Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Mrs. Thelma R. Snyder
Mrs. Thelma R. Snyder, 86, of Linwood, N.J., formerly of Allentown, died Tuesday in the Linwood Convalescent Center. She was the widow of Kenneth H.F. Snyder.
Born in Upland, Delaware County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence (Faust) Roderick.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Allentown, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women's Senior League.
Mrs. Snyder was secretary of the Class of 1928 of the former Slatington High School and served on its reunion committee.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet S. Rockafellow of Linwood; a sister, F. Margaret Blose of Summit, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Mae E. Miller
Mrs. Mae E. Miller, 87, of 422 Center Ave., Jim Thorpe, died Tuesday afternoon in the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton, two days after her birthday. She was the widow of David R. Miller, who died on Aug. 25, 1993.
She was a sewing machine operator for the former McCallis Mill, Jim Thorpe, before retiring.
Born in Upper Mauch Chunk, she was a daughter of the late Harry Leo and Mary Agnes (McElhenny) Haupt.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, and the Jim Thorpe Senior Citizens.
Surviving are several nieces.
The Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, is in charge of the arrangements.

John H. Lake Sr.
John H. Lake Sr., 50, of York, died Monday in his home.
He last worked for the B.M.Y. Co., York, for five years.
Born in South Plainfield, N.J., he was a son of Mrs. Florence (Hill) Didyoung of Walnutport and the late Leslie Lake Sr., and a stepson of Thomas Didyoung of Walnutport.
Surviving in addition to his mother and stepfather are four daughters; two sons, two sisters, including Patricia Spalding of Slatington; three stepbrothers, Tommy and Michael, both of Summit Hill, and Jay of Lehighton; three stepsisters, Donna Muthard of Lehighton and Anne Machalik and Lisa Green, both of Summit Hill; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Kathryn M. DeJoseph
Mrs. Kathryn M. DeJoseph, 76, of 2130 Fairmont St., Allentown, died Tuesday in her home. She was the widow of Thomas DeJoseph.
Born in Hellertown, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Ida M. (Scheetz) Gross.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Allentown, and a former volunteer for the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center and Lehigh County Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are a son, Thomas S. of Lehighton; five daughters, Diane, wife of Thomas Cavallaro, and Bernadette, both at home, Theresa, wife of John Waters, and Maryanne, wife of Robert Nichol, both of Allentown, and Kathryn, wife of Mohammed Shakibi of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Anna E. Snyder
Mrs. Anna E. Snyder, 79, of Whitehall Township, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the widow of Stanley E. Snyder.
Born in Laurys Station, she was a daughter of the late Oscar B. and Susan J. (Heffelfinger) Yehl.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Laurys Station, where she belonged to the quilters.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheila S., wife of Donald E. Lovelace of Northampton, and Sharon S., wife of Allen R. Ebner of Coplay; a brother Edgar of Walnutport; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Butz of Whitehall; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dorothea A. Morgan
Mrs. Dorothea A. (Yerashefsky) Morgan, 74, of 683 Wahneta St., Allentown, died Monday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. She was the widow of Clair G. Morgan.
A sewing machine operator, she worked at the former McSands Sportswear, Allentown, for 10 years before retiring in 1984, and formerly worked at Phoenix Clothes, Allentown, for many years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late James and Victoria (Yerashefsky) Buividas.
She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Allentown.
Surviving are two sons, Robert D. of Nesquehoning and Dennis S. of Easton; five daughters, Rose, wife of Daniel J. Lazar, Denise, wife of Edward Latsch, and Dorothea Salm, all of Allentown, Sharon, wife of Edward Watkin of Alexandria, Va., and Roxana, wife of Raymond Westwood of Salisbury Township; two brothers, Paul Schiffert in New Jersey and Rowland Schiffert of Allentown; three sisters, Mae Yost of Richlandtown, Margaret Csekitz of Bethlehem and Rose, wife of John Lenner of Whitehall Township; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Richard Morgan.

Mrs. Dorothy L. Keener
Mrs. Dorothy L. Keener, 86, of 21 Christman Road, Lower Alsace Township, Berks County, died Tuesday in ManorCare Health Services, Laureldale. She was the widow of David Keener.
Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late George and Lillian (Schierer) Reaman.
She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stony Creek Mills, Berks County.
Surviving is a nephew.

Joseph P. Zelienka
Joseph P. Zelienka, 70, of 718 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, died Monday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Agnes (Morrissey) Zelienka. They were married 41 years on Monday.
He was an electrical engineer with the Fuller Company, Catasauqua plant, for 37 years before retiring in 1986.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Paul and Anna (Macay) Zelienka.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Lafayette Council No. 2522, both of Palmerton.
Zelienka was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Joseph P. Jr. of Northampton and Kevin of Slatington; a daughter, Susan A. Williams, and a sister Anna, wife of Elmo Valo, both of Palmerton; and five grandchildren.
The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Constance Leidich
Mrs. Constance Leidich, 76, of 115 W. Lehigh St., Coaldale, died Tuesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of James Leidich.
She was an assembler for the U.S. government in the New Jersey and New York areas during World War II.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late George and Alberta (Washkevich) Oran.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Lithuanian Catholic Church, Coaldale.
The deceased was a 1938 graduate of the former Coaldale High School.
Surviving are a brother George of Hartsdale, N.Y.; nieces and a nephew.
The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Rose Morana
Mrs. Rose Morana, 70, of 126 E. Howard Ave., Coaldale, died Tuesday in the Intensive Care Unit of the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, where she was a patient for two days. She was the widow of William Morana, who died in 1980.
She was a sewing machine operator for Fun Time Sportswear, Lansford, before retiring.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Mihalchik) Balish.
She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Coaldale.
The deceased was a 1944 graduate of the former St. Mary's High School, Coaldale.
Surviving are a daughter Roseann, wife of William Weaver, at home; a son William of Coaldale; two sisters, Julia Balish of Coaldale and Mary Blasko of Harrisburg; and seven grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Frank; and a sister Anna.
The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of the arrangements.

Lewis E. Ader
Lewis E. Ader, 56, of Effort, died Monday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He was a self-employed lawn mower repairman for 15 years before retiring in 1992.
Born in Somerville, N.J., he was a son of the late Norman and Mary Madeline (Stalter) Ader.
Surviving are a brother Chester of Effort; and three sisters, Mary Lou Ianuale of Sciota, Alice Longcor of Effort and Kathryn Lutz of Fairmount, N.J.
The Kresge Funeral Home, Rt. 209, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Edward J. Kusko
Edward J. Kusko, 72, a resident of Villa Teresa Nursing Home, Lower Paxton Township, formerly of 30 Short Street, Susquehanna Township, died Sunday in the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Township.
He was a retired employee of Dauphin County City Transportation and a former employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Born in Lansford, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna Kusko.
He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, the Progress Fire Company and the Lansford AMVETS.
Kusko was a 1942 graduate of the former Lansford High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy E., wife of James Kennedy, and Geraldine A. Solack, both of Lansford; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Susquehanna Township with burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

William E. Hiller
William E. "Sparkle" Hiller, 73, of Sorrento, Fla., formerly of Jim Thorpe, died Tuesday in the Mount Dora Health Care Center, Mount Dora, Fla.
He was a retired self-employed salesman.
Born in Upper Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Harvey and Jessamine (Wildoner) Hiller.
He a corporal in the Army Air Force during World War II, having served in New Guinea, Okinawa and Japan.
Hiller played baseball with the 305th Air Force All Stars. While living in Mauch Chunk and Jim Thorpe, he played for, coached and managed several baseball teams.
An avid golfer, he had three holes-in-one in his career.
Hiller was a member of the Dolon-Jones-Martino American Legion Post 304, Jim Thorpe.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Zvorsky of Orwigsburg; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Walker; and two brothers, Stroud and Harvey Jr.
