Joseph F. McVeigh

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on Jun. 21, 1922

McVeigh, Joseph F., age 88, of Berkeley Street, died June 9, 2011 at home. He was the husband of the late Hilda (Roderick) McVeigh of 47 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James and Mary (McCabe) McVeigh. He resided in East Providence for 60 years.

He worked as a photoengraver for Mowbry Co. for 10 years and also for the Providence Gravure for 20 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Graphic Communication International Union. He was a former member of the PEAL Club of Attleboro. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. He lived a life of faith, love and family and took pride in taking care of his home and yard.

He is survived by his son Michael J. McVeigh of East Providence, his daughter Barbara Ann Gannon and her husband James of Lincoln, and his 2 granddaughters Katherine and Julia Gannon.

He was the brother of the late James, William, Leo and Henry McVeigh.

His funeral will begin on Tuesday at 8 AM from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8 PM.

Albertino deAlmeida Costa

Born in Paredes do Alvao, Portugal on Jul. 27, 1933

Departed on Jun. 12, 2011 and resided in East Providence, RI.

EAST PROVIDENCE – Albertino Costa, age 77, of Ingraham St., died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Maria "Eliza" (Macedo Rodrigues) Costa.

Born July 27, 1933, in Paredes do Alvao, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel Augusto DaCosta and Laurentina deJesus Almeida.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, he leaves his 5 sons and their wives, Armindo and Florinda Costa and Zeferino and Lourdes Costa, all of Rumford, Antonio Manuel and Susan Costa and Virgilio and Cristina Costa, all of East Providence, and Jose Joaquim and Paula Costa of Seekonk; 11 grandchildren; and 5 brothers and sisters in Portugal.

His funeral will begin Thursday at 9am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8pm.

Ginny B. Barlow

Born in Providence, RI on Jul. 29, 1940

Departed on Jun. 13, 2011 and resided in East Providence, RI.

EAST PROVIDENCE – Virginia "Ginny" Brenda (Connery) Barlow, age 70, of Dewey Ave., died Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of Allan F. Barlow.

Mrs. Barlow was the mother of Keith Perry of Pawtucket, Dennis Barlow of East Providence, Allan Barlow also of East Providence, and the late John Perry; the grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 7; and the sister of Charlotte Deady of Coventry and the late Thomas Connery.

Her funeral will begin Friday at 12noon in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence with burial following at St. Patrick's cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours will be held Friday morning, 9am until 12noon.

Maria C. Tavares

Born on Nov. 30, 1922

Maria C. Tavares, age 88, died June 13, 2011 at Waterview Villa surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Jose D. Tavares. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Mariana Cordeiro.

She worked as an assembler for Davol Rubber Company.

She is survived by her children, Maria Braga of East Providence, John Tavares of Cumberland and Joseph Tavares of Rehoboth. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Jose Cordeiro and the late Manuel Cordeiro, Irene Valcorba and Maria da Luz Verissimo.

Her funeral will begin on Friday at 8 AM from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 No. Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8 PM.

Dorothea E. Robalisky

Born in East Providence, RI on Jan. 3, 1927

Departed on Jun. 14, 2011 and resided in Johnston, RI.

JOHNSTON – Dorothea E. (Simonetti) Robalisky, age 84, of Cherry Hill Rd., died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Robalisky.

Born Jan. 3, 1927, in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Emilio and Angela (Fanella) Simonetti.

Mrs. Robalisky was the mother of Edward Robalisky II of Johnston and Kerry Lemieux and her husband Gary, of Smithfield; grandmother of Gary Jr. and Kristen; and great grandmother, “MayMay”, of Natalya.

She was the sister of the late Lillian Moise, Adeline DeFalco, Beatrice Simonetti and George Simonetti.

Her funeral will begin Saturday at 12noon in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence with burial following at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation will be Saturday morning, 11am until the time of service at 12noon.

Manuel Armando DaPonte Bicho

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores on Jun. 22, 1942

Departed on May 26, 2011 and resided in East Providence, RI.

EAST PROVIDENCE – Manuel Armando DaPonte Bicho, age 68, of Ide Ave., died early Thursday morning, May 26, 2011 at the Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Maria Ana (DosSantos) Bicho.

Born June 22, 1942, in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose Bicho and Beatriz Vieira DaPonte. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and was a member of the Fox Point Portuguese Sporting Club.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, he leaves his four children, Joseph Francisco DaPonte, Helen DeCastro, and Carlos DaPonte, all of East Providence, and Ana Paula Machado of Seekonk; and his grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Chelsey, Joshua, Sarah, Emily, Isabella, Sophia and Chloe.

Mr. Bicho was also the brother of Jose DaPonte of East Providence, Artur Bicho of Providence, Carlos DaPonte of British Columbia, and the late Antonio DaPonte.

His funeral will begin Tuesday at 8:45am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Traverse St., Providence.

Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, 5-8pm.

Myrtle A. Costa

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on May 28, 1926

Departed on Sep. 16, 2008 and resided in Providence, RI.

Costa, Myrtle A. died September 16, 2008.

She was the wife of the late Manuel Costa.

She is survived by 5 children, 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 7:30PM in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway East Providence RI.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 6-8PM.
