Lawrence K. Fluck

Lawrence K. Fluck, 82, of Palmer Township, died Monday in the Easton Hospital. He was the husband of Catherine A. (Brower) Fluck, who died in 1993.

He was a member and employee of Steamfitters Union Local 450, Philadelphia, for more than 25 years before retiring.

Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Eugene and Eleanor (Koffel) Fluck.

He was a former member of the Order of Fleas, Easton.

Surviving is a son, Larry R. of Palmer Township; three brothers, Elbert and Harold, both of Kunkletown, and Bruce of Columbus, Ohio; and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Warren C. Blose

Mrs. Pauline A. Blose, 77, of Mountain View Mobile Park, Walnutport, formerly o 362 W. Church St., Slatington, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Warren C. Blose. They were married 58 years last October.

She was a screen printer at the former Fashion Prints, Catasauqua, for 18 years before retiring in 1974.

Born in Parryville, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Stella (Smith) Youse.

She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Patricia A., wife of Richard W. Serfass of Walnutport, Barbara J., wife of David A. Rauch of New Tripoli, and Donna M., wife of Donald C. Bowers of Kunkletown; a brother, Curtis of Parryville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Burger

Robert L. Burger, 53, of Kunkletown R.5, died Monday in Effort. He was the husband of Anna (Fehr) Burger. They had been married 32 years. He was pronounced dead at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, after being involved in an accident at the intersection of SR3007 and SR3016 in Chestnuthill Township.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542, Norristown, since 1985. He was also a certified welder.

Born in Kresgeville, he was the son of the late William E. and Julie (Serfass) Burger.

A decorated chief warrant officer in the U.S. Army, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam, he retired from the service in 1983.

He was a graduate of U.C.L.A. with a degree in criminal justice.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Gilbert; the V.F.W. Memorial Post 5588 of Kunkletown; a lifetime member of the NRA; and a member of the Palmerton Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Kimberly, wife of Jeffrey Borger of Kunkletown, and Cindy Kidd of Tacoma, Wash.; a son, Mark of Marshall Creek; five brothers, William, Harry, Stanley and Roger, all of Kunkletown, and Henry of Palmerton; seven sisters, Elmira Miller, Lillian Dorshimer, Sue Beers, Rose Smith, all of Kunkletown, Ida Kresge of Gilbert, Sadie Smith of Effort and Mabel Bonser of Stroudsburg R.6; and two grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Colin R. in 1987.

The Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Rte. 209, Gilbert, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anna Forte

Mrs. Anna Forte, 84, of Buck Mountain, Barnesville, died Tuesday at home. She was the widow of Nicholas Forte, who died in 1995.

She worked for the former City Shirt Factory, Mahanoy City, and prior to that worked several years as a domestic care giver in White Plains, N.Y.

Born in Buck Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Pauline (Lenowitz) Muscavage.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.

Surviving are two sons, Robert, at home, and Nicholas of Northampton; a daughter, Carol Forte Rufus of Media; a brother, Edward of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; three sisters, Constance Pappalardo of White Plains, Helen Andrusichen of Coaldale, and Grace Kelly of Glendora, Calif.; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Peter; and two sisters, Mary Faust and Justine Maher.

The Louis Truskowsky Funeral Home, 300 W. Center St., Mahanoy City, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leroy Kaiser

Mrs. Joan L. Kaiser, 66, of Delaware Water Gap, died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of Leroy Kaiser. They were married for 48 years.

She was postmaster for Delaware Water Gap until retiring in 1994. Prior to that she worked at the main and philatelic windows of the Stroudsburg Post Office from 1980-87.

Born in Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas an Iona (Sebring) Hauser.

She was a member and deacon of the Presbyterian Church of Mountain, Delaware Water Gap, and participated in the ladies group.

She was active in the Girl Scouts and a member of the Delaware Water Gap Fire Company 28th Division Auxiliary and Stroudsburg Parent-Teacher Association.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Roxanne Kaiser-Antonowich of Delaware Water Gap, and Gwendolyn Mason of Saylorsburg; a sister, Virginia Boushell of Stroudsburg; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Theodore Horoshak

Theodore Horoshak, 84, of 26 E. Abbott St., Lansford, died Tuesday in Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Mary (Maholick) Horoshak.

Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a maitre d' in New York City hotels.

Born in Shamokin, he was a son of the late Simon and Anna (Telpash) Horoshak.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army.

The deceased was a 1931 graduate of Shamokin High School.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Theodore of New York City, N.Y.

He was also preceded in death by a son, William.

The Holmes-Griffiths Funeral Home, 200 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Margaret S. Leves

Mrs. Margaret S. Leves, 83, of Homeland, Calif., died June 4 in the Menifee Medical Center, Sun City, Calif. She was the widow of Albert M. Leves, formerly of Mauch Chunk.

She was a retired Naval nurse, attaining the rank of captain.

Born in Rochester, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Nicholis and Rose Schicker.

Funeral services will be held in Riverside, Calif.

Leonard E. Tully

Leonard E. "Len" Tully, 61, of 314 Beechwood Lane, Ashfield, formerly of Philadelphia, died Sunday evening in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, after an illness. He was the husband of Joanne E. (Barder) Tully. They observed their 40th wedding anniversary last September.

He was an insurance agent working out of the Philadelphia area from 1962 until retiring due to illness in 1996.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George E. and Rose (Gach) Tully.

He was of the Christian faith.

Tully was a 1956 graduate of LaSalle University, where he attained a bachelor of arts degree. He was an Army veteran, serving in peace time.

He was a former member of Rotary International, Lehighton; a former member of the Marple Newtown Players of Newtown Square, 1983-93; and a past umpire for the Havertown Little League Baseball team, 1964-77.

Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Rosemary, wife of Robert Crabtree of Boise, Idaho, Christine, wife of Frank Sepulueda of San Jose, Calif., and Cathy Anne of Horn Lake, Miss.; a son, James G. of Houston, Tex.; two brothers, Robert and Edward, both of Northeast Philadelphia; a sister Jane, wife of Jack Brennan of Lansdale; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and a great-step-granddaughter.

The Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Rt. 309, Snyders, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Leetha M. Schuck

Mrs. Leetha M. Schuck, 81, of 7980 Reidy Mill Road, Germansville, died Monday in the St. Luke Hospital-Allentown campus. She was the widow of Norman C. Schuck.

She was a table worker for the former Paris Neckwear, now Paris Accessories, Walnutport, for 16 years before retiring in 1981.

Born in East Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Franklin D. and Ida V. (Wambold) Kemp.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township.

Surviving are a son, Harold N., and two daughters, Brenda J., wife of Louis J. Schwartz, and Lucinda F., wife of Larry D. Guynn, all of Germansville; three sisters, Rhea L. Roeder and Edith E. Roth, both of Slatington, and Anna M., wife of Marvin German of Germansville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Charles C. Batman

Charles C. Batman, 78, of Bedminster Township, died Sunday in the Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the husband of Dorothy (Madara) Batman. They would have observed their 61st wedding anniversary this month.

He was a foreman for tyhe Tri-Boro Device Co., Doylestown, for 18 years before retiring in 1989, and previously was a slitting machine operator for the former Union Mills, New Hope, for 16 years.

Born in Shamokin, Northumberland County, he was a son of the late Albert and Lena (Tharp) Batman.

He was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dublin.

Batman was an Army veteran of World War II; a member of American Legion Post 242, Quakertown; and a life member of the Springtown Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Charles A. of Dublin, James M. of Andreas and Barry W. of Hilltown Township; a sister, Alberta Yocum of Paxinos, Northumberland County; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Donna Jean Frye

Donna Jean Frye, 52, of Box 37, Quakake, died Monday in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville.

Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late William and Violet (Zellner) Price.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are a longtime companion, Gary Williams, with whom she resided; a stepsister, Marian Link of Tuscarora; two stepbrothers, William Price of Allentown and Edward Price in New Jersey; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry William Frye; and a brother, Ronald Charles Price.

The Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, is in charge of the arrangements.

Russell O. Fessler

Russell O. Fessler, 94, formerly of 303 E. Patterson St., Lansford, died this morning in the Hometown Nursing Center, Tamaqua R2. He was the husband of Grace M. (Geiger) Fessler and the late Millicent (Morgan) Fessler, who died in 1947.

Prior to retiring, he had been employed as an assistant cashier at the former Dime Bank in Lansford.

Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late Frank U. and Elizabeth (Petterson) Fessler.

The deceased was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lansford; the Lansford Masons; and the American Fire Company No. 1, Lansford. The 1921 graduate of the former Lansford High School also served as a past president of the Lansford Rotary.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Harold M. of Coaldale; a daughter, Anne E., wife of Julius C. Cuthbertson Jr. of Norristown; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was also preceeded in death by a daughter, Betsy Jane Arner, who died in 1989.

Charles A. Wombacker

Charles A. Wombacker, 78, of 245 W. White St., Summit Hill, died Monday in the Miners Memorial medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Mae (Haldeman) Wombacker.

He was an electrician for the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company in the Panther Valley area and was also an electronics teacher at the Pottsville Vocational-Technical School.

Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Charles Sr. and Sarah (Bamford) Wombacker.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Summit Hill.

Wombacker was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill.

Surviving are two daughters, Lois Zarrah of Bensalem, Bucks County, and Charlotte A., wife of Gary J. Hanson of Coatesville, Chester County; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, is in charge of the arrangements.
