Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Charles O. Wolfe
Charles O. Wolfe, 89, of 639 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, formerly of Allentown, died Wednesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Myrtle I. (Springer) Wolfe and the late Virginia (Dotter) Wolfe. He and his second wife observed their eighth wedding anniversary last August.
He was a mechanic and supervisor of maintenance for LANTA for 47 years before retiring in 1976.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Harry Wolfe and Ada M. (Belford) Wolfe Deily.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua.
Wolfe was president of the Liberty Bell Credit Union, Allentown, for 20 years; a former board member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 956, Allentown; and a member of Constantine Lodge, Independent Order of Foresters, and the Calvary Moravian Church menıs bowling team, both in Allentown.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a stepdaughter Elizabeth, wife of James E. Burke of Fort Campbell, Ky.; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
The Stephens Funeral Home, 1335-37 Linden St., Allentown, is in charge of the arrangements.

Paul A. Gersbach Sr.
Paul A. Gersbach Sr., 73, of Whitehall Township, died Thursday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Betty B. (Bortz) Gersbach. They observed their 48th wedding anniversary last month.
He was a laborer for Tarkett Co., Whitehall, for 17 years before retiring in 1988, and previously was a district foreman for Lehigh Valley Dairies for 17 years.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Weiss) Gersbach.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown.
Gersbach was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 367, Fullerton, and Porter Lodge No. 284, F. and A.M., Catasauqua.
In 1993, he received a commendation award from Whitehall Township, acknowledging his co-founding of the Fullerton Ramblers Knee-Hi Football team.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Paul A. Jr. of Whitehall and Thomas A. of Allentown; a brother Willard of Slatington; a sister, Minerva Greene of Palmerton; and three grandchildren.

Audrey J. Kratzer
Audrey J. Kratzer, 57, of 334 N. Ninth St., Allentown, died Tuesday in her home.
She was a factory worker for Fullerton Sportswear, Allentown.
Born in Germansville, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Ruth (Krick) Schlichting.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Surviving are a son, Shawn M. of Emmaus; a brother Robert of Kutztown; four sisters, Betty Wiedner and Hope Alamong, both of Allentown, Ruth in Georgia and Shirley Eck of Mount Joy; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

John Gor
John Gor, 76, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret T. (Dozer) Gor, who died in 1992.
A member of the United Steel Workers Local 2598, he was an inspector in the alloy and tool steel division of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 34 years before retiring in 1981.
A violin player, he was leader of ³The Hungarian Troubadours² and also played with the Steve Turoczi Orchestra and also had a radio program.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late John and Kathalina (Varga) Gor.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem Township.
Gor was an Army veteran of World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was a member of the Edgeboro Democratic Club and the Heights Athletic Association, both in Bethlehem.
Surviving are three sons, James G., Richard J. and Dennis P., all of Bethlehem; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Partel
Mrs. Mary Partel, 80, of 632 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, died Wednesday in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the widow of Louis F. Partel.
Prior to retiring, she was a teller at the First National Bank, Palmerton.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Mondak) Johannes.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann, wife of Dale Denlinger of Elizabethtown, and Louise, wife of Richard B. Balliet of Palmerton; a brother John of Palmerton; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville, with the Rev. Edward W. McElduff officiating, followed by interment in Sacred Heart Catholic Church's old cemetery, Palmerton.

Arthur J. Schaeffer
Arthur J. "Specks" Schaeffer, 83, of 689 W. Franklin St., Slatington, died Tuesday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Oneda N. (Smith) Schaeffer. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary last July.
He was a boiler room operator for the Pfizer Paint Mill, Inc., Slatington, for 43 years before retiring in 1978.
Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Daniel and Louisa (Kates) Schaeffer.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Slatington.
Schaeffer was a life member of the Slatington Hose Company No. 1 and a member of the Slatington Moose Lodge No. 1375, the Slatington Skeet Club and the Penn State Club of Carbon County.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Arthur G. of Slatington; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Ginsty of Carlisle, Cumberland County; and four grandchildren.

Anthony Bubick
Anthony Bubick, 76, of 185 Millway, Lehighton, died this morning at his residence. He was the husband of June A. (Snyder) Bubick. They were married 51 years last August..
Born in Packerton, he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Kuharski) Bubick.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton. He also belonged to the American Legion Post in Lehighton and the Beaver Run rod and Gun Club.
He served with the Air Force in Germany during World War II, and later with the Air Force Reserves.
During World War II, he was a prisoner of war with the Germans for 17 months.
Surviving with his widow are two daughters, Barbara Haydt of Aquashicola, and Suzanna Fisher of Lehighton; one son, Anthony of Bethlehem; two brothers, Walter and Edward, both of Mahoning Township; three sisters, Anna Bubick, Josephine, wife of Andrew Mermon, and Mildred Felton, all of Mahoning Township. Also three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, John and Joseph.
The Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty J. Strohl
Betty J. Strohl, 66, of HC-2, Box 2549, Unionville, Jim Thorpe, died this morning at her residence.
The Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, Jim Thorpe, is in charge of arrangments.

Mrs. Annabel I. Zellner
Mrs. Annabel I. Zellner, 71, of Germansville, died Tuesday in her home. She was the widow of Carl M. Zellner.
She was the Heidelberg Township tax collector from 1973-74.
Born in Weisenberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Fred E. and Ida M. (Kressley) Snyder.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli.
Surviving are three sons, Dale C. and Dennis W., both of Germansville, and Gary G.F. of Kempton; a daughter, Donna M., wife of David W. Snyder of New Tripoli; two brothers, James F. of Slatington and Paul F. of New Tripoli; a sister, Arlene A. of Schnecksville; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Rudy C. DeWit
Rudy C. DeWit, 65, of 4553 Darby St., Center Valley, died Tuesday in his home. He was the husband of Bertha A. ³Betty² (deJager) DeWit. They were married for 36 years.
He was a chemical engineer for the former A.T. & T., Allentown, for 30 years before retiring in 1990.
Born in Indonesia, he was a son of the late Willem and Elvira (Leidelmeyr) DeWit.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Roberta C., wife of Garth Herber of Center Valley; a son, Willem R. of Germansville; a brother Robert of Stanton, Calif.; a sister Yvone, wife of Ferdinand Sonneville of Jakarta, Indonesia; and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Carmel M. Rehrig
Mrs. Carmel M. Rehrig, 60, of 297 Blue Mountain Drive, Treichlers, died Tuesday in the Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. She was the widow of Arthur A. Rehrig.
She was the cafeteria manager for the Wind Gap Kmart store for two years, working until last October, and previously had worked in that capacity at the Walnutport Kmart for 14 years.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Anna (Nero) Zangari.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville.
Surviving are two sons, Martin A. of Walnutport and Mark A. of Treichlers; a brother John of Northampton; and two grandchildren.

Frank F. Minnich
Frank F. Minnich, 89, of Pine Grove R.1, died Tuesday morning in his home. He was the husband of the late Beulah E. (Wert) Minnich, who died on Nov. 18, 1985.
Prior to retiring, he was a railroad repairman for 48 years for the Reading Railroad.
Born in Washington Township, he was a son of the late Walter and Carrie (Warner) Minnich.
He was a member of Jacobıs Lutheran Church, Pine Grove R.1.
Minnich was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three sons, Walter of Orwin, Edward of Pine Grove and Kenneth of Reading; two daughters, Dorothy Snyder and Beatrice, both of Pine Grove R.1; a brother George of Lehighton; a sister, Pearl Brown of Fredericksburg; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son Floyd and a daughter, Marie Herring.

Michael T. Bobal
Michael T. Bobal, 79, of Buck Mountain, Barnesville, died Tuesday at his home. He was the husband of the late Anna (Rudy) Bobal, who died in 1991.
He was employed with Kraft Foods and also worked as an engineer in the bearing maintenance department of Army Bearing Industries, both of Jersey City, N.J., where he resided for 40 years before returning to Buck Mountain upon his retirement.
Born in Buck Mountain, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Minarick) Bobal.
He attended Mahanoy Township schools and was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Church, Mahanoy City.
He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater of Operations.
Surviving are two sisters, Anna Ditchey of Tamaqua, and Mary Podgurski of Frackville; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Joseph and John; and a sister, Margaret Bachert.
