Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Margaret V. Berger
Margaret V. Berger, 96, formerly of 115 Carpenter St., Muncy, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, where she resided the past three years.
She married her husband, George D. Berger, in May 1962. He died March 10, 1967.
She was a graduate of Lock Haven Teachers College and previously taught in several one-room schools. In addition, she was employed by Weldons Manufacturing, Muncy.
She was a member of the Williamsport Chapter of DAR and the Monsey Chapter 481 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Micah White Shrine Chapter 28 and a member of the Rebekahs.
She was a member of St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Muncy.
Born March 21, 1905, in Lairdsville, she was the daughter of P.J. and Almeda Lunger Vandine.
Surviving are nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Edna Tebbs and Blanche Westburg, both formerly of Montgomery, and Helen Danley, formerly of Williamsport.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Wallis-Grenobles, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Donald P. Edwards. Interment will be in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Muncy, PA 17756.

James F. Sheatler
James F. Sheatler, 78, of Watsontown, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002. He was a veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Millie L. Kessler of Watsontown and Sherry L. Dyer of Elimsport; three grandchildren and one brother.
Friends may call 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Mahoning St., Milton. The funeral will follow at 2:30.
Arrangements by Cronraths, Watsontown.

Winifred Daisy Onyfrichuk
Winifred Daisy Onyfrichuk, 83, formerly of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at the Jersey Shore Hospital.
She was born in Lock Haven, May 12, 1918, a daughter of Edward and Ruth Jerles McCloskey. She was a waitress.
She is survived by a daughter, Teena Sessamen of Jersey Shore, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Her services will be at her familys convenience with burial in the Montoursville Cemetery.
Rearick-Carpenters, Jersey Shore.

Aldyne L. Dieffenbacher
Aldyne L. Dieffenbacher, 86, a resident of Valley View Nursing Center for the past year, died there Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002.
She worked for several years with her husband, Harry T. Dieffenbacher, who managed the former Hurrs Dairy Store in Muncy. He died Dec. 31, 1987.
She was a 1933 graduate of Montoursville High School. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Born Dec. 30, 1915, in Hughesville, she was the daughter of W. Ralph and Beatrice Bennett Lorah.
Surviving are one brother, Max E. Lorah of Safety Harbor, FL; one sister, Edna M. Clees of DuBois and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Officiating will be the Rev. D. Gene Patterson, pastor of Muncy Baptist Church.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Valley View Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, PA 17754.
Arrangements are being handled by Wallis-Grenobles, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Jessie Alberta Reese Harmon
Jessie Alberta Reese Harmon, 89, formerly of Hughesville, died April 5, 2002, at the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Unit.
Arrangements are being handled by McCarty-Thomas', 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.

Dorothy J. Ronemus
Dorothy J. Ronemus, 76, of 1107 Claire Road, Montoursville, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Sycamore Manor. Born Jan. 28, 1926, in South Williamsport, she was the daughter of Howard and Anna Reppard Brobst.
Dorothy was a registered nurse for the Divine Providence Hospital operating room. She was a member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church in Montoursville, where she was a trustee and a deacon. She was a graduate of Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing.
She and her husband, Lewis C. Ronemus, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 14, 2001.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her daughter, Carolyn R. (Jeffrey) Epler of Northumberland and a stepgrandson. She was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Schultz.
There will be a memorial service Sunday at 4 p.m. at Montoursville Presbyterian Church with her pastor, Rev. G. Oliver Wagner, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the church Sunday from 3:30-4 p.m.
Arrangements by Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., Montoursville, PA 17754.

Bobbi M. Woodring
Bobbi M. Woodring, son of Robert L. Woodring, Jr. and Denise M. Cohick Woodring, of 1586 Randall Circle, was dead at birth on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in Geisinger Medical Center.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Thomas and Michael Cohick; grandparents Cindy and Larry Beaver, Jean and Robert Woodring, Sr. and Shirley and Michael Lose; great grandparents Elma Driscoll, Dean Sherman and Romaine Woodring and great-great-grandmother, Kathleen Mall.
Graveside services were held Thursday in Twin Hills.

Chauncey E. Heinze
Chauncey E. Heinze, 69, of 613 Blaine St., died Feb. 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born in Shunk, April 12, 1932, a son of Frederick and Carrie Herb Heinze. He married Kathryn Temple April 12, 1954, and she survives.
He was a truck driver for 50 years with various trucking firms including Halls Motor Freight and Sunrise Industries. He was a teamster member.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Kenneth E. Heinze of Williamsport; three sisters, Grace Mullner of Williamsport, Betty Hurley of Bodines and Doris Paulhamus of Linden; one brother, Charles Heinze of Montoursville; two grandchildren, Carrie and Chris and 28 nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at Manevals, "A Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth St. with visitation from 6-8 p.m. Rev. Lou Dichlaccio will preside.

Edith Jean Knode
Edith Jean Irvin Knode, 80, of College Park, Md., a native of Williamsport, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md.
Born July 30, 1921, she was a daughter of Edward H. and Catherine Gildner Irvin and a graduate of South Williamsport High School.
Mrs. Knode was widowed from her husband, Alfred G. Knode who was killed in action serving military duty in France in October of 1944.
Surviving her are her son, Daniel E. Knode of College Park, Md. and her sister, Mrs. Eleanor Drawbaugh of this city. Two brothers, Daniel W. and Charles A. Irvin predeceased her.
The funeral will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Gasch's Funeral Home in Hyattsville, Md. Burial will be with her late husband at Arlington National Cemetery.

John Carl Fenstermaker
John Carl Fenstermaker, 93, of Hughesville and formerly of the Lairdsville area died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the Muncy Valley Hospital SNU. He and his wife, the former Grace L. Boudman, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Dec. 4.
Born March 25, 1908, in Franklin Twp., he was a son of the late John and Anna Renn Fenstermaker. Retiring in 1963, Carl had worked for PennDOT and Franklin Twp., servicing area roads. He was a member of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lairdsville. He loved gardening and had formerly sold produce from his gardens.
Carl is survived by nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Chester and Murrel and a sister, Florence Welliver.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCarty-Thomas, 557 E. Water St. in Hughesville with Rev. Kathleen Shuck officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the St. Marks Evan. Lutheran Church, Box 87, Lairdsville, PA 17742.

Dale R. Kiess
Dale R. Kiess, 69, of 463 Kiess Hill Road, Jersey Shore, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in the Williamsport Hospital.
He was married to the former Rhoda L. Hall; they observed their 44th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2001.
He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of Lycoming Christian Church.
He was born on May 16, 1932, in Jersey Shore, a son of Joseph and Martha Ulmer Kiess.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law, David J. (Judy) and Ernest W. (Laura), both of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Marilyn J. Kiess of Jersey Shore; six grandchildren; a niece, Faith Henry of Williamsport and a sister, Viola Miller of Jersey Shore.
There will be a Funeral Celebration to the Glory of God on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Lycoming Christian Church, 20 Chapel Hill Road, Linden, with Revs. Mark A. Beard, Ron D. Savits and Jerry A. Cline officiating. There will be a visitation on Sunday at Knight-Confers, 1914 Memorial Ave., from 2-4 p.m. Interment will be in State Road Cemetery.

Steven Leskoven Sr.
Steven Leskoven Sr., 91, of Wilmot Twp., passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at home.
Surviving are a son, Stephen J. Leskoven, Jr. of Wilmot and two daughters, Lynn "Cookie" Rowen of Troop and Mary Ann Napersky of Kingston.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water Street, Dushore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Basils, Dushore. Visitation 9 a.m. till time of service.
