Raymond C. “Pete” Parrish
(Formerly of Independence Twp.)

Raymond C. “Pete” Parrish, 55, of Midland, PA, passed away Sunday, February 08, 2004 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 19, 1948 in Independence Twp., a son of the late Homer and Bertha Parrish, he was a member of the Christian Assembly Church, Midland. Pete worked as a crane and heavy equipment operator for the DW Dicky Corp., East Liverpool. He was also a US Army Veteran who proudly served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post - and the American Legion Post -. Pete was a loving soul who shared a great love for animals as well as life itself. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Carolyn (Taylor) Parrish, Midland; a God son, Douglas Taylor, Jr., Latrobe; seven sisters, Leona Daniels, Hookstown, Norma Alimena, Aliquippa, Sarah Kane, Vanport, Mrs. Rollin (Irene) Monter, NewComerstown, OH, Mrs. John (MaryAnn) Fazikas, Chester, WV, Mrs. Frank (Loretta) Reed, Georgetown and Mrs. Tony(Vesta) Vickodil, Monaca; five brothers, Lawrence Parrish, Hazel Park, MI, Norman Parrish, Saudi Arabia, Lee Parrish, Aliquippa, Glenn Parrish, Clinton and Homer Parrish, Monaca; a mother-in-law, Bertha Taylor, Independence; six brothers-in-law, Olaf Taylor, Jr., Independence, Frank Taylor and wife Marian, Hopewell, Ed Taylor, Independence, Mark Taylor, Independence, Robert Taylor, Independence and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Taylor, Latrobe; two sisters-in-law, Marion Pershin and husband, Ed, Robinson and Diana Taylor, Butler. Pete is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Olaf Taylor.

The family would like to thank the staff of Family Hospice for their love and care that they provided through this difficult time.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am.

Interment will follow in the John Anderson Cemetery, Raccoon Twp.

The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 11:45am in the cemetery to perform full military honors.

Margaret “Peg” Kalmar

Margaret “Peg” Kalmar, 86, of Aliquippa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2004.

Born Jan. 24, 1918 in West Aliquippa, a daughter of the late Peter and Anna Zovath, she was a member of the St. Titus Parish, St. Joseph’s Worship Site where she was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was a home maker her entire life who enjoyed quality time with her family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Kalmar and wife Kathleen, Center Twp.; a daughter, Margaret Mary Kalmar, Youngstown, OH; four beautiful granddaughters, Meghan Kalmar, Shadyside, Kelly Kalmar, Center Twp., Caitlin and Cristin McGrail, both of Youngstown, OH; a great granddaughter, Emily Eileen McGrail, Youngstown, OH; two brothers, John Zovath and wife Esther, Aliquippa and Peter Zovath and wife Betty, Aliquippa. She is also survived by many special and loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William J. Kalmar; a son, William Kalmar and five sisters, Mary Bradovich, Ann Costo, Elizabeth Golixer, Julia Feltenberg and Helen Steinbach.

Peg was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and special friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the St. Joseph’s Worship Site, West Aliquippa.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peg’s name to the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.

Rose M. Herda

Rose M. Herda, 92, formerly of Hopewell Twp., passed away February 21, 2004 in the Villa St. Joseph of Baden.

Born Nov. 4 1911 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Rose and Joseph Gruber, Burgettstown, PA. She was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Twp., where she was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Rose loved to cook, bake and entertain and was always ready and eager to share her meals with family and friends.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Sheryl (William) King, Roswell, GA and Kelly Maloy, Atlanta, GA; a son-in-law, Frank Maloy, Fla; two sisters, Dorothy Dalesio, Hopewell Twp. and Louise Sellitti, Weirton, WV; a brother, Edward Gruber, Burgettstown and a loving niece, Nancy Janicki and husband John, Hopewell Twp., as well as many other loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Herda; a daughter, Margaret Maloy; sisters, Mary, Virginia and Margaret, and a brother Joseph.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Fontbonne Unit at Villa St. Joseph for their love, devotion and concern shown to Rose while she was a resident.

Friends will be received on Monday from 6-8pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Twp.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s name to the Villa St. Joseph of Baden, 1030 State Street, Baden, PA 15005.

Barbara J. Haramic/Kisan
(Formerly of Aliquippa)

Barbara J. Haramic/Kisan, 92, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 29, 2004.

Born June 3, 1911 in Aliquippa, PA, a daughter of the late Paul and Barbara Kapitanic, she was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa while being a home maker her entire life. She also served as Secretary for many years at the Croatian Fraternal Organization.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Koman and husband Bill, St. Louis and Janice Pulpan and husband Edward, Medford, OR; one son, Joseph Haramic and wife Mary Ann, Beaver. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Slavo Kisan and her former husband, Joseph J. Haramic.

Barbara was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be private and entrusted to the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.

Interment followed in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Paul A. Rosa

Paul A. Rosa, 89, of Aliquippa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2004 in the Friendship Ridge Nursing Home.

Born May 19, 1914 in Farmington, WV, a son of the late Paul and Julia Rosa, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. He was a former owner of the Rosa Body Shop in Hopewell Twp. Paul was an avid fisherman and hunter who shared a great love for the outdoors. He also took great pride in his gardening, which was the joy of his life.

He is survived by a son, Paul Rosa, Jr. and wife Carol, Center Twp; two daughters, Mary Ellen Drew, Savannah, GA and Kathryn Hetzer and husband Bill, Monaca; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Rosa, Center Twp.; 14 grandchildren, Karen, Patty, Nancy, Paul III, Sarah and Dan Rosa, Sue, Chris, John and Mike Rosa, Justin and Cathie Drew and Will and Damian Hetzer; 9 great-grandchildren, Billy, Kailey and Ian Beckwith, Richie Kluck, Zachary Rosa and Abbi and Damian Drew, and Jacob and Joshua Hetzer; a brother, James “Shun” Rosa, Perryopolis, PA; six sisters, Ann, Sue, Margaret, Mary, Pearl and Irene. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Gladys Rosa; a son, Leo “Butch” Rosa and two brothers, Albert and Steve Rosa.

Paul was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Paul’s family would like to thank the staff of Friendship Ridge for the special care and kindness shown over the past year and a half.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to the Friendship Ridge Nursing Home, 246 Friendship Circle, Beaver, PA 15009.

We will miss you dad but God’s garden in heaven will never be quite the same.

Julia E. Zarecki/ Petarchek
Formerly of Mckees Rocks

Julia E. Zarecki/ Petarchek, 78, of Hopewell Twp. passed away Thursday, November 06, 2003 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born Nov. 25, 1924 in Portage, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Shandor, she was a secretary at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Mckees Rocks for 19 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Russo(Petarchek) and husband Dominic, Charlotte, NC and Debra Garcia and husband Timothy, Center Twp.; two brothers, Michael Shandor and wife Nancy, Kingman, AZ and George Shandor and wife Elsie, Cleveland, OH; one sister, Ann Baith, Portage, PA and one very special grandson, Tadd Garcia, Center Twp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Petarchek; four brothers, Frank, Joseph, John and Andrew Shandor and two sisters, Mary Paine and Helen Osterrider.

Julia was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all, especially her grandson, Tadd.

A private service will be conducted by Pastor Alan Drake and will be handled by Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St, Aliquippa.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kennedy Twp.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Julia’s name to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Evecutive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.

Andrew J. “Andy” Fedak

Andrew J. “Andy” Fedak, 88, of Aliquippa, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 30, 1915 in Aliquippa, a son of the late Andrew J. and Ella Fedak, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. He was a retired member of the Brotherhood of Painters Union Local 530, New Brighton. He was a US Army Veteran who proudly served during WW II, earning an American Defense Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, a Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal. He performed regular duties of Rifleman with the 155th Infantry, 31st Division in the South Pacific, New Gueinea, Moratai, Mindaao and the South Phillipines. He also received a Combat Infantry Badge. Andy loved telling stories, traveling, being with friends, and corresponding with a variety of people on the short-wave radio. Andy was a loving uncle and friend who brought great joy to life.

He is survived by a niece, Judy McCauley and husband Robert, Bryson City, NC; three nephews, Gary Fedak, East Palestine, OH and William and David Fedak, Utah; a niece, Robin Vazquez, Aliquippa. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer A. and Rudolph Fedak.

Friends will be received on Friday from 10am till the time of the blessing service at 12pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Beaver Co. Special Unit is to meet in the cemetery at 12:30pm to provide full military honors.

Pearl (Walton) Roby Linden

Pearl (Walton) Roby Linden, 73, of Conway, PA passed away peacefully Thursday, March 18, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born April 26, 1930 in Kanawha Head, WV, a daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Walton, she was a member of the Conway United Presbyterian Church. She was a waitress for over 40 years at Alexander’s Restaurant in Ambridge. Pearl’s most important thing in life was her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a former husband, Clay Roby; a son Paul Roby and wife Casandra, Conway; a daughter-in-law, Andrea Roby, Aliquippa; two grandchildren, John Roby, Virginia Beach and Heather Roby, New Brighton; three great-grandchildren, Noah and Taylor Roby and Timmy Barton; a brother, French Walton, OH; four sisters, Elsie Fitzgerald, WV, Margie Sites, WV, Lena Hardman, FL and Joy Gregory, WV; a niece Judy Ciukowski, OH. She is also survived by various nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Linden; a son, Larry Roby, two brothers, Macil and Landis Walton and a sister, Catherine Heater.

Friends will be received on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10am.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

John Kubanda

John Kubanda, 86, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born July 24, 1917 in Treisov, Slovakia, a son of the late John and Anna (Durisin) Kubanda, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a former employee of the J&L; (LTV) Steel Corp., where he worked as a Shearman in the Seamless Tube Hot Mill Division. He was a lifelong member of the US Steel Workers Union Local 1211. He was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union “Jedonta” Branch 587. He was a US Army Veteran who proudly served during WWII having been stationed in NewFoundland and later he was transferred to the US Army Air Corps. in Texas. Upon his honorable discharge, he held the rank of Corporal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen ( Zbojovsky) Kubanda, Hopewell; two sons, John J. Kubanda and friend Marilu Piotrowski, Hopewell and M. George Kubanda and wife Ann, Sugarland, TX; two grandsons, Michael D. and Mathew P. Kubanda, Sugarland, TX; two sisters, Mary Hospodar, Slovakia and Barbara Shyan, Hopewell; a nephew, Richard T. Shyan, Aliquippa; a niece, Barbara ( Shyan) Campbell and husband Raymond, Big Beaver; a great niece, Christy Campbell, Pittsburgh and a great nephew, Brian J. Campbell, Big Beaver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael T. Kubanda; a sister, Anna Girman; three brothers-in-law, Jozef Girman, John Shyan and Anton Hospodar.

John was a devoted family man who loved his wife and children and was very proud of his grandsons for their academic and athletic achievements. He also shared a great love for the Steelers and Pirates. However, his greatest enjoyment came when he listened to music, especially the polkas. He was an unassuming, quiet man who leaves a great void behind him in the lives of all his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Monday at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Holy Name Society will meet Sunday at 3pm in the funeral home to provide a rosary service.

The Beaver CO. Special unit will meet in the cemetery at 10:30am to provide full military honors.

Quincy Jerome Mack McCray

Quincy Jerome Mack McCray, the 24 week gestation infant son of Christopher Jerome Mack and Dana Lynn McCray went to be with the lord on Wednesday, March 24, 2004.

He was born Feb. 5, 2004 in Magee Women’s Hospital. Quincy is now one of God’s special little angles, looking over his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Jasmine Mack; his paternal grandparents, Franklyn and Sandy Bradley, CT; his maternal grandparents, Diane (Cafrelli) McCray, Hopewell and Eugene McCray, Beaver Falls. He is also survived by many loving cousins, aunts and uncles.

Quincy’s family would like to thank the staff of Magee Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital for the compassion and support shown through this difficult time.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 9am until the time of the blessing service at 11am in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.

A private interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
