BAYBORO -- John D. Sarvis, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Conway Medical Center.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Bayboro Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Alford and the Rev. A.D. Grainger will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Margaret Suggs

LITTLE RIVER -- Margaret Suggs, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Brunswick Cove Nursing Center in Leland, N.C.

She was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Whiteford and Minnie Graham Parker.

She was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William K. "Bill" Suggs; two sons, Gene A. Suggs of Charlotte, N.C., and William Oree Suggs of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Carolyn Rivenbark of Wilmington; a sister, Eula M. Coats of Brunswick, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, Will Roger Suggs and James Albert Suggs.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church at 1260 Highway 57 N. in Little River.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Dennis Williams and the Rev. Mack Hudson will officiate. Burial will be in North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens in Little River.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.

Paul E. Thompkins

MULLINS -- Paul Edgar Thompkins, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, after an illness.

He was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Horry County, a son of Lola Cifers Thompkins and the late John F. Thompkins.

He was a retired truck driver and attended Mullins-Marion Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his mother of Mullins, include a sister, Hazel Asbury and her husband, Calvin, of Mullins; children, Libby Perritt and her husband, Billy, of Mullins, Johnny Thompkins and his wife, Kathy, of Marion, Paul Thompkins and his wife, Annette, of Collierville, Tenn., and Allen Thompkins and his wife, Lori, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michelle Perritt, John Thompkins, Erin Thompkins, Kaitlyn Thompkins and Jason Thompkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Glenn Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Billy B. White

GAFFNEY -- Billy Burton White, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Fod and Dr. Wayne Brown will officiate.

Richard F. Williams

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. -- Richard Franklin Williams, 70, formerly of Laurinburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Seacoast Medical Center in Little River.

He was born April 4, 1932, in Burlington, a son of Muriel Jones Evans and the late David A. Williams.

He lived in Johns while growing up. He attended Laurinburg High School, Oak Ridge Academy and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He served in the Army, after which he and Bill Evans formed and operated the Bill Evans Co. He ran the company until 1994, when he retired to Ocean Isle Beach.

Survivors, in addition to his mother of Laurinburg, include his wife, Carolyn Davidson Williams; three daughters, Terry Craven and her husband, Rock, of Martinsville, Ind., Mary Gib Conley and her husband, Wyndon, of Laurinburg and Susan Barnes and her husband, Brett, of Wilmington; a stepdaughter, Carmi Farrell and her husband, Rob, of Charlotte; a stepson, Alex Debnam of Florida; a brother, Dr. David Williams of Laurinburg; a sister, Barbara Evans of Goldsboro; and nine grandchildren, Josh Craven, Shuler Craven, Jordan Conley, Gunner Conley, Russ Conley, Alan Barnes, Charlie Barnes, Hannah Farrell and Austin Farrell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at McDougald Funeral and Crematorium.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Lowry, the Rev. Nancy Willard and the Rev. Robert Redmond will officiate.

John P. Wilson Jr.

GEORGETOWN -- John Power Wilson Jr., 76, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Kingstree, a son of the late John Power Wilson and Margie Barrineau Wilson.

He was the widower of Betty Jo Strickland Wilson.

He attended Winyah High School, Presbyterian Junior College and the University of South Carolina Extension in Georgetown. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific theater. He was a former employee of International Paper Co. He was a sergeant major, operations and training specialist and unit administrator with the 4th Battalion of the 178th Field Artillery of the S.C. Army National Guard. He retired in 1987 as chief warrant officer.

He was a charter member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer, United Methodist Youth Fellowship counselor and in various other positions. He was also a member of United Methodist Men, the Young at Heart group and L&M Bunn Church School Class.

He was a former Boy Scout leader and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of the Ocean Waves Square Dance Club, VFW Post No. 6444, American Legion Post No. 114 and the Sergeants Club of the 4th Battalion of the 178th Field Artillery.

Survivors include three sons, Johnny Wilson and his wife, Marsha, Glenn Wilson and his wife, Julie, and Mike Wilson and his wife, Felicia, all of Georgetown; a daughter, Jo Anne W. Foxworth and her husband, Dexter, of Georgetown; five grandsons, Glenn Wilson Jr., Nic Wilson, Dustin Foxworth and Joe Wilson, all of Georgetown, and Dex Foxworth and his wife, Christina, of Orlando, Fla.; a granddaughter, Amy Wilson of Georgetown; two step-grandchildren, Rory Isaac II of Georgetown and Jennifer Isaac of Maui, Hawaii; a step-great-grandchild, Isaac Lee of Maui; and a very special friend, Maydelle M. Johnson of Georgetown.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown Chapel.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dennis J. Mardis and the Rev. Ted A. Sherrill will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Elmwood Cemetery Annex.
