RUTH E. CASTIN

Ruth E. Castin, 74, of Dubois Street, Scottdale, passed away Monday evening, April 17, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Family and friends received Wednesday at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300/email: rferg<\at>a1usa.net). Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. James P. Cordell, officiating. Chapel committal services and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Bullskin Township. The family suggests memorials to: First Baptist Church, Chestnut and Loucks, Scottdale, PA 15683, in memory of Ruth E. Castin.

DORIS MAE GAULT

Doris Mae "Dot" Gault, 77, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in the Oak Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Ebensburg, a daughter of the late George and Maude Woleslagle Sager. She was a member of the Alliance Church of Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters . She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Gault; two sons , the Rev. Robert W. Gault II and his wife, Lois, of Woodbridge, Va., and Kenneth Gault and his wife, Ruth, of Jacksonville, Fla.; four daughters , Gwennyth Mains of Burlington, N.C., Mariann Gault of Jeannette, Beverly Gault and her husband, Paul Hubbard, of Glen Burnie, Md., and Renee Jones and her husband, Harry, of Scottdale; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers , Glenn Sager and his wife, Ruth, of Ligonier and Robert Sager of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sisters , Velma Miller and her husband, George, of Latrobe and Chelsea Rogers and her husband, Elbert, of Tucson, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. D. Roy Dail officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Township.

MARY L. CUCCHI LUSEBRINK

Mary L. Cucchi Lusebrink, 72, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Hempfield Township. She was born May 6, 1927, in Hahntown, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Govannia (Fabrizio) Cucchi. She was a buyer at G.C. Murphy Co. and was a member of St. Agnes Church. Survived by her husband, Ernest R. Lusebrink; a son, Keith Lusebrink of Houston, Texas ; a brother, Joseph Cucchi of Manor; two sisters , Donna Kovac of North Huntingdon and Nancy Popovich of Hahntown; and a granddaughter, Haley Lusebrink of Forest Hills. Friends received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Blessing service Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment Irwin Union Cemetery.

LEONARD OSLOSKY

Leonard Oslosky, 73, of Greensburg RD4 (Trees Mills), formerly of Export, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Export, a son of the late John and Rose (Kudray) Oslosky. Leonard was a glass cutter for the former Armcor of Delmont, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Export. He is survived by a daughter, Sandy Hainan and husband, Mark, of Export; five brothers ; five sisters ; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service for Leonard will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Dismas Young of St. Mary's Church as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge of arrangements.

MELANIE A. POLIVKA

Melanie A. Polivka, 45, of Bridgeville, formerly of West Newton, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Aug. 23, 1954, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Pauline Schaeffer Polivka of Pleasant Hills and the late Walter Polivka. She was employed as a pharmacy technician for 20 years at St. Clair Hospital. She was a member of the West Newton United Presbyterian Church and a member of the church choir. In addition to her mother , she is survived by a brother, Phillip Polivka and wife, Joanne, of Carmel, Ind.; and two nephews, Stephen and Jonathan Polivka. Friends will be received at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the West Newton United Presbyterian Church Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William A. Sukolsky officiating. Interment West Newton Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the West Newton United Presbyterian Church Choir Fund.

MARY B. SURNIAK

Mary B. Surniak, 75, of Scottdale, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born May 21, 1924, in Everson, a daughter of the late Anthony and Angeline Jadwiszak Surniak. Mary was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson. She was a retired employee of the former Robertshaw Controls, Youngwood, with 35 years of service. Mary leaves to cherish her memories the following brother and sisters : Theresa E. Koza and her husband, Casimir, of Scottdale, Edward J. Surniak of Everson and Jane D. Surniak of Everson; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers , John A. Surniak, who died Jan. 26, 1998, and Joseph A. Surniak, who died Oct. 12, 1993; and two sisters , Stephanie Shutty, who died Jan. 27, 1976, and Josephine Scanlon, who died in July of 1975. Mary's family received friends Wednesday in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. A blessing service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph R.C. Parish Cemetery, Everson. Due to Holy Week observance, Mary's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 24, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson.

THOMAS ACKLIN

Thomas Acklin, 83, of Latrobe, formerly of Aliquippa, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1916, in Marianna, Pa., he was a son of the late John L. and Margaret Melvin Acklin. A resident of Latrobe for eight years, he was a member of St. John's in Latrobe and a former member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, where he was a council member. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by J&L Steel, Blooming Mill, for 40 years. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant, and was a member of the VFW. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris L. Hallisey Acklin; his second wife, Dorothy Lowery Acklin; and a daughter, Doris A. Miller. He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, the Very Rev. Thomas Acklin of St. Vincent in Latrobe, John L. Acklin of Templeton, Pa., and Dr. Joseph D. and Nancy Acklin of Kittanning; two daughters and sons -in-law, Gail and Mark Lillie of Erie and Karen M. and John Yancey of York, S.C.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother and his wife, James F. and Gloria Acklin of Pittsburgh; and a sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Robert Cleary of Aliquippa. Friends will be received Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a blessing service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Very Rev. Thomas Acklin officiating. Interment in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Vincent Seminary, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.

HELEN V. BALDESSARI

Helen V. Baldessari, 76, of Greensburg, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in the Integrated Health Services of Greater Pittsburgh in Greensburg. She was born May 16, 1923, in Pleasant Unity, a daughter of the late John and Anna Caputa Bohatch. She was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, and its Rosary Altar Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Baldessari, on April 21, 1987; and three brothers , John, Andrew, and Stephen Bohatch. She is survived by a son, James J. Baldessari, and two daughters , Mrs. Dennis (Mary Ann) Herron and Mrs. Stanley (Carol) Krysevig, all of Greensburg; two grandsons, Steven Krysevig and Joseph Herron, both of Greensburg; a brother, Paul Bohatch of Calumet; three sisters , Mary Kujawa of Greensburg, Catherine Nalevanko of South Greensburg, and Anna Rysz of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. (No visitation Easter Sunday.) A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1 p.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, with the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The Rosary Altar Society will meet at the funeral home Saturday at 3 p.m. to pray the rosary.

JOSEPH FERYOK

Joseph Feryok, 84, of Monessen, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in the Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township. He was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Monessen, a son of the late Michael and Susan (Kopach) Feryok. Mr. Feryok was a lifelong resident of Monessen, and a 1933 graduate of Monessen High School. In 1933, he began playing the trumpet and trombone professionally, touring in the south with "Husk O'Hare and his Genial Gentlemen of the Air." He went on to play in stage shows with the "Harrison Kimball Cavalcade of Stars." He later played with the "Frankie Barr Orchestra" and the "Jack Brown Orchestra" at the former Twin Coaches. Mr. Feryok was an avid gardener, and a successful grower of orchids. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen. He was also a member of the Monessen Elks 773 and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Orchid Society. He retired in 1982 from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, having worked in the Blooming Mill. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific with the 35th Infantry Band. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Regina (Sinchak) Feryok; three sons , J. Allen Feryok of Monessen, Richard "Rick" Feryok of Youngwood and Jeffrey Feryok of Greensburg; two brothers , Charles Feryok of Hopewell, N.J., and John Feryok of Trenton, Mich.; and a sister, Pauline Kosko of East McKeesport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers , Anthony, Frank and Steve Feryok; and a sister, Helen Rhodes. A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 3 in the Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church in Monessen. Burial was in the Holy Name Cemetery in Monessen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monessen Public Library, 326 Donner Ave., Monessen, PA 15062. Arrangements by DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Monessen.

JOANN FLYNN

Joann Flynn, 64, of Hannastown, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at her home. She was born March 28, 1936, in Conlen, Texas , a daughter of the late William and Helen Albright Newhouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Flynn; and a brother, Willard Newhouse. She is survived by her companion, Richard D. Grindle of Hannastown; a daughter, Patricia J. Pershing of Crabtree; two sons , Thomas E. Flynn and Errol D. Flynn, both at home; two grandchildren, Lucas C. Pershing and Crystal R. Pershing, both of Crabtree; two brothers , Donald Newhouse of Youngwood and William Newhouse of Greensburg; two sisters , Marjorie Baker and Hazel Lambert, both of Hope, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the time of service in the funeral home with the Rev. William A. Waugh officiating. Private entombment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hempfield Township.

LARRY E. GIBLER

Larry E. Gibler, 63, of Delmont, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born July 9, 1936, in Defiance, Ohio, a son of the late Richard and Mary (Ice) Gibler. Larry was a retail marketer for Gulf Oil. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Wilma (Hunt) Gibler; a daughter, Pam A. Sterner and husband, Edward, of Ruffsdale; three sons , Allen E. Gibler of Indiana, Pa., Jeff L. Gibler of Texas , and Michael S. Gibler and wife, Amy, of Smithton, Pa.; a brother, John R. Gibler and wife, Kathy, of Ohio; a niece and a nephew. In addition, Larry was the loving grandfather of eight grandchildren. Relatives and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. at Twin Valley, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, PA 15626, (724) 468-1177, Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. A blessing service will follow immediately in the funeral home with the Rev. MARY (TERSCAK) HUDAK

Mary (Terscak) Hudak, on Wednesday, April 19, 2000, in Winston-Salem, N.C., formerly of Lawrenceville. Mrs. Hudak was a homemaker. She was the beloved wife of the late John Hudak; mother of Mary Ann Hudak, Kathy Hudak Golobic, and John J. Hudak; mother -in-law of Patricia L. Hudak; grandmother of Nicole Hudak Camarota, Dr. Sandra Lynne Hudak, Robin Speas, Michele Golobic. Friends received at the FRANK R. Elizabeth T. "Betty" Knake, 91, of Dormont, on Wednesday, April 19, 2000. Wife of the late Walter P. Knake Sr. mother of Mary Ann Pavlic, Carole Cortes, Dorothy Magallon, Dr. Walter P. Knake Jr., Pegi Wright, Kathleen Harrison, James Knake, Beth Knake and the late Jack Knake. Sister of Mary Alice Weidner. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
