LANCASTER — Services for Amy Dianne Moser, 77, widow of John Moser, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Catawba Baptist Church, burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home. Born in Prospect to Sam and Harriett Rollins, she died Dec. 9, 2004. Surviving: children, Anita Riggins, Jerry Moser; grandchildren, Cliff, Vickie, Misty, Lacy, Devan; 3 great-grandchildren.

Victor Morris

COLUMBIA — Services for Victor Morris, 38, are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Genesis Church of God in Christ, burial in Palmetto Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Greater Columbia Funeral Service. Surviving: parents, Annie Mae Morris, Ronald Hogan; siblings, Elaine Harris, Vallerstine Smith, Lisa Corbett, Camilla, Shanean and Horace Hogan, Ronald, Darnell and Bryant Morris, Vince and Parnell Brown.

Doris Ruff

COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Mrs. Doris Jean Asbill Ruff of Columbia will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem AME Church in Winnsboro with burial to follow in Ebenezer AME Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 7-8 this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Ruff will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive is in charge.

Mrs. Ruff died on Dec. 6. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of George E. Sr. and Bertha M. Gilmore. Doris (Jean) attended the public schools of Richland County, and graduated from Eau Claire High. She continued her education and graduated Cum Laude from Francis Marion University and the Medical University of South Carolina with a BSN degree in Nursing. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and the South Carolina Nursing Association. She retired as a Registered Nurse from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, where she had been employed for more than twenty-eight years.

Mrs. Ruff was a member of Ebenezer AME Church, and was the current First Lady of Bethlehem AME Church of Winnsboro. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Pastors’ Aide, YPD, the Sr. Choir, and the Ministers Wives’ Association.

Surviving are her husband, The Reverend Lonzo Ruff; son, Del (Jamel) Ruff; grandchildren, Jyles, Kennedy and Rachel; her parents, George and Bertha A. Gilmore; two brothers, George Jr. and Anthony Gilmore; two sisters, Agnes Ruff and Robin Hampton; a host of nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law, church family and friends.

Sybil Reeves

HEATH SPRINGS — Services with burial for Sybil Carolyn Robinson Reeves, 66, 4 p.m. Saturday at Flint Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw. Born in Lancaster, she died Dec. 7, 2004. Surviving: husband, Howard; son, Tim Reeves; stepdaughter, Elaine Smith; 5 siblings; stepgrandchildren; nieces, nephews; predeceased by mother, Myrtle McManus Vick; stepfather, Ira Vick.

Margaret Shell

NEWBERRY — Memorial services for Margaret L. Shell, 81, of Springfield Place, who died December 8, 2004, widow of Clifford Owen Shell, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Springfield Place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 2442 Mt. Pleasant Road, Pomaria, SC 29126. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Trudy Shell of Pomaria.

Alvin Sentell

ABBEVILLE — Services for Alvin Layfatte Sentell, 71, are 11 a.m. Saturday (visitation 6-8 tonight) at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, burial in Melrose Cemetery. Born in Westminster to Freeman and Ruby Sentell, he died Dec. 8, 2004. Surviving: wife, Ruby DeVall Sentell; daughters, Deborah Joyner, Patricia Owens, Jeanette Templeton, Susan Whennen, Carolyn Johnson; sister, Velma Pressley; 10 grandchildren; more.

Mary Smith

ORANGEBURG — Services for Mary Elizabeth Johnson Smith, 92, widow of Allen Smith, are 3 p.m. (visitation 2 p.m.) Saturday: Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, burial: Memorial Park Cemetery. Born in Randolph Co., N.C., to Hugh and Donnie Johnson, she died Dec. 8, 2004. Surviving: daughter, Patricia Newman; grandchildren, Allen and Joseph Newman; great-grand, Jennifer Newman; sisters, Stella Smith, Bessie Ulmer; more.

Almeta Smalls

SUMTER — Services with burial for Almeta “Sister” Gregg Smalls, 65, 2 p.m. Saturday (viewing 1 p.m.) at Joshua Baptist Church. Job’s Mortuary is in charge. Born in Mayesville to Henry Sr. and Ada Peterson Gregg, she died Dec. 6, 2004. Polly Sprouse

TRAVELERS REST — Services for Polly Batson Sprouse, 93, widow of Ennis Sprouse, are 1 p.m. (visitation 12-1 p.m.) Saturday at The Howze Mortuary, burial: Enoree Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Greenville Co. to Waddy Smith and Minnie Lee Batson, she died Dec. 9, 2004. Surviving: daughters, Rheba Lynn, Jewel McCauley; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Charlie Thompson

CARLISLE — Services for Charlie Mack Thompson, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Upper Hope Station Baptist Church, Fairfield County with burial in the church cemetery. Denton Funeral Service is in charge. Mr. Thompson died December 7, 2004.

Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Belk Funeral Home. Born in Florence Co. to Lucien and Lottie Huggins Turner, he died Dec. 8, 2004. Surviving: wife, Myrdie Lynch Turner; daughters, Joanne Davis, Kimberly Suggs; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 sisters.

Jones Bell

GREENWOOD — Services for James Jones Bell, 82, retired from Monsanto, 3 p.m. today (1:30 p.m. visitation) at Blyth Funeral Home; burial: Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Born in Elbert Co., Ga. to Henry and Marietta Dye Bell, he died Dec. 9, 2004. Surviving are wife, Ruby Breazeale Bell; daughters, Susan Lord, Angela Troy; siblings, Hubert, Catherine Bell, Frances Hudson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.

Born in Chester Co. to Wilson Pressley and Sadie Beckham Pressley Varnadore, she died Dec. 9, 2004. Surviving: spouse, Alex; children, Richard Humphries, Gloria Boone, Loraine Bronson, Patsy Keffer; siblings, John Pressley, Annie Broome.

Clarence Davis

LEXINGTON — Services with burial for Clarence F. Davis will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Lexington Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Lexington Co., he died Dec. 6, 2004. Surviving are wife, Shirley R. Davis; daughters, Latisha Staten, Jean Worthy; sons, Tarish and Jamal Davis.

Mary Lynch

LAKE CITY — Mrs. Mary Frances Webster Lynch, 96, widow of William S. “Willie” Lynch, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 after an illness.

Mrs. Lynch was born in Florence County, the daughter of the late William Albert and Angie Kirby Webster. She was a homemaker and member of Lake City First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, William S. “Billy” (Margaret) Lynch, III of Lake City and James Carlisle “Jimmie” (Jackie) Lynch, Sr., of Lake City; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 11, 2004 in Lake City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Lake City First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 820, Lake City, SC, 29560.

The family will have visitation at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge.
