Shirley Jean Miller

Shirley Jean Miller, 65, a resident of RR3 Muncy, passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in the Muncy Valley Hospital, where she was taken after being stricken at her residence. Born in New Berlin on Aug. 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Alma L. Wright Keister. She was the wife of Kenneth L. Miller, with whom she celebrated a 47th wedding anniversary on January 31, 2001.
She was last employed in the office at Professional Skills, Williamsport. She was formerly employed by the former Montgomery Mills.
Shirley was a member of the St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church, Montgomery. She was a member of Watsontown American Legion Post 323 Ladies Auxillary and enjoyed quilting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas G. (Marijo) Miller of Mifflintown; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane M. (Donald) Baylor of Allenwood and Lucinda K. Crawford of Montgomery; four sisters, Pauline Renninger of Mifflinburg, Charlotte Keister of New Berlin, Janet Wiand of Middletown and Susan Weirick of Middleburg; one brother, Roger Keister; one sister-in-law, Shirley Keister; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Keister.
Funeral services will be conducted from the St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Scott W. Baker, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main St., Muncy or on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the church.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Renovation Fund at the St. John’s Lutheran "Brick" Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA 17752.

Geraldine M. Moll

Geraldine M. Moll, 71, of 312 Main St., Turbotville, died Wednesday, Dec., 12, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center. She and her husband, Denzil K. Moll, would have celebrated 46 years of marriage Dec. 24.
A homemaker, she was also well-known as a babysitter for many families in the Turbotville area.
She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, McEwensville, and the adult Sunday school class there.
Born July 13, 1930, in Delaware Twp., she was the daughter of the late Allen and Catherine Bower Leech, Sr.
Surviving, besides her husband, are a son, Steven D. Moll and a daughter, Barbara A. Moll, both of Turbotville; a brother and his wife, Allen and Freda Leech, Jr., of RD1 Turbotville; three sisters, Helen Robenolt and Doris Temple of Watsontown and Patricia Speaks of Bloomsburg. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra A. Moll, who died at birth in 1958; a brother, Robert Bower and a sister, Hester Hafer.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, McEwensville, with the Rev. Charla M. Grieves, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, RR2 Montgomery. Friends may call at the church Saturday morning from 9-10:30 a.m.
The family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the American Diabetes Association, Always and Forever Memorial and Honor Program, PO Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville.

Donald R. Sweeley

Donald R. Sweeley, 63, a resident of Fulmer Personal Care Home, Lock Haven, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Lock Haven, after being hit by a car. Born August 14, 1938, in Williamsport, he was the son of Frank E. and Isabel Sims Sweeley.
He had worked for Divine Providence Hospital and Hope Enterprises, Inc., both of Williamsport.
Mr. Sweeley is survived by a son, Steven T. Snyder of Trout Run, two daughters, Heather R. Snyder of Williamsport and Holly M. Ritter of Jersey Shore; three brothers, Robert and Thomas, both of Williamsport and Bernard of Fort Lauderdale, FL and eight grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James and a granddaughter, Sonya Hackney.
A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Wildwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Spitler Funeral Home.

John C. Wallace

John C. Wallace, 74, of Main St., Turbotville, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.
A WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Dennis and a daughter, Brenda Pearl.
Funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Burial with military honors in Twin Hills Memorial Park.

Leah C. Zettlemoyer

Leah C. Zettlemoyer, 75, of RR1 Brockport, formerly of Watsontown, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Pittsburgh. She was born near Schuyler on Jan. 11, 1926 to Franklin and Gladys Betz Umstead.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, Turbotville. Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Geraldine Brostrom

Geraldine Day Brostrom, 81, a longtime resident of Wellsboro, died December 5, 2001, in her home in Albion, NY, after a long illness.
She had 58 years of service to Corning Glassworks, Inc., 37 years as an active employee.
Mrs. Brostron was preceded in death by Evald Brostrom, her husband of 38 years. She is survived by her daughters Edna (Bruce) Kriner-Kirby of Albion, NY, Jeanne (Brian) Erway of Rochester, NY, grandchildren Christopher Kriner of Beacon, NY, Timothy (Bela) Kriner of Sacramento, CA, Galen and Felisa Erway of Rochester, NY, two sisters, Betty Hutchenson of Horseheads, NY, Edna (Leonard) Ferris of Green Bay, WI; a sister-in-law, Naomi Day of Wellsboro and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," Wellsboro on Tuesday, December 11, 2001, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held there Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Shumway Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans County, 14080 West Ave., Albion, NY 14411.

Rose A. Crist

Rose A. Crist, retired restaurant owner, of Oregon Hill Road, Morris, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born January 31, 1926, in Hornsby, NY, the daughter of the late Hattie Rounsville.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Mast, her daughter Judy Guillaume and her sons Lonnie and Gary Mast.
She is survived by her loving husband, Buster Crist, with whom she managed their restaurant until their retirement; five sons William (Louise) Mast, Dennis (Carol) Mast, Fred Mast, David (Jim) Crist and Mark (Donna) Crist, as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service for the family will be held at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," in Wellsboro. Interment will be at the Oregon Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to Southern Tier Hospice of Corning, NY, the Falck Cancer Center of Elmira, NY or a charity of one’s choice.

Blanche L. Everett

Blanche L. Everett, 86, of 101 N. Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at Manor Care North, Williamsport. Born November 29, 1915, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Ernest N. and Mary Konkle Belles.
Blanche was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, a 1933 graduate of Montoursville H.S. and a 1938 graduate of Bucknell University. She enjoyed hosting the annual family Christmas gathering at her home. She played Christmas songs on the piano as she had a talent for playing by ear. She was an avid lover of big band and jazz music and was also fond of cats.
Blanche valued the time she spent with her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her home, friends and family visits.
The widow of L. Deavor Everett, Sr., who died December 18, 1981, she is survived by a son, L. Deavor (Dick) Everett, Jr., of Montoursville; two daughters, Barbara S. Orr of Williamsport and Ann Coolidge of South Williamsport; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a nephew, Robert B. Fink. She was predeceased by a grandson, Richard Lewis Everett.
There will be a private memorial graveside service at the convenience of the family at Montoursville Cemetery with her pastor, Rev. Paul C. Murphy, officiating. Arrangements by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Leonard Cecil Hazel III

Leonard Cecil Hazel III, infant son of Leonard C. Jr. and Melissa A. Pfleegor Hazel, was stillborn on December 4, 2001.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Johanna N. and Katelyn J. Hazel, both at home; a half sister, Megan M. Hazel, Montoursville; maternal grandparents Gary and Linda Pfleegor, Williamsport; paternal grandmother Martha Johnson, Kylertown and maternal great-grandparents Mary Connacher and Raymond and Shirley Kontz, all of Williamsport. His paternal grandfather, Leonard C. Hazel, Sr. and his maternal great-grandfathers, Frank Connacher and Spencer Pfleegor, predeceased him.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with Rev. John K. Manno, Annunciation Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation from 1:30-2 p.m. Interment in Montoursville Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.

Kevin L. Kurtz

Kevin L. Kurtz, 37, formerly of Williamsport, died Thursday, November 22, 2001, in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Nina K. Kurtz of York Haven; his stepdaughter, Susan Calhoon of York Haven; a stepsister, Janette Kennedy of Williamsport; two aunts, Anita Hughes of Lawton, OK and Marlene Hill of Renovo and nine grandchildren.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
