Kathleen Hook

WHITE ROCK — Graveside service for Mary Kathleen Hook, 93, of the Lowman Home, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Ebenezer Lutheran Church Cemetery, Columbia. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is in charge.

Miss Hook died Saturday, December 18, 2004. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Conrad Hook and Leola Corinne Brown Hook. She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Surviving are; niece, Julie Dinney of Columbia; and nephews, G. C. Bauknight of California, T. M. Bauknight of Montana and J.E. Bauknight of Ballentine. She was predeceased by brother, Samuel Conrad Hook, Jr. and sisters, Anne Marie Bauknight and L. Marguerite Hook.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Lowman Home and Lutheran Hospice.

Erna Locklear

WEST COLUMBIA — Services for Erna Johanna Klara Locklear, 66, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2004 in Faith Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Tommy Lineberger. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to the Christian Children’s Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294, or American Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Locklear, widow of N L Locklear, died Saturday, December 18, 2004. Born in Klycken, Prussia, she was a daughter of the late Ernst and Leonore Heinrich Mauritz. Mrs. Locklear earned a German Kindergarten Teacher’s Certificate in Germany prior to becoming a US citizen in 1959. Later she earned a US high school diploma from Airport High School and attended the Universities of Maryland and South Carolina. Mrs. Locklear was retired after 19 years of employment from Westinghouse Electric. Recently, she was employed by Paradies Bookstore at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Throughout her life, Mrs. Locklear was a consummate volunteer and conversationalist.

Surviving are her children, Dorothea Armstrong (John) of Newnan, GA, Barbara Locklear of West Columbia, Dwyane Norman Locklear (Suzanne) of Pelion, Margaret Ritter (Walter) of Eastover, Stella Locklear of West Columbia; brothers and sister, Gustav Mauritz, Kurt Mauritz, Lilo Tesch, Erich Mauritz, Martin Mauritz, Arno Mauritz, all of Germany; and grandchildren, John Andrew Armstrong, Dennis Locklear, Carl Basil Locklear, and Joline Locklear.

Charlie Loadholt Jr.

VARNVILLE — Services for Charlie Henry Loadholt, Jr., beloved husband of Nancy Sharpe Loadholt, will be held Tuesday at 3 PM in the Sand Hill Baptist Church near Varnville, conducted by Rev. Glenn Samples and Rev. Don Turner and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton. Burial will follow in the Thames Cemetery on Grays Highway with Military honors provided by the South Carolina national Guard.

Mr. Loadholt, son of June C. Loadholt and the late Charlie H. Loadholt, was born on July 26, 1951 in Allendale County. He entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2004 after an heroic battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy, two cherished daughters, Monica Susanne Loadholt of Marion and Jessica Loadholt Bishop and husband Karl of Nixville, two step-grandchildren, Karl and Shelly Bishop, his mother of Hampton, one brother, Michael Loadholt and wife Robin of Brunson. He also enjoyed a special relationship with his mother-in-law Martha K. Sharpe of Varnville.

Mr. Loadholt was a dedicated servant of Sand Hill Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, RA leader, youth leader, Sunday School Director and sang in the choir. He was a member of the South Carolina National Guard, 163rd Support Battalion for 32 years, where he served as First Sergeant. This gave him the opportunity to interact with many soldiers whom he came to treasure as dear friends. He was a member and Past Master of Evergreen Masonic Lodge #153 in Hampton, Lillie Chapter OES, NCO Club, South Carolina National Guard Association and a dedicated supporter of athletics at Wade Hampton High School, his Alma Mater. His love of football and the Red Devils found him on the sidelines as a member of the chain crew for 30 years. A dedicated Christian, patriot, husband and father, he loved his God, his country, his wife and daughters.

He learned construction at his father’s knee and at 16 he began work with Clark and Company. For the last 10 years, he was a supervisor with Brunson Construction. His expertise for construction can be seen all over South Carolina and Georgia.

Because of his special love for young people, we ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sand Hill Baptist Church Youth Department, 15480 Pocotaligo Rd., Varnville, SC 29944 or Wade Hampton High School Athletic Dept., 201 Airport Rd., Varnville, SC 29944.

Friends may call at the funeral home chapel Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM and before 2 PM on Tuesday when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.

Margaret Martin

CAMDEN — Memorial services for Margaret Martin will be held at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church on December 27, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Rev. T. Lee Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kershaw County, 2001 W. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020 or to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Margaret E. Martin, age 77, passed away at home on December 18, 2004. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, May 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lena Olsen Foley. Mrs. Martin attended the University of Idaho, was a member of the Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church and was past president of the Camden Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

Surviving are her husband, Benny Martin; three daughters, Peggy McBride Leedy of Stuttgart, Germany, Toni Tuders of Camden, Lee A. Gilman of Lugoff; sister, Eileen Anderson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, Martin McBride, Casie Josey, Corie Martin, Samantha Brittian and Garrett Gilman; many close relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Pamela M. Fisher.

Charles Noll

ELGIN — Memorial service for Mr. Charles Martin Noll, 47, of Elgin will be held 7 o’clock Monday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 520 Gervais St., Columbia, SC 29201

Mr. Noll died Friday, December 17, 2004. Born at Fort Jackson, SC, he was a son of Charles F. Noll and Grace Evans. Mr. Noll was a member of the Ridgeway Hunt Club.

Survivors include his father of Leesville; mother of Florence, SC; wife, Sandra Ingram of Elgin; son, Charles Nathan Noll of Columbia; step-daughters, Melissa Kuper, Jill Ingram; brother, Alan F. Noll of Sumter; step-sister, Patsy Evans of Florence; two step-grandchildren; nieces, Jennifer and Alyson Noll.

Billy Poole

LEXINGTON — Billy B. Poole, 55, of Lexington, died Saturday, December 18, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at Wayside Baptist Tabernacle in Pelion with Rev. Astor Jacobs and Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be Leon Mims, Robbie Lynch, Alvin Jeffcoat, Chris Barnes, Robert Poole, and Lester Tindal.

Nannie Swenk

COLUMBIA — Services for Nannie Regina Livingston Swenk will be held two o’clock Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Ascension Lutheran Church, conducted by Pastor Russell H. Anderson. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Monday evening at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 827 Wildwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29203 or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Ln., Columbia, SC 29210.

Mrs. Swenk, widow of Leon R. Swenk, died Saturday, December 18, 2004. Born in Prosperity, SC, she was a daughter of the late Osborne S. and Thelma Singley Livingston. Mrs. Swenk was a graduate of Prosperity High School and Draughon’s Business College. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved working in her yard and garden and taking care of her home.

Survivors are her daughter, Nancy Rebecca Swenk of Columbia; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Lewis Leaphart of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Ruth Livingston of Prosperity, Clyde & Olivia Livingston of Newberry. She was predeceased by brothers, James, Legrand, and John Livingston.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice staff, Dr. Tripp Jones and staff, Dr. Frances Goldstein & staff for their care during her illness.

Michael Wooten

CHERAW — David Michael Wooten age 6 passed away on December 18, 2004. Born in Florence, SC, he was the son of Michael Linwood and Nikki Powers Wooten. He attended Cheraw Primary School.

He is survived by his parents of Chesterfield, SC and one sister Cayden Wooten of the home. Also by his maternal grandparents Paul and Cookie Powers and Susan and Donnie Rivers all of Bennettsville and his paternal grandparents Melvin Wooten and Ruth Sylvia all of Cheraw. Also his maternal great grandmother Christine Powers of Bennettsville and maternal great grandparents Janice and James Sylvia and Irene Wooten all of Cheraw.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 21, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. by the graveside at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw. The family will receive friends from 12-1 on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Norton Funeral Home of Cheraw is serving the Wooten family.

Leila Reynolds

LUCKNOW — Leila Mae Hall Reynolds, 87, widow of Robert Whitaker Reynolds, died Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Kershaw County Medical Center.

Born in Lucknow, she was the daughter of the late John McClure Hall and the late Ara Ratcliff Hall.

She was a member of the High Hill True Light Church of Christ.

Survivors include four sons, Robert W. (Judy) Reynolds of Charlotte, NC, Raymond M. (Margaret) Reynolds of Columbia, Charles J. (Jeanne) Reynolds and M. Wayne (Janice) Reynolds all of Lucknow; two daughters, Judith Ann (Marion) Mackey of Heath Springs, and Rosemary (Dean) Martin of Florence; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday in the High Hill True Light Church of Christ with Russell McLeod officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home, 490 Hubb Kelley Rd., Cassatt.

Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, S.C. Chapter, P.O. Box 1427, Easley, S.C. 29641 or to the American Heart Association, 400 Percival Rd., P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, S.C. 29260-6604.

Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.
