Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Mrs. Catherine Miknyoczki
Mrs. Catherine Miknyoczki, 70, of Palmer Township, Northampton County, died Tuesday in the Easton Hospital. She was the widow of Julius J. Miknyoczki Sr.
She was a winder for Magnetic Windings, Palmer Township, for many years before retiring in 1975.
Born in Phillipsburg, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Gladis) Svachak.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Seniors Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol A. Dynes of Bethlehem and Margaret M. Edgar of Nazareth; a son, Jules J. Jr. of Danielsville; a brother Andrew and four sisters, Ann, Verna, Mary Melick and Helen Casey, all of Phillipsburg; and four grandchildren.

James F. Weisenberger
James F. Weisenberger, 59, of Palmer Township, Northampton County, died Tuesday in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Marian (Frey) Weisenberger. They would have observed their 27th wedding anniversary on Friday.
He was employed by the Mountain View Corrections Center, Annandale, N.J., for 10 years before retiring in 1995 due to disability, and previously was a bus driver for the Easton Area School District for three years.
Born in Wilson, he was a son of the late Frederick B. and Josephine (Moser) Weisenberger.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Kyle of Palmer Township; a stepson, Gary Hasko of Wilson; two stepdaughters, Linda Crouse of Palmer Township and Karen Keiser of New Tripoli; a brother John of Forks Township; and five grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James F. Jr.

Mrs. Rozelle Earley
Mrs. Rozelle Earley, 82, of 194 Hudsondale St., Weatherly, died early Tuesday morning in her home. She was the widow of John Earley, who died in 1971.
She and her husband operated Earley's Cafe on Hudsondale Street in Weatherly.
Born in Weatherly, she was a daughter of the late David and Mary Ellen (Horn) Hinkle.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Weatherly.
Surviving are two sons, John of Hazleton and William, with whom she resided; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nettie Singer and Margaret Foster; and two brothers, John and Louis.

Mrs Jerome F. Kattner
Mrs. Margaret R. Kattner, 78, of 324 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, died Tuesday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the wife of Jerome F. Kattner.
Born in Hauto Village, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Yatsko) Meterko.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nesquehoning.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Francis and Paul J., both of Nesquehoning, and Richard S. of Bowmanstown; a brother Stephen of Lansford; three sisters, Anna Yevcak and Agnes Gazo, both of Lansford, and Dorothy, wife of Daniel Gieniec of Summit Hill; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Jack and Michael; and two sisters, Martha Kusko and Theresa Stockmal.
The Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 W. Center St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary M. Marchie
Gary M. Marchie, 27, of 60 Panorama Circle, Kunkletown, died Saturday in Towamensing Township.
He was a stock boy for Redner's Warehouse Market, Nesquehoning.
Born in Plainfield, N.J., he was a son of Garry Marchie of Piscataway, N.J., and Eileen M. (Rogers) Marchie Waldron of Kunkletown.
Surviving in addition to his parents are three brothers, Joseph A. Waldron and Denis Waldron, both of Kunkletown, and Scott Marcie of Piscataway; three sisters, Lena M. Marchie of Allentown and Kimberly Marchie and Melanie Marchie, both of Piscataway; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Gloria (Galasso) Rogers of Middlesex, N.J.; step-grandfather, Bob Norton of Lothian, Md.; and grandmother, Helen J. (Olmedo) Marchie Norton of Lothian, Md.
The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Allen L.E. Newhard
Allen L.E. Newhard, 56, of 3861 Lehigh Drive, Northampton, died Saturday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria L. (Reph) Newhard. They observed their 25th wedding anniversary on March 18.
He worked in the sanitation department of Kraft Foods, Inc., Fogelsville, for 24 years, and also was a self-employed farmer in Lehigh Township for most of his life.
Born in Lehigh Township, he was a son of the late Eddie C.D. and Elda M. (Fogel) Newhard.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ of Indianland, Cherryville.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Dawn M., at home; three brothers, George C.D. of Live Oaks, Fla., Adam F. of Danielsville and Paul M. of Walnutport; and three sisters, Luella E.J., wife of Ernest Oplinger of Anna, Tex., Mabel, wife of Nevin Bleiler of New Smithville, Pa., and Martha R., wife of Leonard Leindecker of Mountain Top, Pa.
The Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Aquila A.C. Henning
Aquila A.C. Henning, 84, formerly of 216 E. Ridge St., Lansford, died Friday evening in the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Edith (Strohl) Henning, who died in 1985.
Prior to retiring, he worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and later for the Cherryville Iron Foundry.
Born in Albrightsville, he was a son of the late Aquila A. and Annie (Dotter) Henning.
Surviving are six sons, Philbert of Mahoning Valley, Harley of Walnutport, Kenneth of Jim Thorpe and Robert, Timothy and James, all of Lehighton; three daughters, Ruth Ann Delaney and Edith, wife of James Berger, both of Jim Thorpe, and Judy, wife of Joseph Fiorentino of Lehighton; a son Timothy of Lehighton; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harley F. Henning; a grandson, James Adam; and a granddaughter, Debbie Walck. A stepson, Donald Smith, passed away on Saturday.
The Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, is in charge of the arrangements.

Joseph P. Stevko
Joseph P. Stevko, 69, of 4882 Lehigh Drive, Walnutport, died Saturday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Anastasia P. (Lacko) Stevko.
He was a truck driver for AZAR Iron Works, Bath, for five years before retiring in 1990, and previously was a driver for the former Coca-Cola Bottling, Palmerton, for 37 years.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of Mrs. Helen (Harmady) Stevko of Palmerton and the late Joseph G. Stevko.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.
Stevko was an Army veteran.
He was a past faithful navigator of Lafayette Assembly, 4th degree, Knights of Columbus, Palmerton.
Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are two sons, Joseph A. of Walnutport and Mark A. of Palmerton; two daughters, Sandra, wife of Thomas Paul, and Joann P., wife of Robert Knauss, both of Northampton; two sisters, Ann, wife of John Stampfel of Toms River, N.J., and Patricia, wife of James Kohler of Bath; and nine grandchildren.
The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cora G. Buck
Mrs. Cora G. Buck, 79, formerly of 385 Buck Hill Road, Palmerton, died Saturday in Weatherwood, Weatherly. She was the widow of Steward Buck.
Born in Albrightsville, she was a daughter of the late Roger and Jessica (Hawk) Green.
She was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville.
Surviving are three stepsons, Carl of Aquashicola, Wilmer of Danielsville and Richard of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hahn of Palmerton and Hannah, wife of Carl Buck of Aquashicola; three brothers, Lloyd of Palmerton, Sterling of Levittown and Harley of Yardley; nine grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
The Thomas K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Earl F. Eberts Sr.
Earl F. Eberts Sr., 69, of 5936 Old Carriage Road, Bath, East Allen Township, died Saturday in his home. He was the husband of Sarah E. "Betty" (Kintz) Eberts. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Oct. 19.
He was a mechanic for the former Kunkle Garage, Weissport, for three years, and later worked for H.S. Campbell, Inc., Bethlehem, for 10 years. Later, he owned and operated his own construction business in Bath, retiring in 1991.
Following retirement, he used his specially-equipped van to transport handicapped people.
Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Clayton R. and Minnie (Reichard) Eberts.
Surviving in addition to his widow are four sons, Norton F. and Edward C., both of Bath, Robert J. of Northampton and Earl F. Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; four daughters, Jean A. Serman of Northampton, Joan M. Covert of Chestertown, Md., and Joanne L. and Wendy C., both at home; four brothers, Albert of Bethlehem and Willard, Kenneth and Richard, all of Bath; three sisters, Ruth Anthony and Alberta Frey, both of Lehighton, and Helen Krock of Walnutport; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Eberts and Alice Haldeman.

Donald J. Smith Sr.
Donald J. Smith Jr., 60, of 5986 Kerschner Road, New Tripoli, died Saturday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Mary J. (Eisenhard) Smith and the late Shirley A. (Stein) Smith. He and his second wife observed their sixth wedding anniversary in April.
He was an inspection mechanic for Lehigh Auto Service, Allentown, for the past year, and previously had worked for Persing Auto Service and the former Wentz Automotive, both of Allentown, for many years.
Born in Carbon County, he was a son of the late Jacob D. and Edith R. (Strohl) Smith.
He was a member of the Goodwill Fire Company No. 1, Germansville, where he served as president. He was also the recording secretary of the Lehigh County Fire Police Association and a past president of the Izaak Walton Rod and Gun Club, South Whitehall Township.
Smith also belonged to the Heidelberg Township Fire Police; the Smokey Bears of the Fairview Fire Company No. 11, Allentown; Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, New Tripoli; Guthsville Rod and Gun Club, Orefield; and the Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club, Northampton.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Donald J. Jr. and David J., both of Allentown, and Daniel J. of Emmaus; a daughter, Diana M., wife of Victor P. Torres of Allentown; a stepson, Michael E. Woodring of Baltimore, Md.; a stepdaughter, Tammy M. Woodring of Atlanta, Ga.; six brothers, Philbert L. Henning, James A. Henning and Timothy P. Henning, all of Lehighton, Harley A. Henning of Slatington, Kenneth G. Henning of Jim Thorpe and Robert J. Henning of Weissport; three sisters, Edith M., wife of James E. Berger, and Judith L., wife of Joseph D. Fiorentino, both of Lehighton, and Ruth A. Delaney of Jim Thorpe; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ann Walck, who died in February; and his stepfather, Aquila A.C. Henning, who died Friday.

Philip A. Ruggiero
Philip A. "Poochie" Ruggiero, 77, of 707 Garibaldi Ave., Roseto, died Sunday in the Easton Hospital after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Jennie A. (Drago) Ruggiero. They observed their 51st wedding anniversary in April.
He worked for the former Pioneer Sportswear, Nazareth, for 25 years before retiring as a foreman in 1989, and previously was employed by the former Alpha-Portland Cement, Martins Creek, and the former Strongwear Pants, Roseto.
Born in Roseto, he was a son of the late Antonio and Concetta (Falcone) Ruggiero.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Roseto, where he belonged to the former Holy Name Society.
Ruggiero was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with its Corps of Engineers in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, European Theater and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medals.
Ruggiero was a member of the Italian Mutual Benefit Association, Stroudsburg, the Columbia Fire Company, Roseto, where he was steward for 20 years, and the Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post 750, the Marconi Club and the Buffone Club, all of Roseto.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Anthony P. of Slatington; three sisters, Grace Coccia of Bangor, Carmel Tomaro of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, and Concetta Muttillo of North Royalton, Ohio; two brothers, William of Roseto and Anthony of Washington Township; and two grandchildren.
