Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Breanna Peterson

Breanna Peterson, 8, of Lake Harmony, died Wednesday in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Paterson, N.J., she was a daughter of Melvin and Michele (Morgan) Peterson.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother Brandon, at home; and maternal grandparents, Orfried and Mildred Perrier of Albrightsville.

The Kresge Funeral Home, Rt. 209, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mona E. Drust

Mrs. Mona E. Drust, 71, of Lehighton, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Stanley Drust.

Born in New York State, she was a licensed pilot and an avid flyer.

There are no immediate survivors.

Kemery services

Funeral services for Mae E. Kemery, 73, of 1241 Broad St., Whitehall Township, formerly of Tamaqua, who died Wednesday in her home, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Jon M. Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, followed by interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. A calling hour will precede the services.

Mrs. Anne Marlow

Mrs. Anne Marlow, 84, of 9145 Sligocreek Parkway, Silver Spring, Md., formerly of Mahanoy City, died Wednesday in the Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring. She was the widow of Frank Marlow, who died in 1983.

Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph an Josephine (Sakalosky) Louches, and had also resided at one time in Shenandoah and Locust Valley.

She was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and was a member of St. Joseph Church, Mahanoy City.

Surviving are a son Frank of Friendswood, Tex.; two daughters, Marica Starbecker of Silver Spring, Md., and Delia Dougherty of Tamaqua; six grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Edward J. Kielbasa

Edward J. Kielbasa, 73, formerly of 229 E. Fell St., Summit Hill, died Tuesday in Collegeville.

He formerly worked as a machinist at Blue Ridge Pressure Casting, Lehighton, until retiring in 1986.

He was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Druss) Kielbasa.

The deceased was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Summit Hill, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are two brothers, Leonard of Lansford and Joseph of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Private funeral services are planned in Collegeville.

Kielbasa additions: Among the survivors of Edward J. Kielbasa, 73, of Collegeville, formerly of 229 E. Fell St., Summit Hill, who died Oct. 7, is a niece, Kathleen Julian of Collegeville, with whom he resided.
A native of Summit Hill, the deceased was a 1942 graduate of the former Summit Hill High School and served in the Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of carpenter's mate, third class. He was stationed in New York, California and on the USS Arctic and was honorably discharged and awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory medal.
Prior to a 32-year career at Blue Ridge Pressure Castings, Lehighton, he was a machinist at the former Lansford Shops.
He was a member of St. Eleanor Catholic Church, Collegeville.
The deceased was a 48-year member of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Laskos.

Catherine M. Williams

Catherine M. Williams, 81, of 201 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, died Thursday at the home of her sisters, Patricia, of 711 Arlington St., Tamaqua. She was the widow of Harold R. Williams, who died in 1979.

She was a retired aide in the Tamaqua Area School District. Prior to that she had been the receptionist for Dr. Gordon Weaver, Tamaqua.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Charles P. and Anne (Barry) Menconi.

She was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Tamaqua.

She belonged to the Tamaqua Senior Citizens and the Panther Valley Golden Agers.

She was a 1932 graduate of the former St. Jerome's High School, Tamaqua.

Surviving is a son, Barry Williams of Harleysville; a daughter, Kathy, wife of William Heiter of Ogden, Utah; a brother, Robert Menconi of Bremerton, Wash.; four sisters, Patricia Menconi, Eleanor Moneta, Ethel McLaughlin, all of Tamaqua, and Annette Shamus of Falls Church, Va.; also three grandsons.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Menconi and by three sisters, Phyllis Dunsavage, Virginia Coll, and Betty Menconi.

The Zizelmann Funeral Home, Tamaqua, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rita A. Navitsky

Mrs. Rita A. Navitsky, 79, of 251 Clay St., Tamaqua, died Wednesday in her home. She was the widow of Alex N. Navitsky, who died in August.

Born in St. Clair, she was a duaghter of the late Jacob and Mary (Urban) Baddick.

She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua, where she was a past president of the Catholic Women's Education Association.

Surviving are three sons, Philip J. of Tamaqua, Theodore J. of Pottsville and Daniel J. of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Tepo and Mrs. Nora Woznisky, both of Tamaqua; five brothers, Paul of Palo Alto, Jacob of Mary D and Theodore, Victor and Daniel, all of Tamaqua; and nine grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Louis.

The Jon M. Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Solak

Mary Solak, 70, of 90 Bank St., New York City, N.Y., died Sept. 24 in the New York-Cornell Hospital, New York City.

She was a self-employed free-lance copy editor for more than 40 years.

Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Ringer) Solak.

She was a graduate of the former Lansford High School, where she was valedictorian of her class.

Surviving are a brother Frank of Williamston, Mich.; and an aunt.

Joel T. Shook

Joel T. Shook, 28, of Sullivan Trail, Plainfield Township, died Tuesday in the Easton Hospital after being stricken.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of Paul E. Shook Jr. of Whitehall Township and the late Virginia (Marsh) Shook.

The deceased was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving in addition to his father are his stepmother, Patricia A. Shook of Whitehall; a brother Noel of Pen Argyl; three sisters, Penny, wife of Joseph Calandra of Albrightsville, Robin, wife of Carl Biechy of Saylorsburg, and Susan Johnson of Westport, Wash.; paternal grandmother, Ann Shook of Easton; maternal grandmother, Almeda Marsh of Wind Gap; and nieces and nephews.

John V. McDermott

John V. "Bucky" McDermott, 82, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Virginia A. (Beltz) Jones McDermott. They were married for 41 years.

He worked for the U.S. Steel Corporation, Fairless Hills, Bucks County, for many years before retiring.

Born in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late Patrick and Eliza (McHugh) McDermott.

He was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church.

McDermott was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Nancy J. McClarin of Bethlehem; a brother James of Stroudsburg; a sister, Margaret Kozuch of Summit Hill; and two grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sgt. Bernard and Thomas.

Emma M. Rabel

Emma M. Rabel, 80, of 606 Sioux St., Bethlehem, died Wednesday in her home.

She was a sewing machine operator at the former Forte Neckwear Factory, Bethlehem.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Frantz) Rabel.

She was a member of Holy Gjost Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Surviving are a son, Francis J. of Effort; four sisters, Margaret Grund and Frances, both of Bethlehem, Anna Stroble of Fountain Hill and Elizabeth Swartley of Quakertown; and two grandchildren.

Thomas Pitt

Thomas "Tub" Pitt, 90, of 105 N. Railroad St., Walnutport, died Wednesday in his home.

He was a crane operator in the Saucon open hearth of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 36 years before retiring in 1975.

Born in Wind Gap, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Cortezo) Pitt.

He was a member of the Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport.

He was preceded in death by a son Joseph.

Kripp infant

The infant daughter of Gary J. Kripp and Linda F. (Card) Kuzo of 119 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Surviving in addition to her parents are paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lois Kaschak of Hazleton; and maternal granfather, Richard Card of Lansford.

George J. Yemm Sr.

George J. Yemm Sr., 79, of the Geriatric Center of Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, formerly of Tamaqua, died Wednesday evening in the center. He was the husband of the late Bertha (Edmonds) Yemm, who died in 1952.

Prior to retiring, he was a miner for the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Weaver and Mrs. Charlotte Breiner, both of Tamaqua; four sons, Edmond of Coaldale, John of Tamaqua, George Jr. of Still Creek, Tamaqua R.D., and David of Bethlehem; a brother John of Tamaqua; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Marie; a son William; and two sisters, Mildred Wagner and Catherine Tartar.

The Roche Funeral Home, 237 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary A. Richie

Mrs. Mary A. Richie, 80, of North Lehigh Gorge Drive, Weatherly R.2, died Wednesday morning at her home. She was the widow of Ivan H. Richie, who died in 1988.

She was a nurse's aide at Weatherwood, Weatherly, before retiring after 18 years of service.

Born in Freeland, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Pasternak) Heralko.

Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Ann and Judy Ann Richie, both at home, and Mary Lee, wife of Howard Meiser of Hazleton; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Fuller; and two brothers, Andrew and Michael.

Kresge family

Among the survivors of Thaddeus E. Kresge, 74, of 86 Sam Brooke Circle, Lehighton, who died Tuesday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, is a sister, Charlotte Olawski of New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wagner.
