Jason Todd

LORIS -- Jason Todd, 79, of the Daisy community, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Loris Community Hospital after an illness.

He was born July 20, 1923, in Loris, a son of the late William Bert Todd and the late Joyce Tyler Todd.

He worked as a tobacco farmer and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lela West Todd, of Loris; a daughter, Cookie Nalley and her husband, Bobby, of Loris; a brother, Edgar Poe Todd and his wife, Olivia, of Hixson, Tenn; two grandchildren Jason Todd Nalley and Dawn Nalley Guion, both of Loris; and two great-grandchildren Jason McKenzie Guion and Jordan Dawn Guion, both of Loris.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today at Carter Cemetery in the Daisy community. The Rev. David Bauknight will officate.

Memorials may be made to the D.A.V., P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris is in charge.

Minnie S. Wilson

CONWAY -- Minnie Skipper Wilson, 84, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Conway Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Noah and Frances Addline Jordan Skipper.

She farmed all her life and was formerly an associate pastor at Bread of Life Tabernacle. She was the widow of Ardee Wright Wilson.

She was predeceased by a son, Charlie Wilson; two brothers James and Lonnie Skipper; and five sisters Myrtie West, Roberta Graham, Ora Lee Moore, Frostie Skipper and Joyce Skipper.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy J. Wilson of Chesapeake, Va., and Grady A. Wilson of Virginia Beach, Va.; four brothers Earl, John, Noah, and Bobby Skipper, all of Conway; nine sisters, Sadie Jordan, Doshia Bodenhammer, Betty Sellers Lewis, and Geneva Nesbitt, all of Conway, Frances Wood of Newport News, Va., Sarah Harriett Singleton of Myrtle Beach and Lucille Johnson, Louise Olexa, and Lillian Brown, all of Conway; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Palmetto Funeral Home in Conway.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Revs. Donnie Scott and Virgil Chestnut will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity or church of one's choice.

Jessie Wood

HEMINGWAY -- Jessie Mae Fenters Wood, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003.

Survivors include her son, Gregory; sisters Golden, Mary Ellen, Lillian and Doris; and grandsons, Justin and Ryan.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hemingway First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Florence National Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jane E. Compton

LONGS -- Jane Elizabeth Compton, 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at home.

She was born in Ilion, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harold and Edna Cheesboro Everhart.

She was a member of the Risen Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, George William Compton, of Longs; a son, George William Compton Jr. of Reading, Pa.; a daughter, Lori Jane Compton of Archbald, Pa.; a brother, Robert Everhart of California; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Risen Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Carl Gnewuch will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.

Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is in charge.

John B. Farkas

CALABASH, N.C. -- John B. Farkas, 65, of Waterview Lane, The Village at Calabash, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Loris Community Hospital.

He was born April 5, 1937, in Barberton, Ohio, a son of Mary Sanders Farkas of Calabash and the late Paul Farkas.

He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Akron, Ohio, plant, after 35 years of service. He was a member of the city of Barberton Zoning Board and a member of the First Lutheran Church of Barberton and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Shallotte, N.C. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Barberton Troop No. 110, for 54 years, as well as the YMCA Aquatics program for 45 years. He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his son, David J. Farkas and his wife, Cecelia Davidson-Farkas, of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Papp of Charlotte, N.C., and Marcy Stevens of Akron; and two granddaughters, Priscilla Davidson-Farkas and Isabella Farkas.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the St. Luke Lutheran Church. The Rev. Matthew Ernst will officiate.

The will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 Saturday at Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home at 339 Southwest Ave. in Talmadge, Ohio.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Luke Lutheran Building Fund, 5869 Ocean Highway W., Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469.

Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory, Supply chapel, is in charge of local arrangements.

Susan Grant

PAWLEYS ISLAND -- Susan Grant, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Michelle, Billy and Susan; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 7 tonight at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's AME Church in Pawleys Island. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Wilds Funeral Home is in charge.
