November 13th, 1917 - November 3rd, 2010

Mrs. Mamie Blackmon Outlaw Peters, 92, of Hartsville, SC passed away on November 3, 2010. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Chapel with visitation prior to the service. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, 555 E. Cheves, Florence, SC 29506. Mrs. Peters was born in Darlington County, November 13, 1917 to the late Eugene and Hattie Bochette Blackmon. She was the widow of Leslie Outlaw and Marvin Peters. She was also predeceased by a son, Mark Outlaw, and a granddaughter, Karen Blackmon. Mrs. Peters was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Perry (Vicki) Outlaw and Woodrow (Jean) Outlaw, two daughters, Ginny (Wayne) Hunt, all of Hartsville, SC and Bette (Gene) King of Surf Side Beach, SC. 13 Grandchildren, Rodney King, Mitch (Donna) Outlaw, Robyn (Mark) Hays, Wes (Regina) Outlaw, Brad (Shelia) Outlaw, Curtiss (Shannon) Outlaw, Harvey (Susan) King, Tara (Joey) King, Michele (Britt) King, Gretchen Smith, Jennifer (Bryan) Horton, SSgt Justen (Traci) Outlaw, Alicen (Kevin) Gunter. She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Madge Blackmon and Lula Wright, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Morrell Nursing Home, especially the staff on the Gold Wing, for their loving care and kindness shown to our mother for the last six years.

Born in Darlington Co., SC, he was a son of Duard Cecil and Irene Mims Altman. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Maggie Ham Altman of Hartsville, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Cecil (Connie) Altman of Florence, SC; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Altman (Patrick) Hill of Lamar, SC, April Altman (Brad) Jones of St. Matthews, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah (William) Cassidy of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Bradley Jack Altman, Heather Michelle Altman, Brittany Nicole Altman, Justin Paul Altman, Gary Alan Altman, Drake Elliot Jones, Ali Grace Jones.

James McNair

April 30th, 1920 - November 4th, 2010

Graveside services for James Owen McNair, 90, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev. Lisa Culpepper will officiate the service and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 213 W. Home Ave., Hartsville, SC 29550, or The Presbyterian Home of Florence South Carolina, 2350 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC 29501. Mr. McNair died Thursday, November 4, 2010. Born in Darlington Co., SC, he was a son of the late James Leslie and Marguerite M. McNair. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and retired from the Hartsville Oil Mill. Surviving are his sister-in-law, Frances Doby McNair of Charlotte, NC; nephew, James Gray of Chico, CA; nieces, Laura McNair Cummings of Smithfield, VA, Leslie McNair Thomas of Amman, Jordan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sion M. McNair; sisters, Margaret Ann McNair, Mary McNair Gray.

Mary Helen Osborne Ross

September 19th, 1926 - November 5th, 2010

Funeral services for Mary Helen Osborne Ross, 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs Carroll Hall and the Rev. Glenn Jones will officiate with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Bobo Newsom Hwy., Hartsville, SC 29550; Bible Baptist Church, 2313 Robinson View Rd., Hartsville, SC 29550. Mrs. Ross, widow of Edgar C. Ross, died Friday, November 5, 2010. Born in St. Pauls, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Lula Mishoe Osborne. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Clyde Ross of Florence, SC; daughters, Brenda Cassidy and Bunny (Dennis) Perdue, both of Hartsville, SC; special daughter, Jeanette Eberhart of Acworth, GA; sister, Margaret Ann Locklear of Cordona, NC; brother, Clyde Osborne of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Renay Nichols, Tamra Blaton, Robert Cassidy, Edgar Cassidy, Lea Freeman, Camp Ross, Shannon Wilder, Matthew Perdue; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Osborne; sisters, Aline Gainey and Pearl Cox; grandchild, Jessica Cassidy.

Ruby Frances Mathis James

June 16th, 1942 - November 4th, 2010

Funeral services for Ruby Frances Mathis James, 68, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in Mt. Elon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. James died Thursday, November 4, 2010. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Willie Elias and Ruby Gandy Mathis. She loved her family and she enjoyed playing the piano by ear. Surviving are her husband, Charles H. James of Hartsville, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Tony C. (Cathy) James, Sr. of Hartsville, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Angela (Gary) Howell of Hartsville, SC; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn (Hiram) Massey of Hartsville, SC, Beverly (David) Byrd of Hartsville, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry (Helen) Mathis of Dovesville, SC, Dennis Mathis of Hartsville, SC; Bonnie Mathis of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren and spouse, Charlie (Bethany) James, Zack James. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rufus Mathis and Roland Mathis.

Margaret Emma Wadsworth Galloway

February 8th, 1921 - November 7th, 2010

Graveside funeral services for Margaret Emma Wadsworth Galloway will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, SC. The Rev. George Crow of Northeast Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC and the Rev. Rhett Sanders of Blythewood Presbyterian Church, Blythewood, SC will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, Hartsville, SC. The family suggests that those who wish may make memorials to Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Blythewood Presbyterian Church, Christian Ministry International, Columbia or a charity of your choice. Mrs. Galloway, wife of the late Harvey L. Galloway, Sr., died November 7, 2010. Born February 8, 1921 in Hartsville, SC, she was the daughter of the late W. Carl and Ethel Lee Wadsworth. She enjoyed gardening and baking. Surviving are her son, Harvey (Nancy Jay) Galloway of Columbia; grandson, Scott W. (Erin) Galloway of Blythewood; great-grandson, William W. Galloway of Blythewood; and her granddaughter, Monica D. (David) Thomas of Jackson, MS. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Miriam L. Wadsworth, and older brother, Richard H. Wadsworth. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Wildewood Downs, the Lutheran Hospice, and especially the special friends who provided countless hours of companionship.

She was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and working in her garden and she never met a stranger. Bryant of Hartsville, SC, Ralph Bryant of Pensacola, FL; grandson, Taylor Morrell. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William "Bud" Bryant and Boardman Bryant; sisters, Doris B. Huggins, Margaret B. Harrell, Catherine B. Rivers, Annie Mae B. Gandy.

James Thomas "Jaime" Sanderlin III

December 18th, 1955 - December 7th, 2010

Funeral services for James Thomas “Jaime” Sanderlin, III, 54, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The Rev. Vangie Cannon and Fr. Born in Bainbridge, GA, he was a son of James Thomas and Joy Walker Sanderlin, Jr. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and a huge Gamecock fan. He was previously employed with A. O. Smith. Surviving are his wife, Anne Leverette Sanderlin of Hartsville, SC; son, Clayton Thomas Sanderlin of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Emily Ross Sanderlin of Hartsville, SC; father and mother of Hampton, SC; sister, Jill (Greg) Jones of Hampton, SC; his dog, Reagan.
