HARTSVILLE — Services for Charles Leon Jordan Jr., 76, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Norton Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are sons, Charles “Lee” Jordan III, Louis Jordan; grandsons, Joshua Jordan, Specialist Jeremy Jordan, USN.

Oliver Charles

UNION — Oliver Manning Charles, 89, widower of Verne Glass Charles, died Dec. 20, 2004. S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Union in a log cabin on the site of the present Union H.S., to James and Pearl Wood Charles, he retired as a C.P.O. from the Navy, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Surviving: children, Dr. Allan Charles, Jo Carolyn Anzalone; brother, Stuart; grand, great-grandchildren.

James Gault

UNION — Services with burial for James Bobby Gault, 68, Army veteran, Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing Plant retiree, are 3 p.m. Wednesday (body in church at 2): Sardis UMC, where he was a member; visitation 7-9 tonight: S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Born in Union to Lloyd and Mary Bailey Gault, he died Dec. 19, 2004. Surviving: wife, Shirley Morris Gault; daughter, Bonnie; sister, Rebecca Bishop; grand, great-grandchildren.

Ted Cantrell Jr.

GREENWOOD — Graveside service for Ted Rayford Cantrell Jr., 40, 1981 Greenwood H.S. graduate, Eagle Scout, Sawmill Resort employee, 2 p.m. today in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens; visitation 4-5 p.m. prior at Panola UMC social hall. Harley Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Abbeville to Ted Sr. and Carolyn Wilson Cantrell, he died Dec. 19, 2004. Surviving are parents; sister, Laurie; grandmother, Ethel Wilson.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Services for Barbara Louise Hooper, 73, 3 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church; burial: Magnolia Park Cemetery. McCullough Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Augusta to John and Thelma Kendrick, she died Dec. 19, 2004. Surviving are husband, Homer; children, Evelyn Muliolis, Patricia Angermann, Leon Hooper; sisters, Gloria Castor, Elaine Leverett; grand, great-grandchildren.

Robert McCutchen Jr.

BISHOPVILLE — Funeral services for Robert Calvin (Rob Jr.) McCutchen, Jr., 83, who died Dec. 19, will be held Wednesday at 3:00 from the Bishopville Presbyterian Church. Rev. Scott Bowerman will officiate. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Rob was born in Lee County, a son of the late Robert C. McCutchen, Sr. & Lena Rivers Johnson McCutchen. He had retired from the Post Office, was a volunteer with the Bishopville Fire Dept. for 70 years, a life long member and Elder of the Presbyterian Church, active in the Men of the Church, a veteran of WW II, a member of the American Legion and a Mason.

Surviving are 3 daughters: Lena Rivers McCutchen, Leila E. McCutchen, Sarah R. McCutchen, all of Bishopville; son and daughter-in-law: Robert C. (Julie) McCutchen, III, Hartsville; 2 grandchildren: Jay and Amy Beth McCutchen, Hartsville; 1 brother: Francis W. (Pete) McCutchen, Mamaroneck, New York; 1 sister: Sara K. McCutchen Burgess, Annandale, Va. Memorials may be made to the Bishopville Presbyterian Church or the Bishopville Rescue Squad.

James Tisdale

MANNING — A memorial service for James Graham Tisdale, 86, is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stephens Funeral Home. Born in Mayesville to Louis Sr. and Henrietta Touchberry Tisdale, he died Dec. 20, 2004. Surviving are wife, Mildred Simmons Tisdale; children, James Jr., Jeffrey, Jonathan Tisdale, Jesstine Meagher; stepchildren, Shaun, David Browne, Sharon Smith; sisters, Amy Tomlinson, Carol Cheezem; grandchildren.

CLEVELAND — Services with private burial for LTC Glenn Merhl Marks, USAF (Ret.), 71, 2 p.m. Wednesday (1 p.m. visitation): Locust Hill Baptist Church. The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge. Born in Kecksburg, Pa., to Merhl and Emily Anderson Marks, he died Dec. 18, 2004. Surviving: wife, Jo Pollard Marks; sons, Maj. Barry, Maj. Springob, 86, WWII veteran, Greyhound Bus mechanic, widower of Virginia Galus Springob, 11 a.m. Wednesday at Simons Funeral Home with burial in Allegheny Memorial Park. Born in Pittsburgh to Herman and Anna Springob, he died Dec. 19, 2004. Surviving: sons, Herman, Vernon; siblings, Margaret Asby, Arthur, Albert Springob; grand, great-grandchildren.

MCCOLL — Services for Edith Pate McAllister Tucker, 76, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson Church of God with burial in Rogers Cemetery; visitation 6-9 tonight at Rogers Funeral Home. Born in Marlboro Co. to Edgar and Edna Tyndall Pate, she died Dec. 19, 2004. HARTSVILLE - A graveside service for Kitty Windham Young, 75, retired from Jacksonville Court House, widow of Jeryld Young, will be at noon today in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Darlington Co. to Harold and Lizzie Isman Windham, she died Dec. 19, 2004. Surviving are children, Jerry, Jeff, Greig Young, Becky Walden; grandchildren.

Hagood Richardson

HEATH SPRINGS — Mr. Hagood O’Neil “Toby” Richardson aka “the Poppy Man,” age 88, of 4429 Kershaw Camden Hwy., Heath Springs, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at his home. Born September 18, 1916, in Marion County, he was a son of the late Walter O’Neil and Maggie Collins Richardson and was married to Betty Beckham Richardson. He worked from 1933 to 1941 at the old Pavilion in Myrtle Beach. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1950 where he was a member of Pi Sigma Etta, an honorary fraternity and was licensed in 1951. Mr. Richardson later worked in the Pollution and Water Control division of DHEC from which he retired in 1977. During his work with DHEC he had additional studies at USC, U of GA, Winthrop and Sacramento State College. Mr. Richardson helped organize the 1st Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1955. He was selected by Senator Roddy to organize the 1st Lancaster County operated ambulance service. He taught classes for the Red Cross in First Aid and also in shelter management for Civil Defense during the Cold War. Mr. Richardson was a member of Pleasant Hill ARP Church, where he was deacon, elder and elder emeritus, was past president, secretary and treasurer of The Lions Club District C, was a member of Abney Masonic Lodge, Kershaw, was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran and was past commander of the American Legion.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Beckham Richardson of Heath Springs, 3 sons, Neil Richardson of Anderson, Kim Richardson of Mt. Pleasant and Van Richardson of Kershaw; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Mary Katherine Fox of Aiken; 1 brother, James Lee Richardson of Charleston.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 from Pleasant Hill ARP Church by the Rev. Dwight Pearson. Interment with military honors conducted by The American Legion will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Mahaffey Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill ARP Church.

Mahaffey Funeral Home is serving the Richardson family.

Mildred Pendergrass

COLUMBIA — Services for Mrs. Mildred Morris Pendergrass of Columbia will be held 12:00 noon, Wednesday at Northminster Presbyterian Church, with interment in Palmetto Cemetery. Visitation is 7:00 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to Sister Care, P.O. Box 1029, Columbia, SC 29202.

Mrs. Pendergrass died Thursday, December 16, 2004. Born in DeFuniak Springs, FL, she was the daughter of the late McClendon and Rosena Morris. She was a member of Northminster and the United Presbyterian Women. She was a retired teacher from Richland School District One; was a member of Jack & Jill, Inc. and Gamma Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., YWCA, the Moles and past board member of Sister Care.

Surviving are children, LTC. (Ret.) “Pete” (Sandra) Pendergrass, Jr. and Dr. Marnette P. McKinney; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Robert Gundberg

SUMTER — Services for Robert C. Gundberg, 85, are private. Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge. Born in Jameston, N.Y., to Carl and Jennie Swanson Gundberg, he died December 20, 2004. He retired from Crescent Tool Company and served in the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are his brother-in-law, Ronald Fagerstrom; special friend, Annie Sizemore; nieces and nephews.

Tommy Gilbert

Services for Tommy Gilbert age 80 who died August 13, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Winburn and Rev. Jim Beck will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday 5-7pm at the funeral home. Mr. Gilbert was born in Hartsville the son of the late Burch and Bertha Chapman Gilbert. Surviving are: Wife: Elizabeth Gilbert, Hartsville. Sons: Gene (Carolyn) Gilbert, Carol (Vickie) Gilbert, Jerry Gilbert all from Hartsville. Daughters: Denise (Lewis) Gordon, Lake Lure, NC, Lou (William) Warren, Hartsville. Brothers: A.J. Gilbert, Eleby Gilbert, both from Hartsville. Sister: Sarah Hopkins, Union. 5 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29201-1790.
