Shirley M. Zima 71, of Palmer Township passed away Monday June 7, 2004 in Warren Hospital
Born: September 14, 1932 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, a daughter of the late James and Madeline Schmidt Riley
Personal: Shirley and her husband Henry A. Zima celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary on February 14th.
She was a commercial buyer for the former M & M Mars Co. retiring in 1994.
She was a graduate of Easton High School Class of 1950
Memberships: She was a member of Saint Bernard's Catholic Church in Easton
Survivors:Four daughters, Marie Zima of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Karen A. Maciejczyk and Jean L. Moore of Palmer Township, and Susan B. Zima of Beverly Hills , California; three sons Henry S. and Kevin J. of Palmer Township and Gregory M. of Easton; thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Grube of Arizona, Margaret Longordo of Flemington, NJ and Linda Gerstenberg of Nazareth, PA ; a brother James Riley of Forks Township .
A brother Frances Riley preceded her in death.
Services: Thursday 9:45am in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas Street in Palmer, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Saint Bernard's Catholic Church 132 South 5th Street in Easton.
Call Wednesday Evening 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the funeral home
Interment: St. Joseph's Cemetery , Easton
Memorials: may be made in memory of Shirley to the National Kidney Foundation 325 Chestnut Street, Constitution Place Suite 725, Phila., PA 19106 (state 'for use in Lehigh Valley')

Dennis L. Haschak
Dennis L. Haschak 52, of Easton passed away Tuesday August 31, 2004 in his home.
Born: August 7, 1952 in Wilson Boro, PA , a son of Evelyn Pauline Winger Haschak of Easton and the late Steve Haschak.
Personal: He served in the United States Army from 1972 until his retirement 1994 as a Staff Sergeant with service during the Vietnam War.
He was a graduate of Easton Area High School Class of 1970
Memberships: He was a member of the Seventh Ward Democratic Club, Order of the Fleas, Citizen Hose Co. and Concordia Maennerchor in Easton, Lester Pfeffer American Legion Post 611, Palmer Volunteer Fire CO #2 and Avona Volunteer Fire Co. of Wilson Boro
Survivors: a son Satch T. Haschak of Easton, and a sister Doreen K. Schmidt of Easton
Two brothers, Steven R. Haschack and Ronald R. Haschak preceded him in death.
Services: Military Services Thursday 8:00pm in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas Street in Palmer. Call Thursday 6:00-8:00pm in the funeral home.
Interment: will be private

Anthony P. Daniel
Anthony P. Daniel, 53, of Scranton died of a heart attack at his family's home in Easton on October 7, 2004.
Born: May 18, 1951 in Easton, PA he was the son of Joseph Daniel and Nora Haddad Daniel.
Personal: Anthony was married to the former Simone Yamin. He was a devout family man, loving son, brother, husband and father. He practiced law at his firm of Daniel & Daniel with offices in Scranton and Easton, PA. He was a graduate of Lafayette College class of 1973 and Temple University School of Law, 1978.
Memberships: He was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church 4th and Ferry Streets Easton, and Saint Ann's Maronite Catholic Church of Scranton, PA.
Survivors: In addition to his wife the former Simone Yamin, Anthony is also survived by his children, Simone, Joseph and Marina Daniel all at home, his mother Nora Haddad Daniel, two brothers Danny Daniel of Sydney Australia, and George Daniel of Easton.
Services: 1:15pm Monday in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas Street, Palmer PA. Followed by a 2:00pm Divine Liturgy in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church Easton. Call Sunday Night 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the funeral home, with Prayer of the Incense at 8:00pm. Interment will be private.

Beverly L. Heller
Beverly E. Heller, 66, of Easton, passed away Saturday November 27, 2004 in Warren Hospital, NJ.
Born: August 22, 1938 in Phillipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Margaret Rissmiller Macaulay.
Personal: Beverly and her husband Paul W. Heller celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this past May. Beverly was employed as a computer operator for Unisys for many years and recently as a billing administrator for Dr. Rayasam of Phillipsburg retiring in 2003. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School class of 1956 and Somerset Community College with a degree in computer science.
Memberships: She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Phillipsburg.
Survivors: In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, David Heller of Milford, NJ and James Heller of Pen Argyl, PA; Two daughters, Cheryl Heller of Easton and Vicky Hurley of Rochester, NY; a sister, Donna Lugg of Forks; two brothers, James Macaulay and Robert Macaulay both of Phillipsburg; a mother in law, Kathryn Heller of Phillipsburg and seven grandchildren, Kelly, Samantha, Nicole, Hannah, Amelia, Joseph and Jennie.
Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc. 3720 Nicholas St. Palmer, PA. Call hours are Tuesday 7:00pm until 9:00pm in the funeral home. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery.
Memorials: May be made to the Suburban E.M.S. 3231 Freemansburg Ave. Easton, PA 18045 and the American Cancer Society 2121 City Line Rd, Bethlehem, PA 18017

Salvatore J. Montoro
Salvatore J. Montoro, 83 of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away February 4, 2005 in Lehigh Valley Hospice.
Born: March 17, 1921 in Easton, PA he was the son of late Ralph and Carmela Mazza Montoro.
Personal: Salvatore's wife the former Alice Marshall preceded him in death in 1970. He was employed as a machine operator for Flock Embossing for many years retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Sangamon
Memberships: He was a member of Saint Phillip and Saint James Catholic Church of Phillipsburg, NJ and a lifetime member of their Holy Name Society; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Phillipsburg, NJ.
Survivors: He is survived by 3 brothers; Joseph of St. Petersburg, FL, Vincent and Dante 'Danny' both of Easton, and also several nieces and nephews, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters; Catherine Arcuri and Carmela Minotti and 6 brothers; Anthony, Ralph, Frank, Rocco, Paul and Angelo.
Services: 9:30am Tuesday in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc 3720 Nicholas Street Palmer, PA followed by 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 9th and Lehigh Streets Easton. Call Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30am in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Northampton Memorial Shrine Palmer PA.
Memorials: May be made to Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Emil L. "Basil" Badway
Emil L. 'Basil' Badway, 77, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away March 25, 2005, in the Italian Alps near Milan Italy while vacationing and visiting his son and his family.
Born: March 9, 1928, in Palmerton PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Zabeth Merhi Badway.
Personal: Emil and his wife the former Laura Marzuoli celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary July 1. He graduated from Temple University in 1953 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed as Vice President and Production manager for Glen Magnetics of Alpha NJ. He served in the US Navy on the USS Mindora from 1946 to 1948. Emil was a avid golfer and Yankee fan.
Memberships: He was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church 4th and Ferry Sts. Easton, The Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Oak Hill Golf Club of Milford NJ were he was a past Vice President and President.
Survivors: In addition to his wife; he is survived by sons, Robert Badway and his wife Beth of Forks Township, Richard Badway and his wife Barbara of Phillipsburg, Randy Badway and his wife Daniela of Milan Italy; A daughter Lori Hanni and her husband John of Forks Township; 8 Grandchildren; Amy, Nicole, Michael, Richard, Jr., Sean, and Martina Badway and Anthony and Callie Hanni; Sisters Selma Karam and her husband George of Palmer Township, Martha Russell and her husband Jim of Forks Township; Brothers Maurice Badway and his wife Cathy of Asbury NJ and Ernest Badway and his wife Louise of Alpha, NJ.
Services: 9:30am Saturday in the Morello Funeral Home, Inc 3720 Nicholas Street Palmer, PA followed a 10:00am Divine Liturgy in Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church. Call Friday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the funeral home with Pray of the Incense at 8:00pm, Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Township

George A. Merlo
George A. Merlo, 72, of Bethlehem Twp. passed away Saturday March 20th, 2004 in his home.
Born: He was born July 7, 1931 in Phillipsburg, NJ a son of the late Liborio and Maria Re Merlo.
Personal: Mr. Merlo retired in 1994 from the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission where he had worked for 20 years as a maintenance man. Prior to his employment with the bridge commission he worked for the former Sonoco products of Phillipsburg NJ. He served in the US Navy as a seaman during the Korean War aboard the USS John Hood and the USS Borie. He was a 1950 graduate of St. Philip and St. James Catholic High School.
Memberships: George was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Miller Heights. He was a former member of St. Philip and St. James Church in Phillipsburg. He was a life member of the Y.M.I.A. club in Phillipsburg, NJ.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife the former Margaret 'Peggy' Regrut with whom he celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on Oct. 2nd.; sons Michael J. and wife Kimberly of Flemington, NJ, Thomas S. and wife Claranne of Jamison, PA; daughters Karen M. Kostolanci and husband Frank of Bethlehem Twp., Denise A. Majewski and husband Michael of Queensbury, NY.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Katelyn Kostolanci; Jeffrey, Sarah and Hannah Merlo; Maegan and Michael Majewski; Thomas and Matthew Merlo.
A brother Samuel C. Merlo of Forks Twp. and a sister Mary M. Merlo of Phillipsburg also survive him.
George is preceded in death by and a brother Joseph F. Merlo and by his sisters Millie Petrignani, Josephine Franco, Lucy Ramunni, Edith Pruner, Susan Scerbo, Sarah Schuler.
Services: will be held Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas St. in Palmer Twp. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church First St. in Miller Heights.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
Interment: Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.

Frank Scalzo
Frank Scalzo 84, of Palmer Township, passed away Thursday May 13, 2004 in Easton Hospital.
Born: November 6, 1919 in Sommatina, Italy a son of the late Domenico and Calogera 'Lucy' Scalzo.
Personal: He was married for 59 years to the former Sadie C. Drago who passed away on November 11, 2002.
He and his wife performed professionally as Amazing Scalzo & Company, a professional magic act from 1954 to 1998 performing nationwide and internationally. Among their many achievements they performed as the opening act for Bob Hope , Jackie Mason, Cab Calloway and many other notables.
Frank and his wife received the Jack Gynne Excellence in Magic Award in 1969 and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Allentown Society of Magicians, Inc. in1999.
He served in the United states Army during World War II
Memberships: He was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Easton . and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Pope Pius XII Assembly in Easton.
He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 32 in Allentown where he was twice past president.
Survivors: A son Dominick Scalzo of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two daughters, Frances Austin of Fork Township and Lucy Esler of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; three grandchildren, and a great grandson.
Three sisters Jennie Mugavero,
Angie DeNardo and Josephine Scalzo, and a brother Amedeo Scalzo all preceded him in death.
Services: Monday 9:15am in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas Street in Easton followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic church 9th & Lehigh Streets in Easton. Call Sunday 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the funeral home.
