Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

CLAIRE M. BRILHART

Claire M. Brilhart, 89, of Scottdale, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, April 16, 2000, in the Scottdale Manor Rehabilitation Center, Scottdale. She was born April 8, 1911, in Connellsville. Claire was a lifelong member of the community of Scottdale and also of the Scottdale Mennonite Church and the church Sunday school class. Claire leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Richard Brilhart and his wife, Carole, of Scottdale, Jim Brilhart and his wife, Bonnie, of Scottdale, John Brilhart and his wife, Susan, of Scottdale, and Maureen Strevels of Scottdale; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters , Ruth Genelli and her husband, Al, of Uniontown, and Myrtle Henderson and her husband, Charles, of Euclid, Ohio. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Brilhart, on July 5, 1990; a son, Donald Brilhart, on March 13, 1958; and a grandson, Aaron Richard Brilhart, on July 6, 1987. Claire's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where her funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Doug Amstutz, officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery.

JOSEPHINE E. GALANDO

Josephine E. Galando, 90, of Penn Township, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in her home. She was born Feb. 18, 1910, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Frank and Sarah Hall Eckenroad. She was a member of the New Life Free Methodist Church in Harrison City for 70 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Galando Sr., in 1984; a brother, Floyd Eckenroad; and two sisters , Elizabeth Gross and Emma Fike. She is survived by two sons , Samuel Galando Jr. of Florida and Gerald Galando of Louisiana ; a daughter, Mary Etta Bertolino of Penn Township; a sister, Norah Cope of McVey Town; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Thursday at the New Life Free Methodist Church in Harrison City from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time funeral services will be held with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

ANN HEBRANK

Ann Hebrank, 99, of Greensburg, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, in Oak Hill Rest Home. She was born Sept. 2, 1900, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late David and Margaret Powell Thomas. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her husband, Joseph C. Hebrank; a son, Thomas Hebrank; a grandson, Michael Hebrank; and several brothers and sisters . Surviving are her children, Joan Smith and husband William, Mary Jane Shrum and husband Paul; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Hebrank, all of Greensburg; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. There will be no public viewing. Services will be held at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Thursday at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 555 Grant St., Suite 425, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

OLGA P. LARRY

Olga P. Larry, 89, of Latrobe, died Friday, April 14, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1911, in Youngwood, a daughter of the late Albino and Angelina Fiaschetti Colonna. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, and had served as a volunteer at Latrobe Area Hospital for several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Larry, on Oct. 31, 1984; her stepmother, Arcangela Colabelli Colonna; six sisters , Theresa Battisti, Bertha Carnale, Mary Paluzzi, Gilda "Gean" Naylor, Ann Ferrara and Gwendolyn Allen; three brothers , Renald, Adamont "Ed" and Ralph Colonna; and a brother and sister in infancy, Madeline and Lawrence. Survivors include two daughters , Gilda Hurite and her husband, Francis, of Pittsburgh and Anita Richwine of Dayton, Ohio; five granddaughters and their husbands; 13 great-grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Nicholas Larry of Norfolk, Va. There were no public visitations. Private services and entombment were held in the Greensburg Catholic Mausoleum. The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. John the Evangelist Church Building Fund, 306 St. John Drive, Latrobe, PA 15650, or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Latrobe.

MARY L. CUCCHI LUSEBRINK

Mary L. Cucchi Lusebrink, 72, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Hempfield Township. She was born May 6, 1927, in Hahntown, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Govannia (Fabrizio) Cucchi. She was a buyer at G.C. Murphy Co. and was a member of St. Agnes Church. Survived by her husband, Ernest R. Lusebrink; a son, Keith Lusebrink of Houston, Texas ; a brother, Joseph Cucchi of Manor; two sisters , Donna Kovac of North Huntingdon and Nancy Popovich of Hahntown; and a granddaughter, Haley Lusebrink of Forest Hills. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Blessing service Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment Irwin Union Cemetery.

AGNES R. MITCHELL

Agnes R. Mitchell, 85, of Latrobe, formerly of Greensburg and Irwin, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in the Loyalhanna Care Center. She was born April 14, 1915, in Whitney, a daughter of the late John and Justine Ferko Karol. She retired in 1979 as head baker from the Norwin School District. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg, the Norwin Public Schools Employees Association, the Blessed Sacrament Autumn Leaves and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers , Michael, Andrew and John Karol; and three sisters , Mary Karol, Nancy Romanick and Justine Kelley. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jacqueline) Albaugh; two grandsons, Richard and Dennis, both of Florida; two nephews, Regis Kelley, and Patrick Kelley and his wife Joann; a niece, Tina (Kelley) Smidansky and her husband Chuck; several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friend, Mary Jane Palmer. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg (everyone please go directly to the church). Private interment. A wake service will be held Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

ALICE M. RILEY

Alice M. Riley, 88, a lifelong resident of McKeesport, died Sunday, April 16, 2000. She was born Dec. 3, 1911, in McKeesport, the daughter of the late John W. and Selma Jernberg Pearson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McKeesport, and its Naomi Circle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Moral W. Riley. Survivors include two sons , William J. Riley and daughter-in-law, Evelyn, of North Huntingdon and Robert M. Riley and daughter-in-law, Judy, of Landing, N.J.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special niece, Barbara A. Petron of White Oak; and other nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at STRIFFLERS' OF WHITE OAK, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Snodgrass officiating. Interment in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, Cornell Street and Versailles Avenue, McKeesport, PA 15132.

JOSEPHINE G. SKINNER

Josephine G. Skinner, 91, of Penn Township, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born March 11, 1909, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Carmen and Marion Paglucci Agona. She was a member of Ascension Church in Jeannette and the Rosary Altar Society of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Skinner, in 1991; three brothers , Anthony, P.G. "Gus," and James Agona; and three sisters , Anna Perillo, Margaret Bematre, and Lena Agona. She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte and husband, Andrew Tlumac, of Penn Township; a sister, Helen Grazan of Greensburg; and two granddaughters, Laurie Patrick and Lisa Fox. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Ascension Church with Monsignor Nicholas A. Mitolo as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

WILLIAM R. WEST

William R. West, 74, of Latrobe, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Barnes House, Derry Township. He was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Latrobe, a son of the late John and Mae (Alexander) West. Bill began a teaching career in the Ligonier School District in 1950 until 1960, teaching history and English, and coaching basketball. He then came to the Latrobe School District as a teacher, track, field and cross-country coach. He retired in 1987 as the home school visitor and faculty manager. He was also a well-known PIAA official in both basketball and football. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a tail gunner with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 515. Bill also served as the program director for Latrobe Parks and Recreation for over 25 years, and was a former board member of the Latrobe Little League. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Athalene (Hays) West, on April 15, 1992; three brothers , Kenneth, Joseph B. and John "Hap" West; and a sister, Annabelle Young. He is survived by two sons , W. Robert West and his wife, Michele, and Raymond Victor West and his wife, Elizabeth, both of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Amy, Scott, Neal and Jordann West; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. William E. Ordelt Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, near Stahlstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1325 Mission Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.

PAULINE BIANCHI

Pauline Bianchi, 84, of Jeannette, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born March 7, 1916, in Madison, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Lambert Caviggia. She was a member of the Ascension Church, Jeannette, and its Rosary Altar Society. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent C. Bianchi Sr., in 1975; four brothers , George, Mario, Albert and Anthony Caviggia; and two sisters , Edith Ciampa and Julia Bia. Surviving are three sons , Vincent C. Bianchi Jr. and wife, Suzie, of San Fernando Valley, Calif., Ronald R. Bianchi and wife, Katie, of Sylmar, Calif., and Alan A. Bianchi and girlfriend, Suzie Christofono, of Jeannette; a brother, John Caviggia and wife, Helen, of Derry; three sisters , Mary Frank of Coraopolis, Agnes Filia of California and Georgetta Shuey of Jeannette; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Ascension Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

MARGARET E. CREWE

Margaret E. Crewe, 72, of Long Run Road, Kiski Township RD1, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at 12:55 p.m., after a lingering illness, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Rahlston and Helen Zankel Meyer. She had lived in Kiski Township for the last 40 years; prior to that she lived in Penn Hills and Pittsburgh. Mrs. Crewe was a homemaker; and was a member of Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church in Spring Church, Pa., where she had served as a deacon and was a member of the prayer circle. She was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed playing bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel S. Crewe, in 1985; and brothers , Rahlston Jr., William, and Harry Meyer. Survived by sons , Daryl A. Crewe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Wayne A. Crewe of Kiski Township; a daughter, Linda A. Crewe of Fruita, Colo.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers , Edward Meyer of Warren and James Meyer of Kent; and two sisters , Catherine Frisch of Florida and Patricia Mattes of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 604 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Services from the Boiling Springs Presbyterian Church Thursday, April 20, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. David Salinger officiating. Interment South Bend Cemetery in South Bend Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

VERNA E. WESTON GARDNER

Verna E. "Pat" Weston Gardner, 81, of Pitcairn, on Saturday, April 15, 2000. Wife of the late William F. "Barney" Gardner; mother of Bonnie G. Hillier of North Irwin and the late William R. Gardner; sister of Dorothy Weston of Pitcairn; grandmother of Kimberly Tilley, Pamela Gardner, Steven, Scott, and Douglas Hillier; great-grandmother of Kyle and Dawn Tilley. Friends received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m.

RAYMOND G. HRIBAL

Raymond G. Hribal, 72, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in the Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Rudolph and Louise Goetz Hribal. He was a member of the First Brethren Church of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Snyder Hribal in 1997. He is survived by two brothers , Gilbert and wife, Nancy Hribal, of Latrobe and Roland and wife, Sandy Hribal, of Mt. Pleasant; four sisters , Charlotte Hribal, Mrs. John (Nancy) Srogoncik, Bibiani Hribal, and Mrs. Donald (Laverne) Kuhn, all of Mt. Pleasant; several stepchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the LUTHER J. GRIMM FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held in the funeral home Monday at 9 p.m. with the Rev. David E. Morrison as officiant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 400 Penn Center Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15221.
