John H. Williams Jr.
1946 - 2007
Woonsocket - John H. Williams Jr., 61 of Fourth Ave., passed away Saturday in the Miriam Hospital, Providence.
Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late John H. and Ruth (Ballou) Williams Sr. He resided in Woonsocket for many years.
He was employed as a machinist for Sealol Incorporated of Warwick for many years until his retirement.
He leaves one son Michael N. Williams of Woonsocket and one daughter Sherry A. Plante of Burrillville. Three sisters Judith Bardsley of North Smithfield, Nancy Kacur of Ridgeway, Ontario Canada, and Ruth Aragao of Cumberland. One grandson Jonathan Williams of Woonsocket and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in the Chapel of Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.

John Alves
1918 - 2007
Cumberland - John Alves, 89 "Formerly known as the Prince of Dancing in Valley Falls" passed away Friday in the Haven Health Center, Pawtucket. He was the beloved husband of Rachel (Ferreira) Alves.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late John and Clementina (Jesus) Alves. He was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
Mr. Alves was a laborer for many years for the former Fanning & Dawley Construction Company, Providence. Upon his retirement he assisted his son Daniel Alves in the family business at Galinda's Auto Service, Cumberland.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Beside his wife he leaves two sons Daniel J. Alves of Cumberland and John Alves III presently serving with the military in Iraq. One daughter Francesca Galegoes of Pawtucket. Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Manuel Alves, Adeline Rebello and Charles Alves.
Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.

Alfred A. "Fred" Houle
1956 - 2007
Pawtucket, RI / Mooers Forks, NY - Alfred A. “Fred” Houle, 50 of Blackman Corners Rd. and formerly of Pawtucket died Saturday in the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, NY. He was the husband of Sally Sanfilippo.
Born in Central Falls he was the son of Jean Paul and Ellen (Berthiaume) Houle of Cumberland. He resided in Mooers Forks for the past seven years previously residing in Pawtucket.
He was employed by the Tara Plant Construction Co., Holyoke, MA for the past ten years. He was previously the proprietor of the former Fred's Welding Co, Central Falls.
He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing the Lake Champlain area. He was also a leather crafter.
Through his first marriage to Kathleen DeBlois he leaves two children, a daughter, Erin Houle of Johnston and a son Brian Houle of Lincoln. Two step children, Dawn Trost of Saranac, NY and Dennis Costello of Elmira, NY. Two brothers, Paul A. Houle of Downingtown, PA, Albert N. Houle of Greene, RI and one sister Elaine M. Brothers of Pascoag, RI. He also leaves three grandchildren, Eden Houle of Johnston and Mitchell Trost and Kara-Ann Lavarnway both of Saranac, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Robert A. Houle.
His funeral will be held Thursday evening with services at 7 p.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private.

LANDEN RYAN SPLIETHOF
2007
CUMBERLAND - Landen R. Spliethof, infant son of Tara Spliethof and Peter Emmons, passed away Wednesday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket.
Besides his loving mother, and father, he leaves his paternal grandparents, as well as his maternal grandparents Charles and Barbara Morin; his aunt, Jade Spliethof, and uncle, Eric Morin.
His funeral service will be held Monday at 6 PM in the St. Edward Church, Pawtucket. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.

Mary J. Donnelly
1918 - 2007
CUMBERLAND - Mary J. Donnelly, 89, formerly of Marshall Avenue, passed away peacefully in the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late William J. Donnelly.
Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Tolkaczewicz) Spaniak. She resided in Cumberland for 53 years, previously residing in Central Falls.
Mary was an office manager for the former Jorm Tool and Dye Co. of Pawtucket for many years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of the St. Aidan Church in Cumberland.
She leaves one daughter, Karen Worden of Cumberland; two granddaughters Lori Rojas of Lincoln, and Marianne Hinckley of Cumberland; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Garrett both of Cumberland; three sisters, Jean Hicks of Central Falls, Sister Innocentia of Stamford, CT, and Helen Spaniak of Pawtucket; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 9 AM in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Arrangements are under the direction of J. J. Duffy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Alzheimers Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306 Providence, RI 02906.

Catherine E. Crosby
1960 - 2007
North Attleboro - Catherine Crosby, 47 of Mount Hope Street died on August 23 in the Eastern Long Island Hospital, Greenport, NY.
She was born on March 28, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She graduated from Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie in 1978, and from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY in 1982, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was recently employed at the Arbour-Fuller Hospital, South Attleboro as the director of nursing.
She is survived by her children, Robert Johnson and Lauren Johnson of Bedford, MA and one stepson Nicholas Regan of North Attleboro. She also leaves her mother Elaine Crosby of Poughkeepsie, NY and her sister Celeste Crosby and brother in law Gary McKendry, two nieces Campbell and Hunter McKendry all of Katonah, NY.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 5 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Arbour-Fuller Hospital, Adolescent Program, 200 May Street South Attleboro, MA 02703.

Olga A. Sherman
1922 -2007
Cumberland - Olga A. Sherman, 84 of Sanford Ave., passed away Sunday in Haven Health Center, Pawtucket. She was the husband of the late William J. Sherman.
Born in Blackstone, MA., she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Lena (Shamansko) Shewcov. She was a lifelong resident of Cumberland
She was employed by Texas Instruments, Attleboro, MA., for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of various Women's Clubs throughout the area.
She leaves one son Arthur J. Sherman of Cumberland, two step-daughters Paula McGrath of Passadumkeag, ME., and Elaine Bjorkman of Alpha, Ill., One stepson Chester Chomka of Trinity, FL., and one brother Michael Shewcov. She was the sister of the late Jenny Borzony.
A Committal Service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM in the Chapel of Resurrection Cemetery, Wrentham Road Cumberland. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.

Mary Goes
1909 - 2007
CUMBERLAND - Mary Goes, 98, formerly of 210 Iroquois Rd., Cumberland, passed away Sunday in the Oakland Grove Nursing Home, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Antonio Goes Sr.
Born in Lincoln, and raised in the Berkley Section of Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederica and Anna (Porcelli) Prete. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life.
She was a Jewelry Worker for the White Manufacturing Company of Pawtucket for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Goes was a communicant of St. Aidan Church.
She leaves her closest friends, and caretakers, Janice Rodrigues of Pawtucket, and Nora Jacques of Cumberland.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Relatives and Friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, 6-8 PM.

George H. Duprey Jr.
1934 - 2007
North Providence - George H. Duprey Jr., 72 of Dickinson Avenue, passed away Monday at home. He was the husband of Corinne (Bedard) Duprey.
Born in Blackstone, MA., he was the son of the late George H. and Evelyn (Haines) Duprey Sr. He resided in North Providence for the past 16 years previously residing in Pawtucket.
He was employed for many years as a fork lift operator at the former Corning Glass until his retirement 10 years ago. He also worked part time at Pep Boys for the past 5 years.
He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Beside his wife he leaves three sons Edward Duprey of Pawtucket, James Duprey of West Warwick and George Duprey of Pawtucket. Three daughters Marie Weeks of Ormond Beach, FL., Catherine Page of Hudson, MA., and Rachel Duprey of North Providence. Three step sons Steven Skeldon of South Attleboro, MA., Albert Skeldon of Cumberland and Michael Skeldon of Pascoag. One sister Janice Anderson of Groveton, NH. Ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two nephews.
A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.

Frederick J. Walach
1932 - 2007
Cumberland - Frederick J. Walach 75 of Central Street Harrisville, passed away Wednesday in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Frances (Brochu) Walach.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Joseph and Adelaide (Janicki) Walach. He was a lifelong resident of Cumberland until moving to Florida and Harrisville.
He was employed by the former Texas Instruments of Attleboro for 28 years until his retirement.
He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Beside his wife he leaves five sons, Stephen M. Walach and his wife Lynne of East Douglas, MA., Charles E. Walach and his wife Eunice of Pascoag, David J. Walach and his wife Lorraine of Smithfield, John F. Walach and his wife Joanna Capparella D.O of East Walpole, MA., and Mark A. Walach and his wife Diane of Warwick. Nine grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road Cumberland.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Sunday 4 to 8 PM.
