Clarisa Hensley

CONWAY — Clarisa G. Allen Hensley, 44, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Conway, a daughter of Eldoria Lee Jacobs Allen and the late Robert Lee Allen. She was the widow of Tony Hensley.

She was a member of Thee Baptist Worship Center.

Survivors, in addition to her mother of Conway, include a son, Jesse Wayne Howard of Conway; two daughters, Heather Howard and Margaret Kay Hensley, both of Conway; two sisters, Caytena Moore and Gina Allen, both of Conway; and two brothers, Cordell Allen and Kevin Allen, both of Conway.

She was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Allen.

Visitation will be at 9 this morning at Thee Baptist Worship Center.

The funeral will be at 10 this morning at the church. The Rev. Lamar Boulware will officiate. Burial will be in State Branch Cemetery.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge.

Memorials may be made to to Thee Baptist Worship Center, 1137 S.C. 90, Conway, SC 29526.

Ronald R. Matthews

ANDREWS — Ronald Robert Matthews, 53, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Matthews; three children, Stacey Matthews, Ronald Matthews and Christopher Brooke; six sisters; a brother; and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Lebanon AME Church.

McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home is in charge.

Jennings G. Morton

CONWAY — Jennings G. Morton, 69, died Jan. 21, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Camden-O-Gauley, W.Va., a son of the late Preston J. and Ruby M. Beckett Morton.

He was a veteran of the Air Force and a retired dental technician from Morton Dental Craft.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Crislip Morton; three daughters, Sherry M. Mayer, Rita M. Andrews and Randi Morgan, all of Conway; a son, David Morton of Loris; a brother, James Morton of Conway; a sister, Hildred Williams of Liberty, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Lee Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2:30 Thursday at Grace Tabernacle Church in Loris. Pastor Owen Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.

John J. Osborne Jr.

WEST OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — John Jefferson Osborne, 71, of Ocean Highway, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Brunswick Community Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Brunswick Funeral Home in Shallotte.

James M. Porter

CONWAY — James Martin "Mouse" Porter, 56, of Willard Road, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at home after an illness.

He was born in Conway, a son of the late Martin Angus and Josie Mew Porter.

He was a member of Free Welcome Freewill Baptist Church and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Sutton Porter; two sons, James Douglas Porter of Myrtle Beach and Martin Brandon Porter of Conway; a sister, Frances Porter Cox and her husband, Edward, of Conway; two nieces, Sharon Newman and her husband, David, of Conway and Rachel Harp and her husband, Clay, of Myrtle Beach; a nephew, Edward Martin "Marty" Cox of Conway; and a great-niece, Emily Newman of Conway.

Visitation was Tuesday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Free Welcome Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Brooks Sykes will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Free Welcome Freewill Baptist Church, 645 Four Mile Road, Conway, SC 29526.

Jack Richardson

GALIVANTS FERRY — Jack Richardson, 73, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Conway Hospital.

He was born in Horry County, a son of the late John Forrest and Lonnie Hughes Richardson. He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Gus Richardson, King Richardson and John F. Richardson, all of Galivants Ferry; three sisters, Blanche Capps of Galivants Ferry, Annie Spivey of Aynor and Nettie Richardson of Conway; and many nieces and nephews.

"On Jan. 21, 2002, we lost our dear loved one, and now we are lonesome and blue. His smile and kind words we will miss, of all his `special' ways we reminisce. Although he never won big medals, awards or degrees down here, he has now won a `Crown of Life' in heaven where there is no more death, pain or tears. We love you, and we will miss you, Jack. But now, you are happy in heaven with God and our Aunt Mac," said his family.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Rehobeth Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Nobles will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church, 280 Dog Bluff Road, Galivants Ferry, SC 29544.

Ralph E. Strickland

CERRO GORDO, N.C. — Ralph Elton Strickland, 71, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Louise S. Strickland; two sons, Bryan Strickland and Michael Strickland; two daughters, Sherry Brown and Alison Cartrette; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Meares Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Spring Branch Baptist Church.
