Richard Jones

Richard Jones, 84, of Becker Mobile Home Park, Walnutport, formerly of Catasauqua, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of the late Dorothy S. (Schuyler) Jones.

He worked in the maintenance department of the Trojan Powder Company, South Whitehall Township, for many years.

Born in Slatington, he was a son of the late David and Eva (Lauer) Jones.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua and the Vigilant Fire Company, Slatington.

Surviving is a daughter Regina, wife of Thomas E. Daniels of Slatington.

Mrs. Alex Kish

Mrs. Ruby C. Kish, 72, of 410 E. Main St., Bath, died Saturday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Alex Kish. They observed their 46th wedding anniversary last August.

In her earlier years, she was a seamstress for area garment factories.

Born in Bath, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Esther (Chapman) Temos.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bath.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a sister, Helen Williams of Walnutport.

William I. Hahn

William I. Hahn, 69, of 243 Spruce St., Tamaqua, formerly of Frackville, died Saturday afternoon in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, where he was a patient since Tuesday. He was the husband of Regina "Jean" (Stillwagner) Hahn. They were married 48 years.

He was a miner, having worked at area collieries.

Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Irvin) Hahn, and had lived in that community for most of his life.

He attended Frackville schools and was of the Protestant faith.

Hahn was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations. He was in a unit that helped lead the initial attacks on Omaha Beach and Sicily. His military decorations included the Legion of Merit, American Commendation Award and two battle stars.

He was a member of American Legion Post 398, Frackville; and the Schuylkill-Carbon Detachment of the Marine Corps League, where he was active with the Toys for Tots program.

Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, William of St. Clair and Harry of Tamaqua; two daughters, Marilyn Mertz of Lehighton and Alice Ketchledge of Mahanoy City; three brothers, James of Cressona, Graham of Shenandoah and Harold of New Cumberland; a sister, Alice Swartz of Ringtown; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Francis D. Egan Jr.

Francis D. "Frank" Egan Jr., 82, of Chestnut Ridge Circle, Kunkletown, died Friday in the ManorCare Health Services I, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Mary (Ewing) Egan. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary in October.

A graduate of Canisius College, Buffalo, N.Y., he was a supervisor in the data processing department of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1969.

Born in Midland, Beaver County, he was a son of the late Francis D. Sr. and Mary Adele (Scott) Egan.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth.

Surviving in addition to his widow are four daughters, Kathryn, wife of Andrew Stracko of Kennesaw, Ga., Patricia, wife of Clint Palmer of Pasadena, Calif., Mary Elizabeth, wife of James Stout of Danielsville, and Ellen, wife of Charles Ogle of Kunkletown; three sons, John M. of Bethlehem, James of Alpharetta, Ga., and Robert J. of Kunkletown; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Warren A. Shupp Jr.

Warren A. Shupp Jr., 59, formerly of Allentown, died Saturday in ManorCare Health Services, Bethlehem, where he resided.

He was a former welder for various Quakertown businesses.

Born in Lehighton, he was a son of Mrs. Gladys (Rickert) Shupp of Bethlehem and the late Warren A. Shupp Sr.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a son Richard of Montpelier, Vt.; three sisters, Davene, wife of Lester Wentz of Palmerton, Joanne, wife of Frank Scharp of Lantana, Fla., and Mary, wife of Robert Gamlin of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carl M. Carman

Mrs. Dorothy I. Carman, 74, of Effort, died Friday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Carl M. Carman. They observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in December.

Born in Battle Creek, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Markham and Naomi (Johnson) Fitzgerald.

She was a member of the Pocono Mountain Kennel Club.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Patricia Christy of Effort; a sister, Maxine Hanf of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.

The Kresge Funeral Home, Rt. 209, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Rhoda E. Davis

Rhoda E. Davis, 98, formerly of Hazleton, died Saturday in the Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth.

She was a secretary to Judge Blair Mooney in Detroit, Mich., until retiring in 1968, and previously was secretary to the president of Hazleton National Bank.

Born in Audenreid, Banks Township, Carbon County, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Mary Ellen (Thomas) Davis.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hazleton.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Charlotte C. Daniels

Charlotte C. Daniels, 81, of 256 Long Alley, Scranton, died Friday in her home.

She was a sewing machine operator for the former Cross Country Clothes, Northampton, for 40 years before retiring in 1978.

Born in Aquashicola, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Jane (Graver) Silfies.

She was of the United Church of Christ faith.

The deceased was a past president of the ladies band auxiliary of the former Slatington High School.

Surviving are a daughter, Lynda R., wife of Harold W. Kromer of Danielsville; two sons, Edward L. of Lompoc, Calif., and Lonnie L. of Slatington; a sister, Mrs. Alberta Greene of Palmerton; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ada Wellershaus

Mrs. Ada Wellershaus, 89, of Saylorsburg, died Friday in the Brookmont Acres Nursing Center, Effort. She was the widow of Benno Wellershaus.

Born in Snydersville, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Suzanna (Bittenbender) Haney.

She was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Effort.

Surviving are cousins.

William H. Bray Sr.

William H. "Tedder" Bray Sr., 57, of Fifth Street, Phillipsburg, N.J., died Thursday in the Warren Hospital in New Jersey. He was the husband of Joan (Sipos) Bray.

He was a salesman for Kar Products, Inc., in the Lehigh Valley.

Born in Easton, he was a son of Mrs. Muriel (Wilson) Bray of Finesville, N.J., and the late Harry Bray.

The deceased was a corporal in the Marine Corps.

He was a member of the Old-timers Softball League, Phillipsburg; the Palmer Veterans Softball League; and the Old-timers Golf League and Garnett Brothers.

Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are a son, Sgt. William H. Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Tammy Kaulius of Easton, Connie Muller of Phillipsburg and Carole J. of Bethlehem; a brother, Alan R. of Finesville; a sister, Shirley Horvath of Effort; and four grandchildren.

J. Erik Villesvik

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Eulalia Cemetery in Coudersport for John Erik Villesvik.

A 1972 graduate of Coudersport Area High School, Mr. Villesvik, 53, died unexpectedly at his home in Fullerton, Calif., on March 20, 2008. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fickinger Funeral Home in Coudersport.

Cherri L. Sisler

Cherri L. Sisler, 38, of Emporium, formerly of Bradford, died Friday (May 9, 2008) at her residence. Arrangements are under the direction of the Koch Chatley Gaeto Funeral Home.

Donald Setzer

Donald H. Setzer, 64, of Coudersport, died Friday (May 9, 2008) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Burial was in Reed Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 67, Bradford PA 16701; or to Patterson Cancer Care Center, 1001 E. Second St., Coudersport PA 16915.

Elsie Deitrick

Elsie Deitrick, formerly of Coudersport, died Tuesday (May 13, 2008) at Ocala (Fla.) Regional Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Robert Deitrick, and a son, Dennis Deitrick. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced.

Frances Haskins

Frances L. Haskins, 84, of Emporium, died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys, on Tuesday (May 13, 2008). Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, Emporium, on Saturday, May 24, at 11 am with

Rev. Gary Atkinson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Donahey Cemetery, Halton.

Edla Mitchell

Edla R. Mitchell, 65, of Emporium, died Saturday (May 17, 2008) at the Elk Regional Health Center. Private burial was in St. Leo's Cemetery in Ridgway.

Memorials may be made to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 East Second Street, Emporium, PA 15834.

William Crawford

William E. (Mickey) Crawford, died on Sunday (April 6, 2008) in Sellersburg, Indiana. Burial was in the Rich Valley Cemetery.

Cherri Sisler

Cherri L. Sisler, 38, of Emporium, formerly of Bradford, died Friday (May 9, 2008). Burial will be in Bridgeview Cemetery, Mount Jewett.

Bruce Setzer

Bruce L. Setzer, 46, of Coudersport, died Thursday (May 15, 2008) in Elma, NY. Burial was in the Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport.

Memorials may be made to the Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 161, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Coudersport Ambulance Association, 122 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.

Elsie Deitrick Elsie A. Deitrick, 75, of Coudersport died Tuesday (May 13, 2008) at Ocala, FLRegional Hospital.

J. Erik Villesvik

John Heitzenrater

John W. Heitzenrater, 82, of E. Allegany Ave., Emporium, died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys, on Saturday (May 24, 2008). Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.

Memorial Contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc., 1019 Mumma Rd., Wormleysburgh, PA 17043.

Mrs. David T. Pituch

Mrs. Nicole M. Pituch, 22, of 20 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, died Wednesday in her home. She was the wife of David T. Pituch. They observed their first wedding anniversary in February.

She was a hostess at the Beacon 443 Diner, Lehighton.

Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of Jack Hager of Jim Thorpe and Marge (Skelly), wife of Larry Schnell of Franklin Township.

The deceased was a member of Diligent Fire Company, Jim Thorpe.

Surviving in addition to her husband, father, mother and stepfather are two sons, Jacob Tout and Kodie Pituch, both at home; a stepson, David J. Pituch; paternal grandparents, Jack and Claire (McMahon) Hager Sr. of Jim Thorpe; a brother, Staff Sgt. Scott Stout, stationed with the Thunderbirds at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nev.; and a sister Bridget, wife of Richard Murphy of Lansford.

The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of the arrangements.
