Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Mae E. Kemery

Mae E. Kemery, 73, of 1241 Broad St., Whitehall, and formerly of Tamaqua, died Wednesday evening in her residence.

Prior to retiring, she had been employed in the garment industry, working for several firms in the Tamaqua area.

Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (Follweiler) Kemery.

Miss Kemery was a member of Cornerstone Pentacostal Fellowship Church, Orefield.

She is survived by a brother, Earl T. Kemery, with whom she resided.

The Jon M. Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Mikovich

Anna Mikovich, 87, of 121 E. High St., Nesquehoning, died this morning in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of John Mikovich, who died in 1963.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Goida.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist American-Russian Orthodox Church of Nesquehoning where she was active with many church functions.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Berezniak of Coaldale and Mrs. Dorothy Macenka of Nesquehoning; one son, The Rev. Deacon Theodore J. Mikovich of Emmaus; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Yaroma of Coaldale, Mrs. Eva Vanno of Lansford, Mrs. Julia Trabaticky and Mrs. Olga Kash, both of Easton, and Mrs. Katherine Beizer of New York State; two brothers, John and Theodore Goida, both of Coaldale; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The John Puschak Funeral Home, 208 First St., Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements.

Thaddeus E. Kresge

Thaddeus E. Kresge, 74, of 86 Sam Brooke Circle, Lehighton, died Tuesday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Mary (Beblavy) Kresge. They observed their 51st wedding anniversary in June.

He was a conductor for the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for many years before retiring in 1975.

Born in Weissport, he was a son of the late Thaddeus D. and Mary (VanBlargen) Kresge.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

Surviving in addition to his widow are five sons, Anthony of Lehighton, Thaddeus Jr. of Penn Forest Township, Michael of Philadelphia, David, at home, and Dennis of Greentown, Pike County; a daughter Marie, wife of Charles Zimmerman of Weissport; a brother Rodney of Triangle, Va.; two sisters, Charlotte Olanski in New Jersey and Betty, wife of Mark Gale of Oswego, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Allen.

The Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Stanley K. Landis

Mrs. Eleanor Landis, 80, of Downingtown, Chester County, died Monday in her home. She was the wife of Stanley K. Landis.

She was a teacher's aide for the Child Development Center, Coatesville, Chester County, and previously was a secretary for the East Ward Elementary School and Dr. Thomas Parke, both of Downingtown, and for the Chalfont Hosiery Company.

Born in Slatington, she was a daughter of the late Robert T. and Anne (Williams) Williams.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Downingtown.

Mrs. Landis was a former board member of St. James Place, Inc., Downingtown, and a member of the National Welsh American Foundation, the Downingtown and Chester historical societies, and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Valley Garden Club, both in Chester County.

She was a volunteer for the Chester County Hospital and Meals on Wheels.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Stanley K. Jr. of Macungie, David R. of Shippensburg, Cumberland County, and John W. of Downingtown; a daughter, Gwendolyn L. Settle of Downingtown; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Andrew C. Durback

Andrew C. Durback, 89, of Allentown, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Anna C. (Mittura) Durback, who died in 1991.

He was a shear operator for the former Holan Manufacturing Company, Allentown, for 10 years before retiring in 1976.

Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Harvila) Durback.

He was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

Durback was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are a son, Charles A. of Allentown; a sister, Anna Gresh of Lehighton; and a granddaughter.

Clarence A. Lynn Sr.

Clarence A. Lynn Sr., 90, of the Masonic Home of Pennsylvania, 801 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, Bucks County, died Monday. He was the husband of Beatrice I. (Arner) Lynn.

Born and raised in Franklin Township, he was a son of the late Maurice L. and Mame (Whitiker) Lynn.

He was a member of the Lansdale United Church of Christ and the Eureka F. & A.M. Lodge 302, Mechanicsburg.

Surviving in addition to his widow are six sons, Clarence A. Jr., Wilbur E., Kenwood L., Richard M., Donald B. and Stewart E.; two daughters, Barbara A. and Joan M., 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

The R.R. Bringhurst Funeral Home, 66 S. State Rd., Upper Darby, is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Buliano

Thomas Buliano of 70 S. Pine St., Hazleton, died Tuesday in the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was a crane operator for the Dorr-Oliver Corporation for 37-1/2 years before retiring.

Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (McGee) Buliano, and had lived in the Hazleton area all of his life.

He was a member of Local 1648 of the United Aerospace Machinists and St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Hazleton.

Buliano was an Army veteran.

Surviving are a son Thomas of Hazleton; a daughter Christine of Tamaqua; three sisters, Rose of Lansdale, Katherine Stapes of Kingston and Mrs. Rosco (Alice) Cusatis of Hazleton; two grandsons and nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother John; and three sisters, Mary Tamecki, Margaret Kuschock and Renee DeMelfi.

Rev. Robert J. Mace

The Rev. Robert J. Mace, 57, of 2 Eastview Circle, Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, died Monday evening in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, following a short illness. He was the husband of Beverly (Pohida) Mace. They were married for 16 years.

A United Methodist minister, he was pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Nuremberg, Schuylkill County. He was also a school bus driver for Zanolini's Busing and was a self-employed handyman.

Born in Buchanan, Mich., he was a son of Irene (Van Wanzele) Bradley of Crawsfordville, Ind.

He attended Indiana State University at Indianapolis and was a member of the Kinetic Energy Running Club.

A resident of Surgarloaf the past 16 years, he was a former lay leader of the Conyngham United Methodist Church, and was a certified lay speaker in the Francis Asbury District of the United Methodist Church. He also attended the local pastor school of the Eastern Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are a son Mitchell of South Bend, Ind.; two daughters, Julie M. Wick of Weatherly and Kelly Mace, at home; a brother Alfred in Florida; two sisters, Peg Wall of Stevensville, Mich., and Pat Million of Indianapolis; a granddaughter and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thomas W. Young

Mrs. Patricia A. "Yellow Rose" Young, 40, of 329 Indian Mountain Lakes, Albrightsville, died Tuesday in the Hazleton General Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas W. "Farm Boy" Young. They were married for five years.

She was night shift housekeeping supervisor at Big Boulder and Jack Frost Ski Resorts, Albrightsville.

Born in Long Branch, N.J., she was a daughter of Lillian (Hughes) Baker of Highlands, N.J., and the late Harold Baker.

The deceased resided in Hazleton for the past 17 years and was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, St. Johns.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters, Cathy Walck of Hazleton and Eva DeJesus, at home; a son, Robert Gambardella of Jeddo, Luzerne County; two sisters, Lillian Chiger of Highlands and Joy Baker of Hazleton; a half-brother, Harold Baker IV of Atlantic Highlands, N.J.; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Howard L. Frey Jr.

Mrs. Lorraine M. Frey, 64, of 616 Hamilton St., Bowmanstown, died Wednesday in her home. She was the wife of Howard L. Frey Jr. They observed their 27th wedding anniversary in June.

She was employed by the former Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, working on the capline from 1952 until retiring due to disability in 1980.

Born in Kreidersville, she was a daughter of the late Nestor and Jessie (Reynolds) Miller.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bowmanstown, and the Andreas Sporting Club.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three brothers, Harold of Northampton and Mervin and Marshall, both of Lehighton; a half-brother, Robert Thompson of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest and Rolland Miller and George Thompson.

The Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Rt. 309, Snyders, is in charge of the arrangements.

Dallas M. Bilheimer

Dallas M. Bilheimer, 77, of Slatedale, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of LaMae (Krause) Bilheimer.

He worked in the woodworking department of the U.S. Coast Guard, Baltimore, Md., for 35 years before retiring in 1980.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Howard and Minnie (Smith) Bilheimer.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations.

Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Howard and John, both of Baltimore, and David of Allentown; two daughters, LaJean Verma of Baltimore and Karry of Slatedale; a brother Kenneth of Slatington; two sisters, Hilda Phillips of Berwick and Elizabeth Leabold of Catasauqua; five stepsisters, Anna Walck, Mary Miller, Quilla Frankenfield, Esther Ioavna and Edith Krammer; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bilheimer survivors: Dallas M. Bilheimer, 77, of Slatedale, who died Monday in his home, is survived by his widow, LaMae (Krause) Bilheimer; three sons, Howard and John, both of Baltimore, Md., and David of Allentown; two daughters, LaJean Verna of Baltimore and Karry of Slatedale; four brothers, Robert Grammes of Bethlehem, William Grammes of Phillipsburg, N.J., Harry Grammes Jr. of Hellertown and Kenneth of Walnutport; seven sisters, Hilda Phillips of Berwick, Elizabeth Leabold of Catasauqua, Anna Walck of Palmerton, Mary Miller of Rextown, Quilla Frankenfield of Allentown, Esther Iovanna of Slatington and Edith Krammer of Walnutport; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Alan B. Esterly

Mrs. Deborah A. Esterly, 30, of 744 Topton Road, Kutztown, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Alan B. Esterly. They observed their fourth wedding anniversary in April.

She was a teller for the Patriot Savings Bank, Topton, until 1994.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Carl F. Miller of Emlenton, Venango County, and Monica M. (Kuhns), wife of Gerald Otter of Germansville.

The deceased was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Whitehall Township.

Surviving in addition to her husband, parents and stepfather are a son, Alexander A., and a daughter, Catherine Joan, both at home; and a sister Lori, wife of Jeffrey L. Hovan of Germansville.

Mrs. Nicholas Cilicigno

Mrs. Marie Colicigno of 596 Seybert St., Hazleton, died Wednesday morning in her home. She was the husband of Nicholas Colicigno, who resides at the V.A. Medical Center Nursing Facility.

Prior to retiring, she was employed by Miss Toni Dress.

Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late John and Theresa (Terracciano) LaMonica, and lived the Hazleton area all of her life.

She was a member of the Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton, the Altar and Rosary Society of the parish, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Nicholas of New Ringgold and Greg, with whom she resided; a daughter Donna, wife of Richard Surmick of Hazleton; two sisters, Rose Cross of Shenandoah and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Powell of Holiday Lake, Fla.; a brother James of Levittown; seven grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Karpa infant

Jennifer Karpa, one-day-old daughter of Stephen and Ruth (Sterling) Karpa of 617 E. Patterson St., Lansford, died Monday in the Palmerton Hospital, where she was born.

Surviving in addition to her parents is a brother, Stephen Jr., at home, and maternal grandparents Mary Jane and Arthur Sterling.

The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of the arrangements.
