Stella Ann Miechur
May 22, 1931 - December 11, 2014
Stella Ann Miechur, 83, of Nazareth, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in St. Lukes Hospital, Anderson Campus.
Born: Stella was born in Phillipsburg, NJ, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Usas) Bobinis.
Personal: Stella was married to Frank T. Miechur, Sr, with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage last May 2.
Memberships: She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bath, PA.
Survivors: In addition to her husband, Stella is survived by her sons Frank T. Miechur, Jr and wife Josie of Nazareth, PA, Craig Miechur and wife Stella of Alpha, NJ, James Miechur of Nazareth; a daughter Diane Turdo and husband Frank of Nazareth, PA; her sisters Jenny Kornfeind of Northampton; grandchildren Keith, Brad, Trisha, Jennifer, Brian, and Matthew; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by several sisters and brothers: Stanley, Mickey, Tony, John, Ida, Annie, Veronica, Helen, and Josephine.
Services: A calling hour will be held on Monday from 1:00 pm to2:00 pm in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.
Memorial Contributions: Contributions in Stellas memory may be made to Gracedale Nursing Home, 2 Gracedale Avenue, Nazareth, PA 19064 or to Alzheimers Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Lester E. Zipf
August 23, 1924 - January 22, 2012
Lester E. Zipf, 87, of Nazareth, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 in St. Luke's Hospital.
BORN: August 23, 1924 in Bushkill Township, a son of the late William O. and Elsie J. Itterly Zipf.
PERSONAL: Lester was the husband of Annamay Meyers Zipf, with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage last June. He was last employed by ITT Electronics in Palmer Township for five years as a tester, retiring in 1988. Earlier in life, he worked at Bear Automotive Services Co in Bangor for 23 years, as a tester and foreman. For many years he also drove milk truck for Willauer Trucking in Belfast(Edelmans).
MEMBERSHIPS: He was a member of Schoeneck Moravian Church and the Moravian Historical Society, both in Nazareth.
SURVIVORS: In addition to his wife Annamay, Lester is survived by one brother, Robert, of Springfield, MO; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Weaver in 1993.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Schmidt Funeral Home P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, with the Rev. Terry Folk presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. till time of service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery.
MEMORIALS: Memorials in Lester's name may be made to Schoeneck Moravian Church, 316 N. Broad St. Ext., Nazareth, PA 18064.

Melvin Roth
October 26, 1926 - January 28, 2012
Melvin Roth, 85 of East Lawn, Nazareth, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his residence.
Born: October 20, 1926, in Northampton, he was a son of the late Isadore and Lillian Weiss Roth. He and his wife the former Joan Yodzio celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Personal: Mel was a graduate of Northampton High School. Following high school, he attended Widener Military Academy and later graduated from Muhlenberg College. He proudly served in the United States Army Infantry during WW II and the Korean Conflict. After his college and military service, Mel worked for his parents at the Roth Brothers furniture store in Northampton. In 1958, Mel opened the original Nazareth Furniture Store where he worked until retirement. Being a man of many interests, he was a commercial pilot for Monmouth Airlines in addition to being an avid photographer and amateur movie maker. He was a kind and generous man who was known to be very charitable within the community. Through out his life he was a member of numerous civic and social organizations.
Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by three sons, Michael J. and his wife Dina of Fredricksburg, VA., Jeffrey M. and his wife Mary Joan of Nazareth and Douglas E. and his wife Catherine of Leesburg, VA; one daughter Jennifer L. Roth of Freemansburg; one brother, Joel Roth of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Jean Mandel of Allentown and Beatrice Zimmet of Boston, MA; six grandchildren, Jessica Roth of Dallas, TX., Adam Roth of Bethlehem, Aaron Roth of Woodbridge, VA., Olivia Roth of Leesburg, VA., Hannah Roth of Nazareth and Phillip Roth of Leesburg, VA. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Hirsch, Henrietta Meltzer and Sally Lerman.
Memberships: He was a member of Temple Beth El in Allentown.
Services: A private memorial service was held in the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Interment will be private.

Doris T. Clark
November 9, 1927 - July 28, 2009
Doris T. Clark, age 81 of Nazareth, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem Township, Pa. Born November 9, 1927 in Pine Brook, NJ she was a daughter of the late George and Jean Wahkittel Porch. She and her husband Edwin celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Doris was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by one son, Robert T.; one brother Charles Porch; and one sister, Margaret Porth. She was predeceased by one sister, Ruth King.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth, Pa.

Joseph Baldanza
Joseph Baldanza age 59, of Lower Nazareth Township, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township.
Born: Born August 5, 1950 in Somerville, NJ, he was a son of Gertrude Geroto Baldanza of Manville, NJ and the late Joseph M. Baldanza. Joe and his wife, the former Sara Ruch, would have celebrated 29 years of marriage on January 30.
Joe was a self-educated engineer who formed his own packaging business. His business provided the opportunity for Joe to travel all over the world and to assist others through innovative solutions in their business endeavors. He was passionate about his work which he truly enjoyed. Generous and big hearted, Joe loved his family and took pride in providing for them. He worked hard to play hard. In his spare time, he enjoyed building model airplanes and flying radio controlled airplanes.
Survivors: In addition to his mother and beloved wife, 2 sons, Joseph III and his wife Karen of Nazareth, James and his wife Melissa of Florida; 1 daughter, Jennifer Heaton and her husband John of Nazareth; 1 brother, James and his wife Mary Ellen of New Jersey; 1 sister, Janet Seyfarth and her husband Jay of Colorado; 3 grandchildren, Joey, David and Matteo.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to call 2-4 pm Friday, with services starting at 4pm, in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Rev. Dr. Dean D. Frey will be presiding. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
Memorials: Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in Joe’s memory to Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s, Suite 200, 1510 Valley Center, Bethlehem, PA 18017, or to the American Cancer Society, Lehigh Valley Unit 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

Ernest S. Schubert Jr.
January 13, 1940 - January 23, 2010
Ernest S. Schubert Jr. age 70, of Bushkill Township, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, January 23, 2010.
Born: January 13, 1940, in Easton, he was the son of the late Ernest S. Schubert Sr. and Margaret Oris Schubert. His wife, the former Mary Ann Pewanick, died August 4, 2004.
Personal: Ernie was a graduate of Washington High School, Washington, NJ and the Dunwoody Institute for Baking in Minneapolis, MN. Upon his graduation from baking school, Ernie began his baking career by joining his father at New York Italian Bakery in Phillipsburg, NJ. Later, he branched out on his own and began Schubert’s Bakery in Nazareth. He, along with his wife, owned and operated the business for 35 years, from 1973 until 2008 when the business was sold. As a young man and through out his life, Ernie loved the outdoors. Besides playing golf, Ernie was an avid fisherman and hunter. In addition to his favorite pastimes, Ernie adored his grandchildren and he cherished time spent with them.
Survivors: a son, Eric E. of Nazareth; a daughter, Patricia K. Kennedy and her husband John of Forks Township; a sister, Marlene L. Kenlein of Nazareth and Palm Coast, Florida; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexandria Kennedy.
Services: A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 30, in his daughter’s home, from 1pm -5pm. Inurnment will be private in Northampton
Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township.

Richard W. Stocker Sr.
February 2, 1922 - January 27, 2010
Richard W. Stocker Sr. age 87, a native of Forks Township, passed away on January 27, 2010 at Country Meadows, in Bethlehem Township.
Born: February 2, 1922 in Easton, he was the oldest of twelve children born to the late David V. Stocker Sr. and Helen Santee Stocker.
His wife of 54 years, Leah Cornelius Stocker passed away in 2001.
Personal: Richard graduated from Easton High School class of 1939. He served 2 years in the Marine Corps and was stationed in Panama. Richard was one of the owners of Stocker Brothers Dairy, established in 1916 by his father and Uncle Paul Stocker. The dairy had the first milk jug store in the area, which still delivered milk door to door until the business dissolved in 1989. He loved and respected the cows, and wouldn’t lay a hand on them, even if they kicked at him when being milked. To him they were ladies and needed to be treated as such. After the partnership was dissolved, he bought a team of Percheron draft horses and participated in the Wind Gap 250th Anniversary Parade with them. When they passed he purchased a team of Belgians. He enjoyed gardening and giving his strawberries to friends and family. He was especially proud that he put his three grandchildren, Holly, Brianne and Michael through college. Richard was a member of New Creation U.C.C., in Wilson Boro, formerly St. Mark’s U.C.C. then Faith Unity U.C.C. in Easton.
Survivors: A son Richard W. Stocker Jr. of Lower Nazareth Township; 1 brother Kenneth, of Forks Township; 4 sisters, Christine Weiland of Nazareth, Virginia Brodt of Wind Gap, Elenora Kachline of Broadheadsville, Carolyn Knauss of Tatamy; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Susie Stocker, and Lorraine Serfass; brothers, David “Spike,” Clifford, Fred and George; and daughter in-law Priscilla Wettlaufer Stocker.
Services: Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday evening 7:00- 9:00pm and Monday from 10:00-11:00am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Cronin officiating. Burial will follow in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard may be offered to the New Creation U.C.C. Building Fund, 1913 Freemansburg Ave., Easton, PA 18042.

Richard H. "Pete" Peters
May 15, 1934 - January 28, 2010
Richard H. "Pete" Peters, age 75 of Nazareth, passed away Thursday January 28, 2010 in the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s, in Lower Saucon Township.
Born: May 15, 1934 in Tatamy, he was the son of the late Harold and Mabel Bartholomew Peters.
Personal: Richard was a graduate of Nazareth High School, Class of 1952. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1954-1958. Richard was a machine operator, for the former Dixie Cup in Wilson Boro, retiring after 47 years of service. His pastime enjoyment included bowling and going to the casinos. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Services: Saturday, February 6 at 11:00am in the Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Relatives and friends are invited to call 10:00am till time of service. Burial will be in Forks Cemetery.

Gertrude J. Dodendorf
October 9, 1908 - February 1, 2010
Gertrude J. Dodendorf age 101, formerly of Wind Gap, passed away Monday February 1, 2010 in Alexandria Manor, Bath.
Born: October 9, 1908 in Plainfield Township, she was the last surviving of 14 children born to the late Fillmore and Lillie Itterly Klump. From an early age, Gertrude was raised by her uncle and aunt, John and Rosa Itterly. Her husband Warren G. Dodendorf died September 4, 1964.
Personal: Gertrude worked as a sewing machined operator for various garment mills in the Wind Gap area. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Plainfield Township, UNITE garment worker’s union, and the Senior Citizens Group of Hope United Church of Christ in Wind Gap.
Survivors: Gertrude is survived by her only child, Shirley wife of Wilson C. Kessler of Plainfield Township; 1 sister, Ruth wife of Martin Anschau of Wind Gap; 1 grandson Barry Kessler of San Diego, CA; 1 great-granddaughter, Melissa Miles of Plainfield Township and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00am in Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 202 West St., Wind Gap. Relatives and friends are invited to call 10:00am until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Plainfield Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gertrude’s name may be offered to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Road, Pen Argyl, PA 18072.

Richard A. Darwin
June 21, 1955 - February 2, 2010
Richard A. Darwin, 54, passed away on February 2, 2010 in Hospice of Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ after a long bout with Lymphoma Cancer.
Born: Richard was born June 21, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a son of Robert Darwin of Forks Township, PA and Eleanor VanDyke Stevens of Bryn Mawr, PA.
Personal: Richard attended Harrington High School, in Lower Merion, PA and graduated from the University of Delaware. He also attended the United States Air Force Basic Pilot Training School but left prematurely due to family matters. He worked eight years in the Air Conditioning business with his father prior to attending Carbon County College Pilot Course training. He graduated from Carbon County College with honors and received F.A.A. private pilot and commercial pilot’s licenses. Subsequently, he worked as a Flight Instructor at North Philadelphia and Slatington Airports before founding the Blue Max Aviation School in Sussex, NJ, where he worked the last 10 years. Richard enjoyed designing military board games and was an avid researcher of military aviation history. He was in the process of writing a book on this topic. He also enjoyed playing with his children and was a devoted Christian. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors: Richard is survived by his mother, Eleanor VanDyke Stevens and step-father, Dr. Lloyd Stevens of Bryn Mawr; father Robert Darwin and step-mother Nancy Darwin of Forks Township; a brother, Dr. David Darwin and his wife Leah of Manilla, Philippines; a sister Susan Corl and her husband Todd of China; 2 sons, Raymond and James Darwin, and 2 daughters, Samantha and Sabrina Darwin all living with their mother Kathy Darwin of Easton, PA Richard was predeceased by a daughter Crystal Darwin.
Services: A funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Friday in Schmidt Funeral Home, PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. Relatives and friends are invited to call 1:00pm until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forks Cemetery.
