Lucien M. Snook III

Lucien M. Snook III, 23, of 4528 Long Run Rd., Loganton, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Mansfield. He was born March 11, 1978, in Lock Haven, the son of Lucien M. Jr. and Jean M. Embick Snook.
A bartender for Marks Brothers in Mansfield, Lucien was a very outgoing and happy young man with a contagious smile. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He graduated from Sugar Valley H.S. in 1996, where he was a member of the wrestling, soccer and baseball teams. He attended Mansfield University and would have graduated in May 2002 with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration.
He is survived by his parents, of Loganton; maternal grandparents Leonard and Delores Embick of Loganton; paternal grandparents Lucien Sr. and Shirley Snook of Loganton; maternal great-grandmothers Beatrice Camp of Jersey Shore and Nellie Embick of Aaronsburg; Scott L. Snook of Loganton; honorary brother Jeremy Tyson of Huntingdon; a sister, Jody M. Snook of Loganton; several aunts, uncles and cousins and Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity brothers.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Welker Funeral Home, Main & Water Sts., Loganton, with Rev. Kenneth E. Geisewhite officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Trinity United Methodist Church of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, Mansfield.

Eugenia Estelle Steafather

Eugenia Estelle Steafather, 91, formerly of Dushore, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in San Diego, CA. She is survived by a son, William of Groton, CT; two granddaughters; a son-in-law; two great-granddaughters and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, with Rev. Eddie A. Nilsen. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dushore.

Chester Strong

Chester "Chet" Strong, 83, of Blossburg, died Dec. 10, 2001, at the Williamsport Hospital. Born May 5, 1918, in Morris Run, he was a son of the late Peter and Agnes Janowiak Strong.
Chet was employed by Ward Foundry in Blossburg for many years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church.
Surviving are four children and spouses, Loretta (Jeff) Eaton of Wellsboro, Robert Strong of Athens, Ronald (Ann Lee) Strong of Morris Run and Larry Strong of Miami, FL; a daughter-in-law, Lourdes Strong of Coral Springs, FL; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Chris, Sean, Jennifer and Eric Strong and Marc and Patrick Eaton; a great-grandson, Broc Strong ; a sister, Nellie Coons of Horseheads and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Rose Marie (Gubala) Strong on April 28, 2000; a son, Raymond Strong in 2000; three sisters, Mary Brisco, Tillie Nowakowski and Ann Carlson and four brothers, Steven, John, Joseph and William Strong.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Zwicharowki Funeral Home, Blossburg, with a vigil service held at 8:45 p.m.
Transferal prayers will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Fox, officiating. Burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Blossburg Area Catholic Community, 138 St. Mary’s St., Blossburg, PA 16912.

John C. Wallace

John C. Wallace, 74, of Main St., Turbotville, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
A WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Dennis and a daughter, Brenda Pearl.
Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Burial with military honors in Twin Hills Memorial Park.

John P. Blaschak Sr.

John P. Blaschak, Sr., 85, of Mill Hall, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, one daughter, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Church, 7 East Walnut St., Lock Haven, with Rev. Fr. Robert Brown. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30, Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall.

Harry L. Deise

Harry L. "Bud" Deise, 60, a guest at Rose View Center, formerly of 341 Adams Street, Williamsport, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at the center. Born March 17, 1941, in Avis, he was a son of the late Ward and Miriam Blesh Diese.
Mr. Deise retired in 1991 after 24 years service with Textron. He was a 1959 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Nascar.
On Sept. 29, 1967, in Avis, he married the former Juniata E. Berry, who survives along with two daughters, Rowenna L. Sweeney of Williamsport and Mary A. Deise of Harrisburg. Also surviving is a grandson, Thomas L. Persun; a greanddaughter, Joclyn Persun and a great-grandson, Austin Randall, all of Williamsport and a sister, Marilyn Wagner of Avis.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday at the Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with the Reverend Gerald Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Swissdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

David R. DiCarlo

David R. DiCarlo, 58, of RR3 Wellsboro, died Dec. 11, 2001, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Anita J. Gambino DiCarlo, whom he married July 21, 1990. He was born April 16, 1943, in Boyertown, the son of the late James V. and Marie Bealer DiCarlo.
He was a payroll supervisor for Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company, Pottsville, a member of the St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Stowe, a member of the American Legion, Summit Hill, Morris Rod and Gun Club, Morris, Arnot Sportsmen Club, Arnot and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving, other than his wife, are sons and daughter-in-law, David V. DiCarlo of Tamaqua and Dennis (Rachelle) DiCarlo of Austin, TX; one daughter, Debra L. DeLuca of Pottstown; one granddaughter, Mikayla L. DeLuca; one sister and brother-in-law, Pam (Robert) Taggert of Newtown Square and one nephew, Justin Hoffman of Pottstown.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday,December 15, 2001, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Central Ave., Wellsboro, with Rev. Michael J. Sullivan officiating.
If desired, memorials may be sent to the Morris Rod and Gun Club, c/o Leahr Brown, RD 7 Box 92, Wellsboro, PA 16901.

Barbara C. Engler

Barbara C. Engler, 85, of Tioga, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in Wellsboro. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Voorhees of Sayre; two grandsons, Sean D. and Adam J. Voorhees of Sayre; a sister, Pauline Snyder of Tioga and her feline companion, Ginger.
Visitation will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Jacquelyn A. Buckheit Funeral Chapel, 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, with the funeral immediately following.

Evelyn M. Fierro

Evelyn M. Fierro, 84, of 450 Center St., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at West Gate Nursing Home in Rochester, NY. She was born March 13, 1917, in Millersburg, the daughter of Norman V. and Edith Wyland Bowman.
A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick H. Fierro, in 1978.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and past president of the Catholic Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Louis N. Fierro of York and Patrick H. Fierro of Rochester, NY; four daughters, Sandra Emerson of Rochester, NY, Patricia Simpson of Rochester, NY, Ursula L. Fierro of Bakersfield, CA and Mary Hensel of Allentown; one brother, Norman Bowman of Providence, RI; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, 410 Walnut St., with Rev. John Kita officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maneval Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth St., from 10:15-10:45 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., or Meals on Wheels, c/o Office of the Aging, Lincoln St., PO Box 3568, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Helen Irene Jonas

Helen Irene Dawes Jonas, 82, of Norwalk, OH and formerly of Ralston, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Walter Jonas, in 1992.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trout Run Cemetery, with Rev. Sandi Foster, of Trout Run United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be at Maneval Funeral Home, 500 W. Fourth St., Friday from 7-9 p.m.

Martha B. Mick

Martha B. Mick, 90, of 309 Reade Drive, Cogan Station, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at her residence. She was born in Stuttgart, Germany, January 17, 1911, a daughter of Gustav Karl and Martha Marie Schwenk Scheuermann. She was married to F. Carl Mick, who predeceased her.
Early in her life, she was a textile mill worker and later was a homemaker and raised her family. She was a former member of the Deltona, Florida garden club. She was a member of the New Covenant Church of Christ in Williamsport and was a member of the churches Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed being with her family, shopping, sewing, knitting and gardening.
Her survivors include two daughters with whom she resided, Karen M. Fisher and her husband Robert M. and Judith C. Mick; one son, John C. Mick and his wife Linda R. of Huntington, WV; two sisters, Margaret Ferenzi of Roebling, NJ and Elsie Cresswell of Badin, NC ; one brother, William Scheuermann of Stockbridge, GA; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, from New Covenant Church of Christ, 202 E. 3rd St., Williamsport, with her pastor, Rev. Bruce R. Druckenmiller, officiating. Interment will take place later in Monument Cemetery in Beverly, NJ. Friends may call at the church Monday from 10-11 a.m.
Her family suggests memorial contributions be made to Central Pennsylvania Dialysis Foundation, P.O. Box 542, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements are being handled by Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," Jersey Shore.
