Nicholas Yurchak
Nicholas Yurchak, 80, of Rt. 405 and Rt. 442 Intersection, Muncy, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Williamsport Hospital.
He and his wife of 48 years, the former Katherine Sasso, were married Feb. 21, 1954.
Following graduation from Edwardsville High School in 1940, he worked as a machinist at American Car & Foundry of Berwick building tanks during World War II. He then became self-employed as an electrical contractor and appliance dealer. In 1955, he opened the Muncy Electric Center on Main St, Muncy, where he sold and repaired appliances. In 1962, he relocated his business to its present site at the Red Barn.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 299, F&AM, Muncy and the Sulphur Springs Gun Club. He enjoyed competing as a benchrest marksman.
Born Dec. 7, 1921, in Edwardsville, he was the son of Michael and Maria Berdy Yurchak.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, John Marshall Yurchak, a US Navy Captain serving on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, DC; one brother, Michael Yuchak of Drums and two sisters, Mary Rilko of Wapwallopen and Betty Ervin of Berwick.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be the Rev. Allen W. Haas, pastor of Radiant Light Assembly of God, Muncy. Interment will be in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to West Branch Nephrology, c/o Dr. Daniel R. Gandy, 1660 Sycamore Road, Montoursville, PA 17754.
Helen M. Donnell
Helen M. Donnell, 95, of Rockville, MD, formerly of Montoursville, died April 2, 2002. Born April 24, 1907, in Montoursville, she was a daughter of Abraham and Edna Swartz Houser.
Helen was the widow of J. Glen Donnell, who died May 31, 1964. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Kaiser.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at Montoursville Cemetery, with Rev. Roy D. Meyer officiating. There will be no visitation.

Norman John Hughes
Norman John "Bud" Hughes, died March 31, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center after heart surgery.
Bud was the son of Norman Hughes and Ruth Hoover Hughes and was born and raised in Kansas City, KS. He was married to Nina H. Hughes for over 46 years; she passed away on March 23, 2002.
He is survived by one sister, Marilyn Wilson of Rio Rancho, NM; two sons, John W. Hughes of Worcester, MA and Christopher K. Hughes of Montoursville; a daughter, Amy L. Hughes of Bainbridge Island, WA; two stepdaughters, Sharon M. Martz of Unityville and L. Cathryn Loomis of Denver, CO and five grandchildren, Christopher Loomis, Brian Marcyan, Kelley Marcyan, Matthew Loomis and Stephanie Hughes.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Bud served as an Aviation Technician in Pensacola, FL, Devonshire, England and Whidby Island, WA.
Bud and his family moved to the area when he was transferred by his employer in 1952 to head up sales at the former Nashua Mobil Home plant in Montoursville. He retired from Nashua in 1972 and has worked on several projects since including renovating old cars and homes.
Bud requested that no memorial service be held.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember him may contribute to the American Heart Association.

Viola T. Pawlak
Viola T. Pawlak, 88, formerly of Mosser Ave., Williamsport, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in the Williamsport Home.
Services are tentatively set for Saturday.

Sherry K. Perry
Sherry K. Perry, 57, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in Rose View Center. Born June 8, 1944, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Frank J. and L. Blanche Hufford Carnevale.
She was a 1962 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended the Church of the Ascension. She was a supervisor at Wundies for 28 years.
Surviving is her father of Williamsport; two brothers, Scott Mundrick of Canandaigua, NY and Kevin Carnevale of Williamsport; a sister, Kathy Gottschall of South Williamsport; three nephews and two nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., with the Rev. Charles J. Cummings officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Cancer Treatment Center at Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
May L. Pletcher
May L. Pletcher, 86, of Howard, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at her home.
She was born Oct. 12, 1915, in Howard Twp., the daughter of the late Albert B. and Nancy Schenck Coder.
She and her husband, Paul "Tony" S. Pletcher, were married Feb. 28, 1954, at the Hunter Run Church in Howard. He died in Sept. 1994.
She was a graduate of Howard High School, the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing (1942) and the Nurse Anesthetist School at Robert Packer Hospital.
She was an RN, serving as an anesthetist assistant at Williamsport Hospital. She had also worked at the Bellefonte Hospital.
She was a member of the Howard Main St. United Methodist Church, where she was a past secretary, had taught Sunday School and belonged to the Untied Methodist Women.
She was a Red Cross Volunteer, belonged to the Williamsport Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, was a past tax assessor for Howard Twp. and was a past secretary for the Schencks Cemetery Association.
She volunteered for the American Cancer Society, where she was chair person for the Lower Bald Eagle Valley Fund Drive.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth C. Brewer of Lighstreet and Ellen J. Pletcher Quillen of Williamsport; two sons, Frank H. of Olympia, Wash.; David P. of Farmville, VA; four sisters, Rachael Yarnell of Pleasant Gap, Rebecca Metz of Conshohocken, N. Jeannette Klen of Beloit, WI and Mary Pallo of Lewistown; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Kyle and a brother, Paul Coder.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Main St. United Methodist Church, Howard, with the Rev. David Trostle officiating. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery, Howard Twp.
Visitation will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Contributions may be made to Main St. United Methodist Church, Main St., Howard.
James Taylor Smith
James Taylor Smith, 70, of Arrow Rock, MO, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 5, 1931, in Lanesboro. On Nov. 21, 1962, he married Catherine "Kitty" Hogge, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Laurel Hill Academy, Susquehanna, and received a teaching certificate from Mansfield University.
Surviving are a son, James Timothy Smith of Kansas; a daughter, Lisa Sue Smith, at home and two sisters, Doris Allen of Mansfield and Joyce Wigley of Sunnyside, WA.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Arrow Rock Federated Church, Arrow Rock, MO. Burial will be in Arrow Rock Cemetery.
Friends may call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Marshall, MO, where a Scottish Rite Service will be held at 8 p.m.
Memorials may go to Arrow Rock Federated Church, Arrow Rock Cemetery, or any Masonic organization.
Helen L. Ferguson-Ross
Louise Ferguson-Ross, 75, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001. She was born Jan. 30, 1926, in Clinton Twp. to Wilson Herman & Vernon Waltman. She was the widow of Kenneth E. Ferguson, Sr.
She was retired as a court reporter for the Commonwealth Court of Pa. and was a former court reporter for Dauphin County Courts. She was a 1943 graduate of Montgomery Clinton High School.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Ross of Las Vegas; a son, Kenneth E. Ferguson Jr. of Lower Paxton Twp.; 2 daughters, Nancy L. Peck of Lower Paxton Twp. & Barbara A. Fulton of Harrisburg; a brother, Paul Herman of Columbus, OH; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Jack C. Lovell
Jack C. Lovell, Sr., 76, died Friday, August 10, at Valley View Center. He is survived by his wife the former Rebecca A. Betson; three sons David, Jack Jr., and Frank Lovell; three daughters Judy Manley, Sandy Brown and Ellen Baker, all of Williamsport; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Karen R. Lunger
Karen R. Lunger, 57, of 112 Iron St., Danville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001. Born Dec. 3, 1943, the daughter of the late H. Frank Latchford & Donna Lockhoff Latchford.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1961. Karen also graduated from the Danville Area School District School of Practical Nursing with academic honors, and the Bloomsburg University’s School of Nursing, having received a Bachelor of Science degree.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Lunger; 4 children, Mrs. Jacob S. (Patrice) Trump, Millville, Mrs. Jeffrey H. (Christine L.) Swank, Danville, James A. Lunger, Georgetown, KY and Anne R. Lunger, Philadelphia; 6 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Erlston-Baylor of Danville.
