Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Kathleen A. Morris
Kathleen A. Morris, 54 of 513 Bennett St., Montoursville, died Monday, December 24, 2001, in Valley View Nursing Center.
She was born September 1, 1947 in Williamsport a daughter of Howard and Mary Nesbit Kisner. She was a homemaker.
Surviving is a daughter Michelle R. Runyon (Damon) with whom she lived; a son Michael J. Morris (Hilari), of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Dustin and Brittany Runyon, and Austin James Morris; a brother Richard Kisner of North Carolina; and dear friends John and Audra and family. She was preceded in death by two sons Brian D. Sharrow and Jeffrey D. Sharrow.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Friday at Church of Our Savior, 31 North Loyalsock Ave. Montoursville, with the Rev. Lynn D. Sinnott officiating.

Marion M. Fischer
Marion M. Fischer, 79, of Woodland Ave., Williamsport, died Saturday, December 22, in Elmira, NY. She was the widow of Herman W. Fischer who died December 22, 1980.
She was born in Northumberland County February 2, 1922, the daughter of Gaylor W. and Mary R. Reynolds Hartman; and was a 1939 graduate of Montgomery High School. She had worked as a machine operator for U. S. Ribbon in Williamsport.
Marion and her husband had operated the Senate Grill until 1981. She was a member of Gesang Verein Harmonia Clubs Womans Chorus and a loving mother.
She is survived by two sons Kerry and his wife Kay Fischer of Harrisburg, and Herman K. and his wife Bonnie Fischer of Montoursville, a daughter Carol and her husband Mike Carson of Corning, NY, seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
One brother Bill Hartman and two sisters Pauline Summers, and Minnie Campbell preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 26, at 6 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Allen & Redmond Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Rebecca Twine
Dorothy Rebecca Twine, 72, died Dec. 23, 2001, at her West Fourth St. apartment.
Funeral services will be under the direction of the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St.

Rebecca J. Confer
Rebecca J. Confer, 71, of 925 White Hall Road, Danville, died 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at the Muncy Valley Hospital emergency room.
Born in Unityville, Sept. 19, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Hurley and Julie Reese Trivelpiece. She attended Millville High School.
Confer was a member of White Hall Baptist Church.
She had been employed as a cook for the Boone Nursing Home, Eyers Grove.
Most of her life was spent in Montour County, the last 42 years at her present address.
In addition to her parents, the following siblings also predeceased her in death; six brothers, Leroy, Carl, Eugene, Atwood, Donald and Glen Trivelpiece and two sisters, Mabel Laubach and Naomi Peterman.
Surviving is her husband, Jay R. Confer, to whom she was married Aug. 28, 1948. Also surviving are two sons; Jay E. Confer and John S. Confer, both of Danville; a daughter, Peggy Ann; brother, Larue Trivelpiece, rural Milton and four sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Ruth) Magargle and Emma Brouse, both of Turbotville, Grace Stackhouse and Mrs. Rovert (Freda) Shaner, both of Muncy.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the White Hall Baptist Church, with her pastor, the Rev. Donald Miller, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family, Post-Bunnell Funeral Home, Main St., Millville, is in charge of arrangements.

William M. Cline
William M. Cline, 69, 229 West Second Avenue, South Williamsport, PA, died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at his home.
Mr. Cline retired from Faxon Lanes after 35 years of service.
He was a graduate of the Williamsport High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Williamsport, and had been a greeter at the church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Cline was widowed on this past July 9, 2001. He and his wife, the former Arlene B. "Nancy" Kinley, observed 46 years of marriage together.
He was born January 4, 1932, at Williamsport, the son of the late George E. Sr., and Margaret E. Miller Cline.
Surviving are four sons, W. Mark, Williamsport, Douglas W., Mechanicsburg, Gary D., Jersey Shore, and Eric A. Tobyhanna, eight grandchildren, one brother, George E. Jr., Ruskin, Fla., and one sister, Eleanore Bennett, Montoursville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd., Williamsport. The Rev. Roy D. Meyer, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Green Lawn Memorial Park. Montgomery, PA. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Flowers will be provided.
Contributions in memory of Mr. William M. Cline may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1101 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA. 17701.

Lester G. Barker
Lester G. Barker, 60, of 330 Railroad St., Jersey Shore, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Coventry House of Fox Chase Hospital in Philadelphia.
He was born Nov. 7, 1941, in Jersey Shore, a son of Foster G. "Fuzz" and Alice L. Marks Barker. He was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the early 60s. He married the former Connie Schneider on June 2, 1962, and she survives.
For 16 years, he was the owner and operator of the Venture Inn on Rt. 44 north of Jersey Shore. He was also employed from 1995 until the present part-time by Enterprise Car Rental.
Early in his life, he attended St. Lukes Catholic Church in Jersey Shore. He was a life member of the Jersey Shore American Legion post 36 and was a member of the Jersey Shore Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 214. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling and was an avid Penn State football fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Denise A. Braim of Jersey Shore and Michelle D. Smeal of Avis; one son, Michael G. Barker of Jersey Shore; one brother, James F. Barker of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Lana J. Miller of Pahoa, HI; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral and vigil services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Rev. Andrew S. Hvozdovic, priest of the Church of St. Luke in Jersey Shore, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-9 p.m.
His family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Lycoming Unit, 1948 E 3rd St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Eugene Franklin Houser Sr.
Eugene "Gene" Franklin Houser, Sr., 75, of New Columbia, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at the Evangelical Community Hospital. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; a son, Eugene F.; a daughter, Linda J. Rea and two brothers, Wayne and Kenneth.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cronrath Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown. Visitation will be 10-11.

Mary H. Burkhardt
Mary H. Burkhardt, 99, formerly of Clayton Ave., and most recently of Manor Care, Williamsport, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Williamsport Hospital. The daughter of George C. and Amanda Walizer Stover, she was born Feb. 12, 1902, in Parvin. She was married to Walter L. Burkhardt, who died Oct. 28, 1973.
She was a member of Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with her pastor, Rev. Ronald O. Doan, officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville. Friends will be received in the funeral home Thursday 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Marion Fischer
Marion Fischer, 79, formerly of Williamsport, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, in the Arnot Odgen Medical Center, Elmira, N.Y. Arrangements are being handled by Allen-Redmonds, 331 Elmira St.

Francis B. Paris Jr.
Francis B. Paris, Sr., 72, a brother of city resident Charles Paris and a Montoursville native, died Dec. 13, 2001, in Tallahassee, FL, where he had resided since 1974.
He retired as the District Manager in Tallahassee for NCR after 40 years with the company.
He was a member of Good Shepard Catholic Church, Tallahassee and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He and his wife, the former Ann Clare McKernan, had been married for 49 years.
Surviving besides his wife, are one son, Francis Paris of Tampa, FL; five daughters, Debra Wright, Denise Fackender, Sandra Bellflower and Lisa Chason, all of Tallahassee and Michele Walker of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a brother, James Paris of Dover, DE; a sister, Helen Harbold of Harrisburg and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Good Shepard Catholic Church, Tallahassee on Monday at 10 a.m. Culley Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 241 John Knox Road, Suite 100, Tallahassee, FL 32303.

Ronald I. Gilbert
Ronald I. Gilbert, 52, of Campbell, NY, formerly of Tioga, died unexpectedly at his home. He is survived by two brothers, Frederick W. of Galeton and Michael T. of Tioga; a sister, Linda West of Wellsboro and a special nephew Harry.
A private service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church, Wellsboro. Buckheit Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.

Opha A. Hughes
Opha A. Hughes, 84, a resident of the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, died there Thursday, December 13, 2001. She formerly lived at R.D. 4, Muncy.
Her husband of 43 years, Robert S. Hughes, died May 10, 1990.
She was a member of the Muncy Baptist Church.
She worked eight years during the 1940s for Goodyear Rubber Co. in Gadsen, AL. She was a member of the Monsey Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Muncy Womans Club.
Born February 28, 1917, in Boaz, AL, she was the daughter of Emmett Franklin and Martha Ann Ellis Johnson.
Surviving are one son, Richard S. Hughes, of Bellefonte; one brother, C.J. Johnson and one sister, Dorothy Hubbard, both of Boaz, AL.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Wallis-Grenobles, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be the Rev. D. Gene Patterson, her pastor. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
