TIVERTON - Esther Beatrice (Day) Laverdiere, 89, passed away on November 27, 2011. She was a 1 year resident of Tiverton, and previously a Cumberland resident for 57 years.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Laverdiere; they had been married for 63 years.
Born August 4, 1922 in New Brunswick, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Esther (Kalman) Day. She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 grandson. Services were private.

Stella A. Rarus

ATTLEBORO - Stella A. Rarus 92, of Bacon St. passed away Friday December 2, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Rarus.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Bronislaw and Adolfina (Zamoida) Iwuc. She lived in South Attleboro most of her life.
Before retiring she was employed as a Housekeeper at St. Joseph's Rectory in Central Falls. She was also employed as a Seamstress at the former Health-Tex Mfg. Co.
Stella was a member of the Holy Rosary Society of St. Joseph's Church and a Past President of the Orchard Lake Schools Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Rarus leaves her loving family, 2 daughters Andrea J. Dearborn of Orlando, FL,Donna M. Shervanian of Eliot, ME, 2 sons Walter L. Rarus of South Attleboro and Lawrence J. Rarus of Lincoln. She also leaves 3 brothers, Charles Iwuc of South Attleboro, Rev. Canon Anthony Iwuc of Providence, and Stephen Iwuc of Cumberland, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Lottie Byrnes, Jane Zielinski, Jessie Jendzejec, Edward, Francis and Joseph Iwuc.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday December 7, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High St. Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church 391 High St. Central Falls at 10:00 a.m. CALLING HOURS TUESDAY FROM 4:00 PM TO 7 00 PM. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Dale J. Moore

LINCOLN - Dale J. Moore, 62, of John Street, Lincoln passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 2, 2011.
Mr. Moore was born in Providence the son of the late William J. Moore and Constance H. (Goyette) Moore.
He was a shipper and receiver for the Old Castle Building Envelope Company in Warwick for many years.
Mr. Moore is survived by his brother Michael W. Moore and his wife Ruth Ann of Lincoln. He also leaves his nephews William and Stephen Moore and his niece Alyssa Moore all of Lincoln, as well as his beloved dog Lacey.
The funeral for Mr. Moore will be Friday, December 9, at 9:00 a.m. from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Pine Street, Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. his burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. The calling hours for Mr. Moore will be Thursday 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Warren T. Fortune Jr

PAWTUCKET - Warren T. Fortune Jr, 62, passed December 2nd.
Warren had been employed as a paralegal before retiring due to illness. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving two years each in both the Army and Marine Corp.
He is survived by a son, David A. Fortune of Bristol, a granddaughter, Belle F. Fortune and was the former husband of Norma J. Daviau.
Services will be private.

Leighton W. Cunha
December 2, 2011

PAWTUCKET - Leighton "Lee" W. Cunha, 70, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Carleeta J. (Taylor) Cunha. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John C. and Rita E. (Burns) Cunha.
Lee enjoyed listening to music and taking rides in the car, but most especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family. Besides his wife, he leaves five children, Michael J. Cunha of Attleboro, William L. Cunha, Desiree A. Tootell, Christopher L. Cunha and Ashley E. Lawton all of Pawtucket; two sisters, Georgiana Sweeney in Florida and Joyce Sears of Pawtucket; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Phyllis Eklind.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro, MA. VISITATION Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial gifts to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062 will be appreciated.

Irene J. Marszalkowski

NAPLES, FL - Irene J. Marszalkowski, 80, of Naples, beloved wife of Frank J. Marszalkowski, passed away on November 16, 2011. Formerly of Cumberland, RI, she had been a Naples resident since 1998.
Irene was born in Pawtucket, RI, the daughter of Kazimer and Rozalja Waronowicz.
Irene will be dearly missed by Frank, her devoted husband of 61 years; and her children,Nancy Malloy of Bonita Springs, FL; Joyce O'Brien of Boxford, MA; Frank Marszalkowski, Jr. of Cumberland, RI; and sister Lillian Luchini of Naples.
Irene was predeceased in death by her daughter, Doreen Malloy of Clinton Corners, NY.
She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 17 at 10:00 AM, at St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, RI. Donations in Irene's memory may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whipporwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105

Dorothy M. Clarke
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy M. Clarke (O'Connell), 87, of Thomas Dr., passed away Wednesday in Cortland Place, Smithfield. She was the beloved wife of the late William Clarke.
Born in Pawtucket she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary (McNulty) O'Connell. She resided in Cumberland since 1961. She was a graduate of the former Pawtucket West High School and had also attended the former Bryant and Stratton Business School. At one time Mrs. Clarke had worked at the Pawtucket City Hall and in the former family business, O'Connell's Package Store on East Ave.
She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland, a member of the Erie Society and the Irish Social Club both of Pawtucket.
Mrs. Clarke leaves three sons, Steven M. Clarke of Wakefield, Robert P. and Daniel E. Clarke both of Cumberland. She also leaves five grandchildren, Patrick, Ashley, Daniel, Sean and Molly Clarke. She was the sister of the late Walter F. and Ralph E. O'Connell.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 103 Pine St., Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Theodore A. Lefort

PAWTUCKET - Theodore "Teddy" A. Lefort, formerly of Charlesgate Assisted Living, passed away Sunday after an illness. He was the former husband of Maryalyce (Greene) Lefort.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Arthur and Leah (Isabel) Lefort. He lived most of his life in Pawtucket. He had been employed as an exterminator for New England Pest Control for many years before his illness. Mr. Lefort Served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was a former communicant of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church of Pawtucket and was very committed to his religion. He was an inventor and enjoyed woodworking.
Besides his former wife, he leaves a daughter, Megan Lefort of SC and a son Gregory Lefort of Bristol. He also leaves a sister, Constance Semenick of Central Falls and 2 step-brothers, David and Michael Lefort. His funeral will be held TODAY at 10 am from the Charles Coelho Funeral Home, 151 cross St. Central Falls. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the RI Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Stacey Mary Korta

CONNECTICUT - Stacey Mary (Polefka) Korta, 91, of Buffalo, NY, beloved wife of the late Stephen E. Korta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
She was born May 25, 1920 in Pawtucket, RI, daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary (Piascik) Polefka. She spent most of her life in the Buffalo area and resided in Connecticut the past three years. She devoted her time to her family and her church. Stacey is survived by her son, Stephen E. Korta, II and his wife, Debra of Marlborough, her two grandchildren Elizabeth Mastrogiannis and her husband, Panos, and Peter Korta and his fiance, Rachel, and her two great-grandchildren Alexander and Marianna Mastrogiannis. She is also survived by her sister Eileen Cekala and her husband, Chester, and many nieces and nephews. Stacey was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Stanley Nimiroski and Genevieve and Joseph Starosciak.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 1st from 4 - 7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Additional calling hours, a Mass of Christian Burial, and burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery will take place in Amherst, NY on Saturday, December 3, 2011, with arrangements being made through the Amigone Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stacey's name may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.

Yvonne I. Turenne

CENTRAL FALLS - Yvonne I. Turenne, 92, of Central Falls, died November 4, 2011 at Grandview Center, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late Francis I. Turenne. Born in Attleboro, MA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph N. and Rose (Ducharme) Brodeur.
Mrs. Turenne had been employed as a jewelry worker for Sweet Manufacturing Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1979. She had also been employed by General Finding of Attleboro for 10 years. She had been a member of St. Aidan's Seniors, Central Falls YMCA Seniors and Wilfred Manor Tenants Assn. She is survived by her sisters Exilia Stubler of Attleboro, MA, Lea Gelinas of Portsmouth, NH, Dora Poissant of Attleboro, MA, Rita Brouillette of NC and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Ernest, Edward, and Emile Brodeur, Rose Lillian Rogers, Loretta Belair, and Eva Lyman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Dr., Seekonk, MA. Burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.

Herbert Collins
November 30, 2011

LINCOLN - Herbert Collins, 80, of Lincoln and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. He was the husband of the late Ann "Shirley"(McGrath) Collins. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Herbert and Catherine(Barrett) Collins. Mr. Collins lived most of his life in Pawtucket before moving to Narragansett three years ago. He was a marine veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Collins was a lieutenant of the Pawtucket Police Department retiring in 1984. He also was the former Chief of Security for the RI Traffic Tribunal. He had summered in Cape Cod and Block Island for many years.
He is survived by three children, Pamela Hartnett and her husband Brian, Susan Collins, and Richard Collins and his wife Mikki, his twin sister, Martha McGee and two grandchildren, Meagan and Brendan Collins. He also leaves his two furry grandchildren, MacGuinness and Moxie. He was the brother of the late Raymond and Harry Collins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Service Saturday at 11AM in the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Friday 4-7pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or the American Cancer Society, 400 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI, 02860, would be appreciated.

George T. Fortin, Jr.
November 29, 2011

CUMBERLAND - George T. Fortin, Jr., 82 of Cumberland died Sunday at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. He is the husband of the late Gertrude Forcier. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late George and Alice (Blais) Fortin. George lived in Florida for 30 years prior to moving to Cumberland 4 years ago.
He was a Pharmacist and owner of Forcier's Pharmacy in Pawtucket for 34 years until his retirement in 1969.
George is survived by two sons, Edward Fortin of Smithfield and G. Thomas Fortin, of Lincoln; two daughters, Caryn Boudreau, of Cumberland, with whom he lived, and Cheryl Dumas of Maryland; a brother, W. Norman Fortin of Florida and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Edward Fortin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at St. Maria Goretti Church, Power Road, Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. At the family's request burial will be private. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Arrangements by LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME.
