Robert "Bob" Steele
September 12, 2009

Robert "Bob" Steele, 78, of 75 East Ave., and formerly of Hamlet St., both in Pawtucket, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.

Born in London, England he was the son of the late Edward & Rose (Davies) Steele. As a young man, he served in the Queens Royal Army.

Mr. Steele was a salesman for Archway Cookies for 18 years, Pepperidge Farm for 12 years and retired from S&M Distributors at the age of 75.

Bob was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with his twin grandsons, Aidan and Caleb Steele. He was a devoted father to son Shayne R. Steele and husband to wife Kristen of Seekonk, MA. He was uncle to Suzanne Rigley, Barbara Austin, David Cudak and Christine Hughes and brother to the late James Steele, Olive Cudak and Eileen Taveira.

Arrangements are entrusted to Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, where family will receive friends Wednesday 5-8pm. Funeral Thursday at 11am in the funeral home. Burial will be private, at the request of the family.

Lenora Johnson
September 11, 2009

Lenora Johnson, 82, of Gill St, passed Friday.

Born in Rehoboth, MA, she was the daughter of the late Nascimento and Inocencia Silvia.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Johnson of Central Falls. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1pm in the Chapel of Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Arrangements are by the Keefe Funeral Home, Lincoln

Evelyn Shakel
September 8, 2009

Evelyn Shakel, 86, of Batcheller Ave, passed Tuesday with her loving family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late George Shakel.

She had been employed as a seamstress for area dress shops for many years.

She is survived by a son, Louis Shakel of California, two daughters, Mary Cunningham and her husband Raymond of Lincoln and Janice Minor of Ct., a sister, Madeline Gatta of California, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence at 10am. Relative’s and friends invited, calling hours Thursday 6-8pm.In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Philip Hulitar Center, 1085 North Main St, Providence, 02904.

Robert "Bob" Marty
September 8, 2009

Robert "Bob" Marty, 73, of Ames St, passed Tuesday at the Hospice Inpatient Center. He was the husband of Claire L. (Rattie) Marty. They have been married for 36 years.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Fredrick and Agnes (Polion) Marty.

He had been employed by Colfax Inc. for many years and was a member of the Teamsters local 251. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 43.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Brian F. Marty of Pawtucket, two daughters, Carol L. Cekala of Weston, MA, and Elizabeth A. Raleigh of Cranston. Two sisters, Claire Medeiros of Cumberland and Roberta Presby of Virginia Beach, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Deborah Marty and brother of Raymond Marty.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-8pm from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial with Military Honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the RI Alzheimer’s Association.

Richard Kilburn
September 7, 2009

Richard Kilburn, 52, “Ricky” tragically passed Monday in Providence.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of David Kilburn of Florida and the late Martha Sue (Marques) Kilburn.

Richard was employed as a truck driver for several years; he then worked for Electric Boat of CT and was also employed as a painter until presently.

He is survived by two daughters, Lynn Melillo Johnson and Stephanie Kilburn, a son Michael Kilburn, all of North Providence. A brother, Tony Kilburn of North Providence, two sisters, Tracy Osterhout of North Carolina and his twin sister, Cindy Kilburn of Pawtucket, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Barbara Jean “Sami” Kilburn.

Services will be held TODAY at Noon in the Redwood Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence.

Annie Lee Nance
September 5, 2009

Annie Lee Nance, On September 5, 2009, God came and brought her home to rest at peace with her mother, father and loving sister. Annie Lee Colvin- Walker-Nance, 88, Of 50 Prairie Avenue, died quietly surrounded by her loving family.

Annie Lee was born in York, South Carolina, the daughter of Mozel Colvin and Charles Walker. She moved From Anderson South Carolina to Rhode Island in 1951 and has been a lifelong resident of Providence, RI.

Annie was the oldest living member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church on Ashmont Street In Providence, RI. She was also a member of the Salivation Army Church, on Broad Street In Providence for over 25 Years.

Annie was a day care mother for over 50 years, and she also opened her home and heart to a host of women and their children during that time.

Annie was the loving mother of four daughters; RuthAnn Nance, Thelma Fancher, Constance Nance & Patricia Nance all of Providence RI. Four sons; James Walker of East Providence, RI, Thomas Nance of South Korea, Robert Nance of Providence, and Ronald Nance of Worcester, Ma, and a stepson James Madison Jr. of West Warwick, RI.

Annie was also proud of her fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Arma Lee Powell. Aunt to Annette and Clinton Williams of Kentucky, and the Great-Aunt to seven more nieces and nephews

She is also survived by many relatives and friends that love her deeply.

Annie was always thinking of others and held her family first in her heart. The children were always her priority. She will be dearly missed buy all.

A service will be held Wednesday at noon in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Relatives and friends invited, calling hours will begin at 11am.

Donald P. Twohig
August 30, 2009

Donald P. Twohig, 63, of Kendall St, passed Sunday with his family by his side.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Henry L. and Helen (Kelly) Twohig.

He had been employed by Blackstone Valley Electric for 16 years and then worked as a private contractor. He also was employed at the Pawtucket Boys club. Don was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Sam’s Card Club and was an avid softball player.

His is survived by a daughter, Kerri Twohig of Arizona, a son, Donald D. Twohig and his wife Nancy C. Twohig of Cumberland with whom he resided, Two sisters, Helen Day and her husband Jim and Maureen Ahern and her husband David Hanson all of Pawtucket, a brother, Mike and his wife Marian Twohig of Rumford,

Three grandchildren, Corey Baker, Brian Wilson and Emily Twohig and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Henry “Francis” Twohig, and David L. Twohig.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, Burial with Military Honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, relatives and friends invited, Calling hours Tuesday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket, 1 Moeller Place, Pawtucket RI 02860.

Marie M. McCaffrey
August 28, 2009

Marie M. McCaffrey, 89, of 250 Rand St, passed Friday at the Pawtucket Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Andrew and Alice (Kelly) McCaffrey.

Marie is survived by two nieces, Marie Fraioli, and Florence Boyer, two nephews, Richard and James McCaffrey and several great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Andrew and Robert McCaffrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30am in St. Matthew Church, Dexter St, Central Falls. Burial will be in Mt St Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
