Charles J. Mackey

SURFSIDE BEACH — Charles Joseph Mackey, 85, of Seventh Avenue North, formerly of Edison, N.J., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Elida, N.M., a son of the late Joseph and Marie Mackey.

He was a World War II Air Force pilot. He retired from Montgomery Ward after 43 years of service as a merchandise manager. He was a member of Markies Marauders of Raccoon Run and Grand Strand Seniors Golf Association. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie Mackey; a son, James Mackey and his wife, Linda, of Sylvania, Ohio and two grandchildren, Malissa Mackey of Southfield, Mich., and Charles Mackey of Dallas.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Mackey, and two sisters, Mary E. Kennedy and Frances Cook.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, with a prayer vigil at 5:30 p.m.

The service and burial will be in Ohio by Reeb Funeral Home of Sylvania, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Coastal Carolina Chapter, P.O. Box 80459, Charleston, SC 29416-0459.

Allen McCoy Sr.

GEORGETOWN — Allen McCoy Sr., 84, of Butts Street, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine McCoy; two daughters, Joan McCoy and Myrtle Brown; a granddaughter raised as a daughter, Agela Ford; five sisters; and a brother.

Visitation will be at 6 tonight at Wilds Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Stephen AME Church. Burial will be in Morning Glory Cemetery.

Ruth A. Page

AYNOR — Ruth Anderson Page, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at home after an illness.

She was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Dawsey and Sally Williamson Anderson.

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Richardson and her husband, Mike, of Conway and Tammy Ward and her husband, Mike, of Galivants Ferry; five grandchildren, Jamie Calder, Michael Richardson, Kyle Richardson, Jade Ward and Caleb Ward; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Calder.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Aynor. The Revs. Larry Peavy and Billy Graham will officiate. Entombment will be in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Elizabeth L. Shirey

CONWAY — Elizabeth Lee Shirey, 70, of Sherwood Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Conway Hospital.

She was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late John H. and Aggie Gerald Lee. She was the widow of James Franklin Shirey.

She retired from Horry County Schools as a bookkeeper.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Shirey of Surfside Beach; three sisters, Dula Kitchens of Salley, Rose Caudle of Kernersville, N.C., and Joyce Lee Timmons of Showell, Md.; and a brother, Jerry R. Causey of Conway.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jerry Brittingham will officiate.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Guy L. Trueax

SURFSIDE BEACH — Guy Layton Trueax, 77, of Caropines, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at home.

He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Fulton County, Pa., a son of the late Earl Hanks and Velma Layton Trueax.

He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the South Pacific. He owned and operated a farm for 40 years in Pennsylvania before moving to the Grand Strand in 1994 with his wife. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Surfside Beach. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Murrells Inlet and the Lions Club in Crystal Spring, Pa., and Surfside Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jean Trueax; three daughters, Diana Bard and her husband, Forrest, of Westford, Mass., Charlotte Cooley of Woodbridge, Va., and Sherry Johnson and her husband, Allen, of Shermansdale, Pa.; four sons, Duane Trueax and his wife, Patricia, of Crystal Spring, Stuart Trueax and his wife, Donna, of Greencastle, Pa., Roy Trueax of Dillsburg, Pa., and Perry Trueax of Washington. D.C.; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Surfside Beach.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mary K. Tyler

McCOLL — Mary Katherine Tyler 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002.

She was born in Whiteford County, Ga, a daughter of he late Barney and Lula Lynch Bearden. She was the widow of Bowden S. Tyler.

She was a retired textile worker.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Russell Tyler Sr. of Columbus, Miss.; two daughters, Vickey T. Randolph of Casselberry, Fla. and Sheila T. Strickland of Loris; a brother, George W. Bearden of Hephzibah, Ga.; two sisters, Martha B. Douglas of Rockingham, N.C., and Sarah Jo Granger of McColl; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Rogers Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at McColl Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery.
