Maddison Feaster
WEST COLUMBIA — Graveside services for infant Maddison Rese Feaster, will be held at 2pm Sunday at Southland Memorial Gardens, conducted by Reverend Ray Timmerman. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association c/o Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome Research, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge.
Maddison died Friday, December 10, 2004. Born in Columbia, on November 22, 2004, she was the daughter of Benjamin Calvin and Ashleigh Nanney Feaster.
Surviving are her parents of West Columbia; maternal grandparents, Alvis Ray Nanney, Jr. and Merri Miles Nanney of West Columbia; paternal grandparents, Calvin and Hazel Feaster of West Columbia; great-grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Alvis R. Nanney and Dulith Hall Miles, all of West Columbia.
She was predeceased by her great-grandfather, D.E. “Doc” Miles.
Harry Halfacre
NEWBERRY — Services for Harry Woodrow Halfacre will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip’s Road, Newberry, SC 29108. McSwain-Evans Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Halfacre, 76, died December 11, 2004. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Perry Fredrick and Hattie Sease Halfacre. He was a retired mechanic, the co-owner of Betty’s Catering and a member of Clayton Memorial Universalist Church.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Betty Stone Halfacre; a sister and brother-in-law, Troxell and David Senn of Newberry; a brother and sister-in-law, Cyril and Margaret Halfacre of Newberry.
Pete Hall
WEST COLUMBIA — Services for James E. “Pete” Hall, 72, will be held at 12 noon Tuesday in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, conducted by Reverend Donald P. Davis and Father Thomas Moore, with burial at Southland Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to “Angel Flight.” The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hall died Friday, December 10, 2004. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Cleveland and Mamie Ellis Hall. Formerly of Lancaster, he was a resident here since 1953 and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Hall was the founder and co-owner of Cayce TV & Appliances and was currently employed by J.E. Hall & Associates. He was a Rotary Club member throughout South Carolina. In 1970, he was the recipient of the “Boss of the Year Award” given by the Cayce-West Columbia Jaycees. Mr. Hall was a Pilot for “Angel Flight.” He was a Lifetime Member of the Gamecock Club and in 1989 was recognized by the USC athletic supporters. He also wrote several books including, “How to Cut Your Electricity Bill by 50%.” Mr. Hall established The Ambassador Company, a learning course, “How to Be Successful.” He also taught dancing at the Arthur Murray Studio. He was also an avid golfer. Mr. Hall taught his family to follow their dreams and never give up. He lived an optimistic life and taught his family to always do the same.
Surviving are his wife, Olga Victorovna Hall of West Columbia; daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Archie Boone of Timmonsville, Tanya and Steve Romine of Alpharetta, GA, Dawn Jordan of Columbia, Daphne and Nathan Koenigsberg of Waxhaw, NC; step-son, Michael Clontz of West Columbia; sister, Margie Barrineau of Lancaster; brother, Cleveland “Boot” Hall of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Boone Hickey of Timmonsville, Austin Hall Boone (Lea) of Hattiesburg, MS, J. Alexander Mowery of Columbia, James Evan “Jake” Koenigsberg of Waxhaw, NC.
Ouida Johnson
SWANSEA — Ouida Belle Johnson, 82, of Swansea, died Friday, December 10, 2004.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2004, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North with Rev. Johnny Slice officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday evening.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Lexington County, a daughter of the late Westly Pope and Lula Florence Sturkie Jeffcoat. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by sister, Alma Chandler and Tempie Rucker, and brothers, Bryan, Duncan, Blight, Monroe, Pope, and Myers Jeffcoat.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Danny Langley, of Pelion; and Patsy and Gus Hydrick, of Swansea; three sons and daughters-in-law: Willard R. and Nancy Jeffcoat of Columbia; Everette “Budd” Jeffcoat, of Swansea; and John and Phyllis Raybourne, of Alford, FL; a sister, Lula Padgett, of Livingston; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Cartha Hopkins
BISHOPVILLE — Funeral services for Cartha Berry Hopkins age 89, who died Dec. 10, will be Monday 3:00 Concord UMC. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 at Norton Funeral Home.
Born in Lee Co., she was a daughter of the late Daniel Henry & Maggie Davis Berry.
Surviving are children, Patricia Nobles, Archie Hopkins, Jr., Alvin Hopkins, Bishopville; sisters: Wanda Sauso, Rock Hill, Joye Nesbitt, Ashwood; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Annie Kirby
CAYCE — Graveside services for Annie Louise Kirby, 81, will be held at 10am Monday at Southland Memorial Gardens, conducted by Reverend J.E. Jeffcoat. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia.
Mrs. Kirby, widow of James Harold Kirby, died Friday, December 10, 2004. Born in McColl, she was a daughter of the late Luther A. and Annie Mae Milligan Priest. She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Kirby graduated with honors from McColl High School, where she was the Literacy Editor of the school newspaper.
Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Lavinia Bruce of Lexington, Jamie Lou Gordon of Cayce, Anita and Monty Howell of Cayce; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Yuri Kirby of West Columbia; sister, Vickie Scoggins of Columbia; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grand-children; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Vera Carter.
Esther Keasler
GASTON — Visitation for Esther Mae Keasler, also known as “Peaches,” 70, will be Monday 7-9 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mrs. Keasler, wife of the late Audrey Keasler, died Friday, December 10, 2004. Born in Dillon, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lorena Smith Hunt. She was employed with R. C. McEntire Produce Company.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Calvin Myers of Gaston; step-sister, Debra Smith of West Columbia; grandchildren, Victoria Smith, Bambi Lamears, Bandi Lamears, Stephanie McGill and Chrissy Smith; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Keasler was a loving person who never met a stranger.
Nettles Myers
CAMDEN — A graveside for Nettles A. Myers, Jr., 63, will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 13th at Quaker Cemetery, 713 Meeting Street, Camden, SC. A celebration of life and visitation will be held at the family home after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kershaw Center Disabilities Foundation, P.O. box 310, 1619 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Camden, S.C. 29020.
Mr. Myers died Friday, December 10th at home. Born in Camden, he was the son of Elizabeth McCoy Myers and the late Nettles A. Myers, Sr. Mr. Myers attended Clemson University and the Palmetto Military Academy. His 34-year career with Nationwide Insurance Company included service as a Claims Adjuster for the midlands area, as Assistant Manager of Personnel at the regional office in Raleigh, NC, and as Benefits Planning Manager and Manager of Employment and Placement at the home office in Columbus, Ohio. He retired after serving as District Sales Manager for both the Piedmont and Midlands regions of SC.
Through his spirit of generosity, he has benefited numerous organizations over many years. He is a previous member of the Columbia Jaycees, member of the Richland County Claims Association, Chairman of the United Way for Wake County, N.C., Vice Chairman of the Personnel Managers Association of Ohio, member of the York County Life Underwriters Association, Past President of the Rock Hill Sertoma Club, board member of the York County Development Disabilities and Special Needs Board, served as the Nationwide counter signature agent for the Property and Casualty Company of Nationwide, was appointed by the Governor to the SC Insurance Commission where he served on the Approved Credits for Continuing Education Committee. He was a Board Member of the Committee of 100 for Kershaw County, Chairman of the City of Camden Mayor’s Committee for the Employment of the Handicapped, chairman of the Youth Committee for American Legion Post 17, a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, an ardent supporter of the Kershaw County Recreation Department’s PAL Baseball program and the Kershaw Center, member of the Boykin Hunt Club, long standing member of IPTAY, and Past President of the Camden Lugoff Area Shag Society.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Cooper Myers; two sons, Nettles “Tripp” A. Myers, III and his wife, Wende Howe Myers and Albert Cooper Myers; his brother, Frederick McCoy Myers and wife, Louise Cantey Myers and two beloved nephews, Frederick McCoy Myers, Jr. and Benjamin Cantey Myers, all of Camden.
John Laney, Eugene Watts, Marshall Womack, Dr. James Reinhardt, Phil Jackson, Sam Montgomery, David Dudley, Randy Sandifer, Larry Beck, David Midgett, Ben Thompson, Greg Williams, and Terry McCoy will serve as pallbearers. Korengay Funeral Home Camden Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Weeks
REEVESVILLE — Mr. Donald Ellis (Nonnie) Weeks, 82 of 6260 Badham Drive, Reevesville passed away Saturday December 11, 2004 in Colleton Medical Center after a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Weeks, Paul Weeks, Wayne McClure, Ronnie McClure, Sammy Reeves, David Benton, Terry Varner, Wayne Eadon, Billy McKinnon and Andrew Stephens.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home.
Mr. Weeks was born September 22, 1922 in Grover a son of the late William Kirkland and Neta Annie Westbury Weeks. He was retired electrician at Charleston Weapons Depot and a farmer. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. A Navy veteran of WW II he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters on USS Thornhill, USS Benawah, and USS Briltol and after WW II he completed 2 around the world goodwill tours. He was predeceased by a sister, Alberta W. Mizell, brothers, Cliff Weeks, Paul Weeks and Ernest Weeks.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Shuman Weeks, Reevesville, a son, Frank Kirkland Weeks, Swansea, and a daughter, Myra E. Weeks, Lexington, a grandson, Adam Jesse Weeks, Lexington, a brother, Thomas Jefferson Weeks, St. George. A number of Nephews and Nieces including a special niece, Annette Mizell Stephens, Greenville.
