Merikey Cannon

CHAPIN — Services for Merikey “Becky” Cannon, 90, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Ralph Hill. Pallbearers will be Glenn Amick, Carl Connelly, Jerald Shealy, Randy Sease, Carroll Amick, Mike Snelgrove, Tim Harmon, and Stewart Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Generations, Dr. Carroll Pinner, III, Peggy Bowers, and Eugene Huffstetler. The family will receive friends Monday, December 27, 2004 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Caughman Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Family and friends may call the home of Faye Shealy, 72 Wheeland School Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075 at any other times. Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church or a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Cannon died Saturday, December 25, 2004. Born in Chapin, SC, she was the wife of the late Samuel Frank Cannon and the daughter of the late Silas W. and Minnie Lindler Amick. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her sisters, Elberta Frick and Gessie Mae Connelly, both of Chapin; brothers, Richard Amick of Little Mountain and S.W. Amick of Chapin and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by brothers, Willard, Ansel, Elmer, Gary and Homer Amick.

Mark Christenson

MYRTLE BEACH — Mark Edward Christenson, age 34, of Socastee, died Saturday, December 25, 2004 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Born September 3, 1970 in Warner Robins, GA he was the son of Charles F. and Mary J. Haigler Christenson. Mark Christenson was the co-owner with his brother, Sean Christenson, of Atlantic Coast Ceramics, Inc. in Myrtle Beach. Throughout his life, Mark never met a person who didn’t become a friend. He carried his heart on his shoulder and gave his all at everything he did for his family, his friends, his job and his life. He will always be loved and never forgotten. God Bless you - your family

Surviving in addition to his parents of Ridgeway, SC is his wife, Christie Christenson; a son, Patrick Christenson; two daughters, Carlie and Beth Christenson; two brothers, Andy and Sean Christenson both of Garden City Beach, SC.

Funeral services will be held 1:00PM, Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, beach chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM, Monday, December 27, 2004 at the funeral home.

Helen Collins

COLUMBIA — Services for Helen Elizabeth Collins, 52, of E-5 First Calvary Apartments, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Manigault-Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, 2229 Two Notch Road, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8:30 p.m. today, December 27, 2004, and the wake will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Daughter of the late Robert and Delores D. Washington , she was born in Columbia, and died on December 22, 2004, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. She was formerly married to William Bookman.

Survivors are: a daughter, Shana C. Thomas; sons, Nicholas, William, and Douglas Collins; sisters, Marie Washington , Patricia Washington , and Barbara Moore; a brother, Chestley Price; grandfather, Limous Simmons; other relatives and loving friends.

Joseph Hawkins

ANDERSON — Mr. Joseph C. Hawkins, age 88, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, after a brief illness. Mr. Hawkins, son of the late Guy Hawkins and Allie Ashley Hawkins of Long Branch Community, was born May 20, 1916. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired inspector for the South Carolina General Services Administration. Mr. Hawkins was a long time member of the Men’s Bible Class at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, S.C., a member of Golden K.

Lorraine Macue

McBEE — A Memorial Prayer Service for Lorraine Macue, age 61, who died December 26, will be Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.

Born in PA, she was the daughter of Mary Cincheri Sinchock and the late Frank Sinchock. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are her mother; husband, Alexander Macue, Jr., McBee.

Steven Juk

GEORGETOWN — Steven S. Juk, Sr., 83, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Juk was born in Detroit, Mich. on October 22, 1921, a son of naturalized citizens from Russia, the late Andrew and Mary Juk. He grew up in Detroit and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Juk lived in Georgetown since 1943 and was an accountant with International Paper Company for thirty-nine years until his retirement in 1985.

Gussie Nicholson

COLUMBIA — Graveside services for Mrs. Gussie Belle Nicholson, 85, of Columbia, SC, will be held December 28, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service. Reverend Billy Mew will officiate. Greenlawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Margaret McNair

HARTSVILLE — Graveside services for Margaret Ann McNair, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 in Magnilia Cemetery. Rev Teri Ott will officiate. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Pee Dee. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Ms. McNair died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Leslie and Marguerite McNair McNair.

She was a 1942 graduate of Winthrop College and was retired after 26 years from Sonoco Products Co. where she was in the IPD Executive offices. She was a member of the Pilot Club and was past president of the UDC. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and in 1991 recieved a certificate from the women of the First Presbyterian recognizing her many contribtibutions to her church.

Surviving are brothers, James O. McNair of Hartsville, S.C., S.M. “Boo” McNair of Charlotte, N.C.

William Smith

ALLENDALE — William Nelson “Billy” Smith, 64, entered into rest Saturday, December 25, 2004 at Allendale County Hospital.

Mr. Smith was a native of Allendale County, the son of the late Ewing and Margaret Meyer Smith. He was retired from Mixson Oil Company after 31 years. He was the owner of Twins Taxidermy and a member of Allendale First Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Denise S. Broome and husband, John, of Jackson and Genise S. Rabon and husband, Chris, of Irmo; 4 grandchildren, Kelsey Brower, Brooke and Travis Broome, William Christian Rabon; 1 brother, Marshall P. “Sonny” Smith Sr. of Allendale; 3 sisters, Nickie S. Clifton and Mary Francis Smith, both of Allendale and Patti S. Johnson of Ruffin. There are many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-niece.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Allendale First Baptist Church with burial following in the Swallow Savannah Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Hospice. Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home of Allendale is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Thomas

HOPKINS — Services for Mrs. Pauline Jacobs Thomas are 12 P.M. Tuesday at Veighle Chapel Baptist Church. Interment in Capernaum Temple of Yeshua Church. Visitation is 4 to 9 P.M. at J.P. Holley Funeral Home, Garners Ferry Road Chapel.

Born in Richland County to the late Hampton and Octavia Jacob, she died Friday, December 24, 2004. Surviving: sons, Nick Jr., Jerry, Jimmy, Gene, Steve, Wayne Thomas of Hopkins, SC, Barry Thomas of Columbia, SC; daughters, Gail Sheilds of the home, Ellen Tucker Beulah Anderson, Eulah Baily, Jackie Moye and Donna Branch of Columbia, SC; brother, Elder Van Jacobs Sr. (LilaBell) of Columbia, SC; 34 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren.

Lonnie Stone Jr.

HEMINGWAY — Mr. Lonnie Clarendon (L.C.) Stone, Jr., 63, died Sunday at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Midway Baptist Church with burial following in Midway Cemetery, directed by Morris Funeral Home. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Stone was born in Hemingway, a son of Lonnie Clarendon Stone, Sr. and Olene Cribb Stone. He was a Hemingway High School graduate, a life-long member of Midway Baptist Church, commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in July 1975; past-president and member of Williamsburg Farm Bureau (25 years); member of Hemingway Lions Club: Farmer of the Year (1985) - Williamsburg County; and Treasurer of Winyah Cruisers.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Marjorie Ann Wilder Stone; his children, Daniel Clarendon (Tammy) Stone of Columbia and Marjorie Lynn Stone (Matthew) Smith of North Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Tristan Jarrett Stone Smith and Payton Elizabeth Riley Smith, both of North Myrtle Beach; his sisters, Viola Stone Cribb of Spartanburg, Viva Nell Stone (Donald) Wilson of Lexington, and Norman Jean Stone Miller of Pamplico. He was predeceased by his daughter, Leslie Ann Stone and his sister, Francis Stone Grier.
