BOLIVIA — Ruth O. Hyde, 78, of Marina Drive, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Brunswick Cove Nursing Home.

No local service is planned.

Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory, Supply chapel, is in charge.

Lula H. Joyner

FARMVILLE, N.C. — Lula Hardy Joyner, 86, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at home.

She was a retired educator and a member of the Farmville United Methodist Church.

She was the widow of Carl L. Beaman and Joseph D. Joyner Sr.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Sue Joyner Tisdale of Myrtle Beach; a stepson, Joseph D. Joyner Jr. of Raleigh; four nieces, Steva Hardy Bledsoe, Sue Hardy Shelton and Nancy Hardy Sauls, all of Institute, N.C., and Mary Pell Foster of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and four nephews, Billy Hardy, Bob Hardy and Jimmy Trivette, all of Institute and Charles Hardy of LaGrange; and five stepgrandchildren.

A graveside service was June 15 at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Farmville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 153, Farmville, NC 27828.

Farmville Funeral Home is in charge.

Olene S. Lewis

LELAND, N.C. — Olene S. Lewis, 73, of Leland, N.C., died Monday, July 1, 2002, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Goshen Baptist Church, 4124 Mount Misery Road, Leland. The Rev. Barbara Bell will officiate. Burial will be in North Myrtle Beach Memorial Park.

Coble Ward-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Oleander chapel, Wilmington, N.C., is in charge.

Martha McDowell

MYRTLE BEACH — Martha Jane Fullwood McDowell, 71, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at Grand Strand Health Care after an illness

She was born Nov. 5, 1930, in the Burgess community, a daughter of the late Alfonzo and Zellie Agnes Jollie Fullwood. She was the widow of Albert Lloyd McDowell.

She opened Wee Care Day School in 1962, where she directed for 27 years with high standards in caring, tending and educating children. She loved the children and delighted in creativity. She loved to fish, garden and tell wonderful stories. She was a member of First Baptist of Myrtle Beach and active in the fight against breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease. She battled cancer for six years.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue Brunson and her husband, Steve, Helen Richardson and her husband, Eddie, both of Myrtle Beach and Phyllis Clemons and her husband, Bob, of Abbyville; a brother, Charles Irwin Fullwood of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Daisy F. Scott of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and six grandchildren, William Richardson and his wife, Tonya, Lori Clemons, Rob Clemons, Martha Elizabeth Brunson, Lewis Brunson and Christopher Brunson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Wednesday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, beach chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ocean Woods Cemetery.

Fred Milton

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Fred Milton, 61, died Saturday, June 29, 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ann Trotter Milton; four sons, Arron Milton, Fred Milton, John Milton and Jeramy Milton; a daughter, Carmen Milton; four brothers; a sister; an uncle and an aunt.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Metropolitan Funeral Chapel, Rochester.

Wilds Funeral Home is in charge.

Jeanette H. O'Quinn

LORIS — Jeanette Holmes O'Quinn, 64, of Twin City Circle, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Loris Community Hospital.

She was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Bruce and Mary Causey Holmes.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, sang in the choir and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, James K. "Bill" O'Quinn; a son, Terry O'Quinn and his wife, Belinda, of Loris; two daughters, Sarah O'Quinn Fowler and her husband, Thomas, of Tabor City, N.C., and Michelle O'Quinn Floyd and her husband, Tracy, of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Lurie Holmes of Loris; four sisters, Lillie Lee of High Point, N.C., Eva Collins and her husband, George, and Ann Cox and her husband, King, all of Loris and Carolyn Johnson and her husband, Gene, of Mullins; a sister-in-law, Helen Holmes of Loris; three grandchildren, Shanna O'Quinn, Tasha O'Quinn and JoLanna Fowler.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy Caines and the Rev. Bill Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Twin City Memorial Gardens.

Marshall Powell

PAMPLICO — Marshall J. "Dexter" Powell, 55, died Sunday, June 30, 2002.

Survivors include his mother, Rebecca Loraine S. Powell; a son, Joey Powell; a daughter, Susan Haselden and her husband, Roger, of Johnsonville; two brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church.

Morris Funeral Home, Hemingway, is in charge.

Margaret S. Roach

SURFSIDE BEACH — Margaret Smith Roach, 82, of Docksider Court, formerly of Roebuck, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Winnsboro and a daughter of the late Harry Conway Smith Sr. and Callie McCombs Smith. She was the widow of Junie V. Roach.

She was a market researcher and a member of Roebuck Presbyterian Church. At the church, she was a member of the Women of the Church and a teacher of the Ladies Bible Class for many years.

Survivors include three sons, J. Wayne Roach and his wife, Sylvia, of Atlanta, Don F. Roach and his wife, Barbara, of Woodruff and Neil C. Roach and his wife, Vickey, of Dallas; two daughters, Myra Moseley and her husband, Neal, of Albany, Ga., and Cheryl Roach of Surfside Beach; two brothers, Gaines Smith and his wife, Eleanor, of Charleston and Gerald Smith and his wife, Anne, of Santee; three sisters, Lois Littell of Moncks Corner, Ruth Gentry of Spartanburg and Laura Neeley and her husband, H. L., of Spartanburg; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Earline R. Hill; a brother, Harry C. Smith, Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Morrison and Dorothy Stone.

Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. today at Roebuck Presbyterian Church and at other times at the home of Don F. Roach, 331 Casey Road, Woodruff.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church. The Rev. Lee Moseley and the Rev. Fred Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
