PAWTUCKET - Alice Coyle-Chagnon, 90, passed October 21, 2011.
She was the wife of the late Harry J. Chagnon.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Henry P. and Christina (McKenna) Coyle. She lived most of her life in Darlington and has also resided in North Carolina and Florida before returning to Pawtucket 6 years ago.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Gregoire of Central Falls, and Christina Lafferty of Pawtucket, a son, Leo Chagnon of Central Falls, a sister, Helen Smith of Tampa, FL, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Harvey J. Chagnon and Rosalie T. Grandchamp, sister of the late Catherine Woods, Thomas Coyle, William Coyle, Joseph Coyle, Rita Peckham and Raymond Coyle.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9am with a service at 10am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 5pm. In lieu flowers memorial gifts may be made to the RI Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886

Francisco Saraiva

Francisco Saraiva
PAWTUCKET - Francisco Saraiva, 87, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at home. He was the beloved husband of Maria L. (Soares) Saraiva for 62 years. Born in Portugal, a son of the late Julio and Gloria (Jesus) Saraiva, he came to the US in 1969 and settled in Cumberland before moving to Pawtucket over 30 years ago. Francisco was employed by Health-Tex, Inc. for many years until retiring. He enjoyed gardening, making homemade wine, and was a member of the Lusitania Club, Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Connie Pereira Saraiva; a son, Eddy Saraiva; three grandchildren, Anabel Pereira, Michael and Blake Saraiva and two great-grand- children all of Pawtucket; two brothers, Joaquim and Edouardo Saraiva; a sister, Irene Saraiva and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anna Santos, Tony and Adelino Saraiva.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 755 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. VISITATION will be Monday 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.

FLORIDA - Ilse Kubiak, 90, of Lake Worth passed away on October 20, 2011 under the care of Hospice of Palm Beach County in Atlantis. She was born and raised in Seekonk, Massachusetts moving to this area in 1985 from Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Ilse was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Lake Worth. where she was a member of the Women of Our Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon J. Kubiak, Sr.
Ilse leaves her 5 children: Paulette Carroll, with whom she resided, Michael S. Kubiak of Boynton Beach, Edmund "Ned" (Mary Ellen) Kubiak, of TN., Leon "Lee" Kubiak of New Hampshire, Paul R. (Susan) Kubiak of Rhode Island, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves 2 sisters; Edna Lyons and Olga Greggerson, several nieces and nephews. DiFruscio, Joseph, 83, of Ferncrest Drive, Riverside, died Friday, December 9, 2005. He was the husband of the late Pasqualina (Mincucci) DiFruscio. A lifelong resident of East Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Carmina (Grandolfo) DiFruscio. Mr. DiFruscio was an employee and member of the Teamsters Local 251 for 40 years, before retiring in 1980. He was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He is survived by three sons; Vincent C. and his wife Francine DiFruscio of Riverside, Robert and his wife Elaine DiFruscio of East Providence and Joseph and his wife Sue DiFruscio of Seekonk, three sisters; Justina DiVora of Cranston, Angela Burgio and Nancie Trasko, both of Providence, five adoring grandchildren; John W., Vincent, Dawn, and Laura DiFruscio and Jennifer Paschoal, and four loving great granddaughters; Amanda, Rebecca and Emily DiFruscio and Ashtyn Paschoal. He was the brother of the late Benjamin Miller, Rocco, Frank and twin brother Orlando DiFruscio. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Kern, Joseph A., of Hilton Avenue, Riverside, died Friday December 2, 2005 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sarah S. (Spicuzza) Kern. A lifelong resident of East Providence, he was the son of the late Augustus F. and Anna (Sullivan) Kern. Mr. Kern was an independent insurance broker for 20 years and later was an independent contractor for several years before retiring in 1998. Joseph was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and a member of the Riverside American Legion Post # 10. He enjoyed reading and traveling. Mr. Kern was a graduate of LaSalle Academy Class of 1941. He was sergeant in the United States Army serving in the Pacific where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He also was an assistant to General Julius Klein in Japan during the Armistice. Besides his wife of 25 years, he is survived by four sons; Jay Kern of Rehoboth, Thomas A. Kern of Riverside, James T. Kern of Riverside and Michael Kern of Cranston, three sisters; Nancy Riley of Fort Myers, Fla., Mary Cronin and Jean M. Kern, both of East Providence, a brother; Augustus P. Kern of Cranston, four grandsons and two granddaughters. He was the former husband of the late Nicoletta B. (DeRensis) Kern. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside on Wednesday December 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Scanlon, Robert, E., 76, formerly of Cul De Sac Way, Riverside, and Bristol Ferry Road, Portsmouth, a retired insurance agent died Tuesday November 29, 2005, peacefully at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, FL, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Carr) Scanlon. Born in Providence, a son of the late Dr. Joseph H. and Mary (Johnson) Scanlon, he lived in Riverside for 35 years, Portsmouth for 16 years, and wintered in Naples, FL, for 15 years. Mr. Scanlon was an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1995. He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy Class of 1947 where he was a member of the varsity Hockey team and was selected to the Rhode Island All-State High School Hockey team. He attended St. Thomas University, St. Paul, MN. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Bob was an avid golfer and member of the Montaup Country Club, Portsmouth and the Foxfire Country in Naples. He was also a former member of the Pawtucket Country Club. Besides his wife of 52 years, he is survived by four daughters; Mary Ann Fisher of Narragansett, Nancy J. Poon of Cumberland, Holly E. Galipeau of Narragansett and Erin M. Scanlon of Wakefield, a sister; Mary P. Newman of Middletown, seven grandchildren; Jeremiah and Siobhan Ryan, Jesse and Delaney Poon, Patrick Sweeny, Connor Fisher, and Kelsey Galipeau. He was the father the late Robert E. Scanlon Jr. and brother of the late Dr. Joseph Scanlon, Helen Hoban, Edward Scanlon, Anna Egan, John, Leo, and Thomas Scanlon. His funeral will be held Monday December 5, 2005 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Hood, Peter, L., 69, of Rumstick Road, a retired Executive Vice President, died Thursday December 1, 2005, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (McRae) Hood. Born in Maplewood, N.J., he was the son of the late Robert L. and Rayon Edith (Leigh) Hood, he lived in Barrington for 33 years. Mr. Hood was an Executive Vice President of Fleet Bank Financial Group for 23 years before retiring in 1994. Peter was a graduate of Bucknell University a Class of 1959. He was a commander in the Army Military Police Corps Co. He was a member of the Board of Trustee of Women and Infants Hospital, the Better Business Bureau Board of Directors and the American Bankers Association Board of Directors and Chairman of the Marketing Committee. Peter enjoyed photography, gardening, woodworking, sailing, tennis, and scuba diving. Besides his wife of 39 years, he is survived by two daughters; Virginia Hood Dreier of Barrington and Kimberly McRae Hood Spaight of Barrington and three grandchildren. Harry C. Miller

Harry C. Miller, 65, of Nayatt Road, died at Rhode Island Hospital on Monday, June 11, 2007 with his wife and sons by his bedside following a ten year battle with cancer. He was born in Lancaster, PA, son of Erma Geyer Miller Zimmerman of Elizabethtown, PA and the late Russell Miller. He had resided in Barrington for the past 18 years. A 1960 graduate of Elizabethtown High School in Elizabethtown, PA, he attended Stevens Institute of Technology and Penn State University. As Supervisor of Engineering at Providence College, he oversaw many major improvements to the campus. He previously worked at Halliwell Engineering, of East Providence, Trola Industries and Freezing Equipment Sales, of York, PA, and RCA of Lancaster, PA. During the course of his career, Harry contributed to projects across the United States and around the world. Harry was a member and trustee of Barrington United Methodist Church and a former member of the First Church of the Brethren, York, PA, where he had served as chairman of building and grounds. He also had served as a volunteer fireman with Springettsbury Township Fire Department in York for many years. When he was not working, Harry enjoyed traveling with his family and sailing on the Narragansett Bay. He had an avid interest in trains, planes, and computers. He and his wife, Eileen Haldeman Miller, celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in March. Survived by his wife, his mother, step-father Simon Zimmerman, Elizabethtown, PA, 2 sons, Craig O., husband of Sandra Bean Miller, Lansdale, PA, and Eric T., husband of Ruoxia Li Miller, Dubuque, IA, 2 Grandsons; Aaron and Caleb, and a brother, Frank S., husband of Linda Wolfe Miller, Hershey, PA. Memorial Services will be held at St. Dominic Chapel on the campus of Providence College on Friday, June 22, at 3:00 p.m. Burial was held previously at the Mount Tunnel Cemetery in Elizabethtown, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to his church at 230 Washington Rd., Barrington, RI 02806, or to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202. Arrangements are by the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, Riverside.

Edward R. Creighton

Creighton, Edward, R., 49, of Harris Street, Riverside, died unexpectedly on June 17, 2007. He was the former husband of Paula M. Creighton of Riverside.
Born in Providence, a son of Rose Marie (LaBrie) Creighton of Riverside and the late Frederick J. Creighton Jr. he was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mr. Creighton was a carpenter for many years. Edward was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He was a Master Diver and a Certified Boat Captain. He enjoyed running and competed in several marathons.

Mr. Creighton was a United States Navy Veteran. Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister; Rosemarie A. Fournier of East Providence, a brother; Robert E. Creighton of Quincy, MI and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late David R. Creighton and Fred J. Creighton III.

His funeral will be held on Thursday June 21, 2007 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. She was the mother of the late Beverly Ann Reiss and Christian Reiss. She was the sister of the late Shirley Marchand, Dorothy Brown, Raymond, George, Mickey, and Harold Plante. Her funeral will be held Friday December 16, 2005 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, at 8:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jean Baptiste Church, Main Street, Warren at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 4-6 pm.
