Susan Michelle (Harris) Sambol

Susan Michelle (Harris) Sambol, 49, of Raccoon Twp. was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 at home. Sue fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for nearly three years and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Born Nov. 27, 1954 in Sewickley, PA, a daughter of D. Russell and Billie Harris, she was a 1972 graduate of Hopewell High School and the Sewickley Valley Nursing School. She worked at Aliquippa Community Hospital for 26 years and the Health South Rehabilitation Hospital for 6 months.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 12 years, James J. Sambol III, Raccoon Twp. who cared for her throughout the battle and her final days; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela Caplinger and husband Donald, Hopewell and Amy Falcon and husband Anthony, Las Vegas; two nieces and a nephew, Danielle and Derek Caplinger, Monaca and Winter Sky Falcon, Las Vegas. She was also survived by several additional brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Harris.

Friends will be received on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am with Pastor Clyde Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Sam R. Sells

Sam R. Sells, 83, of Hopewell Twp. passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in the Medical Center, Beaver.

Born Sept. 5, 1920 in Kingsport, TN, he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Myrtle B. Sells. Sam was a US Army Veteran who proudly served during WW II. He was also a great truck driver who will be greatly missed and always remembered.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy M. Sells, Hopewell; three sons, Robert R. Sells and friend Sylvia Odachowski, Crescent, PA, Joseph J. Sells, Allentown, PA and Paul E. Sells, Boswell, PA; two daughters, Judith M. Hoffer, Gahana, OH and Mary Ann Sells and husband Dr. Jonathan Chernoff, Jenkintown, PA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two beautiful great-grandchildren, as well as special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Aurthur Rudis, Ambridge and Randy Young, Fla.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will follow at 8pm on Saturday.

A private interment will follow in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Edward C. “Head Gear” Maly

Edward C. “Head Gear” Maly, 74, of Center Twp., passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born, June 27, 1929 in West Aliquippa, a son of the late John and Mary Maly, he was a life-long member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. He was a retired employee from the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. and the State Store. He was also a member of the West Aliquippa Eagles. He was an avid sports fan who spent much of his time tracking his pride and joy, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Head Gear was a great friend, who will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by three sisters. Elsie Lucci and husband Robert, Center Twp., Dorothy Lucci, Center Twp. and Rita Maly, Aliquippa; a special niece, Lisa Lucci; a nephew and three nieces who he lived with, Thomas Lucci, Denise Bennsky, Lynn Lucci and Carolyn Moltzen. He is also survived by several additional special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, John Maly and two sisters, Mary Guido and Virginia “Betty” Yanko.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Monday at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Beatrice I. Dowling

Beatrice I. Dowling, 83, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in the Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 4, 1920 in Nemacolon, PA, a daughter of the late James and Margaret Guesman, she was a homemaker her entire life.

She is survived by two sons, William R. Dowling and wife Peggy, Crescent, PA and James E. Dowling, Hopewell Twp.; five grandchildren, Jeff Dowling and wife Deneen, Center Twp., Shon Dowling, Hopewell Twp., Jamie L. Dowling and friend John Cunningham, Aliquippa, and Jason Dowling, Crescent, PA; five great grandchildren, Bill, Nicholas, Tyler, Kalene and Michael Dowling; one sister, Marge Waggett and husband Bill, Butler, PA.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William L. Dowling and three sisters, Nellie David, Dottie Wayne and Mary Ullery.

Beatrice was a loving mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am with Rev. Jack Patrick officiating.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

John P. Persi

John P. Persi, 84, of Hopewell Twp. passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 13, 2004 in the Friendship Ridge Geriatric Center.

Born Oct. 14, 1919 in Hermanie, PA, a son of the late Natalino and Louise Persi, he was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Twp. John was a retired employee of the Aliquippa Fire Department and the EWL Trucking Co., Inc. in Center Twp. He was a member of the MPI Club and AARP. He was also a US Army Veteran who proudly served during WW II. John was well liked by everyone and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Emma Persi, Hopewell Twp; two sons, John Persi and wife Josie, Hopewell and Pete Persi and wife Lori, Center Twp; two beautiful grandchildren, Joshua and Lindsey Persi, Center Twp; a brother, Louis Persi and wife Marlene, Aliquippa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Leasha and Evelyn Joseph.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Thursday at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Beaver County Special Unit will meet Thursday at 9:30am in the funeral home to provide military honors.

Jeffrey D. Cook

Jeffrey D. Cook, 38, of West Aliquippa, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born July 3, 1965, in Rochester, PA, a son of John and Margaret Smith, he was a 1984 graduate of Beaver High School and was a member of the Shannonpin Methodist Church, South Heights.

Jeff was an auto body technician who had a passion for Classic cars and was a member of the Cruiz in Few Car Club.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Christine Cook; two beautiful daughters, Cassandra and Courtney Cook; a grandmother, Becky Smith, Brighton Twp. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by a grandmother, Frances Lehocky and two aunts, Norma Loncar and Louise Lehocky.

Jeffrey was a loving husband and devoted father who will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Friends will be received on Monday from 5-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10am.

Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UPMC Family House, 242 McKee Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

Stanley J. “Skip” Kon

Stanley J. “Skip” Kon, 84 of Center Twp., passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Dec. 28, 1919 in Ambridge, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Kon, he was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. He was a retired employee of LTV Steel Corp. He was also a US Army Veteran with the 6th Armored Division who proudly served during WW II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thaddeus “Ted”, Alex and Edward.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Kon, Center Twp.; three sons, Gary, Robert and Lawrence Kon; two grandchildren, Julianna and Kevin; a sister, Ann DeFino, Philadelphia; two brothers-in-law, Michael Komar and John and Florence Komar. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 5-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Monday at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Beaver Count Special Unit will meet at 9am in the funeral home to provide military honors.

Carmen L. Perri

Carmen L. Perri, 63 0f Center Twp. passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 14, 1941 in McKeesport, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Grace Perri, he was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Carmen was a retired employee of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh. He was also a member of the Laborers Local 1058. Carmen was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Irene Carol (Lenze) Perri, Center Twp.; a daughter, Tracy Davison and husband Robert, Center Twp.; two sons, Tom A. Perri and girlfriend Tammi, Hopewell and Tony J. Perri and girlfriend Natalie, Aliquippa; three beautiful grandchildren, Alexander and Trevor Davison, Center Twp. and Madison Conova, Hopewell; two brothers, Joe Perri and wife Barbara, N. Huntington and Fortunato Perri and wife Patricia, McKeesport; a sister, Filomena Perri, N. Huntington and a sister-in-law, Loretta Perri. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as a special baby grandchild on the way.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Frank Perri; and a sister, Patricia Tossone.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-9pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Saturday at 9:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.

Interment will follow in the St. John’s Cemetery, Monaca.

Rose V. Frederick

Rose V. Frederick, 96, of Aliquippa, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 in the Aliquippa Community Hospital.

Born March 17, 1908 in Ambridge, PA, a daughter of the late Andrew and Theresa Duda, she was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa, where she was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Altar and Rosary Society. Rose also enjoyed her bingo and gambling. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Frederick; five brothers, John, Andrew, Joseph, Steve and George and a sister, Mary Bayuse.

She is survived by a niece and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday from 4 until the time of the blessing service at 8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa.

A private interment will follow in the Divine Redeemer Cemetery, Fair Oaks.

Henry W. Ulat

Henry W. Ulat, 87 of Hopewell Twp., passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004 in the Worthington at Adams Assisted Living Center.

Born February 26, 1917 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Frank and Valerie Ulatowski, he was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell, where he was a former member of the choir and lector and greeter coordinator. He was also the former President and Vice President of the Hopewell Senior Citizens and a member of the CIO Local 1211. Henry was also a member of the Sewickley Orchestra, Men of Melody Chorus and the YMCA Retired Men’s Club, New Brighton.

He is survived by two daughters, Joan Fruehstorfer and husband Thomas, Indiana, PA and Loisrae Mitchell and husband Paul, Marietta, GA; one sister, Ann Morningstar, FL; seven grandchildren, Karen Toner, Thomas and Kenneth Fruehstorfer, Tracey Sheets, Megan Ray, Kevin Mitchell and Sarah Davis and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Marie Brickta.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Regina Ulat; a brother, Bruno Ulatowski and a three sisters, Stella Williams Gertrude Davic and Henrietta Bledsoe.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, Rt. 18, Monaca, PA 15061.

Thomas K. Eyerly

Thomas K. Eyerly, 73, of Hopewell Twp. passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004.

Born March 26, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Harry C. and Florence Eyerly, he was a member of the Ohio United Presbyterian Church, Hopewell Twp. Tom was a former electronics technician for the LTV Steel Corp. and currently worked for the Aliquippa Water Authority. He was also a US Army Veteran who proudly served during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed traveling, reunions with the FS 8611 Bomberholders and quality time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, June Eyerly, Hopewell; two daughters, Rose Mary Boyer and husband Curtis, Monaca and Nancy J. Hartzfeld and husband Bryan, Luthersburg, PA; two sons, Thomas K. Eyerly, Las Vegas and Kenneth J. Eyerly and wife Anna, Hookstown; a brother, Harry C. Eyerly, Aliquippa; three grandchildren, Thomas Boyer and wife Marianne, Hopewell, Mark Hartzfeld, Luthersburg and Amber Boyer, Monaca. He is also survived by a special friend, Dennis Bires and wife Jan, Hopewell.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am, with Rev. Ted Dennis officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

The Beaver Count Special Unit will meet at Sylvania Hills on Thursday at 12pm to perform military honors.

Thomas R. Dolnack

Thomas R. Dolnack, 74, of Hopewell Twp., passed away, Saturday, September 18, 2004 in the Friendship Ridge Nursing Home.

Born Oct. 7, 1929 in West Aliquippa, a son of the late Michael R. and Rose Dolnack, he was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell. Tom was a former employee of the LTV Steel Corp., where he worked in the Strip Mill Department. He is also a US Airforce Veteran who proudly served during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Aliquippa Elks while enjoying fishing, hunting and carving.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Laura ( Bobin) Dolnack, Hopewell Twp.; a brother, James A. Dolnack and wife Joann, Oviedo, FL; a sister, Frances Wells and husband Fred, Carol Stream, IL; brother-in-law, Charles Bobin and wife Blanche and three sisters-in-law, Mary, Kathy and Phyllis Bobin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the American Diabetes Association.

The Beaver County Special Unit will meet on Wednesday at 10:45am in the cemetery to perform military honors.
