MYRTLE BEACH — Nathan Vereen Jr., died Friday, July 5, 2002, at home.

Visitation will be at 1517 Carver Street, Myrtle Beach.

Arrangements will be announced by Rhue's Mortuary in Conway.

Ila H. Watson

GREEN SEA — Ila H. Watson, 86, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Loris Community Hospital after an illness.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.

Arrangements will be announced by Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.

James White

FORK — James White, 82, widower of Eva Brogdon White, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Medford Place in Darlington after an illness.

He was born April 7, 1920, in Laurinburg, N.C., a son of the late Buck White and Ellafare Sessoms White Grooms.

He was a retired farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Leroy White of Conway; a daughter, Peggy Weathersby and her husband, Jim, of Fair Bluff, N.C.; five grandchildren, James Flowers and his wife, Stacey, of Socastee, Angie Jordan and her husband, Maury, of Darlington, Darren Flowers and his wife, Sharon, of Marion, Chris White of Summerville and Tracy Cook of Hamburg, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; a stepbrother, Willie Edward Grooms Sr. and his wife, Louise, of Laurinburg; and a stepsister, Glennie Mae Grooms McCallum of Laurinburg.

Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins.

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Hopewell Cemetery in Fork. The Rev. Freddie Martin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church of one's choice.

Zion J. Amann
GEORGETOWN — Zion Joseph Amann, 78, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Bon Secours-St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Charleston.

She was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Thomas Raad and Barbara Nahra Joseph.

She graduated from Winyah High School and attended St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing. She was the original owner of Colonial Florist from 1966 to 1991 and an active member of the Georgetown community.

She was a daily communicant of St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church and was the church Catholic Woman of the Year in 1992. She was a member and president of The Altar Society and a member of the Catholic Women's Club. She was also a lector and eucharist minister.

Survivors include her husband, George H. Amann of Georgetown; three sons, Anthony Amann, Joe Amann and Paul Amann, all of Georgetown; five daughters, Barbara A. Dumm of Georgetown, Helen A. Chiha and Sara A. Chiha, both of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., Maryjo A. Karre of Memphis, Tenn., and Ann A. Wynn of Seneca; a brother, Dr. Paul T. Joseph of Camden; two sisters, Pauline J. Sottile of Charleston and Helen J. Walsh of Georgetown; 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, George P. Amann.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Edward W. Fitzgerald will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church Building Fund, 317 Broad St., Georgetown, SC 29440 or Tara Hall Home for Boys, P.O. Box 955, Georgetown, SC 29442.

Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown chapel, is in charge.

Albert J. Ambroselli

SHALLOTTE, N.C. — Albert John Ambroselli, 67, of Gallinule Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Wilmington, N.C.

Arrangements will be announced by Brunswick Funeral Service and Crematory, Shallotte.

Alton R. Brown

MULLINS — Alton Ray Brown, 65, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1937, in Calhoun Falls, a son of the late George David and Sarah Nathleen Fagan Brown.

He retired from civil service as a painter. He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Smith Brown; a son, Chris Keliiaukai Brown and his wife, Nancy, of Honolulu; two daughters, Marie Alohalani Brown and Ruth Tuinii, both of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Dwayne Brown and his wife, Nancy, of Houston and Gary Brown and his wife, Jane, of Iva; a stepdaughter, Sherrie Barron and her husband, Ron, of Ladson; and a stepgrandson.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m Saturday at Cox-Collins Funeral Home, Mullins. Visitation will be after the service.

Benjamin `BB' Durant

SOUTHPORT, N.C. — Benjamin "BB" Durant, 83, formerly of the Homewood and St. Paul Communities, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center, Southport.

He was a son of the late Henry and Viola Durant. He was the widower of Georgia Eloise Durant.

Survivors include four sons, Carlton, Michael, Tyrone and Robert; five daughters, Patricia, Sarah, Cynthia, Linda and Georgia; two sisters, Coral Bellamy and Sadie Sessions; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 8 to 10 tonight at Rhue's Mortuary Inc.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. L.B. Chestnut will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.

Robert E. Fulton

ANDREWS — Robert Evan Fulton, 80, of the Big Dam Swamp section of Georgetown County, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.

Arrangements will be announced by Mayer Funeral Home, Andrews chapel.
