Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Mrs. William Haberchak
Mrs. Jane F. Haberchak, 58, of White Haven, died Sunday morning in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was the wife of William Haberchak.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper and was employed by the former Sharp's Bakery, Freeland; the former First Eastern Bank, Wilkes-Barre, and most recently by Pocono Craftsmen, Inc., of White Haven.
Born in Freeland, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Mary (Boyle) Spaide.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a stepson William of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother William of Macungie; a sister Ann, wife of William Potzner of Beaver Meadows; three nieces and a nephew.

Joseph F. Stianchie
Joseph F. "Al" Stianchie, 74, of 232 E. Center St., Nesquehoning, died Monday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Beatrice E. (Kibler) Stianchie.
He worked for the former Bundy Tubing Company, Hometown, before retiring in 1980.
Born in Hauto, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Imerchak) Stianchie, and was a lifelong resident of the community.
He was a corporal in the Army during World War II, having served with the 346th Infantry, 87th Division.
Stianchie was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Post, American Legion Post and the Sokol Citizens Club, all of Nesquehoning.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Joann Davenport of Nesquehoning, Bernice, wife of James McIntyre of Pittsburgh, and Mary Kruczek of Lansford; two brothers, Michael and John, both of Hauto; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Steve; and three sisters, Gizella, Anna and Antoinette.
The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of the arrangements.

Joseph J. Bankes
Joseph J. Bankes, 66, of 258 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, died Monday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale.
Prior to retiring, he was employed as a utility man for Johns Manville.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kastrava) Bankes.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Bankes was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the American Legion, AMVETS, BPO Elks and Italian Club, all of Lansford.
Surviving are a brother, Stanley J. of Summit Hill; and a longtime companion, Anna Marie Whitenight, with whom he resided.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Trusa and Catherine Slog; and a brother Andrew F.
The Holmes-Griffiths Funeral Home, 200 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael F. Babinetz
Michael F. Babinetz, 60, of 155 First St., Coaldale, died this morning in his home after a lengthly illness. He was the husband of Paula (Kintz) Babinetz.
He was last employed at Mack Trucks in Macungie.
Born in Coaldale, he was the son of Helen (Paslawsky) Babinetz and the late Frank Babinetz.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Orthodox Church, Lansford.
He served with the U.S. Army for two years, in peace time, in Germany.
Surviving with his widow and mother is a son Michael Jr. of Coaldale; three daughters, Anastasia, wife of Brian Bonner, Jacqueline, wife of Russell Jaso, and Mary Babinetz all of Coaldale; two step-sons, Nicholas Digiglio of Lansford; Charles Digigilio at home; one step-daughter, Melissa, wfe of Kenneth Busch of Coaldale and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Jacqueline Starry.
The August M. Gulla Funeral Home, 130 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, is in charge of arrangements.

Terry D. Smith
Terry D. Smith, 43, of 118 Weeping Willow Lane, Ashfield, died Sunday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Lavona M. (Strohl) Smith.
He was a mechanic for Frantz Brothers, Northampton.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of Norman C. Sr. and Pauline M. (Hawk) Smith of Ashfield.
He was a member of Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ashfield, and the Slatington Skeet Club.
Surviving with his wife and parents, is a son, Cory R., and a daughter, Nicole M., both of Ashfield; three brothers, Norman C. Jr. and Barry L., both of Ashfield, and Dale A. of Bowmanstown; a sister, Patsy A., wife of Charles E. Dieter of Ashfield.
The Campton Funeral Home Inc., 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. George Miller
Mrs. Margaret Miller, 66, of 138 Hazard St., Summit Hill, died Saturday at her home. She was the wife of George E. Miller. They were married 42 years in February.
She worked for Breyers Ice Cream, Long Island, N.Y., for 36 years until retiring in 1984.
Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Susan (Jurba) Roscoe.
She lived most of her life in Queens, N.Y., and lived in Summit Hill the last five years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Nesquehoning.
Surviving with her husband is a brother, Ronald Minjac of Northampton; two sisters, Mary, wife of Andrew Zyats of Summit Hill, and Susan Freeh of Nesquehoning.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Dewese; a brother, Wash Dacey; and a niece, Gail.

Wayne A. Smith
Wayne A. Smith, 61, of H-63, Mobile Court 2, Walnutport, died Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Fogel) Smith.
He was a tractor-trailer driver for Mid-Atlantic Canners Associates, Coca-Cola, Hamburg, for 35 years until retiring last year.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Norman and Estella (Schaeffer) Smith.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Dwayne A. of Palmerton, Chris A. of Walnutport, and Lynn A., at home; a daughter, Kim L. of Whitehall Township; two brothers, Dale D. of Walnutport, and Edward N. of Germansville; a sister, Barbara A., wife of Harvin C. Beltz of Slatington; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded by two brothers, Norman and Raymond; and three sisters, Dorothy Smith, Virginia Sherer and Joann Sensinger.

Mrs. Edgar F. Lorah Sr.
Mrs. Ruth L. Lorah, 72, of 4739 Cypress Road, Walnutport, died Sunday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Edgar F. Lorah Sr. They were married 52 years in March.
She was a bus driver in the Northampton Area School District for Leibensperger School Transportation Inc., Cherryville, for 23 years until retiring in 1987. She also assisted her husband on the family farm in Lehigh Township.
Born in Washington Township, she was a daughter of the late Henry O. and Annie A. (Peters) Krum.
She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.
Surviving with her husband are six sons, Dalton R., Keith H., Dwight R., Vernon K. and Edgar F. Jr., all of Walnutport, and Timothy M. of Kunkletown; two daughters, Charlotte K., wife of Roy H. Becker of Slatington, and Kathyann, wife of Terry L. Silfies of Northampton; a sister, Mrs. Franklin P. (Arlene M.) Phillips of Slatington; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

Mrs. Frank G. Betz
Mrs. Sylvia A. Betz, 50, of 221 S. Second St., Coplay, died Sunday at home. She was the wife of Frank G. Betz Sr. They were married 30 years in June.
She was a packer for Jesse James Inc., of Allentown, for the past four years.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Frank J. and Helen J. (Frisch) Toth of North Coplay.
She was a member of the United Church of God, Bethlehem.
Surviving with her husband and parents is a son, Frank J. Jr. of New Tripoli; a daughter, Bridge A., at home; a brother, Mark F. of Cherryville; and a sister, Mrs. Maureen Rauscher of Cetronia.

Charles G. Bollinger
Charles G. Bollinger, 93, of Evergreen Ave., Weatherly, died Thursday, July 31, in Weatherwood, Weatherly. He was the husband of the late Persie L. (Green) Bollinger.
He was a self-employed farmer for 40 years and retired in 1980.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Nathan and Alavesta Bollinger.
He is survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Emma Green.
The T.K. Thomas Funeral Home Inc., 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Rose Gartland
Mrs. Mary Rose Gartland, 75, of Whitehall Township, formerly of Hellertown, died Thursday, July 31, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the widow of Joseph M. Gartland.
She was a plug tamper for the former Hellertown Manufacturing Company for 31 years, retiring in 1982.
Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Caroline (Mikulcik) Chudy.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay.
Surviving is her brother-in-law, William E. Heigl, with whom she resided; and nieces.
