Steven Michael Hommel, 61, of Mansfield Township, NJ, passed away on December 27, 2010 in Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ. Born: He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 4, 1949, he was a son of the late William Francis and Elinor Weber Hommel. Personal: He was the former husband of Janet Mutascio Billings. Steven lived in Mansfield Township, NJ for five years, coming from Flanders, NJ. Steven was a Telecommunications Manager for Prudential Ins., Co., Newark, NJ, previously he was employed by AT& T. He served in the Air Force. He was an assistant softball coach, Forks Township, PA for his daughters teams, he was an old movie buff and an antique toy collector. Survivors: one son, Derek Hommel of Hackettstown, NJ; three daughters, Wendy Ann Hommel of Hollywood, CA, Andie Allison Hommel and Jaymie Jaclyn Hommel, both of Forks Township, PA; one sister, Christine and her husband Floyd Han of East Windsor, NJ; mother of Andie and Jaymie, Janet Mutascio and her husband David Billings of Forks Township, PA. Services: Visitation, Thursday, December 30, 2010 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Services, Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 214 Washington St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Interment in the Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice.

Margaret Barrington

Margaret Barrington, 92, of Washington passed away at home surrounded by her family. Born: Margaret was born October 20, 1918 in Morristown, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Mary Austin Bottonley. Personal: Margaret is predeceased by her husband, Walter "Joey" Barrington in 1994. Margaret was a loving wife and mother. She was a homemaker and cared for her six children. She lived her life with dignity and grace. Margaret always looked for the best in people and never was judgmental. She enjoyed reading, poetry, bingo, and going to casino's. Memberships: She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Washington, NJ. Survivors: She is survived by three sons, Joe and wife Lucy Barrington of Fontana, CA, Richard Barrington of Washington, NJ, Donald and his wife Cindy Barrington of Belvidere, NJ; two daughters, Peggy Miller of Washington, NJ, Janice Ashman of Sandestin, FL; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also predeceased by her son, David Barrington, daughter-in-law, Virginia, son-in-law, George Miller Jr., and two brothers, William and Harold Bottomley. Services: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday December 30, 2010 in DeVoe Funeral Service 136 Washington Ave Washington NJ 07882 (908-689-0046). Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010. Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Washington, NJ. The DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882, has been entrusted with his arrangements.

Raymond John Russian

Raymond John Russian, 51, of Manahawkin, passed away on Wednesday, December 15th at home. Personal: He was the husband of Bernadette Russian and son of Barbara and John Russian. Survivors: Besides his wife and parents, he leaves behind a daughter, Natashia Russian; two sons, Raymond Jr. and Elias; three sisters, Deborah, Theresa, and Pamela; and one grandson, Aiden. Services: A memorial Mass will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hampton, NJ on December 29, 2010 at 10 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington, Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.

Doris M. Heyer

Doris M. Heyer Doris M. Heyer, who passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010, is also survived by a sister-in-law, Audrey Achenbach, of Plainfield Township. Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Relatives and friends are invited to call, from 10am till time of service, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Belfast Union Cemetery.

Arline Ross Detrick

Arline Ross Detrick, 82, of Washington Twp, passed away peacefully at home February 17, 2011, surrounded by those she loved. Born: March 11, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY she was a daughter of the late Frank Lewis Whiting and Dora Arline Licari. Personal: She previously lived in Chatham, NJ, Troy, NY and W. Orange, NJ. She received her Bachelor's Degree in 1949 from Maryville College in Maryville, TN. Arline was a school teacher for 20 years at Port Colden and Brass Castle Elementary Schools, having retired in 1988. Grammy was deeply devoted to the Lord and her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with each. Memberships: She was a member of The Chapel at Warren Valley and a member of the New Jersey Teachers Association. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served with her late husband, Rev. John Ross in the pastorate. Survivors: Her loving husband of 35 years, Robert L. "Bob" Detrick; two daughters, Priscilla and her husband Thomas Szlachtianchyn of Washington and Martha Ross of Roanoke, VA; two sons, Peter Ross at home and Andrew "Drew" Ross of Frederick, MD; two step-daughters, Linda Robertson of Washington and Alison and her husband Royd Whedon of St. Petersburg, FL; a stepson, David Detrick and his wife Donna of Broadway, NJ; a foster daughter, Dorothy Brenn of Florida; a sister, Janet Poling f St. Petersburg, FL; 11 grandchildren, Anya, Sandra, Michelle, Katherine, Daryl, Doug, Jeremy, Buffy, S'Donna, Alicia and Royd; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her loving first husband, Rev. John Ross who died in 1967 and her stepson, Dean Detrick who died in 1997. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. A Memorial Service will be held on February 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Washington, 40 East Church St., Washington, NJ 07882. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chapel at Warren Valley (Memo: Building Fund), 490A Route 57 West, Washington, NJ 07882. Edna A. DeHart

Edna A. DeHart, 100, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth, where she has resided since August of 2005. Born: On November 2, 1905 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Blanche Pelican. Personal: Her husband, Forman H. DeHart, passed away in December of 1950. She had lived in Phillipsburg nearly all of her life. She also resided in the Easton Home from February 2000 until going to Gracedale. Edna was noted for her crocheting and pie baking, especially her lemon meringue pies. Memberships: She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg. Survivors: She is survived by a daughter, Jean D. Willever of Milford, NJ; a grandson, Bruce Willever and his wife, Denise of Riegelsville, Pa; a granddaughter, Heidi Shaffer of Palmer Township, Pa; and a step-grandson, Richard Gumpper of Bethlehem, Pa. A daughter, Linda Shaffer, passed away on August 11, 2004. A step-daughter, Flora Gumpper, passed away in 1991. Services: Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. The Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg is in charge of the arrangements. Deborah A. Scaggs

Deborah A. Scaggs, 42, of Pen Argyl, Pa, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Hospice House of the VNA in Bethlehem, Pa. Born: On May 23, 1964 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of Marjorie Bush Smull of Alpha, NJ, and the late Thomas C. Crouse, Sr., and step-daughter of William E. Smull of Alpha, NJ. Personal: A resident of the Pen Argyl area for the last 30 years, Deborah was a caregiver in the Alzheimer Unit at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, Pa, for the last three years. She was also a homemaker. She attended Pleasant Valley High School, Brodheadsville, Pa, with the Class of 1983, and was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors: In addition to her mother and step-father, she is survived by a son, Kevin J. of Sciota, Pa; a daughter, Ashley J. of Roseto, Pa; three brothers, Thomas C. Crouse Jr. of Alpha, NJ, Steven J. Crouse of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Shawn T. Crouse of New Jersey; a sister, Jamie M. Crouse of Pohatcong Township, NJ; a grandson, Aiden Norton of Roseto, Pa; and her maternal grandmother, Marguerite Bush of Milford, NJ. Deborah is godmother of David Wilkinson of Easton, Pa. Services: Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Bloomsbury Cemetery, Bloomsbury, NJ. Elmer G. Smull

Elmer G. Smull, 82, of Williams Township, Easton, Pa, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the New Eastwood Care and Rehabilitation Center, Wilson Borough, Pa. Born: On March 28, 1925 in Glendon, Pa, he was a son of the late Elmer and Florence Todd Smull. Personal: He and his wife, the former Frances M. Krauss, observed their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 5, 2007. Elmer had lived in the Phillipsburg-Easton area for nearly all of his life. He was a machine operator for the Riegel Paper Co. and the James River Co., Warren Glen, NJ, for 52 years, retiring in 1990. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He loved to work with wood and create crafts. He was very musical and was a talented artist. He especially enjoyed taking his youngest son fishing. Survivors: In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by five sons, Tyrone E. Smull, at home, Kenneth Easterday and his wife Donna of Snow Camp, NC, Steven E. Smull and his wife Debbie of Melbane, NC, Dennis M. Smull of Easton and Craig G. Smull and his wife Shelly of Phillipsburg, NJ; two daughters, Bonnie B. Gardner and her husband George of White Township, Belvidere, NJ and Robin Smull Gano of Easton, Pa; a brother, Kenneth R. Smull of Easton, Pa; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Three grandchildren, Theodore, Samuel and Rose, a brother, Charles E. Smull and two sisters, Madeline Savacool and Irma Snoeberger, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A cremation service will follow. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family through the funeral home.

Veronika Lynn Mayhan

Veronika Lynn Mayhan, 11, of Easton, Pa, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at her home. Born: On September 26, 1996 in Allentown, Pa, she was a daughter of Craig and Laura Himes Mayhan, with whom she had resided. Personal: A resident of Easton for all her life, Veronika was a fourth grade student at Palmer Elementary School. She loved everything that little girls should, dancing, music, Polly Pockets, cars, trains, Barbies, fishing, her dogs, Reckless and Raven, her friends and family, Disney and her friends at school and at "Mikes". She participated in the Special Olympics. Survivors: In addition to her parents, Craig and Laura, she is survived by a brother, Cole T. Mayhan and his wife Nanette Schmidt of Bath, Pa; a sister, Ruth M. Evinger of Bangor, Pa, and her husband Timothy, stationed with the Army in Iraq; paternal grandmother, Florence Mayhan of Great Meadows, NJ; a great-uncle, Elmer Lapshanski of Great Meadows; aunt, Ruth and uncle Bob Schantz of Bloomsbury, Aunt Anna Geiger of Wilson Borough, Aunt Jane and Uncle David Richards of Forks Township, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Angelo Simmonetta of Easton, Aunt Sharon and Uncle Ray of Williams Township, Uncle James Richards of Easton, and Aunt Irene and Uncle John Walton of Forks Township; a niece, Shayla Mayhan, and many loving cousins. Her paternal grandfather, Clarence Mayhan, and maternal grandparents, Duane and Ruth Himes, all died earlier. Services: Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Alpha Presbyterian Cemetery, Alpha, NJ. Sarah E. Christine

Sarah E. Christine, 19, of Northampton, Pa, went to be with the Lord after a long illness on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. Born: On July 13, 1988 in Easton, Pa, she was a daughter of William W. and Jeanne M. Kutzer Christine, with whom she had resided. Personal: Sarah was a student at Northampton Area High School. She lived in Northampton for four and a half years, previously living in Bethlehem Township, Pa. Memberships: Sarah attended the Faith Community Assembly of God Church in Palmer Township. She was involved with Joni and Friends Disability Ministry, and the Dreams Come True Family of the Lehigh Valley. Survivors: In addition to her parents, William and Jeanne, she is survived by a brother, Caleb W. Christine; two sisters, Jennifer A. Christine and Alicia J. Christine, all at home, and her paternal grandmother, Pearl M. Christine of Port Colden, NJ. She was lovingly cared for by her home care nurses, Linda Salm and her husband Bob and Kathy Geist and her husband Randy. Services: Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church, 3000 Freemansburg Avenue, Palmer Township, Pa. Calling hours will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Burial will be in Stewartsville Lutheran Cemetery, Stewartsville, NJ. Dean S. Williams

Dean S. Williams, 61, of Mt. Bethel, Pa, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Warren Hospital. Born: On April 5, 1946 in Newton, NJ, he was a son of the late Stewart D. and Viola Stanton Williams. Personal: He and his wife, the former Nancy A. Neuberg, celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on February 10, 2008. Dean had lived in Mt. Bethel for the last 24 years. He was a lead technician in the maintenance department of the Division of the URS Corporation, Wayne, NJ, working at the Merrill Creek Reservoir, Harmony Township, NJ. He graduated from Hackettstown High School, Class of 1965 and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Dean was a great lover of all the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking and all wildlife. He was a sky diving and scuba diving enthusiast. Memberships: He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors: In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by three children, Dennison Williams of San Francisco, Calif., DeWitt Williams of Jacksonville, NC, and Joel Williams of Amherst, Mass., and a granddaughter, Makayla Williams. Services: A visitation will be held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Raymond J. Hughes Sr

Raymond J. Hughes Sr., 87, of Bath, Pa, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Alexandria Manor, Bath. Born: On April 20, 1920, in Pen Argyl, Pa, he was a son of the late Robert and Sidelia Hughes. Personal: His first wife, the former Julia R. Rosso, passed away in 1983. His second wife, the former Mae F. Wellen Jurinko, passed away in 2002. Raymond has lived in Alexandria Manor for three years having previously resided in Phillipsburg, Easton and Green Briar, Bath, Pa. He was employed as a pipefitter at the Ingersoll-Rand Co., Phillipsburg, NJ for 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. Raymond enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Memberships: He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg, NJ, and the John Dolak American Legion Post, Alpha, NJ. Survivors: Raymond is survived by a son, Raymond J. Hughes Jr. and his wife Carol of Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ; a daughter, Judith L. Reinert and her husband Terry of Phillipsburg, NJ; two brothers, Clifford Hughes of Pen Argyl and Ernie Hughes of Florida; three grandchildren, Keith Hughes, Tracey Taynor and Beth Smith, and seven great-grandchildren, Julia Smith, Thomas Smith, Jared Falk, Sierra Falk, Adrianna Taynor, Hunter Hughes and Hayden Hughes. Two brothers, Warren Bonney and Earl Hughes, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township, Pa.
