William F. Tinkham
December 27, 2011

PAWTUCKET - William F. Tinkham, 54, of Pawtucket died December 26, 2011. He was the longtime companion of Joyce Audette.
Mr. Tinkham was born in Central Falls, the son of the late John J. Tinkham Jr. and Margaret (Lalime) Tinkham.
Besides his companion Mr. Tinkham leaves a son, William F. Tinkham Jr. He is also survived by his sister Gail Laroche, and his brothers James Tinkham, Robert Tinkham, and Edward Tinkham. He was the brother of the late John J. Tinkham III.

Irene T. Fagnant
December 27, 2011

S. ATTLEBORO - Irene T. Fagnant, 73 died on Monday in Attleboro, with her family by her side. She was the wife of Richard R. Fagnant and the daughter of the late Georges and Dorilla (Viau) Ledoux. She was a communicant of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in S. Attleboro, where she had been a resident since 1968.
Prior to retirement in 2000, she had been a receptionist at the Woodlawn Credit Union in Pawtucket for twenty-five years. She was a member of the United Food & Clerical Workers Union, liked to do ceramics and to play the piano and especially to visit with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of Attleboro, she is survived by three daughters: Debra Paul of Cumberland, Lorene McCaffrey of Napa, CA and Donna Jankowski of Seeekonk and six grandchildren: Matthew and Alyssa Paul, Julie and Kailey McCaffrey and Emily and Nicolas Jankowski; two sisters: Doris Proulx of Bristol and Jeanne Allard of Woonsocket; three brothers: George Ledoux of Millville, Normand Ledoux of Lincoln and Charles Ledoux of Florida.
The funeral service will be held on Friday (Dec. 30th) at 10:00 AM in the DARLINGTON MORTUARY OF L. HEROUX & SON, 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI Visitation on Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to APDA, P.O. Box 41659, Providence, RI 02940 would be appreciated.

Annette Lavergne

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Annette (Sirois) Lavergne, 86, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Monday, December 26, 2011. She was the wife of the late Armand D. Lavergne.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary Jane (St. Pierre) Sirois. Mrs. Lavergne lived most of her life in Pawtucket before moving to Cumberland in 2002 and then North Smithfield in 2008.
She is survived by two daughters, Valerie Del Padre and Celeste Hemond both of Cumberland, a brother, Robert Sirois of Pawtucket, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Anna, Ernest, Henry, George, Albert, Armand, and Eugene Sirois.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:30AM in the O'NEILL Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in the Chapel of Saint Antoine's, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield. Burial will be in RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8pm in the funeral home.

Charles C. Burns
December 27, 2011

SOUTH ATTLEBORO - Charles C. Burns of Allen Ave. passed away peacefully Monday, December, 26, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI surrounded by his loving family. He died at the age of 70 after being stricken by an unexpected illness.
Charles was a beloved father, grandfather and friend to many. He is survived by his three sons, Robert (Bobby) Burns of North Attleboro, MA and his children Arrianna, Brannon and Sabrina; Richard Burns and his wife of North Attleboro, MA and their children Kaden and Ashlyn; Ronald Burns and his wife Heather of North Attleboro, MA and their children Nathan and Rachel; his daughter Renee and her children Kyle and Mallory and her fiance Steve Burgen of Chicopee, MA and his children Ariana and Justin; and his former wife, Jeannette (Riccard) Burns of Cumberland, RI.
Born February 5, 1941 in Pawtucket, RI and raised and educated in South Attleboro, MA he was the son of the late James Burns and Maria (Salois) Miles. He is also survived by two brothers; James Burns of Warwick, RI and William Miles of Seekonk, MA; a sister Dolores Racine of Seekonk, MA and the late Robert E. Burns; in addition to many nieces, nephews and friends.
He worked at the Foxboro Company for over 25 years and later ran his own business "Classic Cleanups" - doing what he loved best landscaping and lawn care. He was devoted to his children, coaching their baseball teams when they were young and he could often be heard on the sidelines of many games cheering his kids on "First Down a Touchdown" - he was their biggest fan. His devotion continued with his grandchildren whom he loved very much and enjoyed spending time with.
Affectionately known by many nicknames Chuck, Chicky, Singing Charlie, Dancing Charlie, "Rock-n-Roll" Charlie - Charles was full of life. Whether it was singing karaoke, or dancing at weddings or to the music at the annual Kid's Day event, Charles was liked by all who met him and leaves behind many lasting memories.
Visiting hours will held on Thursday, December 29, from 4-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, December 30 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Attleboro.

Albert H. Romboni
December 30, 2011

MYSTIC, CT - Albert Henry Romboni, age 85, of Mystic CT, passed away on December 23rd.
Born January 10, 1926 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of Angelo and Fernanda(Giambastiani) Romboni. He graduated from Pawtucket East High School in 1944.
He was a member of the Pawtucket Boys Club Harmonica Band and was an accomplished harmonica player who performed in venues all over the Northeast for his entire life.
He served in the Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii during World War II as an airplane mechanic and inspector.
A graduate of the university of Rhode Island in 1951 with a degree in mechanical engineering, he worked at Narragansett Wire Co. in Pawtucket from 1951-1955.
From 1958 to 1989 he was with Electric Boat in Groton. He was a Supervisor of the Strain Gauge Analysis and Installation Group in the Test Instrumentation Engineering Department (412 and 460). His function was to set up, perform, and evaluate data of dockside and sea trial testing. He attended NAVSEA conferences and was respected and considered an expert in his field.
Active in the Mystic Community Center, he served as treasurer and president of the Centers Board.
He was also a member of the Dante Alighieri Society of New London where he served as president and music director of the choral group Coro Gioioso.
In 1991, he was certified as a Connecticut Master Gardener. He was a telephone gardening helper at the Norwich office. He shared his love of gardening with programs at Camp Harkness, where he was instrumental in designing and erecting the greenhouse and water garden. He taught gardening skills to the prisoners at the Department of Corrections, Montville CT Facility. Known for his bountiful Italian garden, he enjoyed sharing his crops.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton and was involved in church activities as a Eucharistic Minister and Confirmation teacher.
Albert was a devoted New York Yankees fan and a fan of the UConn Women's Basketball team. He was a "people person" who enjoyed being with his family and friends. He will also be remembered for his love of animals.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Kacan) and family in California and Italy.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday. Burial Services will be in Mount St. Mary Cemetery Chapel, Pawtucket RI on Tuesday at 12noon. Relatives and friends are invited. Donations be made to Alzheimer's, 225 North Michigan Ave., Chicago ILL 60601 or St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church.

Marie Pontbriand

WOONSOCKET - Marie "Rose" Pontbriand, 88, of Woonsocket, formerly of Central Falls, died Tuesday at Oakland Grove Health Center. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Pontbriand and the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Hamel) Rousseau.
She was employed as a weaver for Faustina Manufacturing Co. prior to her retirement.
She had been a member of the Women’s Auxillary of the Eugene T. Lefebvre VFW Post #1271.
She is survived by her son Richard J. Pontbriand and his wife Diane of Tampa, FL, granddaughters Jennifer A. Songer and Kerri A. Biele, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Harvey, Albert, Rita and Blanche Rousseau, and Marguerite Marcotte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 am at Holy Spirit Parish (St. Matthew Church), 1030 Dexter St., Central Falls.
Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave.,Lincoln.

Michael Pappas
December 29, 2011

CUMBERLAND-Michael Pappas, 86, of Mendon Road died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital, New Bedford, MA. He was the beloved husband of Enid (Burgess) Pappas. Mr. and Mrs. Pappas were married for 62 years.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Andrew and Paraskeve (Veras) Papadopoulos, he had lived in Pawtucket for most of his life before moving to Cumberland 2 years ago.
Mr. Pappas was the executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket where he worked for 40 years before retiring in 1990. He was a National Executive of the Year for the Boys & Girls Club. The Boys & Girls Club Complex on Moeller Place in Pawtucket is named in his honor.
He was a longtime member of Pawtucket Country Club and a member of the former To Kalon Club. He was a member of the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame (1991) and a member of the Pawtucket Hall of Fame.
He was the announcer for the Triple AAA Pawtucket Red Sox.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Hellenic Post #91, American Legion, Pawtucket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Pamela Doheny and her husband, Frank of Cumberland and Gregg Pappas and his wife, Christine of McKinney, TX; three sisters, Georgia Moretti and Vernie Pappas, both of Pawtucket and Stasia DeLuca of North Providence; one brother, Nicholas Pappas of Coventry; five grandchildren, Conor, Julia and Leah Pappas, and Kara Ronayne and Jenna Sier; three great grandchildren, Lola, Maddox and Gia Ronayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William, Theodore and Alexander Pappas.
Relatives and friends may call at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln TODAY 4-8 P.M.
His funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike's memory to the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, 1 Moeller Place, Pawtucket, RI 02860 would be appreciated.

Gregg M. Mowry
December 28, 2011

CENTRAL FALLS - Gregg M. Mowry, 35, passed unexpectedly on December 28th.
He was the son of Elizabeth Mowry Dube and stepson of David M. Dube of Pawtucket.
He had been employed as a truck driver for Bud Van Lines for several years.
Besides his parents he is survived by two sons, Shane P. Mowry and Alex M. Mowry. He also leaves his grandparents Ernest and Carol Mowry and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be private.

Clarinda A. Walsh

CUMBERLAND - Clarinda A. (Chaput) Walsh, 105, of Mendon Rd. died Tuesday at home. She was the beloved wife for 65 years of the late Thomas F. Walsh Jr.
Born in Suncook, NH she was the daughter of the late Delvini and Marie L. (Veilleux) Chaput. She had resided in Cumberland since 1942 previously living in West Warwick.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church and a founding member of the St. Patrick Mothers Club. She was also a charter member of the former St. Thomas Knights of Columbus, Womens Guild, Cumberland.
She leaves two daughters, Lois M. Schillinger and her husband Thomas and Lucille D. Walsh, all of Cumberland; one son, Richard T. Walsh of Cumberland; three grandchildren, David M. Schillinger, Jill L. Murphy, and Thomas R. Schillinger; six great-grandchildren, David, Ryan, Evan, Lauren, Chaise, and Zachary, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Delvini Chaput, Laudina Connors, Bertha Peltier, Delvina Fournier, Dora Obuchon, Alfred Chaput, Ambroise Chaput, and Joseph Chaput.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 10 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland.Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday, 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd, East Providence, RI 02914.

Delia P. Lima
December 28, 2011

CUMBERLAND - Delia P. (Rego) Lima 92, of Cumberland, affectionately know as Dee, born in West Warwick, RI to Manuel and Teolinda (Silva) Rego; the eldest of twelve children. She was the loving wife of 66 years to Felix A. Lima.
Dee was a registered nurse, for more than 45 years, beginning her career at Notre Dame Hospital in Central Falls, RI, and later worked as a private nurse for Dr. Upton Savoie.
While continuing her nursing practice, Dee earned her degree in cosmetology. She would practice as a licensed cosmetician for many years, simultaneously with her nursing commitment.
Dee was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church (Cumberland) serving as a CCD teacher for an amazing fifty-three years, teaching many of the children of her earlier students who had reached adulthood. She was also involved in the Parish as a Eucharistic Minister and served as ticket chairperson for numerous church functions and affectionately dubbed the ticket sale queen of Cumberland.
Always active in the Blackstone Valley community, Dee was a member of the Cumberland Lions Club; recently receiving the Clubs highest National recognition, the Melvin Jones Award... as a distinction for her humanitarian efforts.
Dee was an avid dancer, and with her husband/partner Felix could really cut a rug as the expression goes. Similarly, she was an accomplished bowler earning a multitude of awards.
Living in Cumberland for her entire married life, Dee established strong ties with the community. Her willingness to volunteer and offer others a helping hand are well documented. She was praised for her constant positive attitude and served as a role model for those who looked at life as a glass half full, rather than half empty.
Dee's love for children and willingness to help those in need, are just part of her legacy. She was very proud of having many friends, and having a husband of 66 years who together demonstrated what can honestly be called a rare and true love story.
It was her love of family (her son Wayne, granddaughter Stacy, and daughter-in-law Sharon) which made Dee really proud and shine.
Besides her husband Felix, Dee is survived by her loving son Wayne, daughter-in-law Sharon, and granddaughter Stacy of Lincoln; four sisters, Amelia Cavaco, Evelyn Andrade, Eileen Medeiros all of West Warwick, and Elizabeth Moniz of Florida; sister-in-laws and brother-in laws, and dozens of nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
A celebration of her life and funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
