’s history. Recognized publicly on many occasions for her civil service, her contributions to the community continue to have a lasting and positive impact. She spent many years caring for disabled children in the Delaware County School District.

Mrs. Rodgers was one of nine sisters. While attending the Murphy School for Girls in Dover, she graduated from Dover High where she excelled in both academies and athletics. She was awarded 16 letters and still holds the state record for most points scored in a women’s basketball game of that era.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend, Mrs. Rodgers dedication and unconditional love remains in the hearts of the many she touched. An accomplished cook by all accounts, June always warmed the bellies and spirits of friends and loved ones. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

She was the wife of the late Charles B. Rodgers.

SURVIVORS: Her sons, Charles (Debbie) Rodgers of Prospect Park and Robert (Diane) Rodgers of Virginia; her seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and several sisters.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Tuesday, October 8th, at 11 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 Chester Pike in Norwood, Pa.19074.

VISITATION: Will be on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the church.

BURIAL: Will be private.

CONTRIBUTIONS: In lieu of flowers, contributions made in June’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church at the above address would be appreciated.

Kathleen "Kathy" DeVaco

Kathleen (Kathy) DeVaco (nee Campbell), 55

Kathy DeVaco of Ridley Park, PA died September 29, 2013 at Talyor Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Ridley Township. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and grandmother. She dedicated her life to her helping others and was always there for guidance and support. She enjoyed boating and her dogs. Her greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren grow.

Survivors: Her husband of 37 years Mark J DeVaco ; her children Mark, Matthew and Desiree; her five grandchildren TJ, Jackson, Nicholas, Luciana, and Benjamin; her brothers Larry Campbell and James Campbell.

Memorial Service: will be held on Thursday, October 3 rd at 1 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, Pa. 19074

Visitation: will begin at Noon on Thursday, October 3 rd at the funeral home

Burial: Private

Weston C. Tuttle

Weston C. Tuttle, 71, of Walkertown, North Carolina, died on September 28, 2013 of cancer and was embraced by the Lord in His kingdom.

Born November 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles and Hilda Tuttle, Agawam, Ma. Mr. Tuttle was in the Coast Guard serving aboard the USCGC Androscoggin berthed in Miami Beach, Fla.

After retiring from Chalmers & Kubick of Aston in January, 2010, he moved the following month to Walkertown, N.C. with his wife of 49 years, Christine. She is the daughter of the late James A. and Ethel A. Taylor, Glenolden. They previously lived in New London, Pa., Folsom, Pa., and Miami, Fla.

SURVIVORS: In addition to his wife, his daughters, Marjorie Rubel (Donald) of Spokane, Wa., Terrene Tuttle of Ridley Park and Lorraine Rossetti of Bangor, Pa.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Boomer (Henry) of Mead, Wa., Lindsay Kondo (Hoshi) of Tacoma, Wa., Robert W. Sparklin of Linwood, and Sydney and Sophia Rossetti of Bangor, Pa.; great-grandson Eric Boomer of Mead, Wa.; sister Chilene Tuttle of Agawam, Ma.; and cousin, Alice Vida of San Antonio, Texas.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Will be held on Thursday, October 17th, at 3 p.m. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa.

BURIAL: Will be private.

Arthur R. "Duke" Manduke

MandukeArthur R. (Duke) Manduke, born in Swarthmore, Pa. and a resident of Glenolden, Pa. of 50 years, passed away on February 3, 2015 while residing at Naaman’s Creek Country Manor Nursing Home. He was 89.

Born in then rural Swarthmore area, Duke had an early interest in raising rabbits, and keeping and riding his horse. He also had an interest in all things mechanical. As a teenager he worked at riding stables in Swarthmore. Later, as World War II arrived he joined the Navy at age 17 and served over three years and until the end of the war. Duke served aboard the destroyer escort the USS HISSEM, D.E. 400. His ship served as a convoy escort in the Atlantic and was torpedoed once. He was aboard the HISSEM, which participated in D-Day, patrolled the Pacific Theater and was off the Japanese coast where Duke witnessed the plume and flash of the atomic bombs. His job was a third loader of the big guns and 20MM anti-aircraft gunner when warding off air attacks. He was 21 when he received his Honorable Discharge from the Navy.

For 30 years he worked at Sun Oil Co. as a first class machinist and pipe fitter and received a long time service and recognition pin upon his retirement in 1982. During his active work years he was an active member of the Masons, a long time team member of the Sun Oil bowling league, and an accomplished archer. Ever the entrepreneur he engaged his fondness of animals by raising and selling parakeets for over 20 years. Additionally he was a 50 year coin collector and dealer, a generalist collector encompassing many different categories and had an active interest in the stock market and precious metals.

In later retirement years he and his wife Doris joined the New Jersey Garden State Chapter of the Destroyer Escort Sailor’s Association and its Philadelphia Keystone Chapter. During the 80s and 90s they traveled around the country to various DESA conventions and coin shows. They spent a lot of time visiting their three sons and their families and enjoyed being a major part of their life events. Duke enjoyed his retirement with Doris, as members of the Briarcliff Swim Club, enjoying a good cup of coffee with powdered sugar donuts, and gossiping under the sun umbrella with neighbors. He was a charismatic man with a good sense of humor that touched many people throughout his life. Duke became a Communicant Member of Temple Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, Pa., by adult Baptism May 28th, 1950 and was a member of the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Secane.

In August of 1948, Duke married his beloved wife, Doris M. Redmond, who predeceased him in 1998.

SURVIVORS: They are survived by their three sons, Robert Manduke and wife Nadine Manduke of Far Hills, N.J., Keith Manduke of Philadelphia, and Mark Manduke and his wife Peggy Manduke of Herndon, VA. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Lauren, Meghan, and Jennifer, and his grandson, Michael. In May of 2014, Duke became a great-grandfather to Brooklyn Manduke Rossi. He will be dearly missed.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Saturday, February 7th, at 10 A.M. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 2545 Franklin Avenue, in Secane, Pa. 19018 ( 610-544-2707)

VISITATION: Will be on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at the church.

BURIAL: Will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, Pa.

CONTRIBUTIONS: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 2545 Franklin Avenue, Secane, Pa. 19018.

Jean Franklin

Jean Franklin, 48, a resident of Folcroft, passed away suddenly on February 2, 2015 at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Franklin.

SURVIVORS: Her sisters, Annamarie Maresh and Mary Franklin; her brother, Donald Franklin; and her nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Friends may call on Monday, February 9th, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074

BURIAL: Will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, Pa.

Betty J. Trum

TRUM, BETTY J. age 82, passed away on January 28, 2015, of Shipley Manor in Wilmington, DE, formerly of Boothwyn, Pa.

Beloved wife of the late Henry L. Trum. Dear grandmother of Dara Trum.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Graveside Service on Tuesday, February 3rd, at 11 A.M. at Cedar Green Cemetery, 251 E. Academy Street, in Clayton, N.J. 08312 with her burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made to St. John’s Tinicum Lutheran Church, 601 Seneca Street, Essington, Pa. 19029 would be appreciated.

Joyce Boyle

Joyce Boyle, (Nee Thompson), age 70, of Woodlyn, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2015. Mrs. Boyle was born in Philadelphia to the late James and Edna Thompson.

Joyce worked as a delivery driver for Incredibly Edible Delights and Norwood Florist before retiring in 2009. She liked to spend time with her grandson; she was active in the Wii bowling league at the School House Senior Center and loved to play bingo and the lottery. She had a love for crafting and floral arranging. She was also a devoted member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Norwood for over 30 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby boy, Frankie (Franklin) Keifer, and her loving husband of 30 years John E. Boyle.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by her daughter, Tara (Mike) Page of Woodlyn, Pa.; her step-son, John Boyle III of Fla.; her grandchildren Shane, Kimberly, Karen, Nicole, and several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dolores (Frank) Murden of South Hampton, Pa., June Haentze of Cape May, N.J., and Edna Thompson of Media, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews, and very close friends.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Will be held in her honor on Monday, February 2nd, at 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074.

VISITATION: Will be on Monday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be private.

Anna Mae Million

Anna Mae Million (nee Simon), age 87, of Ridley Park, Pa., passed away on January 21, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Philadelphia, Anna Mae was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School for girls. She worked as a sales associate at John Wanamaker for 30 years before her retirement. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood, Pa. Anna loved spending time with her family and was totally devoted to them.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by her two daughters, Darlene (Karl) McClellan and Joyce Million; and her three grandchildren, Kristopher, Michael, and Kimberly.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held on Monday, January 26 th, at 10:30 A.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, in Norwood, Pa. 19074.

VISITATION: Will be on Monday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Fernwood, Pa.

Michelle Lynn Quinn

Michelle Lynn Quinn suddenly passed away on Saturday, January 17th, 2015.

Born on January 13th, 1971 in Philadelphia, Pa. and lived in Folsom, Pa. for the past 3 years. She attended St. Boniface Business School graduating in 1986. She worked for CVS/Caremark for 8 years as a purchase manager.

She is survived by her mother, Sandra B. Quinn; father Joseph C. Quinn; her brothers, Joseph C. Quinn and Ronald W. Quinn; her sister, Suzanne C. Waite (Quinn); her nieces and nephews, Chelsea Quinn, Kyle Quinn, Carly Quinn, Nicole Waite, and Liam Quinn.

A Life Celebration and luncheon in Michelle’s memory will be held on Saturday, January 31st, from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Herbert W. Best Post # 928 V.F.W. Hall, 1805 MacDade Blvd., in Folsom, Pa. 19033.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the COPD Foundation in Michelle’s name.

Rose A. Moore

Rose A. Moore of Milford, Delaware, (formerly of Folcroft, Pa.), passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at home after a short illness. She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Moore was born on January 16, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Angelo Gallo and Sara Russo Gallo.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed her time at the Gull House Senior Center; loved music and old movies; but mostly, spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert K. Moore, Sr. in 2011.

She is survived by her son, Robert K. Moore, Jr. of Drexel Hill, Pa.; daughters, Monica Armstrong of Boothwyn, Pa. and Mary Jo Cauley and partner Vicky Apostolopoulos of Milford, DE.; sisters, Nancy Latella of Cape May County, N.J., Mary Cuorato of Holland, Pa., and Millie Berwick of Notasulga, AL.; and grandchildren, Alicia and Jeffrey Armstrong and Joe Cauley.

A Memorial Service in her honor will be held on Thursday, January 22nd, at 2 P.M. at the Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike in Norwood, Pa. 19074. A visitation period will be on Thursday from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made in her memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 would be appreciated.
