LAURENS — A graveside service for Kathryn Goggans Denny, 92, is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cross Hill; visitation to follow. Kennedy Mortuary, Laurens, is in charge. Born in Cross Hill to James and Kate Addison Denny, she died Dec. 23, 2004. She was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. Surviving are sister, Sara Scherer; niece, Sara Ashauer; nephew, Wallace Scherer.

LORIS — Services for Ronie Ebelene Hardee Cox, 94, widow of Orian Cox, are 2 p.m. Wednesday (visitation 6-8 tonight) at Hardwick Funeral Home; burial in Buck Creek Cemetery. Born in Loris to Andrew and Mary Ann Smith Hardee, she died Dec. 26, 2004. Surviving: children, Paul, Lamar, Elden Cox, Letha Mitchell, Elease Graham, Geraldine Russ; 1 brother; 3 sisters; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

CHESTERFIELD — A memorial service for Harry Gene Fritz, 76, is 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Cheraw. Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Glyndon, Md., to Norman and Elizabeth Stocksdale Fritz, he died Dec. 25, 2004. Surviving are wife, Marion Frush Fritz; children, Melissa Thacker, Deborah Copp, Carole Downer; sister, Ruth Brown; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

KINGSTREE — Services for James Evans Sr., 78, 1 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Freewill Bapt. Church; burial in Goodwill Freewill Bapt. Churchyard, Cades. Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Cades to Willard and Mariah Evans, he died Dec. 26, 2004. Surviving: wife, Florine; children, Willard, Robert, Rickey, James Jr., Hugh, Ronald, Alphus, Troy, Cory, Elizabeth, Diana, Ida, Edna.

Robin Hare

LANCASTER — The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Robin Elaine Cooper Hare, 45, is 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Church of God; burial at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sand Ridge Cemetery, Georgetown; visitation 6-8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home. Born in Lancaster Co. to Curtis and Annie Cooper, she died Dec. 26, 2004. Surviving: mother; children, Cory Hare, Hannah Moore; brothers, Stephen, Roger.

Norma Gibson

WEST COLUMBIA — Service for Norma Cook Gibson, 74, will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Palmetto Church of Christ, Irmo, with burial in Woodridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Southeastern Children’s Home, Duncan. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8 p.m at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, Columbia.

Mrs. Gibson, wife of the late Charles Joseph “Chad” Gibson, died Monday, December 27, 2004, in Savannah, Ga. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Archie and Bertha White Cook. She was a member of Palmetto Church of Christ and Ladies Bible Class.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Gerry Gibson of Savannah, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Virginia Larmon Gibson of Irmo; and grandchildren, Dan, Matthew, Lauren and Kimberly Gibson. She was predeceased by son, Charles J. Gibson, Jr. and sister, Julia James.

Julious Heyward

GREELEYVILLE — Services for Julious Heyward, 85, former Georgia Pacific Industries employee, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Good Hope Baptist Church; burial in Mt. Zion Baptist Churchyard. Dimery & Rogers Funeral Home, Kingstree, is in charge. Born in John’s Island to Prince and Josephine Heyward, he died Dec. 24, 2004. Surviving: wife, Bessie Heyward; stepchildren, William, Linda Quarles, General Keels; more.

Jack Jordan Sr.

MULLINS — Mr. Jack Miles Jordan, Sr., 73, widower of Dottie Jean Harrelson Jordan, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, in Marion County Medical Center after an illness.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 28 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Clardy and the Rev. Marty Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Aynor Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Mr. Jordan was born March 23, 1931, in Horry County, a son of the late Cord Bradley Jordan and the late Pearl Lee Gore Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a farmer and former owner and operator of DJ’s Trucking Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Surviving Mr. Jordan are: a Son: Jack M. “Jay” Jordan, Jr. and his wife Donna of Gresham; 3 Daughters: Kimber Lee J. Jenerette and her husband Jimmy of Galivants Ferry, Donna Kaye J. Strickland and her husband Thad of Nichols and Dottie Jeaneen J. Gasque and her husband Joey of Galivants Ferry; 7 Grandchildren: Alisha Kay Jordan, Samantha Jo Jordan, Brooke Jewette Jenerette, Jimmi Lynn Jenerette, Kayson Thad Strickland, Kylie Don Strickland and Joseph Gage Gasque; 3 Brothers: Malcolm M. Jordan of Galivants Ferry, Asa B. Jordan of Galivants Ferry and William B. Jordan of Galivants Ferry; and 2 Sisters: Hilda J. Dawsey of Gastonia, N.C. and Editha J. Robbins of Florence.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. til 12:00 Noon, prior to the service at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

TRAVELERS REST — Services for Walter “Dutch” Kelley, 79, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Howze Mortuary; burial in Clearview Baptist Churchyard. Born in Elkland, Pa., to Freeman and Martha Bell Kelley, he died Dec. 26, 2004. SOCIETY HILL — Services with burial for Marcus Jackson, 22, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Young & Young Funeral Home, Hartsville, is in charge. Born in Darlington Co. to Donnie and Linda Green Jackson, he died Dec. 22, 2004. Surviving are parents; siblings, LaToya, Donnie Jr., Kendrick Jackson; daughter, Aleshia Jackson; grandparents, Toby Harrison, Arsenia Isaac, Henry Isaac.

Charlie Jamison Sr.

NORWAY — Services for Charlie “Boy” Jamison Sr., 86, widower of Evola Jamison, 3:30 p.m. (viewing 2:30) Wednesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church; visitation 1-9 p.m. today at Simmons Funeral Home, Orangeburg. Born in Orangeburg Co. to Charlie and Laddie Jamison, he died Dec. 24, 2004. Surviving: children, Rosebud Simmons, Charlie Jr., Clarence, Johnnie Jamison; 2 siblings; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Judith Key

AIKEN — Services for Judith “Judy” Key will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Born in Aiken to Luther and Beatrice Pryor Key, she died December 26, 2004. She was a member of Breezy Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are siblings, Eunice Key, Nellie Blankenship, Jeanette Smith, Linda Wingard, Albert Key, Leroy Key.

ELLIOTT — Services for James Arthur “Kirk” King, 54, 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant H.S.; burial: St. Paul UM Church Cemetery, Wysacky. Williams Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Lee Co. to Gillon and Rebecca King, he died Dec. 24, 2004. Surviving: children, Michael, Ka’tetcia, Janice King; siblings, Charles, Elvis, Johnny, Lillian King, Robert Williams, Shirley Campbell, Hannah Smith, Brenda Wilson.

Evelyn McClendon

COLUMBIA — Services for Mrs. Evelyn Gammons McClendon, 87, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday (viewing at 12 noon) in the Veighle Chapel Baptist Church with burial in Gammon Family Cemetery, Gammonsville, Arkansas. Leevy’s Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel is in charge. Surviving are her brother, Lawrence Gammon, Sr.; stepdaughter, Lou Alice Johnson; half-sister, Ernestine Franklin; half-brothers, Joseph, Charles, and William Gammon.

Janet Knight

ORLANDO, Fla. — Services in S.C. for Janet Freeman Knight, 70, widow of James Knight, are 12:30 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, Rock Hill, with burial in Grandview Memorial Park, Cherry Road. Born in Rock Hill to Jack and Willie Mae King Freeman, she died Dec. 20, 2004. Surviving are son, Michael Knight; siblings, Jack Freeman, Billy Jones, Brenda Mikklsen; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

Isabelle Mergo

IRMO — Services for Jean “Isabelle” Mergo, 86, of Irmo, SC, formerly of Ashley, PA, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, PA, officiated by Rev. Keith Benjamin. Mrs. Mergo will be laid to rest beside her husband, Joseph G. Mergo, Sr. at Maple Hill Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashley Centenary United Methodist Church, Ashley, PA. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mergo died Saturday, December 25, 2004. Born in Ashley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jenny and Kenneth Reese. She was a member of Ashley Centenary United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph G., Jr. and Julie Mergo; grandchildren, Jennifer Mergo Fulmer and husband David, Joseph G. Mergo III and wife Nikole, Jessica Mergo Watts and husband Jeff; great grandchildren, David LaVaughan Fulmer and Joseph “Parker” Mergo; sister, Margaret “Peg” Wootten; and brother, Sam Reese.
