ELIZABETH SABO

Elizabeth Mathilda Sullivan Sabo, 67, of McKeesport died yesterday in UPMC McKeesport. A former real estate agent in McKeesport and surrounding areas, she was a member of St. Angela Merici Church in White Oak.

Born in McKeesport, Jan. 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Margaret L. Ross Sullivan. She is survived by her husband, William L. Sabo; sons, Dr. John W. Sullivan of Naples, Fla., and James J. Sabo of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; and brother, William F. Sullivan of Miami, Fla.

Friends will be received tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Strifflers? White Oak. Service will be conducted there Friday. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Center for Victims of Violent Crimes, 900 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA, 15219.

RUTH KOLIN

Ruth E. Wilt Kolin, 77, of North Versailles Twp. died yesterday in UPMC Braddock. Born Oct. 10, 1922, in North Braddock, she was a daughter of the late LeRoy and Margaret Clugston Wilt.

Wife of the late Frank M. Kolin, she is survived by a son, Dennis Kolin of White Oak; two grandchildren; sisters, Edith Henline of North Versailles Twp. and Patsy Irvin in Florida; brother, Ron Wilt of North Versailles Twp.; nieces and nephews.

Friends are being received today from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, East Pittsburgh. Service will be offered there tomorrow at 11 a.m. by the Rev. David Jones. Interment will be in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon Twp.

MYRTLE LAWNIZAK

Myrtle Elizabeth Smith Little Lawnizak, 81, formerly of McKeesport and Somerset, died Saturday in Lutheran Nursing Home in Smith, N.Y. Born in McKeesport, Oct. 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie Dingledein Smith.

Wife of the late Ralph Little Sr. and William Lawnizak, she is survived by a daughter, Jean Wedley of Selden, N.Y.; son, Ralph Little Jr. of Somerset; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp., with the Rev. William Heaton officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are in charge of the William H. Craig Funeral Home, Inc.

LARS OLSON

Lars H. Olson, 23, of White Oak died Monday. A receiving manager for Homelife Furniture Store By Sears, he was graduated from Steel Valley High School in 1995 and Community College of Allegheny County and was a member of the 1994 championship Steel Valley High School Soccer Team.

Born in Pittsburgh, Sept. 5, 1976, he was the son Harold Olson of Munhall and Danae Parsons Lis of Dravosburg. He is survived by his parents; wife, Theresa Zoscak Olson; daughter, Nicole Olson; stepfather, Edward Lis; brother and sisters, Daniel, Goldie, Susan and Jennifer; a niece and nephews.

Friends will be received today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., Munhall. Service will be conducted there Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Erwin Kerr. Interment will be in Homestead Cemetery, Munhall.

ANN MANGES

Ann Drobne Manges of McKeesport, formerly of Bridge-ville, died Monday. A former staff member at a Navy state hospital, she was employed at the former John J. Kane County Hospital.

Daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Tomasin Drobne and wife of the late Harry (Scarp) Manges, she is survived by children, Priscilla Lopez of McKeesport and Harry (Bud) Manges of Cranberry Twp.; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

Friends are being received in the Fryer Funeral Home, Bridgeville, today from noon until the hour of service there at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Rach officiating. Interment will be in Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville.

EDWARD BASCH

Edward Paul Basch, 73, of Jefferson Hills died Sunday. Retired as a guidance counselor from Mount Lebanon High School with 30 years of service, he was a former science teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School and member of the Pennsylvania State Counselor Association where he served as president from 1972 to 1973 and received its Counselor of the Year Award in 1979.

A former co-owner and director of Camp Falcon Summer Camp for Boys in Carrollton, Ohio, he was a member of Pine Run United Methodist Church in Clairton and served as a lay leader, lay assistant, teacher and steward and on its pastor-parish relations committee and finance committee.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he received a bachelor of science degree in education in 1953 from the University of Pittsburgh and was affiliated with the Sigma Chi Fraternity and received a master?s degree in administration from Duquesne University.

A member of Clairton Area Chapter 1612, American Association of Retired Persons, he was a former legislative affairs officer and president and served as the legislative director of the AARP 30th Congressional District.

Born in Glassport, March 28, 1927, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna Gasser Basch. He is survived by his wife, Lois Irene Kuskie Basch; daughters, Patricia L. Balzer and Chris Ann Hummel of Eightyfour and Cynthia I. Jones of South Park Twp.; and five grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the S.M. Finney Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton, tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. in Pine Run United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Wanless. Interment will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery, West Mifflin. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Pine Run United Methodist Church, 901 N. Sixth St., Clairton, PA, 15025.

MILDRED DANCU

Mildred (Mim) Carter Dancu, 78, died Sunday in Sheboygan, Wis. She attended schools in Duquesne and was a graduate of Robert Morris College.

Born July 15, 1921, in Duquesne, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mildred Obradovich and the wife of the late Herbert Carter and Earl Dancu. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Carter; sisters, Bertha Perkins and Mary Obradovich of Pittsburgh; nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday in St. Luke United Methodist Church, Sheboygan, by the Rev. Larry Moody and the Rev. Les Munnik. Arrangements are in charge of the Habermann Zimmer Funeral Home, Sheboygan.

VIRGINIA GIBSON

Virginia M. Gibson, 75, of Port Vue died yesterday at home. Retired as a registered nurse from McKeesport Hospital, she was a 1945 graduate of Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing and a member of Liberty Senior Citizens.

Born Aug. 29, 1924, in Port Vue, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ann Yesh Potersnak and the wife of the late Frederick Gibson Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Gibson-Rand of Chevy Chase, Md.; a granddaughter; sister, Bernice Scorsone of Port Vue; nieces and nephews.

Friends are being received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home, Versailles. Service will be conducted there tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. by the Rev. James Bray. Interment will be in Lebanon Church Cemetery, West Mifflin. The family has suggested memorial contributions to Three Rivers Family Hospice, 3029 Jacks Run Road, McKeesport, PA, 15131.

GEORGE SEIFERT

George E. Seifert, 59, of East McKeesport died today in St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh. A cook at Rudy?s Subs in Monroeville, he was also a professional gardener and landscaper.

Born Feb. 17, 1941, in Homestead, he was a son of the late George E. and Catherine Goulding Seifert. He is survived by his wife, Amy Bobbin Seifert; daughters, Lynette Hornyak of Wilmerding and Amber Havranek of Verona; four grandchildren; and brother, Edward G. Seifert.

Friends will be received in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmerding, today from 7 p.m. until the hour of service there at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Gurley officiating. Private interment will be in Irwin Union Cemetery.

MARGARET ADAMS

Margaret Olejar Adams, 87, of Wall died yesterday in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Wilmerding.

Born April 21, 1912, in Yukon, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Caroline Tomajko Olejar and the wife of the late Michael Adams. She is survived by children, Judith M. Smith of Springfield, Va., and Richard Adams of Elizabeth Twp.; four grandsons and four great grandchildren; sister, Frances Romek of Lorain, Ohio; nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmerding. A blessing will be offered there Saturday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Patrick Jones. Interment will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.

MARY BENEDICT

Mary Benedict, 93, formerly of Duquesne, died yesterday in Green Meadows Nursing Home in Latrobe. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Duquesne and its Ladies Guild.

Born in McKeesport, Aug. 16, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Mima Lukac and the wife of the late Andrew Benedict. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Genes of Greensburg; son, Robert A. Benedict of Latrobe; and five grandchildren.

Friends will be received tomorrow from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Inc., Duquesne. A blessing will be offered there Friday at 10 a.m. followed by prayer service at 10:30 in SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church with Msgr. William Levkulic officiating. Interment will be in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.

JOHN BUMBAS

A former Duquesne resident, John A. Bumbas, 69, of Baldwin died Monday. Retired from Jones and Laughlin Steel Co., Hazelwood section of Pittsburgh, he volunteered with the Pittsburgh Catholic Charities for five years as a translator and mail deliverer.

Born in Duquesne, Oct. 13, 1930, he was a son of the late Anton and Magdaline Benkovic Bumbas. He is survived by a daughter, Gina Fulton of New Orleans, La.; son, John Bumbas Jr. of Baldwin; two grandchildren; brother, Joseph Bumbas of Duquesne; a nephew and nieces.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., Brentwood. A blessing will be offered there Friday at noon by the Rev. Robert G. Turner. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin.

R.J. Helmstadter

Local Business Owner R.J. Helmstadter Dies

Owner and senior partner of the former Helmstadter Department Store, Richard J. Helmstadter, 94, of McKeesport died Tuesday in UPMC McKeesport. A member of First United Methodist Church and past chairman of its administrative board, he was selected as the Small Businessman of the Year in 1985 by the Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce and was inducted into the McKeesport High School Hall of Fame in 1988.

He received a bachelor of arts degree from Allegheny College, master of business administration degree from Harvard University?s Graduate School of Business Administration and was a former class agent for fund-raising at Harvard Business School.

A past president of Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants Association, he was affiliated with the East Valley Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; McKeesport Heritage Center; and McKeesport YMCA. He was president emeritus of the board at the Methodist Home in Mount Lebanon.

Helmstadter was also a past president of the Rotary Club of McKeesport and McKeesport Community Chest and a board member of the McKeesport Boys and Girls Club. His past board memberships included Allegheny County Community Chest; Allegheny County United Way; Allegheny County Health and Welfare Federation; and Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aged.

A former treasurer of the National Health and Welfare Association of the United Methodist Church, he was the recipient of the Altrusa Volunteer of the Year; Silver Beaver Award, Boy Scouts of America; Edgar Mack Memorial Award; and Outstanding Trustee ? Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Church. He also served as a representative of the McKeesport Boy Scouts of America to the first International Jamboree in London.

Born May 22, 1905, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John Michael and Megan Richards Helmstadter. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hicks Helmstadter; sons, Richard John Helmstadter of Toronto, Canada, David Richards Helmstadter of Boston, Mass., Daniel Crist Helmstadter of Norwalk, Del., and John Michael Helmstadter of Edgecomb, Maine; 10 grandchildren and three great grandsons; and brother, John M. Helmstadter of McKeesport.

Friends will be received tomorrow from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc. Service will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Snodgrass and Rev. Howard Peters. Interment will be in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.

JAMES ROBERTSON

James W. (Jimmy) Robertson, 91, of McKeesport, formerly of New York, N.Y., died yesterday in Kane Regional Center. A retired messenger for New York X-Ray Laboratories with 33 years of service, he was a former companion for 10 years with the Senior Companion Program of Allegheny County in McKeesport and Duquesne.

Born in McKeesport, June 24, 1908, he was the son of the late Daniel F. and Mary (Polly) Eaglesham Robertson. He is survived by a brother, Russell E. Robertson of McKeesport; and caregiver and sister-in-law, Gertrude B. (Trudy) Robertson of McKeesport.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church of St. Martin de Porres Parish. No visitation is scheduled. Inurnment will be in the mausoleum of McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Willig Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorial contributions to McKeesport Library or a favorite charity.

WILLIAM ROBINSON SR.

Private services were held Tuesday for William Robinson Sr., 77, of Charleroi who died Sunday at home. Arrangements were in charge of the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Clairton.

A retired master sergeant from the U.S. Army, he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Born in Sanford, Ala., May 20, 1922, he was the husband of the late Dorothy Shaw Robinson. He is survived by sons, Irvin Robinson of Tanzania, Africa, William Robinson Jr. of Monroeville and Timothy Robinson of Detroit, Mich.; daughters, Dorothy Tucker of Pittsburgh, Alise Hayes of Penn Hills and Wonda McDavis of Clairton; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

KEVIN BARR

Kevin M. Barr, 43, of Jefferson Hills died yesterday in Jefferson Hospital. An automobile mechanic at the former John Mitruski Service Station in Pleasant Hills, he was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Clairton.

Born in McKeesport, Jan. 24, 1957, he was the son of Joan A. Harvey Barr with whom he resided and the late Kenneth E. Barr. He is survived by his mother; brother, James L. Barr of La Porte, Ind.; sisters, Jean Chimenti of Erie and Susan M. Rowe of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Paulinus Church. Private interment will be held in St. Clare Cemetery, Clairton. The family has suggested memorial contributions to St. Clare of Assisi Parish; or South Hills Health System, ICU Jefferson Hospital, Coal Valley Road, Jefferson Hills, PA, 15236.

KATHRYN GRESO

Kathryn G. (Kay) Greso, 76, of Duquesne died yesterday in UPMC Braddock. She was a member of St. John Mark Lutheran Church in Homestead and its Faith Circle and Lydia Circle.

Born in Duquesne, Aug. 16, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William B. Sr. and Esther Captain Lewis. She is survived by her husband, Julius J. (Jay) Greso; daughter, Barbara Johnston of Santa Cruz, Calif.; son, David Greso of Newark, Del.; two grandchildren; and brother, Albert Lewis in South Carolina.

Memorial Service will be held at later date in St. John Mark Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Gago officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are in charge of the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home, Inc., Duquesne.

JOHN KELLY

John Paul (Kelly) Kelly, 92, formerly of Duquesne, died yesterday in UPMC McKeesport. Retired from the plant protection department of the Irvin plant, U.S. Steel Corp., he was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish and Teutonia Mannerchor and Social Club, both in Duquesne.

Born June 4, 1907, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Alexander and Stephenia Kalinowski. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Fidel Kelly; sister, Helen Johnson of North Huntingdon Twp.; brother, Edward Skabinski in France; nieces and nephews.

Friends are being received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home, Inc., Duquesne. A blessing will be offered there tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Hedwig Church with the Rev. Dennis Colamarino as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, West Mifflin. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

WILLIAM HANNA II

William C. Hanna II, 57, of McKeesport died yesterday in UPMC McKeesport. He was a technician with the McKeesport Sewage Authority and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Born in McKeesport, May 21, 1942, he was the son of Patience Emery Hanna of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the late William C. Hanna. He is survived by his mother; wife, Suzanne Hrozencik Hanna; daughters, Kathleen Hanna Rock of Fairfax, Va., and Bethany Hanna of McKeesport; a granddaughter; and sister, Patricia C. Hanna of St. Petersburg.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the D. James Heatherington Funeral Home. Service will be conducted there Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Richard Bonds-Krug. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the McKeesport Hospital Foundation.
