Kristen Gardner - Washington, Maine
Kristen (LaVange) Gardner, 45, of Washington passed away on Jan. 4, 2011, as a result of an automobile accident.

Kristen was born in Whitinsville, Mass., on March 19, 1965, the daughter of Donald LaVange and Barbara Louise Hanson, and grew up in Uxbridge, Mass. She graduated from Toll Gate High School in Warwick, R.I., and attended BYU and the Community College of Rhode Island. She married David Gardner on July 4, 1986, and worked as a waitress at Brook Manor in North Attleboro, Mass., and owned and operated the SunRise Inn on Mendon Road in Cumberland, R.I., as well as The Good Life Restaurant, Wickenden Street, in Providence, R.I. She moved to Maine in the late 1980s and continued her work in the food business. She and her husband were well known from working many local fairs, selling falafel and gyros.

She had a lifelong desire to find a daughter that she gave up for adoption. She loved the beauty of the Camden Hills, mountains and the water. She was a lover of babies, fine food and wines, Bob Dylan and Neil Young music, and her family said she was the “world’s greatest mother.”

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, David Gardner of Washington, Maine; her daughter, Ivy Louise Gardner, a student at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa; her sons, Donald Wesley Gardner of Eustis, Maine, Cameron LaVange Gardner of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dylan Ram Gardner of Salt Lake City, Utah; her stepson, Ian Douglas Gardner of Cumberland, R.I.; her mother, Barbara DiLiddo of Skowhegan, Maine; her father, Donald H. LaVange and her stepmother, Pauline LaVange of Cumberland, R.I.; her brother, Donald H. LaVange Jr. of Pleasant Grove, Utah; her sisters, Kathleen Susan Randall of North Attleboro, Mass., Nancy Jane Beaman of Crestwood, Ky., and Brenda Lynn LaVange-Stewart of St. Joseph, Mich.; stepsister, Lorraine Barr of New Hampshire, stepbrother, Michael Duso of New Hampshire, stepsister, Sharon Duso of Utah, stepsister, Joan Savage of Rhode Island, stepsister, Diane Whipple, Ph.D of Rhode Island, stepsister, Susan Meade, R.N. of Massachusetts and stepsister, Debra “Debbydoo” Duso of Rhode Island.

A celebration of Kristen’s life was held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, Maine, with the family leading the service. Another Celebration of her life will be held at The LDS Chapel at 76 Main Street, Foxborough, MA 02035-1847 (508) 543-7276 on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at 4 p.m. “We have set up a paypal account for people who wish to donate in lieu of flowers to the Kristen LaVange Gardner Memorial Fund. Laurie A. Turner - Lincoln
Laurie A. Turner, 41, of Old River Road, Lincoln, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Providence and raised in Lincoln, Laurie was the daughter of Robert and Carol Turner of Lincoln. Besides her parents she leaves her sons, Alex S. and Jacob R. Popovich; her brothers, Robert Turner Jr. and his wife Robin and Ronald Turner and his wife Collette, all of Lincoln; her sister, Janice Turner and her partner Regina Ramirez, of Bradenton, Fla.; her nieces and nephews, Andrea, Jerilyn and Craig Turner, Nicholas Lamoreaux and Nathan and Lea Jendza; as well as many family members and friends. Laurie was a well-known floral designer in the Blackstone Valley area.

Her funeral was held Monday June 14, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude’s Church, Front Street, Lincoln, with her burial following at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Donations in Laurie's memory may be made to the Laurie Turner Fund, 19 Great Meadows Lane, Lincoln, RI, 02865 on behalf of her sons, Alex and Jacob. Arrangements were made by the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket.

Lucille C. Boulay - Woonsocket
Lucille C. Boulay, 95, a resident of St. Antoine Residence, formerly of East School Street, Woonsocket, died Wednesday, June 16 at Landmark Medical Center.

She was the wife of the late Mathieu Boulay. Mrs. Boulay was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Eugene and Emma (Tessier) Baillargeon. She was a textile worker for many years and had worked for the French Worsted Co. and French Tex retiring in 1978. She was a former member of the St. Louis and St. Joseph senior citizens clubs, the Royal Travelers and the St. Germaine Manor Club.

Mrs. Boulay leaves a son, Guy Boulay and his wife Annette of South Yarmouth, Mass.; three grandchildren, Monique Fleurant of Cumberland, Marc Boulay of Towson, Md., and Christine Boulay of Providence; and four great grandchildren. She also was the sister of the late Lucien, Laurent, Alphonse and Maurice Baillargeon, Gabrielle Rondeau, MaryAnn Sarazin and Elodie Baillargeon.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Antoine Residence Chapel, 10 Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield, RI. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Antoine, 10 Rhodes Ave. North Smithfield, RI 02896 in her memory would be appreciated.

Mary Iafrate - Smithfield
Mary (Piti) Iafrate, 76, of Arthur Street, Greenville, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

She was the loving wife of the late Renato “Ray” Iafrate. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Vittoria (Ferlazzo) Piti. She had lived in Greenville for 50 years. She had worked with the Smithfield School Department as an administrative aide and was responsible for arranging substitute teachers for Smithfield schools. Mary also had volunteered at St. Philip Church in many capacities. Mary regularly attended social meetings with the 306th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force.

She leaves her children, Robert Iafrate and Diane Iafrate, both of Greenville; her grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Iafrate, Rachel Shemenski and Sara Iafrate; her great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Anthony and Joe; and her siblings, Joseph and Nicholas Piti both of Greenville, Josephine Chiodine of Johnston, Carmela Factor of North Kingston and Anna Sundrom of Coventry. She was the sister of the late Henry Piti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation is private. Nella M. Clifford - North Smithfield

Nella M. Clifford, 97, of Iron Mine Hill Rd., North Smithfield, died peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2010 in the comfort of her home. Her beloved husband John C. Clifford predeceased her. They had been married for 65 years at the time of John’s death in 2006.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John Manolas and Nella (Shayne) Manolas. She was a resident of North Smithfield and made her home on Iron Mine Hill Road for 69 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church and had been a member of the Ladies Sodality for many years.

Nella met Johnny on a trip to Boston to visit friends. They married shortly after on June 23, 1941. They raised a family together and, following Johnny’s retirement, operated a small New England farm – “Clifford’s Farm.” Nella valued the family she and John created more than anything else in life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always put the happiness and needs of her family before her own. She maintained almost daily contact with her children and grandchildren.

Nella leaves her four children: Catherine Russell, of North Smithfield; John B. Clifford, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Joseph C. Clifford, of Jamestown; and Michael Clifford, of North Smithfield. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Maureen C. DeCelles and the late Patricia C. Clifford; her sister, Margaret Manolas, also predeceased her.

Funeral services, under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Charles Cemetery on Farm Street in Blackstone, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to your favorite charity in her memory would be appreciated.

Noel A. Lapierre - Burrillville
Noel A. Lapierre, 87, of Douglas Pike died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at home.

Devoted father and husband, loved by all who knew him, he was married 62 years to the late Aurore M. (Plouffe) Lapierre who recently passed on April 26. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Philemon and Anna (Lefebvre) Lapierre.

Mr. Lapierre worked for more than 20 as a truck driver for the former Nelson's Freightways and Laramee Trucking, both in Woonsocket. He also worked for 12 years as a burner/grinder for Electric Boat, retiring in 1987. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the American Legion and the Teamsters.

He leaves four children, Leo Lapierre and his wife, Simonne of North Smithfield and Jacqueline Dionne and her husband Richard, Victoria Tootell and her husband Donald and Edward Lapierre and his wife Sandra, all of Burrillville; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Eugene, Roland, Robert, Normand and Edward Lapierre.

His funeral will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 9:45 a.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church, Dion Street, Nasonville. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or to VNS of Greater RI, Hospice Program, 6 Blackstone Valley Place, Suite 515, Lincoln, RI 02865.

Norma DeCurtis - Smithfield
Norma DeCurtis, 83, of Deer Run Trail, died Wednesday, Dec. 22 in Miriam Hospital, Providence.

She was the wife of the late Robert A. DeCurtis, Sr. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Albert and Sarah (Cambio) Izzo. She had lived in Smithfield since 1957 previously living in Johnston. She leaves her children, Joanne DeCurtis of Johnston, Robert A. DeCurtis, Jr. and his wife, Lynn of Warwick and Steven D. DeCurtis and his wife, Paula of Smithfield, 5 grandchildren and two brothers, Alfred Izzo of Providnece, and Edmond Izzo of Johnston. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at Noon in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the R.I. Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to R.I. Veterans Medical Center, Patient Activity Fund, 830 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, RI 02903.

Norman F. Stead - Smithfield
Norman F. Stead, 67, of North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Smithfield and Glocester, died March 22, 2010.

He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Berrigan) Stead and the son of the late Harold R. and M. Eveline (Browne) Stead. Besides his wife he leaves his sister, Marion Mulcahey and her husband John of North Fort Myers; three stepchildren, John Dwyer of Johnston, Michelle Dwyer of North Providence and Kerry Dwyer of Johnston; three step-grandchildren, April, Jesse and Nick Bucci of Johnston; his niece, Linda Lynch and her husband Craig of Smithfield; and five grandnieces and grandnephews, Richard, Sean, Kayla, Kyle and Nick Lynch, all of Smithfield.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by burial with military honors in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greystone PM Church, c/o Mary Leath, 14 Blueberry Lane, Johnston, RI 02919 or to Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 54 Cedar Swamp Road, Smithfield, RI 02917.

Richard H. Buckley - Johnston
Richard H. Buckley, 69, of Sanderson Road, Johnston, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Hospice Inpatient Center.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Konopka) Buckley; they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary May 12. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Gladys M. (Whitehead) Buckley. He had been a lifelong resident of Johnston. He was plater for Induplate Inc. for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association.

Besides his wife he leaves his children, Richard Buckley Jr. and his wife Dana and Kristen Narducci and her husband Tom; three grandsons and a granddaughter; and his siblings, Ronal, William and James E. Buckley and Patricia Hjerpe. He was the brother of the late Thomas, John and Gerald Buckley.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at a time to be announced. Visitation is Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.

Robert C. McCabe - Springfield, Mass.
Robert C. McCabe, 84, of Springfield, Mass., died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Mary's Meadow at Providence Place in Holyoke, Mass.

He was the husband of Genevieve (Myslek) McCabe. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth McCabe. He was raised in Worcester and Springfield, Mass. Mr. McCabe served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his service, he attended the Goff School of Business and received a degree from the University of Massachusetts. He was employed at the Lestoil Corporation and the Springfield School Department before retiring.

In addition to his wife he leaves a daughter, Linda Ahaladas of Highland, N.Y.; and two sons, Kevin McCabe of Mason, N.H., and Bruce McCabe of Lincoln. He also leaves five grandchildren and his sister, Mary Harby of Westfield, Mass.

Services and burial are private.

Robert L. Macchiarola - Cumberland
Robert L. Macchiarola, 50, of Park View Trail passed away Wednesday, May 5 at the Home and Hospice Care Inpatient Unit in Providence.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Elena (Niro) Macchiarola. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life. Mr. Macchiarola was a machinist employed by Plansee USA, LLC, of Franklin, Mass., for the past several years.

He leaves three sisters, Josephine Sampson of Cumberland, Mary Nicholson of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Katherine Macchiarola of Franklin, Mass.; and two brothers, Anthony Macchiarola of Rocky Hill and Louis Macchiarola of Cumberland. He also leaves three nephews, Christopher Sampson, Michael Sampson and Nathaniel Nicholson, his godson; and two nieces, Rachel Macchiarola and Julia Macchiarola.

A celebration of his life will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1185 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
