Hattie E. Mann

Hattie E. Mann, of Centerville, PA, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004 in the Beverly Healthcare Center, Titusville, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Sept. 1 1918 in Charleston, WV, she was a daughter of the late George and Roxie Collins. Hattie was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by four sons, Everett Mann and wife Linda, Hookstown, Thomas Mann and wife Donna, Industry, PA, Charles Mann and wife Patricia, Tionesta, PA and Sam Mann and wife Joyce, S. Beaver Twp.; a daughter, Catherine Bromley and husband, Rick, Titusville; a sister, Iona McPherson, McKees Rocks; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John H. Mann; five brothers, John, George, Dave, Grovnor and Carmen Collins, as well as a sister, Mary Parsons.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Robert A. “Bob” Myers, Sr.

Robert A. “Bob” Myers, 70 of Hopewell Twp., passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2004 in the Aliquippa Community Hospital.

Born Dec. 25, 1933 in Rochester, PA, a son of the late William and Lola Myers, he was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Bob was retired employee of the LTV Steel Corp. and Aliquippa Works, where he worked in the Tin Mill Dept. He was also a US Army Veteran who proudly served his country. Bob enjoyed golfing with his friends, as well as hunting and fishing at Lake Erie. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marian (Zidarevich) Myers, Hopewell; three sons, Robert I. Myers and Fiance Gwen Morris, Colliers, WV, Gregory A. Myers, Hopewell and Mark A. Myers and wife Barbara, Verona; a daughter, Catherine Wright and Fiance, Roy Hunt, Hopewell; six beautiful grandchildren, Jeanelle, Courtney, Miranda, Abbey and Marella Myers and Jason Schall; a great granddaughter, Makenzie Myers; a brother, Glenn Myers and wife Betty, Revenna, OH; one sister, Evelyn Cheuvront, Indiana, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Harold, Daniel, James and Lynn Myers, as well as three sisters, Mary Myers, Faye Parrish and Eva Marburger.

Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Saturday at 11:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

William John Tate “Bill”

William John Tate, 74, of Center Twp., passed away peacefully Sunday, November 09, 2003, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Oct. 14, 1929, in Aliquippa, a son of Elton and Elsie Tate, he was a member of the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. Bill was a retired mobile home dealer and was also a former owner of the Center Manor Park Inc., while serving as the Director of the Pennsylvania Mobile Home Association. He was also an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, as well as being a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elinor Tate; a son, John Elton Tate and wife Jeri, Piqua, OH; one daughter, Jenette Fiejdasz and husband Edward, Clinton, PA; three grandchildren, Edward Fiejdasz and wife Linda, Greentree, PA, Tara Lawrence and husband Bill, Meadville, PA and Heidi Scholar and husband Mark, Robinson Twp.; one beautiful great grandson, William Tate Fiejdasz; a sister, Florence Robinson, OH; a sister-in-law, Marion Cook and husband Donald, Hopewell Twp.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, James Tate, Ralph Davis and Smith Davis.

William was a loving son, father and grandfather, while being the perfect husband.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am, with Rev Jack Patrick officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Bill’s name to the America Cancer Society, Southwest Region, 241 Forth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-1744.

Phyllis M. VanScoy

Phyllis M. VanScoy, 76, of Center Twp., passed away Saturday, October 16, 2004 in the ShadySide Hospital.

Born Feb. 18, 1928 in Lawford, WV, a daughter of the late Hobart and Nora Smith, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Aliquippa. She was a member of the Queen Esther Chapter #11 Order of the Eastern Star in Clarksburg, WV for over 50 years, Legion of Honor from the Order of Rainbow Girls, awarded the honor of Lady of the Golden Horseshoe by the Knights and Ladies of the Golden Horseshoe Society through the WV Dept. of Education, and Woodman of the World member. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Retired Lt. Col. Howard W. VanScoy, Jr., Center Twp.; two daughters, Cynthia Spearman and husband George, Covington, GA and Denice Mills and husband Ross, Houston, TX; a son Michael VanScoy, Aliquippa; a son-in-law, Randy Cooper, Uniontown, OH; seven granddaughters, Michelle Patterson and husband Don, Claremore, OK, Marie and Julie Cooper, Uniontown, OH, Mary Lynn and Ashley Mills, Houston, TX and Victoria and Rebecca VanScoy, Clinton, PA.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Cooper.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11am in the First United Methodist Church, Aliquippa. Everyone is to meet at the church at 10am.

Interment will follow in the Harrisville Odd Fellows Cemetery, Harrisville, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis’s name to the First United Methodist Church, 2816 Brodhead Rd., Aliquippa, PA 15001.

John Thomas Sopko

John Thomas Sopko, 90, of Aliquippa, passed away Nov. 17, 2003 in his home.

Born March 20, 1913 in Webster, PA, a son of the late Paul and Julia (Dolnack) Sopko, he was a member of the St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society. He was educated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic School and graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1931. He attended the National Radio Institute(ICS), Penn State University, where he took Professional Engineering courses, the University of Pittsburgh, and Geneva College in Beaver, PA, where he took Finance courses for four semesters. He began work at Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. on June 5, 1929, during his sophomore year of high school, as a Machinist Apprentice and then became a Machinist. He later became a Draftsman in the Design Engineering Dept. and then became an operating Engineer in South Mills. He was also a Plant Maintanence Engineer and General Foreman of the Mechanical Division and retired from that position in 1976 with 47 years of service at the plant in Aliquippa, PA. John was a former member of the Woodlawn Knights of Columbus, the Aliquippa Exchange Club, the Aliquippa Toastmasters, a member of the Beaver County Joint Hospital Planning Association and received a distinguished Service Award in 1986 for Civic Contributions to the community. In 1946 he began to gain community support for a local hospital, was the original Secretary and member of the Board of Directors from inception, serving as Vice President and President and was also the Chairman of the Board. He was a member of the American Hospital Association of Pennsylvania and Hospiat Trustees Association. He became “ “ Status of the Board in 1993 when he became 80 years old. He was the last surviving member of the original Board.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Anna D. Tkach; a son, David Charles Sopko and his wife, Cheryl, Stone Mountain, Ga; a grandson Jeffrey D. Sopko and wife Emma, San Diego; daughter-in-law, Betsy Gettys, Chareston, SC and grandsons Michael Charles Sopko, San Diego, CA and David Kenneth Sopko, Charleston, SC; Brother, Stephen R. Sopko, Philadelphia, PA and a sister, Eleanor McIntyre, Beaver Falls. He also survived by many neices and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Navy Commander, John Russell Sopko, a grandson, John Christopher Sopko, A brother, Paul Sopko and two sisters, Julia Suhayda and Margaret Hornyak.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the St. Titus Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Holy Name Society is to meet in the funeral home at 7:30pm on Wednesday to perform a Rosary service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the St. Titus Catholic Church, Franklin Ave, Aliquippa, PA 15001.

Ann “Frances” (Palko) Noggle

Ann “Frances” Noggle, 85 of Center Twp. Passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 in the Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls.

Born Oct. 26, 1918 in West Aliquippa, a daughter of the late John Palko and Mary Oros, she was a member of the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Center Twp. Frances was retired from the J&L; Steel Corp. where she worked in the Tin Mill Dept. She was also a member of the Steel Workers Local 1211.

She is survived by a brother, Steve Palko, Hopewell Twp.; two sisters, Margaret Bokor, Center Twp. and Dorothy Cindrich and husband George, Hopewell; three grandchildren, Edward J. Palko II, Virginia, Deena (Palko) Elmer, N.C. and Robin Palko, CA and six beautiful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel S. Noggle, Jr., a son, Edward J. Palko and a granddaughter, Candy Palko.

Frances will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Thursday at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Bernice H. Call
(Formerly of Aliquippa)

Bernice H. Call, 78, of Hookstown, PA, passed away Friday, October 29, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1925 in Carmichaels, PA, a daughter of the late Mathew and Elizabeth Ziomek, she was a member of the Beaver Assembly of God Church, Beaver. Bernice was a former employee of the Salvation Army and most recently a home health aid for the Beaver County Department of Assisted Living. Bernice was a loving mother and dear friend who will be missed by all.

She is survived by a son, Gene M. Welsh, Los Angeles, CA: two sisters, Alice Ziomek, Pittsburgh and Elizabeth Bialko, Nemacolin, PA and special friends, Betty McKee and Elvira Dinello as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Call.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 1pm.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Pierina “Ann” (Monaco) Branchetti
(Formerly of Midland)

Pierina “Ann” (Monaco) Branchetti, 87, of Aliquippa, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004 in the Friendship Ridge Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 29, 1917 in Midland, PA, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Marianne Monaco, she was a member of the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa, where she was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mother’s. Pierina was also a member of the Queens of Columbus. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She is survived by four sons, Louis C. Branchetti, Jr. and wife Barbara, Snellville, GA, Vincent A. Branchetti and wife Audrey, Cape Coral, FL, Anthony P. Branchetti and wife Annette, Center Twp. and Paul R. Branchetti and fiancé Deborah George and her son, Jason, Aliquippa; ten grandchildren, Mark Branchetti, Chic., IL, Michelle Gardner and husband Steve, Pittsburgh, PA, Melissa Atkin and husband Will, Savannah, GA, Anna Maria Branchetti, Cape Coral, FL, S.S. Vincent Branchetti and wife Mercedes, Ft. Bliss, TX, Philip Branchetti and wife Lana, Port St. Lucie, FL, Michael Branchetti, Hollywood, FL, Lauren Branchetti, Slippery Rock, Anthony Branchetti, Center Twp., Christopher P. Branchetti, Moon Twp.; three great-grandchildren, Jake Gardner, Pittsburgh, Philip Branchetti, Port St. Lucie, FL and Vittoria Branchetti, Ft. Bliss, TX; one sister, Marguerite Cronin, Midland; three sisters-in-law, Teresa Monaco, Midland, Mary Mowad, Aliquippa and Carmella Branchetti, Miami, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Louis C. Branchetti, Sr., a son, Domenic J. Branchetti and four brothers, Frank, Albert, Vito and Tony Monaco.

The Branchetti family would like to thank the staff of 3 Main at Friendship Ridge for their kindness, compassion and support which was shown through this difficult time.

Friends will be received on Monday from 5-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa.

Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Christian Mother’s will recite a rosary at 5pm on Monday in the funeral home.

Anna Mae Morris

Anna Mae Morris, 76, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 in the Masonic Village of Sewickley.

Born Nov. 8, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Roderick and Inez Kent she was a member of the Ohio United Presbyterian Church, Hopewell Twp. She was a registered nurse at the Sewickley Valley Hospital and was a member of the Woodlawn Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Hydzik and husband Edward, Sewickley; two sons, William E. Morris and wife Debra, Lexington, NC and Brad Lee Morris, Leonardtown, MD; a sister, Jennie Mraovich, Hopewell; five grandchildren, Brennen and Matthew Hydzik, Sewickley and Jason, Danielle and Tyler Morris, Maryland; two nephews, George (Randy) Mraovich, Hopewell and Michael Mraovich, Florida and a niece, Sandara MacDonald, Florida.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Morris.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 7-9pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am.

Interment will follow in the Coraopolis Cemetery.

John Ondilla

John Ondilla, 79, of Independence Twp., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 in the Aliquippa Community Hospital.

Born Jan. 7, 1925 in Independence Twp., a son of the late Andrew and Anna Ondilla, he was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Hopewell Twp. John was a life-long farmer in Independence and was also a self-employed construction worker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Florence (Kebart) Ondilla, Independence; a son, John A. Ondilla and wife Michele, Independence; two granddaughters, Jennifer Karwoski and husband Bill, Independence and Melissa Ondilla, Independence; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Lucas Taylor and Isabella Karwoski, all of Independence. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Andrew Ondilla and two sisters, Anna Liptak and Mary Zallon.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a blessing service will be held on Friday at 10:30am.

A private interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

LEO K. DARROCH

Leo K. Darroch, 78, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Monday December 13, 2004 in the Beaver Medical Center.

Born September 7, 1926, a son of the late James A. and Frances B. (Hallisey) Darroch, he was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Leo was member of the Darroch Funeral Home family since his early years, driving ambulance and assisting his father and mother with the many duties of the funeral home.

Later, he began working for Miller and Sons Chevrolet, and enjoyed a long career of over 56 years, where he will be remembered for his outstanding salesmanship. He was a member of the Aliquippa Bucktails, the first Parish Council of Our Lady of Fatima, Chevrolet - Legion of Leaders, Knights of Columbus, Millvale Sportsman’s Club, National Rifle Association, and the Amateur Trapshooting Association.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and David Fath, Raccoon Twp., and Dorothy and Greg Leger, Pittsburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Pam Darroch, Hopewell Twp.; four loving grandchildren, Megan and David Fath; Regis Leger, and Ian Darroch, a brother, Richard Darroch and his wife Beverly, Mars, PA., two sisters, Mary Frances Daniel and her husband Luke, Columbus, OH, and Jean Tovey and her husband Louis, Center Twp., a sister-in-law, Lena M. Darroch, Danville, CA., and a brother-in-law, Louis P. Salvati, Hopewell Twp., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Millicent (Rebich) Darroch; two brothers, Thomas A. Darroch and James J. Darroch; and two sisters, Mildred Cecconi and Kathleen Salvati.

Friends will be received Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Darroch Memorial Chapel, 2640 Mill Street, Aliquippa www.darrochfuneralhome.com where a service will be conducted on Friday at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima School, 2270 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
