Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Helen V. Kuzio

Helen V. Kuzio, 82, a resident of Williamsport, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at her home. Born June 6, 1920 in Muncy, she was a daughter of George E. and Cora B. McCarty More. Her husband of 52 years, Joseph B. Kuzio, preceded her in death Jan. 20, 2002.
Mrs. Kuzio was a member of the Church of St. Ann and a member of the church’s bereavement committee. She was a Navy veteran of WWII and had retired from Montgomery Mills.
Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, James D. of Williamsport and Jeffrey A. and Loretta of Trout Run and a sister, Dorothy M. Kantner of Montgomery. She was preceded in death by a brother, LaVerne More and a sister, Agnes Friehling.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., with the Rev. Andrew Hvozdovic officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd. 4 south, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Flossie M. Neights

Flossie M. Neights, 88, formerly of Elimsport and Montgomery, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2002, in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, where she had been a resident for the past 2 years. Born in Elimsport, Lycoming County, PA, on Wednesday, December 3, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Merhl and Laura (Fry) Lynch.
She was the widow of Cloyd M. Neights, who preceded her in death in 1972.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Muncy. Flossie was a member of the Muncy and Montgomery Senior Citizens and the Rambler’s Club. She enjoyed crafts, baking, shopping and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Leitha M. Huff, Muncy; and 1 son and daughter-in-law, Gary M. and Emma Neights, Boiling Springs, PA. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 1 sister, Florence M. Hain, in 1996.
Services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Elimsport Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Muncy, 602 S. Market Street, Muncy, PA, 17756. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy.

Elaine G. Rauff

Elaine G. Rauff, 80, a former resident of Lafayette Parkway, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville. Born March 6, 1922 in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of Harry & Harriet Richbart Stern. Her husband, Morton Rauff, died in 1985. Mrs Rauff attended Lycoming College and New York University.
She was a member of Temple Beth Ha Sholom, its Sisterhood and Hadassah.
In the mid-1970’s, her talk show "Here’s Elaine" was featured on WWPA.
She assisted with her husband’s business the Rauff Agency and also Stern Brother’s Realty. She enjoyed swimming and walking.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey W. of Montoursville and Larry of Williamsport; two daughters, Marjorie Baich of Phoenix, AZ and Sarah Sackett of White Plains, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Beatrice Harrison of Williamsport and Mitzi Leider of Silver Spring, MD.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2002 at the Temple, 425 Center St., with Marvin Hurwitz, Congregational President, officiating. Burial will be in the Temple section of Wildwood Cemetery. In keeping with Jewish tradition, there will be no visitation and flowers are to be omitted.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Temple Beth Ha Sholom, P.O. Box 1412, Williamsport, PA 17703. Arrangements are being handled by Allen & Redmond’s, 331 Elmira St.

Lynn Edward Sager

Lynn Edward Sager, 53, of Creek Road, Carlisle, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1949 in Muncy, son of the late Frederick K. Sager and Thelma Snyder Sager, Muncy.
He received a master’s degree in Business Administration from Penn State University, and was retired due to disability from the Commonwealth of PA Dept. of Labor and Industry. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam-era veteran. He was a member of the 11th PA Veteran Volunteers Infantry.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda Elaine Whyte, 1 son, Morgan S. Sager at home, a brother, Wayne K. Sager of Muncy, 1 niece and 1 nephew.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association, 1517 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Evelyn M. Nugent
Mrs. Evelyn M. Nugent, 85, formerly of Avis, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in the Sycamore Manor in Montoursville. She was born on Aug. 3, 1916, in Jersey Shore to James Gamble and the former Estella Laubach.
She was united in marriage Aug. 3, 1940, with John E. Nugent.
Nugent was retired from the Jersey Shore Hospital Nursing Dept. For many years she was a member of the Antes Fort United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included bingo, hunting and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Feb. 21, 1981.
Surviving is son, Edward E. Nugent of Avis, daughter Mrs. Rita A. Fredrikson of South Williamsport, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, four step grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2002 in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Thomas C. Jones, her pastor, will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Ann M. Maurer
Ann M. Maurer, 88 of Shiffler Avenue, Williamsport, entered into rest Wed., July 31, at Williamsport Hospital. She was the widow of Martin F. Maurer, who died September 18, 1994.
Ann was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Barbara Maitner Knapik, and was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 31, 1914. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1932.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of St. Ann, and she had been active with the Girl Scouts of America.
Surviving Ann are a son and daughter in law, Martin G. and Gail Maurer, Jr. of Williamsport; a daughter Stephanie A. Maurer of Glen Arm, MD; three grandchildren Jodie, Sherrie, and Laurie Maurer; and two sisters Margaret Ellmaker of Montoursville and Olga Vogt of Williamsport. She was preceded in death by four brothers John, Stephen, Andrew, and Joseph Knapik, and a sister Marion Pfirman.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Mon., Aug. 5 at the Church of St. Ann, 1220 Northway Rd. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, at the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St.

Cynthia Smith
Cynthia “Cindi” Smith, 46, of McEwensville, formerly of Lewistown, died Wed., July 31, 2002, at home.
Survivors include her mother, Coritha Turner of R. R. 1, Watsontown.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, at William F. Brooks’ Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Monday at St. Mark’s Cemetery, Lewistown.

Lois M. Folkrod
Lois M. Folkrod, 80, formerly of Watsontown, died July 31, 2002.
She was born in Watsontown on Aug., 15, 1921.
Surviving her is son Dr. Greg A. Adams, and a granddaughter. She is predeceased by husband Clarence T. Folkrod.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Cronrath’s Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, followed by burial at Watsontown Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11.

Margaret G. Strouse
Margaret G. Strouse, 92, resident of 106 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA, passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in the Sycamore Manor Health Center at Montoursville, PA where she was a guest for the past two days after being hospitalized for the past week. Born in Buffalo, NY, on Sunday, October 3, 1909, she was the daughter of the late George and Magdalen (Hertel) Blackhall.
She was the widow of Harry Webb Strouse who preceded her in death on August 2, 1980.
She was a graduate of nursing school in Buffalo, NY.
Strouse was a homemaker and practical nurse having been last employed at the former Fernandez Nursing Home, Montgomery, PA.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church at Montgomery, PA, where she sang in the church choir. She loved working crossword puzzles, watching animal shows and westerns on T. V. She also enjoyed family gatherings and cats.
She is survived by son Larry W. Strouse of Muncy; daughters Diane A. Jacobs of Muncy and Joyce M. Marella of Denver, PA; granddaughters Joyce M. Tannehill of Atglen, PA and Christine R. Strouse of Enola, PA; and great grandchildren Kyle and Berlyn Tannehill. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Oliver and Allen Blackhall.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at the Christ Lutheran Church, 50 East Houston Ave., Montgomery, with Rev. Gunther Bernhardt, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m., Monday at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Margaret Strouse Memorial Fund, C/O Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, PA 17756.
